Since 1989, Keith and his crew at Han Palace have been serving high quality Cantonese, Szechuan and Hunan cuisine on West Shore Road in Warwick. Han Palace is one of those places that you bring the family to every week, and they too have a die hard following in the community. And for good reason! You can find Keith there every day, always on the move. When I went, he was the one who took us to our table. I couldn't help by admire the art etched into the glass dividers in the restaurant, and the high backs to the booths allow you an intimate experience with your dining companion/s. While he was camera shy and didn't want to be in a photo (which I can respect) he was more than eager to share his thoughts on his crab rangoon! I mentioned he has quite the fan base for the appetizer and he shared with me that he workshopped his recipe for a bit before settling on what he serves today. For him, he doesn't like a strong fishy taste. Keith also freely shared his secret touches, white pepper and scallions. A note I will remember next time I make my own. When asked for a staff recommendation for what to have with our rangoon, the server suggested the General Tso's Chicken, one of their most popular dishes. Before long the food arrived and I was excited to see what the hype was all about. On first bite, what you immediately notice is these are GENEROUS on the filling. If you like a fat rangoon, this is going to be right up your alley. The taste is cream cheese forward, with the kani and scallions supporting characters to bring it all together. A small warning, be careful how you bite into these, the filling can squirt out!! Normally, I am the type to roll my eyes at ordering General Tso at a Chinese restaurant. It's like the Chicken Tikka Masala of Chinese food. However! I see why this is popular. The chicken was fresh, the slightly crispy texture holding up in the sauce. The sauce was tangy, just the right amount to evenly coat the chicken with some extra for the rice and a level of heat between mild and medium. The rice was a savory hearty base for the chicken. My quest for the best crab rangoon in Rhode Island brings me to the best places. I'm glad to have discovered this community icon, and look forward to my next visit! read more

Han Palace on West Shore Rd. In Warwick is the absolute top when it comes to Chinese food dining. I had the best Chinese food in my life there. Huge portions, perfectly cooked food, great service. The portions I took home fed me for two days. Weather you live in RI or visiting, this is the most delectable experience you could possibly have. These cooks rock for real. read more

Owner allowed poor service and a DRUNK CUSTOMER to get out of control. We will NEVER RETURN HERE. Here's the short version: 1. Restaurant was understaffed so service was very slow 2. I received the wrong entree and instead of apologizing the server argued with me about what I had actually ordered (I was served chicken instead of beef). 3. My replacement entree never came and after 20+ minutes my boyfriend had finished his meal and when I asked about mine I got an attitude and the response "well I can't rush these things." 4. An exceedingly drunk couple next to us had a fight and when the woman left, the guy (who the staff obviously knew because they addressed him by name) let his phone ring on top volume over and over and kept yelling "go f yourself" and kept groaning. 5. I told the server I wanted to just pay for what we ate and just get going, we STILL had to wait for the check because the server was comforting the drunk guy and offered to "go outside and look for" his girlfriend. I'm sorry, what? They served this guy, he was drunk off his a$$ was upsetting all the diners but she was worried about him!!! 5. Finally got my bill paid and told the owner about the whole thing and basically just deflected and said "oh sorry" but they still let the drunk guy stay, moaning and yelling in his booth. 6. We went to the Islander after so I could eat in peace and I told people walking into Han Palace what had just happened. Hopefully they didn't stay. read more

The smell of old Chinese restaurant and the old decor slaps you in the face when you walk in - Nostalgia!!! The drink menu is extensive and cheap. I started with the Hot and Sour soup- delicious. The Apps were fresh- tasty and hottttt in temp- soooo good. The chicken chow Mein was freshly made and tasty. The waitress was really good and def gave great suggestions. Service is great! We love the waitresses here. The setup isn't bad either. It's comfortable seating. There's certain things we get here and ones we don't. I'm a fan of their rice and beef teriyaki. The menu is incorrect in several items. Anything listed as containing lobster has been eliminated or modified (ex: no lobster fried rice). They apparently don't serve lobster items at all, but they are still on the menu. The girl who answered the phone (with a heavy NY accent) was brusque & bordering on rude. These guys are open for dine in now! The staff say they've been open for a while and just trying to get the word out there. Super nice staff, wore masks at all times. My favs here are the general chicken, young chow fried rice. Their crab rangoons are a bit different from the other rangoons I've had, in the sense that they are fillleddd with cream cheese. So if you're a fan of cream cheese I would get them. If you're not a fan of cream cheese you might not enjoy them as much. Their chicken wings are also huge and taste awesome! read more

