They showed up early to the appointment and using red dyes and an underwater microphone identified that our leak was in the light fixture not any of the pipes! Extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience. I was only informed after 5 PM the night before that the pool needed to be filled to normal levels for the leak detection appointment. I live over 30 minutes from the property and would have appreciated more notice to plan accordingly. We had a 2 PM appointment scheduled the following day. I took time off work and drove to the property to make sure everything was ready. I sent multiple text updates throughout the day showing the pool's progress, but received no response. When I finally called at 3 PM, I was abruptly told the appointment was canceled because he was "too far away." This is some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Communication: 0/10. They both spoke perfect English and did a great job with explaining the scope of the work. They have some sophisticated diagnostics tools and experience in detecting pool leaks. After find the leak he explained the repair option (patch vs permanent repair). I elected to patch for now and he gave me a ball park price if I elect the more permanent repair in the future. Joe Fernandez, who owns Dr. Pool Leaks, is not a bad guy. But I had a bad experience with his company. I had a leak in my pool and I suspected that it was from a bad plumber I hired who hit a pool pipe and never fixed it. I needed to find where the leak was coming from and wasn't sure if it was under a structure in my house. So I hired Dr. Pool Leaks to find the leak. They sent me back a video showing me that water was coming from under my house. I paid them $300 because they 'found' where the leak was coming from. They then quoted me an additional $1250 to fix the leak because they said (and it looked like) it was under the structure. I agreed to do it for $1000. Oddly, only after two hours I received a few pictures saying everything was fixed plus a cash app request to pay them. So I paid them in total $1300. Then I looked at the actual pictures of what they actually did and I started to realize I had gotten played (or at least it felt that way). I then called Joe and said how I felt. At first he almost did a Jedi mind trick on me and told me 'his guy got lucky' and it just wasn't that difficult. I told him that I didn't think it was luck but a misdiagnosis. All they needed to do was dig six inches and they would have realized where the leak was coming from. What they should have done was realized they misdiagnosed it and given me a call for a more fair price. No Joe he didn't get lucky, he didn't adequately detect where the actual leak was coming from and I had the wrong information and then made a decision off the wrong information. Joe said he didn't look at the pictures when he forwarded them to me from his guy because the pool detection guy and the repair guy are different but that is hard to believe. But he has been in the business long enough to know that a $1000 repair that takes only two hours to fix probably was a misdiagnoses which I paid $300 for. The only reason I'm giving him two stars and not one is because he did give me some money back (which is a miracle in a place like Miami). After talking to Joe he tried to give me back $400 but I asked him 'What is the number you think will make this right?' He eventually got to $600 for a refund. He told me he was losing money and all he cared about was doing the right thing. He also told me this job is normally $300 for the leak detection (which they misdiagnosed) and then $550 for a repair like this. If I had known where the actual leak was coming from I would have paid them $300 and had somebody fix that pvc pipe for at most $75. Instead I paid $700 for this repair. Take a look at the pictures for yourself before you choose to go with this company. I think the number that would have made me happy since they actually misdiagnosed the leak and overcharged me was more like $400 for everything. But Joe, next time a customer asks you what's the number you think to make this right you should turn around and ask the customer what is the number it will take to make it right in their eyes. Again, Joe is a nice guy but I feel like he didn't actually take responsibility for this and I had to convince him that his detection guy didn't 'get lucky' to use his phrase. This review is a bit late but better late than never, to start we had a pool leak in our newly constructed pool, so in looking for good leak companies we came across Dr.pool leaks, and we are glad We did. They scheduled our appointment and came by at the time they scheduled it, they brought some high tech pool detectors and took their time swimming and identifying the leak, after taking time to review all possible areas on where the leak might be, they where not able to detect the leak. However they came back a 2 time and took more time under, unfortunately the leak was still not found. However they are very thorough and beyond professional with their work.. eventually we did find our leak and it was a structural one that we found once our finish company did an acid wash since our finish was not up to par with how it's supposed to look. Dr. Pool Leaks came very highly recommended by a coworker. I contacted them via email on a Friday night and by Saturday early morning Joe had contacted me. We discussed what was happening with my pool's water level and right away he told me there may not be a leak but evaporation. After going over the details, he gave me the price to do the test but he insisted that we conducted a bucket test before me incurring the charges for their services unnecessarily. He instructed me how to do the test correctly and I did the test a few times to make sure. Joe took the time to go over the results of each test and explain to me why he didn't think it was a leak. At the end, he concluded it was evaporation due to the very dry spring we are having and I did not need to pay for a leak test. I cannot remember the last time someone took the time to help me determine their services were not needed. This kind of honesty and respect for the customer is very hard to find.
