I do not have enough positive things to say about this rescue organization. The shelters in the tri-state area are awful. At the Cincinnati-area SPCAs, the dogs are living in absolute filth and squalor, and their health is not being attended to. They are giving them away at shocking, irresponsibly low prices, which I suppose they have to when their vet bills will be...who knows how high. As much as I want to rescue these babies, I don't have the time, energy, or expertise, but Sweet Dream House Rescue does. They are not breed-specific; they rescue dogs of all sizes and ages and get them in good health before adopting them out. The dogs also live with fosters instead of in a kennel, so the rescue organization has a good idea of what their temperament is. While our little guy was still at the end of his recovery from some skin issues when we adopted him, they were very up-front with us about it and provided us with the last of his medication and a contact in case his problems continued, in which case they assured us they would take them to their vet. As it turned out, his skin issues were and remain resolved, but I feel confident that if we had had issues, they would have taken care of him. The other reason we chose Dream House is their foster-to-adopt program. My husband is a musician, so it was important to us to find a dog who didn't mind the various funny loud sounds in our household. This can be kind of hard to predict without experience - even a dog who is ok with sirens and alarms sometimes isn't ok with sustained, strange noises they've never heard before. I reached out to another rescue organization who wasn't particularly understanding about this. Dream House was also very helpful in helping us find a dog who would be okay living in 1-bedroom, downtown apartment - despite what another review said about this, they weren't judgmental at all, but rather genuinely invested in finding the RIGHT dog for us. While their fee is slightly higher than some other organizations in town, you get what you pay for. We were given a full bag of high-quality dog food and treats, heartworm and flea medication, various pet store freebies, and, most importantly, a healthy, happy dog. I wish I could give 0 stars. We inquired about an 8 year old male dog, Teddy. They told my husband that every animal in our home had to be neutered. We currently only have 2 male dogs, one which is not neutered. They basically told us that was not good enough and all of them must be neutered. How does that make any sense? We're trying to give Teddy a good home. Because of this places policies that's not going to happen. We have experience adopting dogs. Earlier this year we adopted a male from our local dog pound that required at $5,000 surgery that we had done for him. I hardly ever leave reviews but this place makes it much more difficult for loving penitential adopters to rescue an animal. read more

I started my experience with dream house as a foster mom after getting a recommendation from a friend. As a younger pet owner I had been turned away for having an apartment or never fostering before even though I had a ton of love to give to a calmer pup! Sweet dream definitely appreciated the time I was willing to offer and I had a great experience fostering. I had a great experience adopting my dog from Dream House Rescue. They allow you to bring the dog home for a week before committing to adopt so that you can make sure things will work with the dog in your household. This was very important as my daughter was 8 months old at the time. The test period allowed us to better assess our dog's temperament. We had nothing to worry about. I don't think we could have found a better suited dog for our family. We've now had him for 4 months and we all love him. My daughter is crazy about him. Dream House had rescued him from a high kill shelter. It was clear from the folks we talked to with Dream House that they had spent a lot of time with our dog and new him quite well. We found him on their Petfinder page and went to see him at their weekend event at the Eastgate Petsmart. The nice thing about adopting at this location is that you can take your adoption paperwork across the street to Jungle Jim's and get a bunch of free stuff for your dog. It is a sad day at our house. Twelve days after our rescue dog Lena joined our family, we brought her to the vet appointment that the dog rescue group designated to have her spayed. Yesterday I met the rescue group representative to pick up Lena after her surgery, to pay her, and to sign the contract. To my disbelief the price was "triple" what they quoted us twelve days ago. Mark and I tried to plead our case, explaining what they told us and the fact we paid $400 for a purebred AKC registered Boxer, why would we pay almost that for a undocumented mixed breed? Our pleas were in vain. They flat out refused to honor the price we were quoted at the adoption event, saying we misunderstood. Unfortunately, we had nothing on paper. I asked the rep for her the agency name and she responded by flinging her business card at me and then threw my credit card at me. Not to mention any names, but stay classy Bonnie! Once we got home Mark pulled up the rescue organization, Sweet Dream House Rescue, online and it seems we are not the only hopeful dog parents to be screwed over by them! We honestly wanted to do the right thing by adopting. What a bad taste they have left in our mouth. The worst part was leaving Lena. I hope and pray they find her a good home. read more

With that many animals, an adoption event a bit of organized chaos, but you can tell this isn't Dream House's first rodeo. They have a unique foster to adopt program so you can make sure a dog is right for you and your family. They provide most vaccinations, microchip, and spay/neuter as part of the adoption cost. (One heads up: cash/check only!) You can tell the Dream House crew genuinely loves each dog they bring in, and they delighted when one finds a forever home. We're back at Petsmart every weekend for J's puppy class, so they always say hi to us when they see us there. read more

While I'm glad I did, Maggie has been an angel from day 1 in my home. She is well socialized with children, adults and other dogs, does not chew and has never once had an accident inside. While I can't praise Dream House for most of this, I do praise them for taking her from a dog warden and giving her another chance. This rescue group is one of the best. They rescue dogs, puppies, and the occasional cat or kitten. I've seen first hand the amazing work they can do. They've rescued dogs that look like they would die in a matter of days, get then the medical help and care they need then turn them around into completely different happy, healthy dogs. The group holds weekly adoption events and we attended many of them where they were very friendly and were willing to show us all of the different dogs, play with them, and they even have a doggy lease program where you actually temporarily adopt the one you want to see if they are a good match with you. If they are, you adopt. If it doesn't work out, no hard feelings and they re-match the dog with someone else. We got lucky and found the perfect match the first time we met her. They provide the animal's health record, all background info on the pet available, and they make sure the pet has been neutered or spayed and had all vaccinations before adoption. They try hard to find these pets great homes and were a breeze to adopt through. Whole process was very seemless. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat! read more

