She said he was finishing with another patient and would join the call soon. Then she called back claiming we weren't in the waiting room (we were -- and had been for an hour). She told us to log out and back in. When we did, the link said the appointment was canceled or rescheduled. They then tried calling me from a personal cell. We answered, but Dr. Fetters couldn't hear me and said it was a bad connection. This happened three different times. I eventually asked them to call my husband's cell instead. Dr. Fetters asked if we lived "out in the sticks" (we live in a major suburb) and asked if we had 5 bars of signal. I told him I had 1 bar and my husband had 2 bars. They finally reached us and what followed was a bizarre, dismissive 2-3 minute appointment. He brushed off my extremely RARE autoimmune disease as "just a nuisance" and said autoimmune conditions are something they "treat all day, every day." He claimed it was all environmental and tried to get me to run an extensive toxin panel, something I can order myself since I'm a Naturopath, which made the suggestion even more pointless. I explained that the autoimmune disease that I believe I have is incredibly rare (1 in 100,000), genetic, and that my grandmother died from it. This particular condition is degenerative and most people eventually end up in a wheelchair, unable to walk, and unable to take care of themselves...but sure, it's just a "nuisance." (Eye roll) Instead of hearing me, he started questioning my use of Amlexanox, a peptide that he prescribed me five years ago for MCAS. It has helped me with food reactions but that's it. It has nothing to do with my autoimmune condition, and yet he fixated on it. He talked over me repeatedly. Every time I tried to speak, he redirected, minimized, or interrupted. I eventually hung up. I'm tired. Tired of being dismissed. Tired of being talked over. Tired of begging for help from people who clearly don't want to listen. If you're chronically ill, disabled, or dealing with complex diagnoses, be cautious here. My experience felt like a complete waste of energy, time, and hope.

His protocol, using Ivermectin, has been discredited for years, yet he still promotes it. Baylor's Health System where he was employed has disassociated itself from him. Texas A&M College of Medicine removed him from their faculty. And the American Board of Internal Medicine has revoked his certifications. Because LI is using this discredited protocol, I felt I could not trust their other very numerous supplement recommendations. In addition, LI does not believe in taking any Covid Vaccines, believes the vaccines are causing my problems, and advised against the boosters, despite my explaining that I've never had an adverse reaction to any of the boosters, only tremendous problems from my two actual cases of Covid illness. While I believe vaccine injury is real for some people, that is not my case. I am doing everything possible to prevent another Covid illness, but they advised me not to wear a mask or get another vaccine. We clearly were in 2 different camps. Had I known this from the beginning, I would have saved myself a great deal of money and 4-5 months of waiting to get help. It was a frustrating answer, since the inability to lose weight was part of the problem. My husband's coworker recommended Amy Nicley, NP, at Excell for Life, since they work on your health through dietary changes and supplements, so I made an appointment. Blood tests galore revealed major inflammation and an autioimmune issue, as well as a problem with my pancreas that prevents me from processing carbs (hence the rapid weight gain!). I never would have known that! While we're continuing to figure out my body's autoimmune issue, I'm already feeling so much better with the dietary changes and supplements we've implemented. I was having heartburn all day, every day, headaches every day---that's all gone! I have far more energy, too. And Amy won't stop looking for answers until my whole system is happy again---no shrugs and, "Let's wait it out," or, "I don't know what to tell you." She's excited to figure this out, like a detective with a thrilling case. I absolutely love that about her!
