This Home Depot is the closest to my house. That's why I come here a lot. Service is sometimes great and then sometimes staff ignore you when you need help. But They usually have what I need. Their plants are definitely over priced and I go other places for that but I shop there all the time. I'm only deducting one point for high price plants because 6 dollars for a tiny parsley is ridiculous. I absolutely hate bad service. Like I said you get good service sometimes too. So to sum it all up. Make sure you look at he prices of everything and speak up if you need help. Always show kindness read more

This review is NOT about the employees in the store. It's about the third party appliance delivery company they pay to do their deliveries and installs, which is a reflection on Home Depot. We were very happy with the appliance sales people, but the delivery people are totally incompetent. We have a house in Sandbridge that is managed by Siebert Realty. There were notes plainly put in the system (I logged in and saw them myself) saying that delivery had to be between 9:30 AM and 4 PM on weekdays, and that they had to call Siebert 30 minutes before delivery so that someone could meet them there. First delivery attempt on a Monday. They arrived at the house at 7:30 AM. Was not in the correct time window and they did not call the management company. I called Home Depot immediately (both the store and general customer service), and they apologized profusely. Rescheduled delivery. Second delivery attempt on the following Thursday. Once again, the delivery company DID NOT FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. Claimed they called Siebert and there was no answer. There is always someone who answers the phone at Siebert, or the ability to leave a message (which the delivery company did NOT do...it's "not their policy"). And once again, they arrived way before the delivery window. I called the Home Depot store again and spoke to the Customer Relations Manager Al Bailey. Very nice man who said he would call the delivery company directly. Al is the one who found out that it isn't the delivery company's "policy" to leave a message. More profuse apologies from Home Depot, and a third delivery was scheduled. By the way, everyone we talked to at the Home Depot store on Elson Green absolutely hates the delivery company and doesn't know why Home Depot doesn't handle deliveries through their own employees. Third delivery attempt on the following Monday. This time, there was a guest actually staying in the house. Once again, the delivery company did NOT follow instructions. No calls or messages for Siebert and WAY before the delivery window. They showed up at the house, knocked on the door, didn't even give the guest time to answer (just like the scene from the Grown Ups movie), and hopped in their truck and left. Tried to claim that they were there for 20 minutes, which was a complete and total lie. More apologies from Home Depot and another reschedule. Fourth delivery attempt on the following Wednesday. By now, you know the theme. Delivery instructions STILL not followed, Siebert did not get a call, and pulled the same stunt by essentially knocking on the door and bolting. Immediately canceled our order. Called Lowe's. Ordered the exact same appliances, and they were delivered and installed the very next day. Lowe's followed instructions, and DOES NOT USE A THIRD PARTY DELIVERY COMPANY! Word to the wise, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS OR ANY OTHER HOME DEPOT UNLESS YOU VERIFY WHO IS ACTUALLY DOING THE DELIVERY! If it is a third party, then TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE! If I could give this experience a rating of zero or less, I absolutely would. If Home Depot truly cared about their customers, they would stop using third party delivery companies. Penny wise and dollar foolish. Siebert manages over 450 properties in that area. After this experience, who do you think they'll be telling their property owners to go to? read more

It's like Forest Gump, "you never know what you are going to get". Ordering online at HD in general and at this store is most likely going to not be worth your time. Had an order in May, ready for "pick-up", canceled. Not for any other reason than the "manager" on duty decided they couldn't build a simple wheel barrow. No call, no response. Then spend an hour dealing with the manager on the phone. Today, order a lumber order online. Part of order canceled the day of. No in-stock options. Then when I get there, another part, they bring out the wrong product. Then go inside to get correct stuff. Come out saying out of stock. So decide to just grab something different because I'm tired of waiting. Go to customer service to exchange, High quality customer service agent says, "don't give me that look". So basically I wasted 1 hour of my time for an online order. So don't order online. Clearly they lack the technology for the app to be a bit more robust and they lack knowledgeable and respect staff. Woman in appliances was rude and snappy as I was trying to buy a washer. I asked if I was keeping her from something. No, she snapped. She obviously did not want to help me... didn't want to be bothered. Little kindness in dealing with customers goes a long way, I said. I know that she retorted in an ugly voice continuing to act as though she hated her job and me. I finally had enough and said I'd buy a washer elsewhere. Ken, at the Lynnhaven store was nice and easy going and the experience was wonderful. We spend a lot of money at Home depot ... but won't be buying appliances if this woman is representative of service there! read more

