It was a Sunday evening. We had just gotten back from Boston on the train and were hungry. I went through my bookmarked places on Yelp and decided on Haus. It was a first for my friend and I; we were in the mood for something yummy, but that wouldn't feel too heavy. It was very close to us, so in minutes, we were in their parking lot. We walked in and noticed its a big space. They have a lot of tables, a bar area, but also booths along the wall. Since there wasn't anyone else there, we look a big booth. One downside is that they don't have physical menus for the food, it's a QR code. To me, it can be overwhelming to scroll through so many options and remember them along the way. We finally settled on shrimp nime chow, pork belly drunken noodles, and Thai style chicken wings. Our waitress was very helpful in giving us suggestions and explaining some of the foods. I am very glad the food came out little by little as it allowed us to eat everything while it was fresh and hot. The wings came out first and they looked magnificent. They were glowing, crispy, and topped with goodness (crispy garlic, sautéed jalapeño peppers and onions). The jalapeño did not make the wings spicy. They did have a tiny hint of spice, but the sweet and savory flavors definitely overshadowed it. I drizzled some of the oil on the plate of the wings back onto the wings, but also on some of the other food we ordered since it was that good. The order came with about 4 whole wings, and 4 drum stick parts of the wing which definitely justified the price. We ate about half of them and took the rest with us. Next, was the nime chow. I noticed they these were made with a little less love since the ingredients inside were not equally dispersed. However, the flavor was good. I wish it had more Thai basil. Lastly, the drunken noodles came out. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, and it came with a good amount of fried pork belly. It was my first time have pork belly as a protein for drunken noodles but it worked really well. The dish was very flavorful, the noodles were cooked perfectly and well coated with flavor. Since we were the only customers there, we received all the attention. We also noticed they had a pretty good playlist going. For everything we ordered, it came out to about $50 which wasn't bad. Door dashed Haus De La Vie on a recent work trip, got the Haus Pho, beef, extra spicy. Pretty on par with good Pho I've had before and pricing reasonable ($15). Broth was flavorful, noodles plentiful, and came with all of the typical Pho toppings (basil, sprouts, mint, jalapeños). Only downside was it being a door dash order, they did not give me utensils, only chopsticks and I'm not that type of person. read more

Absolutely delicious. We stopped here on a whim, and are so happy that we did. We had the lettuce wrap combo, with amazing crispy pork belly and crispy rolls, noodley bits, cucumber, carrot, bean sprouts, hot green peppers, and the obvious lettuce. The two sauces with it were super good -- I particularly liked the jeow som sauce so much that I asked our waitress to spell the name, and she told me she made it herself, and she clearly put joy into it. They sell it separately too -- I think I'm going to marinade some meat in it, and soon. Our waitress also explained that her mom makes their rice udon soup noodles from scratch, so it's a lovely family business! The bar is large, and there's lighting that looks like things might get hopping at night, but here on a Friday afternoon it was quiet and lovely. We will definitely be back. read more

RI Food Fight - Wings 2024: To start off, when we first presented the RIFF coupon, the waiter was a bit flabbergasted (though granted we went on the second day). They started telling us that we had to make a minimum purchase of $50 to redeem the coupon. After a while of back and forth, they finally clarified that there is no minimum purchase but a separate purchase had to be made. We were planning on buying something else anyways, so we left it alone. With the RIFF coupons, you didn't have a choice of flavor and automatically get the sticky wings which were perfectly crunchy underneath all the sauce so I didn't mind that we didn't have a choice. The wings were larger than average which was a great plus. Also got the Drunken Noodles which were very flavorful. Overall would give the food a 5/5 but the service was a bit shakey though the server did try to apologize afterwards. read more

I have visited Haus twice - once before and after their renovation. The newly renovated space is definitely spacious and beautiful! Being Laotian myself, I do think that their food is delicious and feels like I am eating a meal at home. I tried their Khao Piek with crispy pork - the noodles are definitely thinner than I like, but the broth was pretty good. I also tried their papaya salad - super spicy. You can change the spice level. I also tried their Waterfall Steak (Neua Nam Tok) - super yummy. What I suggest is trying their Charcuterie Platter - Lao sausages, Papaya salad (choice of lao or Thai style), Nam Khao, 3 chicken satay, 3 lemongrass beef, and 3 moo ping and add a side of sticky rice. Came to Rhode Island from New York and have to say throughly impressed. We had the pork belly bao buns and the laab Gai as appetizers. Pork belly crispy bao buns soft and complimented by the veggies.laab Gai was flavorful served with lettuce was so delicious and spicy! For entree we had the udon noodles and the mango curry. Both full of flavor well cooked served with fresh ingredients. Our waitress was super nice and attentive even brought us a spice rack with all the condiments including an amazing chili oil. We were on Mineral Spring Avenue and had a craving for some nime chow, and a quick Yelp search led us here. We were greeted immediately upon entering and were told to sit anywhere we wanted. The inside is small and has some tall tables along the windows and some regular tables inside plus some bar seating. We were given a QR code to access the menu online and decided to order a few appetizers. We enjoyed the fried dumplings, nime chow, crab Rangoon, shrimp pad Thai, chicken wings, and pork belly bao buns - everything was fresh and perfectly sauced and seasoned. We also had a Thai iced tea and a Thai iced coffee - which were both sweet and delicious. They prepared several to go orders during our time there, so even if you don't have time to dine in, it's a great place to order ahead and pick up something to take home with you. read more

