DJ Ruki is no doubt the best DJ I have ever experienced and I'm so thrilled that he was the DJ for our wedding! He literally had my guests, ranging from 15-70, dancing all night long. During the planning process, he was incredibly thorough and direct, which I appreciated. During your first meeting, he provides a portal where you can note any requests and no plays, in addition to specifiying your first dance, entrance choices, etc. Ruki coordinated with my friends for surprise dances and also provided excellent MC-ing such as calling out table numbers for the buffet. We had contracted with Ruki Dole to be our DJ for three events during our wedding weekend. He did not show up due to a food poisoning, which we would completely understand if it is the case. However, 10 days before our wedding, we had a meeting with him to review the details. Afterwards, we emailed him a couple of times with some changes and questions and we did not hear back at all. Not from him or anyone else on his team. The replacement DJ he sent for the wedding ceremony was very clearly not prepared. During the wedding weekend, the replacements he sent were mediocre at best. For the Sangeet and Reception, the DJs were fine and we were grateful the events went on without much trouble. However, for our wedding ceremony, the DJ he sent was terrible. The DJ did not mix the songs during the Baarat, he would continue playing whole songs from a playlist we provided. The least he could have done was mixed the songs to appropriate lengths. During the ceremony, he failed to play the Phera music on time and he didn't even announce us as husband and wife at the end of the ceremony. He also did not play our exit song when we walked down the aisle after the wedding. On top of that, when our wedding planner asked him to announce something, it would be so muffled that no one heard him, and in some cases he just didn't announce it. During our Vidai, the DJ was no where to be found. Once our planner located him, it took him forever to set up the speaker which he couldn't even bring outside afterwards (it was supposed to be a mobile DJ cart to move from inside to outside the venue for the Vidai). This is very frustrating considering we provided Ruki with detailed spreadsheets including all of this information, we provided multiple playlists to play during the events (which he said would be mixed), and our planner provided a detailed timeline as well. We had also discussed him providing MC services during our reception which was not able to be fulfilled by the replacement DJ. He couldn't even attempt to pronounce our names, let alone introduce the rest of the family entrances. Because of this, we had the extra stress of figuring out someone else to MC the reception within hours. Overall, yes, Ruki sent replacement DJs and did not leave us hanging which we are grateful for. However, the DJs were not up to the standard based on the investment we made (especially the DJ during the wedding ceremony). It has been nearly 3 weeks since our wedding, and we have not heard from Ruki with any sort of explanation or apology. I would not recommend. read more

DJ Ruki is unethical, and has inflated his business on this site with fake reviews (example: there are 21 reviews in only a ten day span). Our wedding was set for June 2020, but due to COVID-19, it was cancelled by the venue. We paid him in full and he has refused to re-work our contract and refund any portion of the total; we went from 3 events for 350 people, to 1 event for 50 people. That's over $5,000. During the start of the pandemic Ruki was unresponsive other than sending us a mass client email stating as per his contract "no refunds under any circumstance". We sought legal counsel, and during a pandemic this language in a contract is void. We called him, emailed him, posted a press release, sent a legal demand letter, all with no reply. I posted my experience on my Facebook page (global post under 'Ankit Rawal') and received numerous comments with him owing thousands of dollars to others unrelated to this year's wedding cancellations. With his lack of reply to outreach for weeks, he had the audacity to comment on my Facebook post which is the first and only time we have heard from him during the pandemic. We are currently in the process of filing a lawsuit in small claims court against him as keeping full monetary payment for services not rendered is not only unethical, but a breach of contract. We are also filing this lawsuit with others who he has taken money from for work performed and then not paid. Our experience has deeply soured the wedding planning process. The two most important partners we wanted for our wedding were great food and music. DJ Ruki was everything we were looking for in our music partner and we highly recommend him and Dream House Productions! Our wedding was half American half Indian, and he played a mix so good it had both sides of the family on their feet all night. We've thrown lots of parties and been to many weddings, but we've never been to an event where everyone was on the dance floor *immediately* after the first dances ended. Ruki led off with bangers and kept the energy high throughout. He mixed both American and Indian musix flawlessly and even worked in some traditional Indian dance music to cater to the crowd. His prices were very reasonable as well for the level and quality of service provided. Short Story: Hire Ruki, chat with him once, and then relax knowing he will create exactly the wedding you hope for. Working with him was an unbelievable experience; he