It has now been over 2 years since I started this journey and have been memorized every time with how professional, flexible to help everyone at different stages, how everyone gets the same respect across the mat from beginner to expert levels and how well he teaches the Children is top notch. Josh and the other coaches are amazing at what they do. This is a contact sport and teaches you how to defend yourself. If you are not comfortable with rolling around with other people this sport is not for you. Its hard work and takes dedication to succeed. If you want real training get ready to get physical. A attacker is not going to care kid, women or other man they are going to do harm to you so train with the best and not worry any more. I have trained at a handful of dojos and all of them have been above and beyond for all the members and their families even. I have 2 boys that have been training to and they love it. They are smiling the whole time because Josh is the best at teaching kids how to cope in every day things. I highly recommend 805 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in simi valley California. Please come in and check it out. Super clean environment and staff is so over nice and makes sure you are ready to go. Ive personally seen Josh stop train the adults and take time with a kid that was upset. With in minutes both are back up and training. If you have kids you know what this means. If your kid has alot of energy think about a sport that is non stop moving. Head on over and check it out. Better then a laptop.

That being said, everyone at 805 was welcoming and encouraging so it made my first day an exciting experience. The instructors are friendly, patient and extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

Wow...all I can say is wow... my kid signed up and within 2 classes the owner was telling me how…read moregreat he was and should join the "Black Belt Club". How in the heck he would know after 2 classes... heaven knows. In the end, what he really meant was prepay (with a small discount) for the next 3 years, in advance and your kid should be ALMOST ready for their black belt. As I got to discover, it is just to pre-pay for 3 years. Nothing more...no great honor... he asks ("invites") any kid / parent that he thinks will say yes. Can't afford it - no problem - just put it on a credit card... can't put it all on a credit card - no problem.... you can break it up into a couple payments... either way... you pay it - even if your kid drops out. He pushes the tournaments and "special camps" to the kids - all of which are a couple hundred dollars - doesn't talk to the parents first. My kid has no idea of the family financing nor family calendar - if we can't attend, I have to break the news to my kid. And the camps - just play dates in the studio - not much for upgrading skills. Great if parents need a place to dump their kid for a few hours. If your kid really learns the skills or not, they will get promoted to the new rank every 3 months. I witnessed many kids not have a good understanding of the forms - but get promoted anyway. Very little discipline - kids come late without consequences, he starts late, ends late, ends early, etc. Where is the discipline? If you want your kid to gain skills and discipline, this ain't the place. The instructor / owner - I have no doubt is skillful and knows his stuff - not sure he can teach it to the age group (6-9 year old kids). Half the time, it looked like the black belts of the studio (some looked as young as 10) were doing more instructing than he was. He seems to be hiding behind the counter looking at his computer. Had to ask - what am I paying for.... All in all... very educational for me on what I don't want in a studio. Not so much for my kids.

I guess he got a black belt in telepathy. ** The constantly pushing of the yearly membership: he kept telling our kids they had special potential. Yeah, special potential to be charged more $$$. I guess he got a black belt in hard sales tactics. *** The always changing prices of the above annual membership: "If you sign up within 7 days, I'll give you a discount." 2 days later: "You MUST sign up by tonight if you want the discount!" I guess he got a black belt in how not to subtract. On the other hand, his wife and daughters were awesome instructors: kind, good at explaining, and never harped for more money. I guess they got black belts in how to run a business.

Hands down the BEST place to book a kids birthday party!!!!…read more Rockin' Kids Play Center truly took care of everything....and I mean EVERYTHING!!!!! As a mom of 3 with all my kids under 5, this was such a lifesaver and completely stress free. Liz was incredibly easy to communicate with and so responsive, and Mia was just as wonderful on the day of the party. Both were kind, patient, and beyond helpful the entire time. I was able to actually enjoy my child's birthday instead of running around, which says a lot. The decor was absolutely beautiful, our guests would not stop complimenting it. I kept hearing "this is the best Hello Kitty party!". On top of that, the play area was spotless and kept all the kids entertained and happy the entire time. A few kids even cried when the party ended... that's how good it was! If you're thinking about booking a birthday party, this is the place!!! Thank you so much Liz and Mia! You both are truly the best and made this day so special for our family. 10000000/10 Highly, highly recommend!

I really wanted this place to work for my family, but unfortunately our recent experiences have…read moremade me decide not to return. My daughter is autistic and non-violent -- she just wants to play and be included. On multiple visits, whenever one particular staff member is working, her kids and their cousins are there, and the interactions with my child have been unkind and exclusionary. During one visit they were taunting her, and on another I had to step in and ask them to stop following her around and telling her she couldn't play with things. Another parent (the father of one of the kids) was standing there and even told them they needed to stop following her if they weren't going to be nice, so the issue was acknowledged in the moment. The situation escalated when my daughter lost her footing in the bounce house and accidentally landed near one of the kids. The child then told her mom that my daughter pinched her, which is not what happened -- I was standing right there the entire time. As a parent, it's really hard to watch your child be singled out or misunderstood, especially in a place that's supposed to feel safe and fun. What was also frustrating was that when I asked the staff member for the owner's email so I could address my concerns directly, she refused to provide it and said she wasn't allowed to share it. I found that disappointing, as I was simply trying to communicate respectfully with management about a serious concern. I'm sharing this because I hope management takes it seriously. This felt avoidable, and I wish the environment had been better monitored so all kids could play comfortably. I ultimately requested a refund for my remaining play days because I no longer feel comfortable bringing my child back.
