Poor service at a very difficult time. More interested in schedule than people. And much too warm in viewing room.

We had the sad need for Drake and Son's services in the past week. From our first phone calls , to the decision making process to the visitation and burial, we found Levi W and everyone to be professional, compassionate and competent. The packages and presentation of the options was well organized. We understood our options. I'm talking about the location on Western. I'm sorry for people who had any bad experience As far as death certificates and delivery that seems to be on the county. Not asking for an argument. I'm amazed at the ability of the staff to work with grieving families. read more

Update on 1/20/2022. Just finished a call with the Medical Examiner and they are going to amend the cause of death. I want the funeral home especially John K to know: stop telling customers what they should do and told them it's hard to overturn the decision. Funeral home staff are not experts. read more

I went to a wake this weekend. I cant really review the services received, but I can review the setup of the inside of the funeral home. There are four large rooms. When I came, there were four wakes going on, one in each room. The parking lot was jam packed! I had no idea where to park. But seeing this was a wake that I needed to attend, I just threw my car anywhere and hoped it wouldnt get towed. It didnt help that there was a police car in the parking lot. Luckily, two hours later, my car was still in the parking lot. I cant vouch for the neighborhood but their parking lot is VERY dimly lit so I would advise exercising caution! Maybe thats why the cop was there on lookout? With four wakes and so many people going in and out, the funeral home only seems to have one restroom for men, and one for women. There were only two stalls in the women's restroom. I thought that was pretty small. Ventilation also wasnt very good in the restroom... But ventilation in the rooms were very good and their chairs were comfy. read more

We have held several funerals here for various family members over the years. The most recent was yesterday for my mother. They have always been great to work with and very responsive. Everything went so smoothly and people were extremely pleased with the results at a very difficult time. I would not hesitate to recommend them. Also, the funeral home is very clean and warm and inviting. We used the smallest room, which included access to a nice "living room" style area, complete with comfortable leather couches and chairs, a working fireplace and a running slide show with pictures of my mother over the years. They also provided mints and placed boxes of kleenex around, both of which came in very handy. Thank you from everyone in our family. read more

I attended a wake at Drake & Sons. The interior is nice, standard funeral home décor. The restrooms on the main floor look recently updated and are very nice. The building has multiple entrances, yet only one is usable and not visible from the parking lot. It would be nice to have better signage in the parking lot to clearly mark/indicate the open entrance. The deceased was not presented well. Make-up was shoddy at best - no blush, lip stick, a bit of clumpy mascara, and the most absurd was her skin tone presented as greyish brown (her real skin tone is peaches and cream). The wig was placed in a way that covered more than half of her face (from the top and sides), and finally the clothing should've been pulled in the back to make it smaller to fit better. Obviously she was very sick before passing, the clothes and wig were too big, and her skin tone..well not her normal. However, I have attended wakes with the same circumstances and although I don't know how they do it, they do make the skin tone resemble the person's real tone, apply make-up nicely, and and manipulate the clothing and wigs to fit the new smaller frame. The funeral director's black suite was dirty (3-4 white marks on the front of his pants and jacket) and he looked a bit disheveled. I would never opt to use this funeral home. As I did not arrange for this funeral and I would never tell the family my disappointment, I thought it was important to share it with the public and hopefully, the FH will see this review and improve their services. read more

Who wants to review a funeral home? It wasn't on my list of places to review, I wasn't hoping to go... but had the unfortunate need to attend a wake and funeral at Drake and Son this weekend. I wanted to say that they were very accomodating to the family. The deceased was an ice cream man most of his life, as well as having been a huge fan of the circus. Well, in addition to the standard flowers and pictures and such, there was an ice cream cart, supplied by the family, full of ice cream, in the back of the room and circus music playing, quietly, throughout the evening at the wake and prior to the funeral services. I thought that Drake & Son incorporated the families wishes very tastefully, as this is what the deceased would have wanted. I'm reviewing this funeral home, only because I thought the job they did was very respectful and tasteful - and it's worth a mention. read more