So this place has among the highest reviews on Google. More proof to me that Yelp is just more accurate and is my go-to site for reviews. We spent $65 on take out food and honestly, not much of it was good. The chicken chow mein, chicken and broccoli and mushu pork were all extremely sodium-laden, even by Chinese food standards. Very little chicken and pork in these entrees as well. The Pu Pu Platter contained dried up wings, dried up barbecue spare ribs, and fried wontons which had no filling whatsoever. The chicken fingers (no red sweet and sour sauce included) and egg rolls were good, however, and the oil used to fry these and other items tasted clean. Primarily booths with partitions that can be removed to accommodate larger parties (8-10). Parking is hit or miss depending on if it's busy. My go to place for Chinese food that I remember from many years ago. Some restaurants seem to have forgotten the flavoring that attracted American families. Fast service, pleasant waitresses and the best mai tais. I recommend the double....soups are great but my favorite is wonton. Wontons are never overcooked or rubbery like some places that leave them in a warming pot. Big fan of the duck and they offer it in a few different ways. Tried a lot of dishes, and never had one that I didn't like although I usually get the Chicago pork chow main. Egg foo young is another of my favorites. Portion sizes are big: always enough for later when hunger hits. They do a brisk takeout business, especially weekends. Definitely worth the trip from Smithfield. Headed over here with a couple of my besties from the 'burbs on a Sunday night. After a crazy, hectic weekend, we needed some girl time with a long drink and Han's served it up right. Han's is a Chinese-American restaurant on the endless stretch of West Shore Road located between Apponaug and Oakland Beach in Warwick. It just celebrated its big number anniversary (20 or 30?) and I doubt that much has changed about this place since it opened back in the day. Decor is family restaurant-esque with many vinyl booths lining the walls of the restaurant. We bellied up to one of the booths in the bar area to order take-out and order a beverage while we waited. Long story short - two of the three of us shared one Volcano (aka Scorpion Bowl) and almost made it through a second. I admit it! I threw in the towel and switched to water. (My friend continued and even took one last draw out of the long hot pink straw as we walked away from the table at the end of the night - clearly I'm the cheaper date). The drinks are tasty but high-test. Not that it's a bad thing. The take-out never made it home since the bevvies gave us the immediate eating urge. We changed our order to a "for-here". We shared an order of Shrimp with Lobster Sauce with a side of chicken fried rice right at the table. Han's Shrimp with Lobster Sauce (as with other Chinese - American joints) has no lobster but actually is pork sauteed in a rich brown sauce with huge, crunchy jumbo shrimp. There are different versions of this dish - it's sometimes made with a white egg strand sauce with veggies. I like both versions, but Han Palace did an excellent job with the former version. Chicken fried rice was a nice balance of white chicken, sprouts and peas. Not too salty and just the right amount of moisture. Plenty of food to share one entree between three hungry gals. I'm taking off a star because - well - I really think that they could do a little more with the decor. Just freshen it up a bit. I love the local flavor at the bar and the people were all super friendly. It clearly is a crowd of regulars and floaters doing their take-outs. Walked out paying less than 40 bucks for the two volcanoes and the shared meal. If you're not looking for super fancy and you can bring someone along to be your designated driver, I think this West Bay spot is a winner. read more

