Michael was great!! The guests loved their drawings. He took their photos and then hand painted each one. He created portraits for individuals, couples or families. This worked so well because guests could continue enjoying the party and didn't have to sit while he painted. I am so excited to frame mine!! He brought plastic sleeves so they would be protected on their ride home. Many guests commented that it was their favorite activity from all the weddings they had been to.

Highly Highly recommend Drawn Together/Boris for any of your painting, sketching, or art or event needs. We hired him for our wedding. He was super communicative, and responsive even up until the day of the wedding; we booked him about a year in advance. He's was amazing at really making sure that he captured exactly what we wanted - which was a little different than most wedding live paintings. We focused more on the actual landscape rather than the actual ceremony. He did so amazing - we have gotten SO many compliments on the painting and we are looking forward to framing and hanging it in our house. Also, he's rates are MORE than reasonable, and we vetted a lot of people before booking him. Hire local and support your local artist; hire Drawn Together NYC!

As a lifelong lover of both art & horror, I couldn't resist attending an Art of The Living Dead art…read moreshow in my neighborhood for Halloween! So much talent but one piece immediately caught my eye, and from the moment I saw it, I knew it was coming home with me! The painting's composition is absolutely mesmerizing. I might be a little biased since teal is one of my favorite colors--but the way Boris uses it here is just perfect. Boris' use of teal to outline the zombie's hair and body creates a striking contrast against the more subdued tones of the piece. This teal is rich yet ethereal, giving the figure an almost otherworldly presence--like a spectral being suspended between life and death. It feels like the subject exists in both worlds at once, capturing that perfect eerie beauty that defines this genre of art. Equally impressive is the background. The black-and-white contrast feels both simple and complex at once, complementing the figure perfectly. There's something about how it pops against both a black and white wall--it's like the piece takes on a life of its own, shifting and changing with the light. The high-contrast backdrop lets the figure breathe and stand out without ever feeling overwhelming. But what really sets this piece apart are the glowing yellow eyes. They draw you in immediately--at first, they seem almost surreal, like they have an inner light of their own. In natural daylight, the eyes have a subtle, almost hypnotic glow, but when I light candles in the room, the effect is even more striking. The eyes seem to flicker with an eerie intensity that perfectly matches the dark mood of the painting. It's rare to find a piece of art that evolves with the time of day and the light in the room, but this one does, offering something new every time I look at it. I love Boris' work so much that I've already put down a deposit for another piece, and I can't say enough about how amazing the process has been. Boris has kept me in the loop every step of the way, making sure I have the opportunity to give feedback and request any changes before the piece is finalized and fully paid for. It's a rare experience to work with an artist who truly values collaboration and ensures that you're as excited about the final piece as they are. This painting isn't just something you hang on your wall--it becomes a part of your space, a presence that shifts with the light and always keeps you engaged. It's rare to find a work that feels alive in that way, and that's exactly what this piece does. I can't wait to see what the next one brings, but for now, this one is absolutely priceless.

He was super communicative and made sure to double check all the details with me on a daily basis, as well as send pencil sketches so you get to watch and work on the process of building a cartoon with him. I reached out to do an anniversary cartoon telling the story of how my girlfriend and I got together and sent him a short paragraph with the details and some photos. Jon storyboarded it and right out of the gate it was funny and he got so many details (even stuff in the background) right. Once the final pencil was approved he colored it in with beautiful watercolors and it really took the cartoon to the next level. The process was very fast and took about two weeks from sending him stuff to getting the final piece, which I picked up in person. If you are looking for a truly wonderful, mind-blowing gift that tells your or someone else's story, this is it.

The process is quick and simple. Send Jon an idea along with a couple photos. I'd recommend more than 1 so he can get the best sense of what everyone looks like. He'll make a few quick sketches of his design ideas and let you pick which one you like most. Then, he'll send multiple drafts along the way to make sure you're happy with how its coming out. When the final pencil is approved, he'll color it in and arrange to pick it up. He completed mine in about a week and a half but I got the sense he could do much faster if I needed it. And the price is determined by how many panels and how much detail you want. So if you're on a budget, Jon can still make you something cool. I'd highly recommend this as a gift! I'm also thinking of getting one to promote my business. Thanks Jon!
