I wanted the issue dealt with in a way that was less invasive, with a procedure that is less common in Canada. Dr. Maloney had never done the procedure before but she was willing to read up on it, and I had it done a couple weeks ago. I was supposed to do this procedure last year but had to hold off because of personal reason. I've already did consult last year but Terry wanted to do another one to make sure all my concerns and questions are addressed. I used to go to a different skin clinic before. Unfortunately, the other clinic has gone too busy and too commercialized. The personal touch is gone in my opinion. One thing I like about The One Skin is how they make you feel they care about you. Terry is very kind and you can feel his sincerity. The whole procedure took almost 3 hours including post care. I'm not going to lie. The procedure is painful but tolerable. The numbing cream really helped. The package I bought includes 3 sessions of Scarlet RF, 3 post procedure care and 3 peeling treatments done 2 weeks after SRF. He is the best doctor I've ever had. I have found that 99% of doctors want you to get in and get out as fast as possible. They aren't interested in you as a person and see you more as a number than a person. Many offices only allow you to talk about one issue per session. If you came in for a cold but also had a weird rash you could only talk about one or you'd have to set up a second appointment. Dr. Ketene, on the other hand, will check on what you came in for and then ask you simply how you are doing otherwise. About a year ago I went in for a rough cold and then after he checked me out he asked how I was feeling in general, I mentioned I've been sleepy a lot and have had a sore throat for about a week or two before my cold came on and he decided to send me for some assorted blood tests just to see if I was okay. Turned out I had mono!! I never would have known if he had not asked how I was doing. Amazing. He is never in a rush and yet I am rarely waiting more than 10mins past my appt time. He is incredibly thorough, relaxed, professional and kind. I would recommend him to anyone who wants someone they can relax around. Also, he has the best sense of humour I've ever seen in a doctor. The way my friend originally referred me to him is by saying "Yea, he's a cool doctor. Kind of reminds me of Seinfeld..." That sounds about right. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

He is very caring and takes his time with each person. I am aware that often you have to wait and sometimes it's a long wait but I plan for this but you know when it's your turn, you will get his full and undivided attention. I never feel rushed with him. I think I'd rather that than a doctor who is on time but feels rushed. I always have a phone call now if I don't need to come to the office because then I can go about my business and just take the call when it comes in.

Battery…read moreof repetitive blood tests, still more chest X-rays, multiple breathing tests (why should there ever be more than one?) - no further ahead. Treatment consisting of ineffectual, previously rejected puffers actually made me worse. Prompted initiation of emergency 5-day Prednisone course prescribed previously by GP, thank goodness. Called doc for advice when Prednisone didn't work hoping to prevent visit to ER. Zero response. Nada. Either staff failed to pass along msg or doc ignored. As a result, ended up at ER, where attending doc gave shaming lecture: 'WHY don't you have a respirologist? Not an allergist - a respirologist! Are you stupid... etc.' ER docs don't grasp that consumers have NO control over the specialists who treat us. It's as if the law of battery doesn't exist in Canada. Hoped ER doc might make referral to respirologist. No such luck. That would be too easy. Just shaming lecture, another round of Prednisone and decongestant that actually worked unlike Dr. Wadi's. No idea how Dr. W made it through medical school. This is someone who has to be told repeatedly patient does not have a medical degree, please use plain English. Similarly told more than once to refrain from abbreviations not meaningful to anyone without medical expertise. This is someone who during clinic visit turns her computer screen to face the patient as if patient w/o medical training should read and interpret our own medical test results! Clerical support too inept to perform even the perfunctory task of obtaining patient's records from GP without intervention from patient! Gallingly, doc actually complained to patient about treatment protocols, which are determined not by patient but by her licensing body. Surely it is the responsibility of each doc to understand, argue against and, if necessary, overcome obstacles to treatment when it's in patient's interest to do so! Had I not pleaded a persuasive case to GP to obtain consult with respirologist Dr. Wadi likely would have continued billing multiple visits no matter how clearly ineffectual and even harmful her treatment proved. Formal complaint to the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons to follow for preventable visit to ER in breathing distress. Maybe Dr. W is competent with easily identified food allergies - milk, gluten, etc., the low-hanging fruit of allergy practice - maybe, but never for a respiratory matter - NEVER. And never for any illness for which time may be of the essence. This is a doc who would rather apologize to your family when you die a preventable death rather than risk pleading with overseers for a more qualified expert approach.
