Vegetable Lo Mein Combination plate with meatless fried rice and a spring roll. Very tasty! Especially the rice!
    Carrie C.

I was really pleasantly surprised at how good the food was at Dragon Villa. I've passed it for years, but after a wake nearby, my brother and I grabbed some dinner there. The waitstaff was attention and sat us soon after entering. It was pretty busy. I ended up getting the combination plate, since I'm vegetarian- I got the vegetable lo mein and asked for meatless fried rice instead of the pork one that normally comes on the combination plate. I also was able to substitute a spring roll in place of the egg roll. I'm so glad I got the combination plate because WoW the fried rice was awesome. I'd definitely go back just to get the rice. The spring rolls and lo mein wasn't bad either but I don't like water chestnuts so next time I will ask to omit them!

After we are done notice, no drinks but tea

Starting off with what we got; first the bread is not bad just plain old bread. Then the egg drop soup, it was like a weird goop and I would not recommend. Then we got our other sides, and they gave us the wrong side. Then our main course: not bad, got the shrimp lomein, big portions.P.S.never got my drink i ordered a Shirley Temple

Dragon Villa is super yummy and consistent! Since discovering the restaurant I can say that they have some of the best Chinese food in RI. Drinks are super yummy and cheap (can be on the stronger side but who's complaining)? Servers can be okay.

    Clean hospitable, waiting area

Terrible food, drenched in sauce and a bar that plays plus club music. The food was greasy and we will never be back.

Staff greeted us and got to see it real quick. We and another party was only ones there lunch time. Probably more take out than dine in. Menu selection was huge, so much to choose from. My gf is from china so picked out some noteworthy dishes to try and they did not disappoint! 4/5 stirfry bacon with bamboo shoots was excellent. The bacon is more like the fatty cross section of pork that's thinly sliced. It had a smoky flavor to it which mixes well with the crunchy bamboo and peppers. The spice level was also just right to give the dish a good kick. 3.5/5 fried intestines were also good but just didn't hit as well as the other dishes. Maybe just not crunchy enough. At least also spiced well. 5/5 Salted egg yolk with tofu... I could not stop eating this dish with rice. I don't know what kind of tofu they were using, but it was super silky, but it was also maintaining its form really well in firmness so doesn't break apart in contact. The salty egg yolk flavor balances out with the tofu and rice. It's so it's like a comfort food for me. 4.5/5 beef with Longhorn peppers, definitely on the spicy side, which I love. This dish was a bit softer than normal, but I was fine since we had rice to go with it. The beef strands mixed well with the thin sliced peppers so it was easy chew and the spice packs a punch. Overall, I love this place and will definitely come again when I'm around the area. The menu is so huge that I feel like I have to come back multiple times just to try 80% of the menu.

The host/waiter greeted us with a friendly smile and brought us to our table. I was definitely overwhelmed by the menu. Before ordering I already knew I had to come back because I just wanted to try so many different things. My wife and I, after much head-scratching, decided to go with the salt and pepper squid, and the cumin beef. They were delivered by a charming woman from the kitchen with a big smile on her face. The human beef was perfect. I've ordered it from places where they used too many of those small red chili peppers in it, but this had a well balanced amount of spice for us, a nice kick, but not HOT! It had the perfect amount of cumin and Szechuan pepper, with just the right amount of green peppers and onions. If you aren't a salt fan, you probably already know to avoid something called salt and pepper squid. On the salty side, but it's supposed to be! It was served on a some crispy cellophane noodles with a really tasty mixture of diced vegetables over the top. I couldn't figure out how they had prepared the diced vegetables, but they were delicious. My wife and I kept putting them on our rice. They have a dish that I had only read about, squirrel fish. I absolutely have to go back so I can try that. It looks amazing.

When we went inside, there was only one other party there and no music, so just whispers and the sounds of utensils against plates. There are about 4-5 booths and 1-2 regular tables to choose from. Since l am not familiar with Sichuan cuisine, I had Al help me choose my dishes. I went with the dumplings in chili sauce, fried rice, eggplant in garlic sauce, and chongquin chicken. While we waited, we were given water. The dishes came out at different times. They first served us the dumplings which were really good. The sauce they were in did have some chili sauce, but it was mostly like a sweet soy sauce and really tasty. It came with about 6 dumplings with a perfectly cooked wrapper and filled with flavorful pork - simple but delicious. Next was the eggplant. I was expecting a heavy garlic presence, but it was more like a sweet and sour sauce. The eggplant was very tender, but really hot so we had to wait to let it cool down a bit. The rice came after. I honestly think this was one of my favorite dishes since it was perfectly cooked, great flavor, and good portion. Lastly, the chicken came out. There was a large pile of chicken, but half of it was peppers. The chicken was cut into little bite sized pieces, each fried perfectly. Some pieces were more tongue numbing than others but it was nothing aggressive; very gentle and comfortable numb. I would have liked if there were music, but the no music was fine too; an escape from chaotic reality. Our total was around $50, which wasn't bad for the amount of food we got. I would come back to try other items.

Before this North Providence…read morelocation even existed, I used to be a regular at their old Mineral Spring Ave location back when it was open. Tuesday and Thursday nights, like clockwork. So I've been eating their food for a long time at this point, and one thing I can say is they've always been consistent. The food comes out hot, fresh, and reliably good every time. They also have a huge menu, which I appreciate because not everyone wants the same thing when you go out to eat. You can get sushi, classic Asian dishes, noodles, rice plates, appetizers, pretty much whatever mood you're in. If you like sushi especially, their sushi menu is honestly pretty strong. The restaurant itself has a modern look without feeling cold or overly trendy. Nice atmosphere overall, and there's plenty of parking in the back which makes life easier, especially on busy nights. Now for the couple things that keep it from being 5 stars for me. First, the service robot. I know some people probably think it's cute or futuristic or whatever, but personally I'm not a fan. It actually turned me off enough that I stopped going for a short period. I go out to dinner to interact with people, not Wall-E carrying my fried rice across the dining room. That said, I've been back multiple times since and it feels like they're using it less now, or at least less aggressively, which I appreciate. The other thing is the noise level. The dining room can get loud. Usually that doesn't bother me much, but if you're trying to have an actual conversation across the table sometimes you find yourself repeating things. Still, none of that has stopped me from going back. It's close to home for me in Lincoln, the food is consistently good, and they rarely miss the mark. That kind of consistency is underrated these days.
