Of everything that went wrong, the mishandled payments were the worst. Despite a week of reminders (and offers to just pay myself), they waited until the last minute to submit both IRS and FTB extension payments, using the wrong person's information and an incorrect filing status. I had to call my bank to stop the payments; if they'd cleared, reversing them would've been a nightmare. I then had to re-pay correctly the next day. Because of their timing and errors, the payments were late, which led to a state penalty and exposed me to additional federal penalties. Beyond making what is arguably one of the most serious mistakes an accountant can make, they used my ex's information without consent--a clear breach of trust. For peace of mind, stay away from this firm. read more

The worst service I've ever received. The worst delays. My girlfriend's taxes were forgotten. For anyone reading, yes. They FORGOT ABOUT HER TAXES. Someone was assigned her work, they went on vacation for 2 weeks, I guess they never came back? Her files were dropped, she has been trying to communicate them by email and they let her know (over the phone) that she was forgotten. Wtf. Yes, I concur with the other reviewers - my suggestion is you should run as far as you can because Dragon Tax is the worst. Don't fall for Walter's smiles and all the nice things he says when he courts your business. Because when it comes time to actually file your taxes, Dragon Tax has the worst tax filing service. Terrible communication. Terrible customer service. After my 2022 taxes were filed by Dragon Tax, my new accountant working on my 2023 taxes discovered that there was a mistake in the previous filing. I called Dragon Tax to ask them to file an amendment. All the work they needed is just a few clicks to file the amendment. In fact, I called 3 times and left messages. Did they return my calls? Absolutely not. So yes, you should run as far as you can from Dragon Tax. Learn well from my mistakes here. Do not ever engage with them. I would give them a minus star review if I could. read more

Terrible customer service. Terrible communication. I submitted my documents in a timely manner and was asked for more documents a few days before the filing deadline. The day of the deadline, I received an email that I had to pay my taxes and that they would be filing an extension on my behalf. After following up consistently at least once a week, cc'ing everyone , I finally decided to give them a call. I was then informed that the person that had been working on my filing had left and that my stuff hadn't been filed due to staffing shortages. They also admitted to plainly forgetting about my filing which was incredibly frustrating because I had been following up with them via email for months. While I can understand the stress of being understaffed, going 0 communication for months isn't how you handle it. Especially because I had already paid the full amount due to them for their services. My quarterly taxes were also not timely filed. My taxes were literally ready to just submit. I ended up getting a call back from Leon, their customer satisfaction guy, and he let me know all this stuff. He also tried to gaslight and blame me for not following up with him earlier. I pointed out that I had actually included him in every single one of my emails which ge had apparently ignored because he had nothing to say to that. At the end of our phone call, he let me know my taxes would be filed by the end of the week. This was a frustrating "solution" in itself because I was an upset client desperate to get my filing submitted and the best he could do was make me wait yet another week. As I had fully expected, , my taxes were not filed on Friday as he had reassured me. I followed up the following Tuesday and received an automated status update email but received no response from Leon or anyone from dragon tax. My partner is still waiting to get his taxes filed but is also being ghosted. Honestly should've just filed my taxes myself or hired H&R Block. As a small business owner, I hired a CPA hoping to have someone to help guide me on this new venture. Instead I had to babysit this company just to be ghosted and gaslit . wasted $1000+ on this terrible company. read more

The response from the owner is seriously laughable. Nice childish spin to divert their ridiculous cheap and distasteful customer service and tax preparation service onto payments(Asked to make payments last week of July and he updates a reviews about payment delay by a week as I'm discussing with their team on what the payment breakdown is all about). I received any kind of tax preparation documents only after 4 months, that too after finding their main office number from multiple avenues as they wouldn't lift calls, respond to voice mails or even reply to emails. Tax filers be wary of these guys and stay away from them, I lost so much money on penalties because of delay in filing taxes and relying on these guys is totally avoidable. I onboarded and made payments in March 2022 and I received tax filing documents in end of July 2022. I contacted this firm on Yelp, and they responded quickly to book an appointment. My husband and I were looking for an accountant to assist us with setting up a few businesses, and to eventually do our books and taxes. Dragon Tax & Accounting offers advising, accounting, and tax preparation. It's like an all-in-one package, which I like. We met with Victor, but I was not very impressed with his character. He came off as arrogant, and brushed off a number of our questions. I put a lot of value in who I will be working with. If I'm going to pay for a service, I'd like to work with someone I could get along with. Although their services interested us, I was not enthused to work with Victor. After our disappointing meeting, I was tempted to ask the receptionist if there was someone else who could help us. If you're looking for a convenient, all-around accounting place for your business, this might be for you. However, conveniency comes with a pretty penny--their rates are the priciest we've seen so far. They also offer personal tax preparation, but the rates they gave us were very expensive as well. We had started by using Dragon Financial Advisory Services a year ago to help us develop an investment strategy. Then a few weeks ago we got a letter from IRS that told us to cough up a massive amount of back taxes. The letter said that they were due to an error in our 2014 tax return, but provided no detail as to what was wrong. It just listed the amount we needed to pay, and the due date (which was in 2 weeks time - ouch!). We completely panicked! It was a huge amount that the IRS was asking, without telling us why... We turned to our trusted financial advisors, Vijay and Alfred, and asked if they could help us out. Vijay right away told us not to worry and introduced us to the Dragon Tax & Accounting Services team. On the same day we got a call from Victor and Walter, who put us at ease by saying that they will represent us and talk to the IRS on our behalf, and file an extension if needed. Then in the next week or so they went through our old tax returns and figured out the discrepancy. And they were able to dramatically reduce the amount owed to IRS by uncovering another oversight in that year's tax return!! I used Dragon for filing personal and corporate taxes this past year and I couldn't recommend them more highly! They were truly fantastic! Dragon was my third accountant in three years. Before them, I used individuals, instead of firms. Dragon, in contrast to the previous accountants, was prompt and professional in getting the returns ready and had multiple people check them for errors, so by the time I saw my tax returns they were perfect. Unlike the others before them, Dragon looked everything over and asked me some thoughtful questions. They helped identify a few errors I had made in completing my profit/loss statement. Their cost was also competitive for the area, and even though I got far superior service, I didn't pay far more! They also have a great online portal that made it easy to share all my documents remotely. (The other accountants also had portals, although Dragon's was easier to use and they always confirmed receipt of items instead of just letting you wonder whether anyone noticed you've uploaded new docs.) I was very impressed with their knowledge and the questions they asked about how I structured my business and why I made those choices. As a result, when I moved recently and needed to start a new business, I called up the experts to get their advice. It's a relief to finally have a person I can call and get some accurate advice from. So the pros are: professional, prompt, accurate, knowledgeable, and affordable. There are no cons to list.
