I purchased a top end Kitchen Aid model dishwasher over the phone and had delivery and install a few days later. A professional crew installed, but had a minor hiccup where I needed a service call on a rack locking in. Follow up team was punctual and it was a simple adjustment that had it completed in seconds. Kinda embarrassing. Same time if original install had checked it there would have been no further like up needed. Slight drop in stars with inconvenience of add call , but still very satiated. Service is atrocious!! Call the manufacturer and get the extended warranty. They do not know what they are doing 3k for top of the line fridge. And 2k for a speed queen washer recurring issues and I kept calling dr j for service and they would fix something but never correctly! Refrigerator was delivered. Paid over $2000 for appliance but ice-maker does not work & never did. Requested them change it out for a true new fridge & the man on the phone laughed. Now we are months later & still no fix. They feel no sense of urgency. They cannot fix it. I do not want a 'fixed' refrigerator. I bought a brand new one. The entire episode is a blooming joke!! What's not to love! Dr. Johnny's is in my neighborhood. the office mgr. was amazingly helpful on the phone, and the tech that came to our home was amazingly friendly and knew exactly what to do before he even opened the back of our dryer! He pushed the button, diagnosed the problem, and was out the door in less than 30 minutes. Our dryer (which is over 10 years old) sounds brand new and works great. The cost for the repair was around 25% of what it would have cost us to buy the very same dryer brand new. My rule of thumb is to always try to repair equipment you already own. You can extend its life by years and years and save hundreds of dollars (or more!). I strongly recommend! read more

We called as we were not happy with the service and did not even get the courtesy of a call back. They do not stand by what they sell and service! Total and complete disregard of customer service. Virginia Beach, VA Bought a new Whirlpool Washer and Dryer and 2 pedestals. In the first 3 weeks the Washer broke then the dryer broke. After a week they offered a loaner which was an older machine with an agitator. Had to go through Whirlpool to get the dryer fixed and still takes an hour and a half or more to dry a load of clothes. The last time the washer was operable was 3/11/2023. They picked it up on 3/23/2023. They brought it back on April 3 with the whole right side damaged. When they picked it up they took it with the pedestal attached. The weight in the truck could not bear the weight of the washer so the rail broke and the side of that was scratched up. I asked for my money back at the 3 week mark and Johnny screamed I'm not picking it up. It is now April 10th and still no washing machine. I asked again last week for my money back and was told I had it too long now. I told them that was the problem, I haven't had it. As of today the 10th it has been 31 days without the washing machine. It was originally delivered on 2/21/2023. I had it 19 days before it broke. I clearly have been without it longer than I have had it. I would hate for anyone else to have to go through this inexcusable and stressful back and forth like I have. I would never buy anything again from this company. Their total disregard for customer service is disgraceful. I give them one star because it won't post the review without it! I have a detailed time line for this transaction but it's too long to post. Beware! read more

I had just moved into the area and was looking for a washer and dryer. As usual I tried all of the big box stores, home depot, Lowe's, etc but no-one carried what we needed in stock. Finally found this local store and decided to try it out. First impressions when we walked in was very good, very friendly customer service, all our questions were answered and they had exactly what we needed with a great discount. We opted to have it delivered and installed and the installers were proffesional and everything was absolutely painless. As far as the other bad reviews saying they do not support veterans I'm not really sure where that's coming from. I'm active duty military and my wife's a vet and we couldn't be happier. read more

Wife and I purchased a dishwasher for $1000 and still waiting for delivery after one month of waiting. Wife calls to get an updated status on when it will get delivered and the woman that handles it was rude and told her instead of being delivered after one month of waiting, it will now be the middle of May for it to happen. When my wife said she would just wait instead of asking to cancel, the woman hung up the phone without saying goodbye. We will be asking for a refund today! We tried to shop for the mom and pop type of store to keep it in America but with this type of service it's not worth the trouble. They even test parts for me like dryer switches to see if they oHm out ok. I'm a DYI kind of person and they help me every time in getting the right parts and give me advice in repairing in what ever I'm working on. Hands down the best in all aspects. The compressor for my $2400 refrigerator purchased in 2013 was failing. * Dr. J's prompt service calls (past and present) helped me decide to get rid of this lemon. * We came in to the showroom after service call#2 on a Saturday around noon, selected an available replacement , got delivery and installation on the same day. Here's the thing: *The day of major appliances lasting 20+ years is largely gone. *I would never have gotten the quick response and personal attention from the Big Box stores. *Good service is rare. They were just voted the best Appliance store in Virginia Beach and the selection is great. they really sell appliances and sell almost every brand. I will not be back to see the doctor. read more

Not impressed. Spoke with Johnny in the morning and set appointment for an arrival time of 12pm - 2pm and informed them it would be closer to 1230pm before someone could meet a member of their staff. Technician attempted to get in at 1130am where I informed him of my previous conversation that no one would be there until 1230pm, but he needed to be there by 2pm. At 2pm he calls to advise he is on the way, but 15-20 minutes away - I can not stand for people being late. Finally shows up and after a 5 minute screw removal. "Your transmission is shot, $90 please." It literally took him longer to fill out the paperwork than it did to do the inspection. That is a rate of $1,080 per hour - I am in the wrong business. When people ask me about an appliance repair company - Dr. Johnny's will not be one that is recommended. In fact, I will share this story with everyone who has a washer, dryer, fridge issue in the future as someone not to do business with. read more

I purchased all new appliances for my kitchen. As the kitchen is on the third floor with no elevator, I knew the delivery/installation was going to be difficult to say the least. The three men sent to handle the job were wonderful. They were professional, courteous, and friendly even when I knew they were exhausted. The didn't even seem to mind my crazy dogs. Have purchased a Fridge, washer, dryer and now a Dishwasher from here. They price match all of the big box stores and give better customer service. The day the dishwasher arrived they had a issue with the install my 60 year old house had the wrong size fitting for the newer dishwashers. The tech was awesome told me what was needed to adapt it and waited till i came back with the 3 bucks in parts from comet plumbing. They have convenient hours for delivery and service and i will be doing business with them again. read more

We purchased a washer and dryer on 8/17 and paid for the items. The washer needed to be ordered and we were told it would be available in 8 to 10 days. We receive a call to confirm a delivery date of the 27th. It was requested that the date be pushed back a few days because the laundry room was being painted. When we called to reestablish a delivery date we were advised the washer would not be available until 10/ 8 or 9. What happened to the washer to be delivered earlier? The latest call yesterday to Dr Johnnys to inquire about delivery we were told it would be 10/29 before it could be delivered. We cancelled the order and were refunded the purchase price. After waiting for this length of time and the first delivery not available after they established a delivery date and no calls from Dr Johnnys to advise the situation there business practice is very poor to say the least and we wonder about the advice we were given. read more

So, upon recommendation from a friend, we went to Dr. Johnnys to get a 2nd garage refrigerator. The fridge that we chose was not in stock, so John (at no cost) had a loaner refrigerator delivered until the one we ordered arrived.
