I consider myself a pretty good judge of when food is good and what is just toxic. I don't understand these high ratings for this restaurant. This is the first time in a long time that I had to throw away my lunch because it was so terrible and so inedible. The beef was boiled and old in my Shezuan Beef. Even the rice was stale. It was a terrible experience. read more

Had the worse Chinese food here. Being vegetarians we ordered the sesame tofu and General Tso's tofu. Both were tasteless and the tofu was overfried, chewy and dry. The Broccoli in garlic sauce was the worse we have ever eaten. Broccoli was completely raw and thrown into a brown tasteless sauce. Think they forgot to cook it in the sauce. The vegetable Lo Mein was definitely pasta and had no vegetables at all. To make matters worse everything was really oily! Sorry but not sure how this restaurant gets all the great reviews. We did call them and let them know about the poor quality. They offered to have us bring the order back and redo our order, but we opted not to take them up on that offer. Got a pizza instead and threw all the Chinese food in garbage. read more

I had such high hopes for this restaurant when I read all the glowing reviews and heard it was one of the best Chinese food spots in the area. Maybe I had it on an off-night. Ordering was easy enough, and the menu had many of the classics you'd expect. The woman working was perfectly lovely. I ordered the shrimp and broccoli, shrimp lo mein, and general tso's chicken. It was reasonably priced and all. I did have an issue trying to pay as I didn't realize they didn't take a certain card. They have a sheet of plastic covering the counter and cashier area, and it's a pretty small place inside. My food was hot, but it lacked flavor for me. It was quite bland. The shrimp was on the fishy side, and they were overcooked. The chicken didn't have much flavor either, and the texture of it was a bit odd for me. read more

There is a girl that loves this place so much, she got a tattoo of it. Then they made a movie about her. "The Girl With The Dragon City Tattoo." I call this place "Dragon Pity", because I really wanted to like it, but I just don't. In all honesty, it's a 2 or 3 star place for me, but (a) the service is really nice, unlike some Chinese places in the area (cough cough Peking Quick One China King Golden Wok cough cough), (b) the prices are incredible, some of the deals are even better than rival Chinese joints, with just $3 for Crab Rangoon and just $7 for generous combos, and then (c) it's in an area that doesn't have any really good Chinese... all the best ones are up in Amherst. Unfortunately the area still doesn't have any good Chinese, because this place really isn't good. I guess it's "standard", but it's also hyper-sweet, so unless you like your Chinese food with a hefty dose of maple syrup, stay away. Then again, most of you reading this are Americans, so syrupy sweet might be right up your proverbial alley. (hugs) The Shrimp Curry was one of my least faves that I've had in town. It was mostly veggies, it wasn't very wet, the rice was average, and there were probably only 3 shrimp in the whole thing. It was basically veggie curry with a couple of shrimps added as garnish. I wouldn't order it again. The dirt cheap Crab Rangoon tasted of nothing at all to me but sugar. If there is a "sugary honey flavour cream cheese" out there somewhere, I think they used it inside these crab rangoons. So I don't recommend this Chinese place at all, but I think they're lovely people with great prices in a sleepy area that needs more late night stuff, so I'll give them a 4 because even though I don't like it, you may well. And it has nice decor and is clean and a sweet place to sit and eat. I'm really sorry that I had to rag on Dragon. At least they don't use Ragu. Then they'd have to change the name to Ragu City. read more

This is one of the best places for Chinese in Buffalo. When you walk in, it's a small shop with two workers in the back. It's a cute ma and pa small business. We got the orange chicken, kung pao chicken, and hei men. Everything was incredible. The kung pao chicken wasn't as fried as I get it from other places, so it felt a lot healthier. The orange chicken was so flavorful it tasted like straight up oranges. Overall, I would definitely come and order back here again! read more

May 2020: I gotta say this is one of my favorite Chinese take out locations. They have pretty much everything on the menu and you can't go wrong ordering from here. We personally enjoy their sweet and sour chicken, lo Mein and Szechuan chicken! The crunchies that come with the meal are better than other places too! Their lunch deal is pretty great and reasonable enough with a good portion. I'd say their wonton soup is okay, not the best. Overall it's a great go too place for Chinese! They are very quick too!! read more

Just ordered a quart of egg drop and fried dumplings, 25 minutes. We received our order in 55 minutes. Terrible , terrible in food ready times. Waiting area filled with people just waiting. This was not the first time for this.............. Never again coming back. If you can't meet your times don't take the order. read more

