I saw Dr. Jyoti Sharma about a hand problem that she diagnosed as arthritis. She said there was…read morenothing she could do for me. A few days later, I requested a referral to a rheumatologist. I can get a referral from my family doctor, but since Dr. Sharma had the x-rays, and she and the rheumatologist are both part of the UPMC system, it seemed more appropriate to get the referral from her office. A few days later, I received a call from her office telling me that my insurance - they didn't say which one - had refused to approve the referral. None of my doctors have authorization to contact my insurance carriers for any purpose other than the payment of their own bills, and my insurance carriers do not require pre-approval for referrals. And even if they did, I am perfectly capable of paying a bill on my own if it comes to that. I'm not sure what's going on, but it seems pretty clear to me that either this office has no idea what they are doing, or they simply made up a story in order to avoid doing whatever minor bit of work is involved in making a referral. I will not be returning to this practice, and would not recommend them.

I would call on the phone to pay it, but after I missed a month, sent me to collections without any sort of notice through the mail or by phone. I was seeking therapy for PTSD and found this practice on the web. After the initial consultation,…read moreI returned to the office to review my options and see what the recommend treatment plan was. The total cost was $7200.00 for treatment (out of pocket insurance does not cover any cost) and I had to decide on the spot, that day if I wanted the services or not. When asked if I could have time to think about it first, I was told no. I was promised that 6 months of therapy was like 7 years of psychiatric therapy. Out of desperation I elected to take the therapy offered. Over the next 3 months of weekly appointments, I was given over 25 different supplements; some I only took for two or three weeks. I laid on a table and had different little bottles placed on my chest. After 10 minutes, I was given a list of what supplements to take and then put on a machine that swayed me from side to side. Only four actual appointments addressed the different traumas I had experienced throughout my life, and I was asked to put my hands in weird positions, then asked to embrace the moment of trauma, not how to release it, feel better, stop obsessing over it or strategies to decrease my depression/PTSD. I put my trust in the doctor, and it was an absolute failure. I called the office and told them I was not coming in anymore, expressed my reasons why and was refunded $1900. I do not recommend this practice. It was a waste of time and money.