This is a mom & pop restaurant cooking flavorful and serving Laotian dishes. It can get spicy so make sure you tell your server or rather they usually know to ask anyways but just mention it in case. I ordered drunken noodles which is my go-to bc it has everything I wanna eat, my veggies, proteins, noodles and it's flavorful! And it truly was! The drinks look just as delicious to try. Amazing food!! My girlfriend and I both have allergies and were able to try so many amazing things. First tried this place on doordash and just recently went to the restaurant. I was confused. I thought this might be a French restaurant because...well, it DOES have a French name. Then I remembered Laos was part of French Indochina, a colonial territory of France until they eventually achieved full independence. Yum yum. Tom yum goong (shrimp) soup was aloi mak and whisked me away on a flavor journey faster than you can say "youth-in-Asia." Packed to the brim with plump shrimp that practically screamed "welcome home," it's like a warm hug from my favorite childhood memories growing up in Thailand. People were friendly food was not tasty. The Crab Rangoon was mostly cream cheese and the curry I had was also lack luster.

Not all Asian food is created equally, and certainly not all regional specific foods come out the same. If you like Laotian cuisine or want to try really good Lao food, this place is as good as any to start. We tried a variety of foods as it was our first time here, and everything was really good. From the drunken noodles to the wings, the papaya salad to the laab, all of it was excellent. You can modify the heat level from 1-5. I like spicy and 3 was a good level for me. 5 will likely make you sweat and 1 will give you a hint of spice, but easy to tolerate. I'm also not a fan of the baby corn and asked that they not include it in the drunken noodles. They happily accommodated the request, so don't be afraid to ask. All in all, I would highly recommend checking them out and I look forward to trying their other selections in the near future. read more

First and last visit. We went based on the fabulous reviews. Walking in, you are hit with the smell of hookah, which is only about 6 feet away from the tables. We've been to several places that have offered hookah, but never in such close proximity to dining. On to the food....my husband and I love Thai/Laotian food. How anyone could say that this is the best they've had is incredulous. We got the papaya salad and drunken noodles. Both were just bearable, if that. Black and white furniture and LED lights.... there's a way to showcase MODERN, Asian decor without being overly exaggerated just like everything else.. be tasteful, subtle. They brought him on to me very spicy and I love them. We were blown away by the hospitality and friendliness of the owner, who took the time to greet us all. We were in a large party, prereserved, and the large tray of thr first course was incredible. Crab rangoon, spring rolls, egg rolls, probably the most delicious chicken wings I've ever had, chicken and beef satays. Next up was drunken noodles which were phenomenal! Others in our party had bowls of ramen and were impressed by its flavor. The Lao beer was refreshing and counterbalanced the spice. Heard about this new Lao/Thai fusion restaurant from fellow golfers and had to try after a round today. The menu is vast and key items were on their menu such as my favorite LAD nar, pho and kow piek. Son loves shrimp and said the lad nar was good but prefers a more looser gravy as this was finished with corn starch to thicken the gravy ( typical for many Thai restaurants). My buddy and I had the Pho. The broth was perfectly Thai/ Lao flavors and not overpowering like some Vietnamese places from the star anise, cinnamon and other dry spices. We had ours with tender beef, crispy pork and shrimp. The Thai iced coffee and tea were both good and refreshing. The Haus wings were fried to perfection and we opted for the salty pepper version. First off I believe that every person in this world should have their own opinion and that's absolutely fine. Aside from reading the comments below, I have been coming here with my wife since they first opened and let me tell you my experience. The staff there are very friendly also the mother is the sweetest. A family owned restaurant. The ambience inside of the restaurant is very cute. It is a small restaurant but they do get a lot of customers. My wife and I didn't realize that this was also a Lounge till we saw it on the sign out front. We normally go for an early dinner or takeout. I assume it's more at night. The vibe all depends on the type of crowd that is there. As for hookah, I suggest if you're going to hate and talk negative and don't like the smell, there are plenty more Thai restaurants around the neighborhood without hookah. Everyone has their own preferences and we actually don't mind the smoke even tho we don't smoke it. I remember when they had outdoor dining during the summer and kept the hookah outside to accommodate customers with children eating inside which we thought was very respectful of them. Now let's get to talking about the food. The portions are definitely a great size for the prices. My wife usually gets the pork fried rice and it can definitely feed two. We also get the crab Rangoons which are delicious and way better than a lot of locations. The Haus wings are juicy and crispy! And jumbo sized at that! We just recently tried the sticky wings and they are absolutely finger licking good! We tried just about everything on the menu. Tho in the beginning, they didn't have some items and were sold out which I understand because they were just opening up. My wife and I studied abroad in Laos and Thailand many years ago, and we've been searching for a very authentic restaurant. We also love the larb gai here. It tasted just like the ones we've had over seas. Their pho and kow piak sen is one size. The broth is very comforting and tasteful. We did find it funny that they have fries and tenders here but we're all for it! Love the options! From our understanding this use to be a BYOB establishment. But the owner stated they just recently got approved for their liquor license. You just have to ask as there is no drink menu yet. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. Only downfall is the restaurant size. If they were to get a bigger location, I have faith they would be super busy than they already are now.