When I'm in the Warwick area, this is my go to Chinese restaurant. Lots of parking, lots of seating, prompt service and huge portions. The food it very good too. It's a little plain inside, but that's not a major drawback. The prices are comparable to other Chinese restaurants in the area. Comfort is okay. The booths could be a little more soft. Today we did a standard take-out mission from Han Palace in Warwick. I know Han Palace well, they always do a fantastic job. Being a staple in the Warwick community for many years, they stand the test of time, every time. I went rogue with a D1 Chicken Chow Mein Combo. Brian went with D24 the General's Chicken (white meat) AKA a total layup. Both combos came with Pork Fried Rice and Egg roll, respectfully. I totally loved my Chicken Chow Mein. For what can often be pegged as a bland dish, Han Palace does a phenomenal job making it come to life. Their Pork Fried Rice and Egg roll is amongst the best out there. Brian loved the General, and shares the same sentiment about the rice and egg roll as I do. Having had the General Combo many times I can totally recommend the dish to anyone. It's really top notch. I don't like bell peppers with that dish, so I order mine without. This area of Warwick has two legendary spots. Most people pick one or the other. I've been to the other Restaraunt "The Islander" many of times, and will properly give them the attention they rightfully deserve in the near future. Go to Han Palace in Warwick, you can't miss. I ordered curry shrimp from them... They should have called a curry onions. When I got home and opened the package, it was all onions with five pieces of shrimp and nothing else... Good food with Klingon lighting The first thing you notice when you walk into Han Palace is the strange glow. The eerie luminescence that I imagine you would see in an amusement park's haunted house or perhaps on a Klingon battle cruiser. Very dark with a green tint. I enjoyed it but my friend thought it was creepy. Adding to the rather bizarre ambiance are a bunch of those huge electric pictures that grace the walls. Definitely not the usually decor of a Chinese restaurant. The food at Han Palace is pretty typical of an Americanize Chinese place, with lots of the standard things that you would expect. There are only so many ways you can make chicken and broccoli or veggie fried rice but at least all the veggies were crisp and not cooked into oblivion or smothered in goopy sauces. They have a nice lunch special that offers pretty large portions at a surprisingly low price. I didn't see anything really unusual or exceptional on it but the food is good, filling and cheap and the service was friendly, polite and quick. Han Palace has been around for over twenty years and I can see why. Offering good, cheap food with quick and polite service is a pretty successful way of doing business. The Klingon decor is just an added bonus. read more

We stopped in here to get take out our first night arriving to Oakland beach for the week. We placed our order and it was ready in 15 minutes. OST was much less then in our home town in Washington state. I forgot to order sweet and sour sauce and the hostess didn't even charge me for it when I asked how much. When we got to our cottage and served the food we were happily surprised at how old school the food was. Chicken chow mein just how I remembered it being when I was young. Not all the noodles that they make nowadays but the celery and onions and the sauce with the crunchy chow main noodles you add. it was so good!!! The fried rice was the same. No carrots and peas you find in it now, but bean sprouts, meats and soy sauce. My husband said the same thing that it was like it used to be. The lemon chicken was delish too and the bbq pork was like I've never seen before. Thick huge slices. We loved our meal and will probably try and come again before we have to leave town. What the heck happened to this spot?! Returned back from vacation with crappy weather on the horizon and not wanting to cook, I decided to place an order of a Large Chix Rice Soup with extra Chix as I usually do...which is normally great! All I can say is WTF! It seems as if they just threw in some OVERCOOKED HARD CHICKEN mixed in with what was already in the container. Very upsetting and most certainly not the 1st time. We have ordered from here about a dozen time with few issues, but the last straw is a roach in my soup. Sitting right next to a fruit fly, which we have seen in our soup before. One of my favorite Chinese food restaurants around. Food and service is always excellent! We always seem to order the usual, crab rangoon, beef lo mein, pork fried rice, generals chicken, and peaking dumplings. Crab rangoons are stuffed with just the right amount of goodness. Beef Lo Mein is loaded with chunks of beef. The sauce for the peaking dumplings is one of my favorites and their duck sauce is yummy too. Portion sizes are great!
