I've been coming to Dr. Said's office for many years and I always know that she is running behind and takes over a lot of patients but I appreciated her kindness and she will take her time to give me tips for my skin etc.. even when she was in a rush. Each time I've gone, she is always in a rush, you can see the way she talks, she moves, she examines you etc... However, today I had the worst experience I've ever experience myself with a provider, not ever has a doctor only spent 2 mins with me, doctor if you see this, I was crying not because of my skin issues but because I felt so rushed and no time to even ask questions, I was frustrated and had just shut down. I had even written down my questions and had no time to speak or bring them up, she was so rushed and her offices was full of patients. I was referred to a dermatologist by my primary doctor for two different skin conditions and instead of going to the referred doctor, I came to see Dr Said thinking that it was going to be better since she had seen me before. I don't think she even looked at my chart, I had emailed my pathology results to the office. She only focused on one of the skin conditions and didn't bother to look at my records. I had no time to talk, ask questions, she looked at one lesion for 20 seconds and she was already writing what she was going to prescribed. I try to bring the second skin condition and she didn't bother to examine me again. My appointment was at 12:30pm and I had arrived at 12:20 but she didn't make it to my room until 1:30 and when I say that she was there for two minutes, I am not lying, I looked at my phone and two minutes is what she spent with me, she was out of the room by 1:32 pm. As a patient I felt very ignored, disappointed and not heard and frustrated that I had to wait an hour to get two minutes with no time to ask questions. My best friend just went to a dermatologist and she even came out with a mole removed because her dermatologist took the time to examine her whole body for any possible skin issues and to ask questions. I read the comments from yelp and it seems that others have had the same experience. She overbooks patients and doesn't provide the right time to the patient and she is always in a rush She told me that I had aczema from our last appointment and trying to blame me for not taking care of myself, not once on the previous appointment did she told me that or diagnosed me with anything, she had said I had a rash probably from sweat. Now it makes sense that I've been getting all these rashes randomly. I'm very dissatisfied on today's experience, she is a sweet doctor but I am doubting that she is genuine and that she cares for her patients. read more

Dr. Said was able to see me right away. I was concerned over a change in a small bump on my shin. I called in the morning and she had me come in that same day. My wait was not too long, she saw my issue and treated it quickly and I left relieved. I appreciate her treatment and willingness to see me on such short notice. She genuinely cares about her patients' best interests. As someone prone to basal cells, squamous cells, and numerous pre-cancerous spots, I found her approach refreshing and thorough. I came in to have a birthmark looked at. What I got as a bonus was being pressured to address my hair loss. I told the doctor no because a specialist has me in chemical menopause for the next few months, and I've already been instructed to take biotin and other supplements. She tells me "menopause doesn't cause hair loss and biotin doesn't work." Also, she said "get educated." I should've left at that moment, but hurray for sunk cost fallacy... I took the day off work to get this done and had already wasted too much time in the waiting room. She ignored my insistence that I wasn't interested in treating hair loss. She gave me a printed list of treatments and she had circled several of them for hair loss. Lo and behold, one of the main ingredients in a supplement she recommended is biotin. Why suggest a treatment that contain biotin if--according to you--biotin doesn't work? Is it greed? Incompetence? Misinformed? Neither of them is a trait I'd want in a doctor. I went in to inquire about a painful infected blackhead producing an equally painful infected cyst being removed from my neck. Dr. Said proceeded to inform me like I was uneducated about the lump on my neck being a cyst from a blackhead. Dr. Said informed me that they don't remove cyst anymore because it's not worth filing for the insurance. She also said that my skin type tends to keloid and scare very easily. My skin type or color she meant is of the black culture. She did prescribe me some antibiotics for the infection, but said if it does not work I could go to the ER and see if they can remove it. After saying such unprofessional statements to me she proceeded to try and up sale me by asking me what I use on my face. I said I use soap and lotion. Dr. Said said she strongly recommends me using sunscreen on my face. She mentioned seeing how I have a darker skin type she recommends the sunscreen she proceeded to grab, pour in my hand and said to put on my face. Completely ignoring me while I was saying no that's ok. FYI - my skin is clear and I've always been complemented and how great my skin looks and what I use -- just soap, water and shea butter lotion. I may be a truck driver now, but I have a medical background and have worked in the industry for a while along with working in Corporate America so I'm not uneducated. If she truly understood keloids, she would know that is hereditary and not by skin type. She would also know not to put product on anyone without first asking if they had any allergies or skin sensitivity. Same process of asking if a person is allergic to any medications before prescribing it. Personally, I felt completely ignored as my concern was the pain. It wasn't a minor pain, it was a movement restrictive pain and my concern of it being cancerous. I also felt like she saw "black skin" and not me...that my concerns was a waste of her time and to make up for the waste of her time she wanted to sale me product. Today I was seen by Dr. Said. This was for a 2nd opinion. I was self pay. $250. Appointment was less than 30 minutes. I came in with a list of concerns and she went through it so fast, I really didn't catch it all. She then says to call and ask if I didn't get everything. My records were hand written and illegible. I had to call back and ask how will get the medication. I had to ask them to email them to me all the medication, because I couldn't read her writing. She did give me some new prescription, so it wasn't a total waste, but for $250 self pay I really excepted better service from her. Not sure I would return. We paid out of network because we excepted better service than our HMO plan, but guess not. read more

