Great weather, great company, great captain, great sail! Captain Harry was a gracious host and we thoroughly enjoyed our sisters' excursion. We brought aboard lunch and wine and enjoyed our 2 hour sail. Captain Harry allowed us to steer, raise the sails, and to pretend like we knew what we were doing:-) If you're looking for a fun way to spend your day, hop aboard Oh Joy II

So, I'm counting my many blessings and the most important blessing is my sweet cutie who decided to surprise me with a fabulous day on the water. We showed up and met with Harry at 10:00 am. We then spent the next 6 hours sailing around Bainbridge Island. We've lived here for a few years now, but this was the first time we sailed around the island. Well, let me say it was BRILLIANT! Our day started off overcast, but the sun decided to shine as the day sailed smoothly by us. I got to spend time just soaking up the experience. My cutie steered us with great guidance from Harry and I took lots of photos, hung out in one of the beanbags, ate my yummy lunch from Jakes, and generally felt the deep gratitude of someone having a wonderful time. We saw seals, Dolphins, and some of the hidden jewels of Bainbridge. It makes me want to learn to sail, so that's the next step, having Harry teach us how to do more than just sit back and enjoy the ride.

You could instantly tell this was not their first time entertaining on this boat and it was obvious from the moment you step aboard. I opted for the food package (highly recommended) which Janaea procured from the absolute best local vendors which included locally made salami, artisan bread, smoked salmon, baked brie, and this was all accompanied by a rose. Captain John and Janaea had many stories and always made sure we were having the best experience possible. Words from this review cannot express how wonderful and truly special this made our engagement and i would recommend this experience to everyone!

My two and a half year old daughter came along for the sail this time and had a grand old time, hair blowing in the wind, fascinated when the sails went up and down. John and Janaea had everything we needed on board to make her safe and comfortable like a child size life jacket and cozy quilts. John told us lots of amazing sailing stories and we all laughed a lot and had a great time. Would recommend a sail with John and Janaea any day!

New public dock in Bainbridge (formerly Winslow) provides affordable short-term moorage for…read morevisiting boaters, but has its hiccups... THE ROSES: Beautiful physical plant. The docks are new and in great condition. The facilities are well-maintained. There are usually volunteer dock helpers around to answer questions who are very nice. The dock features multiple free pump out stations. There is also a superb boat ramp and ample short-term dock space to park your boat while your parking your truck/trailer. Overnight moorage fees are very reasonable (50 cents/foot, $5 a day for power [30 and 50 amp]. There is a pay station that takes credit cards, so you don't have to fumble around for cash. The City Dock is a short walk away from downtown Bainbridge, which is to Seattle what Marin County is to San Franscisco: bursting to the seams with twee boutiques and expensive eateries. THE THORNS: The electrical power situation is frustrating. We couldn't get power because the main breaker was constantly tripping. I was told by one of the dock volunteers that their system was very unstable and had been giving them fits; fortunately we have a big house battery bank and a genset. It is also important to note that this marina is NOT secure; anyone can wander around at any time of the day or night. I wouldn't be concerned about this except for the presence of a really sketchy vagrant wandering around the area. Fortunately the dock volunteers are good about interacting with the folks and figuring out who belongs and who doesn't. Still, don't leave your $800 Steiner binoculars or iPad laying around for people to see. ROSE OR THORN, DEPENDING ON YOUR SITUATION: Bainbridge City Dock only allows a maximum of two nights moorage. On the plus side, this ensures lots of dock space turnover and no 'campers'. On the other hand, if you are looking to stay in the area for more than a couple of days, you'll have to alternate time on the City Dock with anchoring out in the harbor or looking for transient moorage at the much more expensive (but well-maintained and secure) Winslow Wharf Marina. THE VERDICT: Good facility in a protected harbor that offers short-term moorage at a giveaway price. Don't be in a position where you NEED power, though; you might not get it.

My husband is a huge Sleepless in Seattle fan and the highlight of the evening was passing the floating house. The food was amazing. Everything was farm to fork fresh and prepared by a chef onboard. I highly recommend the crab cakes and homemade bourbon ice-cream. The pace of the evening was lovely, it didn't feel rushed or lagging.