Most of the workers in this Home Depot are very helpful and knowledgeable however, there's an older white man with think glasses in the door instal department that is very uncomfortable to work with let alone speak to. My mom had trouble with him when she needed a new door installed in her home. He kept called her for different reasons extending the length of business and holding up the install of the door. That was months ago. Today I unfortunately asked him for assistance with what product to use for closing a gap in a door and he just stared at me for an uncomfortable amount of time so I said are you going to show me the product or not. He showed me where the Caulk was but then lingered like a creep. Ladies, take your man friend with you if you have to do business at this location in the door department. God bless read more

I like having a Home Depot near us and usually have all we need when we want it. For that, I can't knock Home Depot and overall glad we have it. A few things for me and some experiences as to why a lower rating is I find it hard to get help at times in the store when there are plenty around to help you. At times I find myself looking for someone and have made eye contact with workers before as they saw me and then turned the corner or don't try to make eye contact with you. Not all but it has happened a few times. Another "not so great moment" was me asking a question about some paint and the one that was helping me didn't have the answer for it but yet said "this is the second time I heard this question today". To me, I figured well, if you heard this again today, maybe you should find a better response to that answer instead of "ummm I don't really know". You can say that in many different ways to sound better trained however, she did call someone higher than her and put me on speaker phone. That conversation needless to say felt very ummmmm... well I could have reacted another way. Basically she didn't have the answer either and was snappy as if I was bothering her when the product clearly said it had a limited lifetime warranty. I wanted to find out what that meant is all being I was about to purchase the product. Her snappy response basically told me to read the label and call that manufacturer if something happened and to make sure I follow the direction. I didn't want to fight or cause a scene as I was with my daughter but I left by saying "thank you and I will read the label myself". So I love having the store, the stock and the convenience but, had some run-ins and seems to be a lack of willingness to help. Not all as I have seen a few "older gentlemen" that are on top things hustling around way more than that young crew. Again not all but it has happened. Nothing to a point that I would not come back but I also do more of my own research before I go in. Oh, the other thing is the cell service in this store and the entire area for all that matters. Awful awful awful. Better not have anything important or you may lose the call or message. If you get on their wifi, it works much better and recommend that. I can't say it's Home Depots fault but that area is bad and hopefully the cellular companies get it together. Great store but if you have questions, be a bit more accertive and do your homework before entering. read more

Dang so I was there today getting some mulch and I found a real nice Milwaukee drill hidden behind a bag of mulch next to the emergency exit for someone to grab under the fence. I'm in this place more than I'd like to admit to, but I have to say that the customer service has always been excellent, friendly and for the most part...knowledgeable. I've never had an issue with my purchases and more recently I purchased carpet, pad and installation for my home. The crews were fast, courteous, professional and did the job beautifully. All-in-all it is my preferred place to go for all my house projects AND starting at the beginning of January they will start registering military personnel's phone numbers for the 10% discount offered. read more

Bought a 6-foot 2X4 and needed it cut in half. The clerk I approached told me the cutting machine wasn't working and suggested I cut it myself, using a saw. I thought anyone in the store is supposed to help out if the customer needs assistance. So. I ended up using the saw and cut the lumber poorly, since I do not have the strength anymore to use a handheld, manually operated saw. I will not buy lumber here next time and will go to another Home Depot branch or Lowe's instead. read more

Nice location, clean and helpful staff. It's in the Redmill Shopping area across the parking lot from Target - they have a nice nursery area with plenty of seasonal plants and flowers and such. Employees have always been fairly friendly and helpful when I'm roaming around looking for something - offering to help or quickly leading me to the items in question. I've purchased home goods and tons of light bulbs here but this year I also bought our Christmas decorations here - consisting of outdoor, indoor lights, extension cords and some outdoor timers for turning on our lights. read more