Absolutely Wonderful. Our family has had a rough few years to the point where I almost feel as if Drake and Sons has become a second home (very sad to say) We have had a funeral here every years since 2008 and the services is just wonderful. Very kind people who are understanding and incredibly helpful. Our family is quite large and it was nice that it was large enough to accomidated all of us. life of a priest means dealing with funeral homes. so here's my late-night review: the folks were great at the church service--dressed nice, unobtrusive, very under-taker-ish. but what bugs me.... the day before, at the wake, while there are guests (including yours truly) visiting with the deceased's BFF, the young, eager, undertaker comes in and says to the BFF of the deceased (she had no family, just an 83 year old BFF--we should all be so lucky!): "Hello Mr. P. I'm so sorry for your loss. Here is your bill. You can just bring a check for the balance to the church tomorrow." TACKY, TACKY, TACKY. Is it worth docking 2 stars? I don't know--you decide. I mean, really, are you going to pick a funeral home by a yelp review? But it bugged me. So I docked the stars. And now you know... UPDATE: Having just returned from working with a different funeral home, I feel I MUST increase the stars on this review. While what happened was tacky, I now see what truly BAD service is, thus making this place look much better. read more

Having to go through this experience in life, I found Drake and Son Funeral Home a very pleasing and soothing establishment when I had to find a place for my father's passing. EVERYONE on staff was warm, friendly, caring and sensitive to my family needs. They made it peaceful at a time of trouble. I have been to Drake and Son's for friends but to be on this side, I can see why, my friends have chosen this establishment. Thank you for caring and being apart of the area. read more

I attended a 2-day wake service at Drake & Son Funeral Home this week, and found myself to be very dissatisfied with the services provided. The young funeral director attending to the family made rude remarks to the family as we tidied up the downstairs reception area and prepared to leave. "You've got to get out of here sometime." was the remark he made as the family themselves cleaned up the area and said their goodbyes. In addition, he was not very attentive, and the funeral home did not have enough coffee for the visitors. He also made remarks to the elderly who arrived a little early because they brought food for the family. The day of the funeral, after mass, while vehicles prepared for the procession to the burial site, an older funeral director threw his hands up in frustration as cars lined up the street behind the hearse. In my experience, this is the typical practice. However, he wanted us to pull up past the hearse, and then to pull into the street after the hearse passed us. Mind you this was a one-way side street with no traffic, so it was more complex to pull up on the sides and coordinate merging behind the hearse than it would have been to simply pull up behind as everyone was doing. I don't think the funeral directors at Drake and Son were very empathetic toward the grieving family. They were also not very smart, as there were at least 100+ visitors between the two days, aging, and related through the same children/nieces/nephews. The younger generations are the ones planning their services in the future, and their rudeness is a turn-off. WE WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT BE RETURNING HERE FOR SERVICES IN THE FUTURE. Building a good rapport is a wise tip for those in the funeral business in order for repeat business, one that the people at Drake and Son failed to do. read more

I have never had such a pleasant event planning experience- especially during this sad time for my family. Rich, Phillip and the rest of the staff are consummate professionals. They are empathetic, organized, and detail oriented. They gave us everything we needed to prepare my grandfather's effects and provide photos for his memorial tribute (including our own thumb drive!). The wake and the memorial service went off without a hitch. They have a beautiful space, and a recently remodeled downstair reception eating area. Rich, our primary contact also met us at Rose Hill Cemetery to ensure the burial went smoothly. The icing on the cake was when my grandmother returned to Drake & Son for the last time to pay for their services. They gave her a package which included additional canvas photos, book marks, thank you cards, and postage stamps! Yes, postage stamps! They thought of everything! I cannot say how wonderful the team is here. When you experience a death in the family, you are in GREAT hands with Drake & Son. read more

It is never a pleasant time, with a family death, to worry about all of the funeral arrangements that need to be made in a very short period of time. When my dear brother passed away from injuries in a bicycle accident, we were totally unprepared to even know where to begin. We contacted Timothy Hartle Funeral Home in Franklin, PA - and without exception Tim provided us exceptional care from beginning to end. He is compassionate and caring and was available for every need we had. I highly recommend him and his services - five star. read more

Wonderful services. Phillip Hernandez took really good care of us. Hes amazing. He did everything to help us. I lost my father, hes now in heaven. May he rest in peace. Phillip even spoke spanish to my mom. Drake and sons funeral home is a really nice place, everybody there is very helpful. They attended to every need we had. I want to thank Phillip so much. It was a sad moment we had to go thru, but he was very helpful all the way. From the wake we passed on the procession thru the house and my fathers work on the way to mass and on the way back too. We got to the front of the house he got out of the car and placed flowers in front of house, which was very nice of him. He help us handle the mariachis. And he help us at rosehill cemetery.