This is hands-down the best takeout Chinese restaurant in Clarence New York. Me and the wife where going through Yelp looking for places in our area which we live only 3 minutes away. Decided we didn't want to fancy just kind of quick.. many reviewers have said this was probably one of the best in town so we took a shot and ordered... general tso's chicken with no broccoli, Curry chicken Small chicken lo mein We only waited 10 minutes for the food and it was amazing and steaming hot. the chicken was tender and general tso's chicken was tender and slight crispy which is the way I love it. By the way the portions were huge!! The lady doing the transaction very nice and polite. We are so happy to find a place like this so close to home we will definitely be going back on a regular basis. read more

So glad a Chinese take out place made it to the area. It's right across the street from my shop, so my employees and I were very excited to try Dragon City. We ordered crab Rangoon which was the BEST I have ever had! I ordered the sesame chicken lunch special and my employee had the chicken w broccoli, both were very delicious! When I went in to pick the food up, of course because it brand new it is super clean! They also have about 8 tables that sit 4 people each, so if you want to dine in, you can. So glad to finally have Chinese in our hometown neighborhood! AND it's really good! Great value for fresh delicious Chinese in a clean welcoming environment. They did a nice job with renovations even though they are in an old strip mall and you wouldn't expect more than the typical Chinese take-out. Let them pleasantly surprise you! read more

Dragon City fills a much noted void in this area for Chinese take-out / dine-in. The menu, dishes and pricing are typical for WNY and service - during their Grand Opening - is swift and polite. They have a lunch specials menu of over 25 items (served 11-3) for only $4.65 as well as combo platters (with fried rice and an egg roll) for $6.95. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken combo which came out within 5 minutes. It was hot, tasty and fresh although the chicken pieces were a little on the large size. It's hard to be dainty with your chopsticks. The egg roll was hot but had far too much oil in it. I'm most likely going to skip that on my next order. The restaurant seats about 36 and the guys behind the counter are energetic and enthusiastic. Good location for Dragon City. Welcome to the community. read more

Such high quality Chinese food. Better than your typical Chinese take out, and best Chinese food in the area. They have a great lunch special that is pretty good-sized. Chicken with broccoli is fresh and crisp, and the general tso never disappoints. Their shrimp fried rice is also top notch and the food is always ready so fast!!!! read more

This is the best fast food Chinese take out I have had, ever. I have only had Chinese this good at a more expensive formal restaurant. The chicken did not seem to be pre- processed and there were nice size bits of vegetables. The egg roll was crisp outside and not greasy. The won ton soup has very flavorful broth, and the wonton meat was tender. Even the fortune cookie was fresh. read more

I always think of South Park when I order from here. Always solid food, family business, good people and super quick turnaround on the take out. I've never been told anything other than 15 minutes and it's usually an over/under of 12. Good on ya. read more

Standard American Chinese, but everything tastes really fresh and each dish has its own flavour. The food is decently cheap, too. It's a little out of the way for us, but clearly worth the drive. The eggplant in garlic sauce is very good, and the Sichuan chicken and beef are both, though not too spicy, very tasty. read more

For my first visit I'm giving a 2 star rating. We desperately would like a great, close, Chinese food option in Clarence. All of the Decent choices are in the Amherst area and take a bit to get to. We ordered 2 combos, steamed dumplings, lo mein, and wonton soup. The Good: General Tso price I felt as fair. The restaurant was clean, and the staff pleasant. The Ok: the chicken was overcooked and seemed greasy. That was the same for the Spring roll that accompanied the meal. Extreme greasy. The steamed dumplings had a very bland taste. Wonton soup was ok but both kids and bride described the meat as " mushy". The lo mein was average. For our first try we all agreed that the food was not that impressive. The extra drive will be worth the better food. We did all think that a second chance was in order as they get the first few months under their belts. Will try again in another month. I desperately hope they improve the quality. read more

Just ordered them for the first time. We got their Sweet and Sour Chicken and Beef and Mushroom combo meals. Well all both were absolutely delicious! The beef was tender and melted in your mouth. Not one bit of chewy fat. The chicken also was delicious. Everything was fresh and tasty. None of the fried rice had clumps in it. Highly recommend to anyone in the mood for Chinese! read more