Not very impressed with the doctor nor the staff. Unprofessional staff who don't want to bother to look up the coverage of your insurance. This was my first time visiting this doctor. Instead of doing what I wanted her to do, she had her own reasoning why it should or shouldn't be done. It felt like no matter what I asked her, she simply didn't want to do it and started lecturing me why some things need or shouldn't be done. Not a professional attitude, came across very arrogant. When I left her office, I was thinking what a waste of time and money. Now, I have to find another doctor who hopefully will take care of the things that she didn't want to take care of. If you have a serious skin condition, you like a direct, unempathetic approach to health care, and enjoy a lecture on health concerns other than your skin conditions she is the doctor for you. She will not beat around the bush and will address issues you didn't ask for advice on. I will say this, I know that it came from a place of genuine concern (hence the 2 stars), but I felt judged and belittled. Fact is, she is aware of her approach and even acknowledges that you as a patient may not like her. I suffer from psoriasis and upon making my appointment with Dr. Said the scheduler asked what I was being seen for, I stated psoriasis. I show up to my appointment and Dr. Said tells me she does not treat psoriasis as she is too busy doing surgeries for patients that fly in from all over to see her. But she sure was happy to bill my insurance for the visit. Additionally, she made comments about how people choose to spend money on nice clothes (which I was wearing) rather than paying cash to see certain doctors. I was recommended to Dr. Said and like many of the other reviews found her approach very off-putting. I have no idea if she is a good dermatologist because I couldn't get past the arrogance, abrasive, and annoyed manner in which she addressed me. If she had a more humble disposition perhaps she would get even farther in helping her patients. She actually told me (see other reviews) she had more important ($$$) patients to see and that the treatment I was asking for was 'hardly any money' for her to make. Then she tried to sell me on skincare/anti-aging products. I went in asking for medical treatment not for any aesthetic reason... A better bedside manner would instill more confidence. Dr. Said has been the dermatologist for my family for years. She has been helping us out with preventative care and also eczema issues. She is thoughtful and very intelligent. I feel she is extremely up to date on her medical knowledge. I have been to her office numerous times for different issues and always feel that she takes the time to listen and care for me. Her staff is very kind and always willing to answer my questions. I feel confident and comfortable in her care. I have recommended her to many of my friends who also really like her. As others have reviewed, ridiculously inconsiderate of people's time. I took my elderly father, who has melanoma and other issues, for a skin check. Showed up 10 minutes early and sat in waiting room, which was completely packed (a sign of overscheduling). After 1 hour watching women parade in for fillers and Botox, I asked my dad why are we still waiting? My dad said he waited this long the last time. He's retired, I'm not...so I got up, told the receptionist to cancel his appointment, and walked out... never to return. Dr. Said dealt with a 1 inch Basal cancer cell on my cheek near my eye. As a model, this is extremely detrimental to my job to have a scar on my face. She told me not to worry, she specializes in this. It's a year later and I couldn't be happier:) There is no scar and people are amazed by the work. I can't believe she sewed up such a big hole and there is no tension in the skin on my face, It doesn't even show when I smile! How on earth she got the skin to cover such a big hole and have my eye close with no problems is incredible. (I posted a picture of the work) I'm also happy she got rid of all the cancer and put me at ease about it. Yes she is a little more expensive than other dermatologists, but she is a Specialist. She seems like a professional (So, I thought). Today, is my second visit to her office and I am very disappointed with lack of communication with her staff as I do not approve people answering questions they don't know answers, too. The reason for my first visit is to check if my moles are cancerous before I make the next step to remove them and I felt I made it very clear with her staff and then a biopsy is taken and I get the results back cancer free which is great! (But) her tone wasn't convincing, so I made a second call to speak with someone else who gives me a completely different answer. Frustrated, I make an appointment to see her again to speak with someone who is a professional. (Laughs). Immediately, she tries to sell me cream and when she finds out I have plenty her tone of voice changes and this time I feel she is rushing me out her office. A TRUE professional will admit when she is at fault and will take full responsibility that it is clearly lack in training her staff and not play the pity card how she is the only doctor there. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth and I do not recommend coming here. ...so, I'm going to get a second opinion and WILL NOT be coming back. P.S. Own up and TAKE responsibility for your lack of training. read more

