It was interesting that they wouldn't let us sit on the upstairs rooftop patio because we had someone who was under 18 with us. However, I think it worked out because it did start raining a bit and we were still seated upstairs but in the indoor section. I ordered the Tuna Ceviche and Baja Tacos which were soo delicious!! I love sushi, but I wasn't impressed with the Nigiri Tasting. The restaurant was beautiful and definitely recommend stopping by, for a drink and even appetizer to get the views on the rooftop!

Not friendly, no greeting, look as if they're forced to be there. The hostess walks around with her hand on her earpiece as if she's a musician. I figure she does this to avoid speaking to guests. This should have been a red flag as the rest of the service for the evening was awful. We called ahead, several weeks ago, to let them know it's very special anniversary and requested closer seating to the edge on the rooftop. They didn't take any requests into consideration and sat us near the bathroom, which was busy with foot traffic you could feel on the elevated platform. Once our food was delivered, we received zero further visits from the server. NONE! We finished our meal and when I requested the check, I made it clear to the cashier that we had not seen our server for any water or cocktail refills. She didn't care and asked what percentage I wanted to tip. Hahaha. This place has too much pride, which the view may allow. It's too bad we won't be back and will make certain not to recommend this place to anyone.

While it wasn't exactly what we were looking for, it was good enough to satisfy the craving. We ordered the yellow curry and pad see ew. Yellow Curry - It had a nice slightly spicy, gingery flavor, which I enjoyed. There was a decent amount of chicken, though I definitely wish there had been more. The vegetables were a nice touch, but the eggplant was a little undercooked and could have been softer. Pad See Ew - This. didn't really taste like traditional pad see ew--it was more like Chinese-style fried rice noodles. The flavors were okay, but it was pretty oily, and it definitely needed some of the spicy seasoning to bring out more flavor. The portion of beef was also disappointing, with only about 10 small pieces of meat, which wasn't what I expected. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but it wasn't amazing either. If you're craving Asian food, it's satisfying enough, but if you're looking for authentic Thai flavors, you might be a bit disappointed.

Only one table full is generally not a good sign, but we needed rice & other comfort food. We started with the fresh shrimp rolls with peanut sauce. Then the tuna satay. Tuna was a bit fishy tasting but good. We ordered Tom Ka soup with tofu. Quite a bit of mixed veggies in the soup, but not over cooked at all! Met the owner who is also the cook! Very nice lady! Come and give this restaurant some love! Nice diversion from Mexican food if you need it!

Asian food is underrepresented in this fair city, especially Chinese food. There are few…read morerestaurants in this category that are worthy of any distinction, like in many cities where Chinese delicacies proliferate with but a few being truly remarkable; and while this might be the case with Fa-Yian, I will rely on sentiment and bias for this 4-star review. Life as a culinary explorer begins at a young age, and it is here where standards and reference points are established. This Chinese restaurant, with its shouty and ever-present owners, became my reference point for Chinese food and culture isngeneral. It is here where I met the Buddha, the red Chinese lamps, pastel tablecloths, and lazy susans that I thought were unique to this place but are actually commonplace for most Chinese places in Mexico and the US. Through this innocent wonder I recorded the taste of Chow Mein, fried and steamed rice, beef broccoli, fried shrimp and egg rolls, sweet and sour sauce, noodle soup, and the glorious orange chicken. Chinese food became an exotic adventure that could only be found here. Many years later, on our most recent visit, the food seems ordinary with no extravagance to it. The orange chicken and fried foods are still good and salty and sweet, but it no longer offers that amazement that I experienced in my youth. Still, Fa-Yian holds a special holds a special place in my heart, one whose food might not compare to places we've been to in LA, NY, or even Beijing, but is still a standard to which I will compare all others.

I recommend it for visitors in the nearby hotels, like the Hampton. We walked and it was safe. Had the wonton soup and it was served hot and contained about 7 meaty wontons and lots of spinach. Served mild so of course I had to add heat to bring it up to Texas standards. My main course was Kung Pow Shrimp and it was served without rice, so we ordered a bowl of white rice but they offer 4 types of Fried Rice too. The sauce of the Kung Pow was mild and almost chocolaty a tiny bit. And we had to add heat to it, even though I requested it spicy. We asked for Sriacha sauce but I guess it hasn't made it to Qto. All in all, for 2 people, a good meal for $40 with wine beer and tip.

My favorite dish is the pineapple chicken, which has unbelievable amount of mixed flavors. The chicken is served in a fresh cut pineapple. Oh so good. Another of my favorites is the Sake salmon, which is served on a bed of rice, topped with sake sauce. The salmon is lightly grilled and very flaky. Many people also go there for their sushi. The grill has nice bar with mixed drinks, wines, and of course beer. Give this place a shot, you won't be disappointed.
