We were under Kate's (owner) teaching for almost a…read moreyear, I felt like she did a great job teaching and was safe, but the last couple months have been filled with last min cancellations on her end - literally an hour or two before the lesson would begin, I would get a text and then when it came to rescheduling, I wouldn't get a response and we would have to discuss it at the next lesson; she wouldn't say this, I would just have to bring it up. A couple of weeks ago, she claimed she was in over her head with OTHER responsibilities and would have to move lesson days. After I wanted more clarification and to find out what's actually going on, I wouldn't hear anything; no answer of my calls, no text back and no call back. Even when we wanted to discuss it in person she deliberately avoided us. After continually reaching out, she decided to send me an email late at night claiming she's dropping us. The way it was worded was quite rude and no apology on her end of the no communication. It's unfortunate because her teaching was great and my daughter loved the place and now is very upset. But coming from a business owner myself, it was extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate and could've been dealt with WAY better and differently. Sad we wasted almost a year here, but guess it's good to see the true colors of Kate and take our energy and money to a better place.

Hey this little train ride is pretty fun! After seeing this on TV, it was added to our list of…read more"cheaper things to do on the weekends" and it's totally worth it! First thing I suggest is to make sure they are running the trains, their schedule is only on select days so it's worth it to check it out before heading over. Second, get there early! We got here right at opening and the line was already getting long. Though it moved pretty quickly once the trains started running. And finally bring the kids lol, our two year old did just fine and he had a blast! The trains are easy to sit on and once it gets going there's plenty for the little ones to see. They operate via donations so keep that in mind and support this awesome service!

I've spent some time as a hiking guide up in Denali Alaska, so I suppose I may be a bit biased, but when I choose to go out on a trip with a guide, it's because I would like for them to share expertise and keep me safe; both of which fell a bit short for me on this particular trip. I also recognize it was very early in the season, so some of the staff were training and brand new. However, the whole experience felt a bit unorganized, honestly, and like we were just being rushed in and out. Luckily I am a decently experienced kayaker and it's so hard to have a horrible time out on the water with gorgeous weather and good company!

An overcast and drippy morning...excellent weather for getting out. I just love this trail. I have watched various wetlands restorations here over the years and always thought this was being performed by volunteers. I don't think that is the case with the current projects. Quite a number of heavy equipment, and large areas being worked. Very nice to see. The paths are all clearly marked, and easy for most people to walk. Plus they have tables and benches along the trail should you want or need to catch your breath. So, go enjoy this beauty.

I stumbled upon Kayak Brinnon on a google search was soo excited to see that Christina, the owner, is a biologist who also offers tours. We signed up for the Pulali Point tour with her, and added on two crab pots! The morning of our tour she called to cancel because of an incoming storm. Thankfully she was really flexible and scheduled us for bright and early the next day. We had a great adventure on this tour - spotting harbor porpoises, bald eagles, kingfishers, and many many seals and seal pups! Christina is a great resource and I would highly recommend taking this tour with her expertise nearby. Icing on the cake was catching some crabs on our way back. What a great trip!

We were really anticipating this, the woman offered to reschedule us for the next Saturday but I declined due to the fact I rearranged my whole work schedule to make this class and wasn't willing to let than happen twice. They start off with a half hour introduction that includes each of their backgrounds regarding kayaking experience and some of the knowledge they have gained that pertains to the kayaking tour. Then they give a brief lesson about the bioluminescent plankton, then the safety talk. By the end of the talk you can tell how much they all love what they do and how committed they are to making sure you are safe and that you have a wonderful experience. The kayaking was easy, nothing strenuous, making it easy to watch the bioluminescence. And the bioluminescence was absolutely magical! They look like fireflies in the water! You can light them up with your paddle or even your hands. If you stir the water and scoop it up you can even get some lit-up plankton in your hand.. I would highly recommend Olympic Outdoor Center for this tour and we plan on returning again!

Neither my dad or I had ever kayaked before and honestly we were terrible at it initially but one of the guides came over by us with words of encouragement and eventually we were able to pick it up and get into a rhythm. It ended up being quite a fun and memorable experience! The bioluminescent plankton was subtle but still quite magical looking and just being out on the water under the night sky was breathtakingly beautiful. My dad and I agreed that we would absolutely come back and do this again!