My experience with Dream House Rescue has been a very positive experience. We have had two cats someone left behind or just put out at our apartment complex for the last three years to fin for themselves. New management took over and wanted the cats gone but thankfully my neighbor took in one of them but I was left with the other cat out in the cold but I was able to put her in the basement at times. Sue told Tammy who volunteers there about my situation long story Tammy already being overwhelmed with cats came over a few days before Christmas and got the cat. Needless to say that spoke volumes to about Tammy. She truly has a heart for these precious animals.This rescue is very fortunate to have someone like her working with them. This review was originally left on Facebook. After about two weeks of being harassed, by not only the organization, but others in support of them, I decided to leave it here as well as Google. The group also went back and deleted their comments, some of which I didn't have time to screenshot, but I did get some of it saved. They seem to react that way in every negative review they receive. "I wanted to adopt one kitten, went and met him and his litter mates, then filled out the application for the one I wanted. I was told my application looked great. The woman, not sure who it was because it was through text and I was never given a name, tried pushing two on me even though I explicitly said I only wanted one. After I continuely said no, she said they would need to think about it, because I have two dogs. Both of my dogs have been around cats, one was raised with two older cats. I also planned on having the kitten separated while the dogs happen to be in the house, in it's own room with plenty of play toys, so they could all get used to the smells. My dogs are crated when we aren't home, so the kitten would NEVER be alone with them. I know plenty of people who adopted a kitten and had dogs, I grew up doing that and it was never an issue. I have also volunteered for years at local SPCA's, even growing up. After hearing that, she turned around and said she didn't want the cat being alone. I took both my dogs to training classes. I was essentially told I couldn't adopt one because I wouldn't adopt two. Which is funny after reading a rant they posted earlier this month (Oct 2019) on how they couldn't find anyone to foster the kittens/cats they currently have. Yet, you would risk not adopting one out? To a good home? I still never heard anything back from her about it either. Just stating my experience dealing with this rescue. Apparently a lot of people have a problem with me leaving this review, but it's what happened to me. Attacking me for leaving a review about my experience only makes it look worse than what it is. The people are absurdly rude to try and deal with, you can leave multiple voice mails without a call back. When you do reach someone they act like it is the worst job in the world. The pet that we did rescue came with a double eye infection, an upper respiratory infection, and a horrible case of the worms. The vet fee's were outrageous to clear up all of the issues. I have never seen such a horrible pet rescue thus far in my life with such miserable people. read more

Absolutely horrible rescue. The volunteers are unorganized and rude. My family was looking at a dog and inquired about her, which took 4 days for an ignorant response of come and meet the dog to get you response. We went down to the adoption event and waited an hour to interact with the dog only to have them start to try to vie us with another potential adoptive family that had just walked up with a that's the way the cookie crumbles response. This is a shame because we would have been a perfect home for the dog. If you are looking to adopt please go to a more organized rescue like Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue. read more

First, I must say they have good intentions. They would love to see each and every one of their dogs go to good homes. The problem is that they have been less than forthcoming about the health of their dogs. We decided to foster before adopting to see how well he interacted with our dog. The dog was coughing and regurgitating a bit on the second day and on the third he had bloody, mucous-filled diarrhea. We could not risk infecting our dog with whatever this poor guy had, so we asked to have him seen by their vet and kept by them until he was well again. We were told to take him to Banfield, so we dropped him off and arranged to have Dream House pick him up. After calling the vet ourselves to check on him, we found that they REFUSED the vet's recommended testing and treatment. We also were told - by one of the ladies from Dream House - that they "do not believe in giving the dogs medications" and that includes heartworm treatments and VACCINATIONS! This dog, we were told at the time we agreed to foster him, was "up to date" on his regular shots, but come to find out, he had only been given a rabies shot. This put our dog's health at risk and, unfortunately, prevented us from giving that wonderful little guy the opportunity to join our family. Honestly, we want to give him a home, but we cannot support an organization that does not have or execute a plan to send healthy, adoptable pets to their forever homes. If I could put zero stars I would. I read everyone's review and was super excited about adopting a dog I fell in love with at a petsmart adoption day. We got to play with the dog for quite a while and decided she was a perfect fit for our new family. The volunteer working with me and my husband was extremely excited and hopefully that we would get the dog... After being told we would receive a phone call from the foster family about a pick up date, we heard nothing for days. Me and my husband bought all the necessary items for a dog then we got a call saying that due to taking a closer look at our application, we are no longer able to adopt our dream dog... The reasons were that we were too young (we are both 20) and also because we live in a apartment. An apartment that is on the ground floor with ample amounts of green space, me and my husband are extremely active, and to mention only work 3 days a week. But apparently we are not capable of caring for the dog. "We would not give a dog to a family who lives in a apartment. Sorry that you can't get this dog. *hung up." I was not mean or rude, I was trying to be extremely kind and respectful despite my utter disappointment and sadness. There is never a reason to hang up on someone! I've never written a review before but I don't want others to be heart broken like my family. Please don't adopt from this company!!! (unless you have crazy amounts of money with a castle as a home, 27+ acres, a dog trainer , and don't need a job so you can spend every second with your dog. Then you might get accepted). read more