First they limit the yearly amount you can use the military discount for and now for some reason they don't take pumps back. I bought a water transfer pump. I hooked it up and it didn't work. So like anything else you buy that doesn't work I took it back to the store. They have a policy about not taking back pumps that have been opened. What the heck? It's not like I used it for months and now I want my money back because I'm done with it. This think was dead when I took it out of the box. The two ladies at the return desk we fairly snotty so I asked for the manager. It took some fussing on my part but he finally told her to return the pump. Lowes is ten minutes farther away so I'll be shopping there now. read more

I've been coming to this Home Depot since the time they opened. This one is one of the closest ones to where I live. This location is in the Red Mill shopping area of Virginia Beach. I've also made quite a number of purchases and have experienced a little bit of everything here. This Home Depot is your typical one like anywhere else when you go on. They have a great assortment of home improvement type items that you would need. Almost two years ago, I had them do flooring for my house as it needed to be done due to issues with the carpeting. The flooring staff were great to work with through the process, and I was able to do it during a time when they were offering free installation, regardless of the size of the project. The contractor was also great at making sure everything was done right and to help prevent issues in the future. The flooring is still doing well today. Around that same time, I had also gotten paint to change the colors in the various rooms in my house as I had just recently purchased it at that time, so I wanted to make it my own. Since then, I've been in here quite a bit to find odds and ends of home items needed for my house. Home Depot has been one of my typical places to go shopping for such items. Staff have always been friendly and are willing to help when you have any questions, and especially if you're looking for something in particular. The store is large, so it's not hard to get lost in there. Overall, I would give this place a four star rating. The reason it's not a full five stars for me is because of recent changes they have done with the Home Depot card. Home Depot no longer offers the 5% off discount for using the Home Depot credit card. Their explanation was that it was originally just for contractors, which is what they have gone back to. I've actually started to price items out more between here and Lowe's, as Lowe's still offers the 5% discount if you are using their Lowe's card. I think the discontinuation of the Home Depot credit card discount is a step backwards for Home Depot. In the end, if you're looking for something home improvement-wise, or to have some contracted work done, this is a good place to check out. read more

If you are going to Home Depot at night to the garden center be prepared to fight off some rats. Very attentive employees but none were outside for good reason. We were there for 30 minutes and saw 20-30 rats running around through the shelves, on beams above your head, and crawling up the walls. An infestation is an understatement and with the quantity of the rats, is quite dangerous for the customers and employees. read more

I said yes, he said that he would have to call for someone. Before he hung up he was mocking me in the background. I got out of my truck to walk into the store. He asked if the pergola was mine. Very disappointed with this Home Depot. I did an order for curbside pickup during this pandemic because I am immunosuppressed and I called probably 5 times and no one answered but I was hung up on. My fiancé and I came in to Home Depot to see what kind of flooring we would want for our new home. After looking around we had many questions about the different styles/brands/manufacturers/warranties/etc. After helping another customer, Tom (that works within the flooring department) came over to help us out. Tom was fantastic, professional, and very knowledgeable about his job! He gave us plenty of information about all the different types of flooring Home Depot offered. We walked out with all new flooring for the upstairs of our new home and are super excited to see how it is going to look. 10/10 recommend coming to this location and talking to Tom for all your flooring needs! read more

I was contacted by the Home Depot corporate office after I wrote my review. They told me that the military discount is still their policy and that the difficulty I had was the result of a training issue with the staff of this particular store. The associate who told me that HD no longer offers the military discount was pretty adamant and quickly told me that they now offer comparative pricing where they will match the price on any item from any competitor (doesn't everybody do that?). She came across as pretty certain about this so I suspect there is a disconnect between the store and the corporate office. I am not rushing back to HD by any means. If I do stop in again I will test to see if it was a fluke or if somebody just doesn't know what they are talking about. read more

This location is has tested my brand loyalty for the last two years running. I regret opening a HD credit card with these folks. Most of my experiences have been nightmarish. My Tuff Shed took almost 10 months to deliver and required a complete rebuild where the contractor destroyed my yard from driving in it, the staff here seems satisfied with being unable to answer customer questions on home installations, and I have an exterior door that desperately needs replaced but, even after scheduling a measure AND PAYING FOR IT, I can't seem to get these guys - after multiple calls - to get send someone to come measure so I can actually order a door. I guess they don't appreciate having customers. read more