was unlike any other wedding DJ. In fact, I wouldn't describe him as a wedding DJ, but rather a top-notch club DJ whose sampling and mixing skills far exceed the wedding industry standard. Long Story: In terms of crafting the kind of ambiance and experience that you dream of for your wedding day, a DJ is second only to the venue, (perhaps even more important than the venue). When selecting the vendors for our Sept 2013 wedding, my now-husband and I had only online review sites like yelp/theknot/weddingwire to make our decisions since we were planning the event from the East Coast. Needless to say, we were more than a little concerned that we had made the right selections. Initially, we had booked a different DJ company, but decided to switch to Ruki at Dream House Productions after we realized that we were uncomfortable with the idea of working with a DJ company rather than an individual. These fears were compounded after we attended my brother's wedding earlier this year when the DJ that arrived managed to botch almost everything they had so carefully planned for. We absolutely loved working with Ruki and the DHP team! We hired them to DJ 2 days of events for our fusion, multi-cultural Indian and Chinese wedding (Indian ceremony and dancing, Chinese reception) with Western elements, and they executed awesomely! In addition to being very personable, kind, and energetic, here are a few highlights that set them above and beyond: - Attentiveness: Ruki took the time to speak with us multiple times, including talking for an hour(!) a few days before our wedding, to make sure all the song choices were to our liking. I felt he really listened to our needs and the music we wanted for each event, as well as gave constructive, crowd-appropriate song suggestions. - Efficiency/quickness: Admittedly, we were slackers and didn't fill out the song portal till the last minute. Ruki was so accommodating, and was able to read all the names of our relatives (complicated Chinese and Indian names may I add) with very short notice and talk through the whole tea ceremony, which turned out better than we imagined. - Easy to use portal: The DHP portal to create our playlist was very easy to use, and even gave us some really helpful song suggestions via awesome lists of music for various genres. Also, shout out to Vaughn Goy! When Ruki had a family emergency on the first night, Vaughn seamlessly stepped in and was able to hold down fort. A huge testimony to his talent and ability to read the crowd is that the DANCE FLOOR WAS FULL THE ENTIRE NIGHT from the time it opened!! It started to rain (cue the Alanis Morissette) part way through the dance reception and the power went out, but he was able to handle that "mini crisis" calmly and efficiently, so that the party could continue on. And thank you for the suggestion for the last song (good choice on the Third Eye Blind), and for playing an encore song! We and the guests made a big dance circle, and sang our hearts out to Bohemian Rhapsody. It was one of my favorite memories from our dance reception! Overall, we may have not been the easiest clients to work with due to all our time delays, but Ruki and his team handled it all so patiently and professionally. Despite very positive reviews from prior customers, we have to say we were thoroughly disappointed with the lack of professionalism as well as shady behavior we saw from DJ ruki. He did not respond to emails for over a month and then promised to refund our money. He stated he would overnight checks (although he was dating them for over a month into the future, which begs the question as to why he did not have the funds to simply return a deposit), but then stopped responding to emails when we asked for the tracking numbers of the checks he supposedly "overnighted." We were only able to get our money back by filing a PayPal dispute with him, and PayPal refunded our money. I would highly discourage anyone who values communication and professionalism from using his services. While we cannot attest to his performance, as we fired him before our event, I can truly say he was the worst person we have ever tried to deal with in a business transaction. Reviewing a DJ in general, especially one as great at Ruki and DHP, requires a lot of words, and so I'm going to try to break it down for anyone looking for a fantastic DJ for their event (you should book him. seriously) What Services did he do for you? I believe we had the premium package -- he DJ'd our sangeet (inc. performances), baraat, ceremony, and reception, and got us the uplights. Overall Happiness? in a word, absolutely. When we met Ruki, we were relatively early in our planning. From the get go, Ruki was professional, kind, gave us tips for a successful DJ experience, advised us on how he works, his timeline as the date gets closer, and is happy to answer any DJ questions for us. As we continued working with him, we developed a great rapport, and as we filled him in on our progressions with planning, he had some really helpful tips to share with us. mixes/choice of music? We actually got a ton of compliments on the music. Even aunties were coming up to the both of us and commenting on the music! Ruki is definitely current, and I personally think his mixes were excellent. What's great about his set up is that you provide him with must play lists of songs, and "absolutely do not play" lists. We made sure to keep out stuff that the definitely didn't want (macarena? yikes) and stuff that we absolutely wanted to hear. Generally, I told him keep it new, pop/hiphop, and