The sign is popular. Many come to here to get a shot that they have visited San Antonio. Along the St Mary Street, you can find cowboy riding armadillo, Beastie Boy, let fiesta, king portrait, raven, guitar men, and more mural. It is definitely a street to visit. And don't forget to visit the St Mar Street below I-35. The pillars are mural by various artists.

such a great mural if your visiting san Antonio area. i do try to remember and make it a habit…read morethese days where ever i go i try to find a mural of that city and take a picture, this is one of them that i have been able to visit with my kids. this mural is right on the main road with occasional traffic, its kind of a bit hard if you want a straight picture being its not much sidewalk, you would have to somehow go on the street to get a good shot with the family or friends. but i dont recommend you doing that be safe doing so. the area as some really narrow streets with cute little homes and few places to eat and drink and its only few minutes away by car from downtown. if your into art this a good spot to see along with other murals painted around the area.

It replaces a former mural and depicts the mural being recreated by Goodwill employees, all working together for the greater good. It's kind of a meta mosaic; a mosaic recreation of another work, being recreated in the work. Jesse Trevino is an epic San Antonio artist. If you look close by to this mural, you'll see his mosaic of an angel with a broken wing at the Santa Rosa Christus children's hospital behind you. Then there's the world's largest religious votive candle on the other side of the highway from here. Jesse Trevino is a Vietnam War disabled Veteran and uses this city as inspiration for a prolific art career. This is a cool place to hang out in front of the Goodwill. All the buildings around here are cool and old, and they open up onto a little plaza that overlooks Market Square and Milam Park across the busy intersection. If you're gearing up for Fiesta, hanging out at this mural for a few before heading into Fiesta de los Reyes at Market Square is crucial.

Alamo running through the heart of the district. This place gets raging every month during the First Friday of the month, where everyone comes out to see local artists, drink beer, and listen to live music! Parking can be challenging throughout this part of town. You can usually find something if you park along the back streets of King William. This is where I send out-of-towners to experience the 'puro' San Antonio- the best restaurants in town aren't on the Riverwalk, if you ask me! This part of town is very pedestrian friendly- with great walkability! There's great sidewalks, bike lanes and crosswalks. It's a scenic part of town, and worth checking out! Be sure to stop by over at The Friendly Spot for some beers, Bar America for some cocktails, and chips and salsa over at Rosarios!

The statue is all chromed out, with a kid pulling a rope, like he's flying a kite made of butterflies in the shape of a crescent moon. Interesting! The butterfly moon is cantilevered over the water, so it looks perilously perched on the edge of the pond, as if to defy gravity. It's as if the boy running with the kite string is the local individual, striving to drive into what the future holds, and the crescent moon is the community rising up behind him. Moving! Please don't climb on it.

(Another review) Once you park (about 45yards) put your car in neutral and cut the engine.. waaalaaa, your car will move and pick up speed, takes you over the tracks and you end up safely off the tracks Please remember to put your windows down, listen for trains, this is a live track and there are no barriers, or warning lights to make you aware of an oncoming train. What is really Interesting about this place is that the surrounding neighborhood has streets named after the children killed in the tragic bus accident that occurred in the early 70s, or so the legend claims.

We braved the rain and donned our ponchos (which were provided at check-in) and wandered our way through downtown to most of the stops. 10 restaurants doesn't sound like that many, but we were really full by the end and didn't end up trying a couple places...oops. We both discussed how we don't try out enough places downtown and now we have some more spots to add to our rotation! We can't wait to go again next year.

In the entrance of San Fernando's Cathedral, on the west end of Main Plaza there's a little stone sarcophagus. At the fall of the Alamo, Santa Anna ordered all of the defenders' bodies burned at the site where the Centopath is now. As the defenders' bodies burned, it was reported by the Mexican soldiers that their spirits could be seen rising into the sky in the thick black smoke. It doesn't seem like Texans couldn't properly pay homage to the defenders' sacrifice, and it's a rather modest shrine for the price they paid for Texas independence.