Military buyers beware. Today I went into the store today to purchase a $2,500 Ryobi electric lawn mower with the intention of using the 10% military discount. After ringing it up and paying for the mower and other items I realized that the price I paid did not add up. I got a discount of $50. With the price of the lawn mower alone I should had received $250 off. I brought this to the attention of customer service and they told me that the military discount caps out at $50. I told them everything on the internet says they cap out at $500. I asked to read their military discount policy and they showed me one that stated they provide a 10% discount on purchases of up to $5,000 (excludes special orders and commodities). So indeed I should had received a $250 discount. The employee called the manager and she said that was an old policy. So I asked to see a new one. She couldn't provide a new one and called up corporate. After speaking to corporate for awhile she had me speak to them. The guy told me they do cap out at $50. But he was concerned that they were advertising the wrong policy and said that the manager could honor the old policy. I asked the manager if they would honor the advertised policy and she said she would have to ask the General Manager. After waiting an hour to resolve this the General Manager texted her back and said no. The reason was if they did it for me they would have to do it for everyone. Needless to say I asked for a refund out of principle alone and will take my business to Lowes who actually honor the 10% military discount with no stipulations even though that mower is only available at the Home Depot. read more

Military Members go to LOWES I called Home Depot to inquire about purchasing carpet and install for my house, and was informed that I would receive 10% military discount on the carpet and pad, but I would have to pay in the store. So I went ahead, paid Home Depot to measure my house, and picked out carpet and a pad. I went into this Home Depot to pay for the carpet ($5,700), show my military ID, and set up an install date. I was told by an employee that I am not eligible for a military discount because this is a "custom order," so I asked to speak to a manager. The manager told me that he is "not going to make an issue out of this" and offered me a $50 discount because that is the max discount they give to military. I informed him that the max discount is $500 per HDs policy. He told me "because this is a military town, we cap our discount at $50. If you lived somewhere like Texas, they don't have a cap because there is little military there." Well mister know it all, there are over 30 bases in Texas, and just a year and a half ago I ordered Pergo flooring from this very same HD and received a 10% military discount (as advertised). I called Lowes and they stated that they will absolutely give a military discount with NO cap. Lowes is coming to measure my house tomorrow. I'm done with Home Depot. Go Jimmie Johnson #48 read more

-Currently working on a full renovation. We have had several issues from the start. We ordered 5 appliances on the first week of November. The sales associate added the protection plan after I told him twice I did not need it. I came back to have it removed from my order and that took an hour because they kept bouncing me from the customer service desk to the appliance department (which only had 1 person working there). Turns out I could have easily been helped at the customer service desk but I guess the lady at customer service didn't feel like doing her job. 1 HOUR TO FIX THEIR MISTAKE. -They rented a defective drywall sander out to my husband twice. He made 2 trips to the store, wasted 4 hours during the whole ordeal and all he got was "we won't charge you, sorry for the wasted time." -2 weeks after I order the appliances, the dishwasher drops in price at home depot, so I go to get it price matched. The lady at customer service, short lady with red dyed hair, told me they don't do price match on appliances. -A few days later our appliances get delayed, so at this point I go in to calmly talk to a manager about my experience. The general manager was not working so I spoke to a manager that goes by Neil. I explained my experience so far, and he started making possible excuses for the unwanted added protection plan, and that at least they didn't charge us for the drywall sander, theres not much they can do about the appliance delivery because it depends on the manufacturer. He didn't seem to care about my issues and his body language clearly showed he couldn't wait to be done dealing with me. He did say that the price match is totally doable, and had a customer service agent do that for me. At least he did that. Turns out the customer service agent that told me they don't price match on appliances from before, just didn't want to do her job. -I was promised appliances on November 18th, then December 3rd, then December 15th, and now they are saying I will receive them December 31st. I understand delays but at least have better communication with the manufacturer and be up front about it, instead of rescheduling 3 times. To make it even worse, they charged my credit card when I placed the order and I am paying interest on appliances I don't even have. I wish they charged upon arrival. Here is hoping we receive them on the 31st. I will say that there have been a few people working there who have actually been very helpful. There is a tall husky gentleman with reddish blond hair who went above and beyond to help me and even taught me some new things to help with the reno. It's the few workers like him who keep this location afloat. read more