bhangra-y, and let him have at it. It turned out great. sound/lighting system? His sound system was great for us -- we had approx. a 250 seat wedding, so we didn't need something super loud/etc. Ruki has pretty much all the equipment one would need for a super large wedding as well -- the couple who referred him to us had a 500 or so seat wedding, and had zero issues with equipment. With the lighting stuff, we also didn't do a whole lot here (i think we did his premium package set up). As I said, for the smaller venue it was really great. (we also had party LED batons for the dance floor which we thought were a great add to the party) One thing especially to be aware of is that he has his own uplight set. Depending on who you're using for decor, your typical decor company will probably charge you more for uplights than ruki will. We saved a decent amount just on that, and as you start to approach your budget markers, every bit of savings helps. Any Disadvantages? Honestly, not really. Anything that Ruki can help with he does, and any glitches over the course of your wedding night/weekend that involves him is fixed ASAP. If I had to do it again, or had to help out with any one else's, I would absolutely recommend Ruki. read more

Ruki provided his services for Johnson & Johnson at a clients General Managers Conference in April of 2014. Our booth was rocking and attracted so many people because of the amazing music spun by Ruki. Everyone was dancing by and in the booth - it was infectious!! It really made out booth a success! He was recommended by a friend, and even though our wedding was in the eastern shore of MD - we decided to fly him out for one night to spin at our wedding. I recently had a great experience with Ruki Doyle from Dream House! I was the Chair for a charity Wine Social event for the Ronald McDonald House at the Palmer House Hilton Grand Ballroom. Ruki and his team were very easy to work with and it was nice that they already had experience doing events in the Grand Ballroom. We hired Ruki because we were looking to take our event to the next level and create more of a party atmosphere and gradually 'ramp' the night up over 3-4 hours. I was extremely happy with the music selection and he was able to appeal to the wide demographic range of our attendees and keep it tasteful. We received numerous compliments about the event, particularly the music and pulse of the night. Another bonus of hiring Ruki was his flexibility. We had a situation during the event and decided to extend the event an extra hour to last until midnight. Unfortunately, we didn't consult with him beforehand but he kept playing anyway. If you're a soon-to-be-wed couple, here's just some general advice. Make a schedule for the day, rehearse that schedule, put people in charge of things , and hire someone to keep the whole show running on time. That being said, if none of that ends up happening, don't worry--Ruki will probably just cover it all for you like he did for us. The entire evening, toasts, special dances, and the very brief ceremony all ran on time thanks to Ruki and his staff. Plus, ahead of time, the setup staff was awesome about rearranging the setup last minute. As for the music, I saved the best for last. I would describe my wife and I as "We're not hipsters, but everyone who's not from Chicago calls us hipsters." We have particular music tastes and our wedding was mostly young people and family. So we wanted this wedding to be about 15 minutes of ceremony followed by three hours of dance party. Our first concern was having some cornball Top 40 music that everyone rolled their eyes at. Our second was obviously that people wouldn't dance. Luckily, as soon as the music started, neither of those were even close to an issue. People from grandparents to college kids were dancings their nuts off and everyone just kept telling us how awesome the music was. It was energetic, it was sweaty, it was awesome. Better yet, before the show starts, the tools on the Dreamhouse website make personalizing the night a snap, and every meeting with Ruki was friendly and super helpful. My wife and I got married in June 2018. We're both very Type A people when it comes to organization and planning, especially when it came to our wedding. We talked to and received quotes from several DJs for our [traditional Indian] wedding and [Bollywood & hiphop mixed] reception. Many were recommended to us by friends. We were not impressed by many of the DJs we talked to prior. Many of them seemed unorganized, had poor communication skills, and some never even got back to us. We got DJ Ruki's name from a friend and contacted him. Within 2 minutes of our first phone call, we knew he was the perfect DJ for our wedding. He was extremely organized, articulated many details that we would have never thought of, and did a great job of explaining his services and options in terms of packages. After the phone call, we talked about it and decided to book him that very moment. We called him back right away and did just that. A few weeks before the wedding, we met in person and went over everything, including the order of events and what information he needed from us. There were a few things that we missed like the song playing for the cake cutting but with his experience, he helped ensure we had everything ready to go. The morning of the wedding, DJ Ruki was setup and ready to go, without any additional direction from us. In terms of the traditional Indian/Hindu wedding ceremony, there are very specific songs to be played at specific