Dr. Said is truly a breath of fresh air... and she has always been this way for as long as I have known her which is over 30 years. She has been our Dermatologist for many years, more years than I can count. Dr. Said is not only exceptional in her field but possesses a consistent compassionate heart. My younger son is Autistic and Dr. Said is always amazingly patient with him. My eldest son trusts her immensely. We wouldn't trust anyone else but her. Her administrative staff is sweet which again is a reflection of her. She truly cares for her patients and spends time with you which is lacking in so many Dr.'s, now more now than ever, but with Dr. Said, pandemic or no pandemic she remains consistent and that's a true sign of an exceptional doctor. read more

Her wrong diagnosis for my acne situation irritated my skin. She gave me the wrong medication after seeing me twice and when I contacted her she said that I need to see her again (obviously to pay more money). I went to the dermatologist through my insurance and showed her the medication that doctor Said had prescribed for me and my doctor said that it has a big affect on the hormones and that's what is causing the irritation! It's all about buying products in doctor Said's office, she asks her patients to buy the products that she sell in her office that you can find. She was very rude to me!! read more

I've been going to her for years and years. I appreciate her kindness, sense of humor, and high standards of practice! I saw her for my acne concerns in high school, and she always uplifted me as she gave me great care. She always said stuff like "It's looking much better! But I need to make it more perfect" and she did. I also appreciate that she worked with me to try lots of different things before trying accutane. Fast forward a decade later, I recently saw her to treat some of my acne scars and the results have been amazing. I couldn't recommend her more strongly! read more

Dr. Said has helped me with a "scaly skin" problem on my lips. The problem would come and go over a period of 6 months. She was persistent in getting me a cream that resolved the problem. She is confident, attentive, and never gives up. I had tried several remedies without resolution. She got it right and I couldn't be more pleased. I went to Dr. Said once (without checking reviews, my mistake), and left in tears. I had never been treated so horribly by office staff in my life! Dr. Said was a bit better, but very cold and quick. At the end of a very rushed exam, she wrote up 2 prescriptions before she had even told me anything was a concern. She has no bedside manners. One of the prescriptions she gave me was Carac, a pre-cancer treatment. I used as she recommended, and 2 months later my face is still scarred! My skin was perfectly smooth before, and now I have cracks all over my cheeks. I went to a different dermatologist to get a check-up on the treatment and she said their office never would have put me on such an aggressive treatment. I'm hoping this isn't permanent! read more

I could see how some people could say she's "mean." Dr Said is not an outwardly compassionate person, and her personality is very "strictly business." That being said, I didn't have too much of an issue. My mom referred me to her. I was thirty minutes late to my appointment because I had gotten the time mixed up, and I only waited about fifteen min for my appointment. Dr Said gave me a full body exam, and did a biopsy on one spot. I was nervous, but she was quick to explain the procedure to me to calm my nerves. It took all of two minutes, an I didn't feel a thing. She did prescribe me a list of things to take for my face and arms, and suggested I see my endocrinologist to discuss possible PCOS. Overall, the only complaint that I had was that I didn't get a conformation call, and the younger receptionist is very short and rude, the blonde receptionist is very helpful! read more

Looking for a good Dermatologist in this area and read some of the reviews, and I'm just curious, has anyone told this doctor about her staff? I refuse to deal with poor service, especially when paying high prices like what it cost to see a dermatologist. I had to tell a doctor one time about one of his staff people and how rude they were. While I was checking out to leave he called her into his office. I don't think he knew I could hear him but he told her under no circumstances was it okay to be rude to patients. And if it happened again she could be terminated. The majority of these reviews are great. But there are plenty of good dermatologist in the OC not to have to deal with this kind of service.