One lady went to find someone from the department to help me; 20 mins later, I'm still standing there waiting. I live less than a mile from this store but will not return!! Everything is good about this Home Depot other than the rat infestation in the garden department. In the outside part in the corner against the building it smells like urine and rats are visibly running around there. They are not even shy of people anymore so I've seen them my last three visits. Big hygiene problem and I don't even want to know what kind of deadly diseases are lurking there on the items for sale, ready to be touched by the unknowing customer. I went to this Home Depot on Elson Green and had THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER. i installed a faucet for my sister and when I went to turn the water on the line had a leak. I went here and was helped by Chip. He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He explained everything and showed me the appropriate plumbing items that I needed. I was able to go back and fix the leaky valve in the bathroom. Then... I tried to turn the main water shutoff valve in the house back on and it kept turning. After calling around to several plumbers and being told it would cost at least $400; I went back to Home Depot, the next day, and thankfully Chip was working again. He once again walked me through the steps of replacing my water main shutoff valve with a sharkbite ball valve and showed me how to add a coupling; Just in case. By the grace of God I was able to follow Chip's Stellar directions and replace my sister's valve. THANK YOU CHIP!!! If any of you reading this need help with plumbing definitely ask for Chip. read more

My Home Depot experience was horrible and may be the worst example of customer service I've experienced in my life. I recall when The Home Depot first opened and you would trip over employees trying to help you find what you were there to buy. This was not the case Saturday morning as I was having trouble locating a shop vac for a home project within the aisles. When I located an orange apron clad wage earner they were less than pleased to be bothered with the location of their product. The response I received was "They are on the tool aisle did you not see them? , Well look again I know they are there." I was determined to find it at this point without further assistance from the all too happy to help orange ray of sunshine. Okay, I find the product and proceed to check out. Of course my Saturday would not be complete without a line at the hard ware store, and the ONLY lines open are the self check out with three of the four occupied. I proceed to the only open one and complete seven steps of a fifteen step transaction and to my dismay this lifeless transaction handling machine will only accept cash. I'm immediately seeing red and abort the transaction mid process to return to a line with a patron in their golden years. This gentleman through no fault of his own is completely oblivious in the digital age and requires help to complete his purchase; obviously the one attendant in charge of these four stations observes this and asks if she can help. Thank God finally someone is interested in expediting the process enabling me to return to my planned activities. She helps the gentleman by pushing the appropriate touch screen buttons enabling him to swipe his card, and it was at this point she leaves and asks me "are being helped?" I explain to her that I previously tried to check out at the other register and she would need to reset it so the next consumer could check out unobstructed. It was through her body language that I read she had not listened to a word I said and was confirmed when she responded "well thank you for your patience waiting on this gentleman and she returned to other stations. I glance back at the oldest living man in the world to observe him hitting the "I would like to be emailed a receipt button."UGGHH! Obviously he gets stuck again and I'm happy to perform the hirelings job for her by helping the gentleman COMPLETE his transaction. I scan my merchandise, set it on the table, swipe my card, collect my receipt, pick up my merchandise and exit the largest pain in the ass situation I've encountered in a long time. As I walk across the busy parking lot I hear a ladies elevated voice asking someone to stop!, they did not pay for their merchandise. The voice repeats and gets louder. And again a third time even louder asking them to return and pay for their merchandise. A fellow customer stops me and informs me she is yelling at me! As I turn around she is obviously upset, convinced I've stolen a shop vac and ask me to return and pay. I'm EXTREMELY aggravated with the entire situation and hurl the vacuum at her feet and hand her my receipt. She informs me I did not complete my transaction without looking at my receipt and it becomes clear she has looked at the station I previously stated was left in mid process. UNBELIEVABLE! I'm a victim of her not being able to listen intently. Needless to say I wont be returning anytime soon. Doesn't anyone train their employees to LISTEN, COMPREHEND, FOLLOW THROUGH, AND TREAT CUSTOMERS WITH RESPECT? What a bunch of Derelicts. read more