This part of WNY ( Clarence / Williamsville ) is a little starved for good / fast Chinese takeout options unfortunately. I work 5 minutes away and always drive past but have never sampled their food before, however today at lunchtime I had a craving for Chinese and figured i'd give it a shot. Called ahead and surprisingly was told "10 Minutes" :), arrived 9 minutes later and my Sesame Chicken combination platter with Fried Rice and Egg Roll with Crab Rangoon was ready....all for $11 ( Tip, if you want Chinese food, come here and NOT WEGMANS as this same amount there would have required me to remortgage my house ). Very clean / presentable dining area which is rare for Chinese Takeout places. The food was damn good, maybe not up to the scratch of an actual Chinese Restaurant, but for a place like this and for the cost of the food it was incredible...particularly the Crab Rangoons which were HUGE !! If you want Chinese takeout and are within a 5 mile radius of here I don't think you're going to find a better option. read more

I eat here for lunch on a regular basis. Everything is always hot and comes out quickly!!! I would recomend this little place to anyone in the area. The WonTon soup is wonderful as is sweet and Sour Pork and everything that I have tried on the menu. The lunch prices are ridiculously low for the food you get and the quality of the food. read more

The food is fresh and not greasy at all. When trying to eat clean, this is a great option. I usually order the garlic shrimp and on cheat day I'll get some of their crab ragoons. Parking is a bit of a challenge but the food is great. read more

Too much breading/batter on their chicken dishes (general Tao, orange chicken, etc)... Best Lo mein around. Docked a star for the excessive breading/batter ... Literally more than any other place I've ever had Chinese from anywhere. Like, 1/3 of the serving is nothing but clumps of batter. read more

This is a pretty solid chinese takeout place. All the standard fare. Clean well kept place. The food is nothing special, but good for what it is. I really like their lo mein. They are very quick and dirt cheap. Fairly interchangeable with a million other places but the best option in the immediate area. read more

My wife and I love good fresh asian food. Dragon City has it. We have had take out from there several times and each time we were delighted at how fresh the vegetables were. All dishes taste uniquely different. Love the appetizers and the entrees! The staff is always friendly and glad to see you. Whatever you like at other Chinese restaurants, try here. I was happy to see one dish I ordered, the pig intestine with fish, on their picture board above the cash registers. That gave me confidence that they knew what they were doing and it was the best dish by far out of the three I ordered. The intestine was fresh and flavorful, the spice level was high, but also not too salty. It was a lot of food. Only drawback here was the fish (tilapia?) seemed to be heavy on the breading. The other two dishes were disappointing. Penang curry with pork had good vegetables, but the sauce had too little flavor since they went too heavy on the coconut milk. The pork seemed like chicken, not pork. Way too soft and flavorless. The Singapore Chow Mei Fun had good noodles and veggies. But the curry powder was not blended in. Eating it, I could still feel it in powder form. It was also far too oily. Overall, I think they had a lot of options but next time I'd steer more towards classic Chinese, since that seems to be what they do well. I hope next time the flavors will be stronger and blended better (i.e. powders actually stirred in). I'm willing to give them another chance, since they do have a lot of dishes I like. Last note: the online ordering service does not indicate that dishes come with rice. I thought they would have rice by default, but then when I added the penang curry to my cart, it asked whether I wanted rice or noodles or something else. So that made me think I had to order rice separately, which meant I had twice as much rice as I needed. It also said "quart of white rice" was sold out, but "pint of white rice" was not, yet the rice that came with my meal came in a quart container.

I ordered Eggplant with Pork in Garlic sauce with eggroll and white rice, plus a small bowl of Hot and Sour Soup. The soup on the appetizer menu was $3.95. My receipt shows the server put the soup as my lunch choice and charged $2.95 for the eggroll. She never said a word, didn't point out that I could save a dollar by switching the sides around. So the people are all I thought plus kind and conscientious. Marvelous. I was delighted with everything I ate. The entree was enough for two, so supper came home with me. The eggroll was fresh and crisp and non-greasy, seemed homemade. Excellent. The eggplant was perfectly prepared and cooked, as was the pork. Delicious. The hot and sour soup was easily one of the best I've had, and I'm always looking for a great hot and sour soup. Coming from downtown Buffalo, we'd been in Williamsville because I had an appointment on Essjay Rd. Afterward, we looked for a place to have lunch before shopping. Finding Golden Hill at 4001 Sheridan Dr. in Amherst was pure serendipity. You can bet, though, that I will visit again after next appointment.

A small is only $3.95 and it comes with five big pork wontons. Makes me happy because I get wonton soup cravings. I'll definitely be getting this again. The General Tso's Chicken is spot on. The pork egg rolls are good, your typical egg roll. The crab rangoons are also quite good. Their prices are great and the service has always been friendly.