times. I edited those tracks, numbered, and sent the mp3 files to DJ Ruki ahead of time. Without any rehearsals, the entire wedding ceremony went on without a hitch. We also had entrance songs for the reception that I edited and labeled. The MCs made a mistake with one of the entrances but DJ Ruki was quick to fix it. Other tracks such as the cake cutting, first dance, mother/son dance, and father/daughter dance were all played in order at the correct time. For the reception dancing songs, Dream House Productions/DJ Ruki has an online portal to login to and you can search and add songs that you'd like him to mix. You can categorize them into Definitely Play, Maybe Play, and Do Not Play lists. The whole process was very convenient and made it simple for us to choose [English] songs we wanted to play. Since we had an Indian wedding, we also sent him a playlist via Excel document of Hindi/Bollywood songs we wanted for both the baraat (grooms procession) and reception dancing. Overall, the song selection could not have been simpler. He had the dance floor full the entire night and we had friends that don't usually dance never even leave the dance floor. As I said before, organization and communication were a huge priority for us. There were no moments where we felt that DJ Ruki was out of the loop. He coordinated with our other vendors to provide the best service that he could and we could not have been happier. We always had open lines of communication and he always got back to us in a timely manner. Honestly, we couldn't have asked for more from Ruki who played our NYE wedding in December. He was a breeze to work with, interfaced with our planner & event venue on his own and brought in all the necessary equipment without us having to think about it. Ruki Dole is an AMAZING AND GIFTED D.J., who helped to make our daughter & new son-in-law's wedding and reception SPECTACULAR!! My husband and I first experienced Ruki's amazing abilities two year's prior, at the wedding of my cousin Kathy's daughter - Kate - in Detroit, MI. My husband and I decided then and there, that if / whenever our daughter married, we would fly Ruki Dole in for the ceremony and reception, here in VIRGINIA - HE'S THAT GOOD!! This past weekend we had Ruki DJ our wedding. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out! I was a little worried because we had only interviewed Ruki that maybe we settled, but from the first conversation I could tell he knew what he was doing and that he would do a wonderful job to cater to the crowd. We had quite the group of people there ranging with music from country, classics, and current and Ruki hit every genre! Typically at a wedding the DJ announces that the dance floor is open and it takes a few brave souls to start the party. At our wedding Ruki announced the floor was open and had the dance floor packed from start to finish. If having a crowded dance floor is important to you then Ruki is the way to go. He was able to change songs seamlessly if they needed to be and let the ones that people were loving play through. At the end of the night Ruki played Piano Man, not on our play list but the highlight of my night! THANK YOU! Working with Ruki was simple, he contacted the venue, gives you a planning tool for timeline/playlist/etc, and connects with you week of to make sure that you are on the same page. We use to frequent Ruki's Thursday nights at Kerryman for years - its actually where my husband and I reacquainted ourselves! So when we started to plan our wedding, Ruki was BY FAR the first choice! I mean have you ever been to one of his DJ events? You can't leave the dance floor for a drink because you dont want to miss the dancing! He mixes. Not just play music with transitions, he actually mixes. But we were like, does he even know how to DJ a wedding? Well apparently he is a Wedding DJ as well! AMAZING!!! When he met with us, he put our mind at ease on choosing him. He was upfront with us with what he can do and cannot do - which worked great for us. He doesn't do all the video djing stuff, but we could care less about that. He didn't have a dhol player, but could recommend one or work with any we hired. He worked so well with the one we hired. I mean, if we had Ruki, that's ALL we cared about. He knows how to keep the dance floor packed and play the music we would want. Ruki is also exceptional when it comes to wedding planning. From the wedding tool he has you fill out, he knows the timing of all the events. He keeps track of the timing and let's you know when you need to move to the next item. He is another set of eyes that you need! I am so glad we went with Ruki for our wedding events and that he was luckily available! He was great to work with, kept the dance floor packed (One of our guest told us that he couldn't believe that 90% of the guests were on the dance floor till the end of the night), worked with a Baraat that was dealing with Rain, and went out of his way for us - DJ our afterparty! My husband and I were thrilled when Ruki said he was available for our wedding! His amazing team performed at my sisters wedding about three years before and from then on I KNEW they had to do my wedding! They traveled all the way from Chicago to Indianapolis with all their equipment and everything exceeded our expectations! The lights were amazing and so was the projection of our initials! I knew after hearing Ruki DJ at a Chicago bar that I had to have him play at our wedding. We booked him two years prior to the event and flew him out to California where the wedding was held.
