For my wedding, my bridesmaids and I had many wonderful compliments on our hair and makeup. I hired Leah to do hair and makeup for myself (mother of the groom) and 5 other members of my family. She was very responsive from my initial contact through the morning of the big day and made the planning process so easy. After exhaustive research, I decided to book Dreamcatcher Artistry for my wedding hair & make-up. Leah responded to my e-mails quickly, and answered all of my questions. She came up with a "getting ready" timeline for the day of the wedding, which was super helpful for me (especially since i didn't have a coordinator)! I was traveling to Santa Barbara from out of state a few days before the wedding, but we managed to squeeze in an HMU trial a couple of days before the wedding. Not only was Adrieanna was super sweet, and fun to talk to, but she made me look beautiful too! I showed her a couple of reference photos, and kind of asked for a mish-mash of things - i like the braid from one photo, and the side-swept curls from the other photo...i like the eye make-up from photo A and the romantic "glow" from photo B. She made it work, and really brought together the look i was hoping for! it was really worth it to do the HMU trial. knowing how everything would look and come together - it was really one less thing to worry about. on the day of the wedding, she also did my mom's make-up. mom pretty much never wears make-up, so she was kind of nervous. Adrieanna put her at ease, and mom put her trust in Adrieanna. mom's make-up turned out great, and her smile when she looked in the mirror was just radiant! i was up next, and everything went smoothly and according to our scheduled timetable. My husband and I eloped at the Courthouse at the end of May. At first I didn't think I wanted my hair and makeup done professionally but the more I thought about it, the more I wanted it done. I found Dreamcatcher Artistry on Yelp and all of the prior reviews are definitely true. I had called/emailed a few other local professional makeup places to check out rates and Dreamcatcher definitely had the best rates. I don't wear makeup on a daily basis and when I do, it's really light and minimal makeup. "the girl just came home from the beach and took a quick shower and is throwing on her couture frock. I had the pleasure of working with Leah and she was amazing from the start! When I began my search for a make-up artist, she was one of the few that had actually returned back my call/e-mail. At one time she had plans to be out of town, and I greatly appreciated her letting me know so that I was not hanging around waiting for her to respond. 4.5 stars: bridesmaid make up and hair on point and beautiful, my bridal make up also beautiful, bridal hair fell a little short. I found Dreamcatcher Artistry on yelp just 3 1/2 months before my October 2013 wedding and chose to go with them based solely on the yelp reviews. My wedding was in Santa Barbara and I live in the San Francisco bay area, but communication with Leah was always extremely professional, courteous and impressively quick. Prices were competitive for the local research that I had done, at $180 for bridal hair and airbrush make up, $120 for the trial, and $130 for wedding party hair and make up. My trial with Katie and Rachele for hair and make up went pretty well -- my make up was really pretty but not quite dramatic enough for photos, and my face (which is very oily prone), ended up quite oily very shortly after the trial. We also learned that my hair only held a curl for about an hour and a half, (I went with a half up, half down curled look), and the final look needed to be tweaked a bit. I voiced my concern with Leah and she was very appropriate, and reassured me that she would have her hair artist use a different technique that would hold the curls for my wedding day, but couldn't provide any help with my oily skin problem. Still, I was not nervous about the wedding day based on the trial. On the wedding day Katie and Rachele were really great with my bridesmaids and mother of the groom. They were both very professional and calm, and everyone's hair and make up turned out exactly how they wanted, even with all their styles. I told Rachele I wanted a more dramatic look for my make up, so she started out lighter and went heavier as requested. I loved the final result! She is a true artist. I used a mattifying primer and had no problem with oiliness that day. My hair turned out much more beautiful than the trial as well, and the curls even held pretty well for most of the night. The girls both stayed past their scheduled time to help finish with placing the veil and whatnot, which was very nice of them. Great communication and great artists! Although I am a regular user of yelp I have never written reviews until now. My wedding was last weekend in Santa Barbara and some of my vendors were EXCELLENT! On top of my list is Leah with Dreamcatcher. Let me start at the beginning. I am from out of town so picking my vendors was quite the challenge but thanks to yelp and the quickness of responses from Leah, hair and makeup was easy. Aside from being very fairly priced, Leah was quick to answer all my questions and very accommodating as well. In the beginning it was my bridesmaids and I. Then shortly after, we added my mom, and then my aunt AND then only a week before added the grooms mom. And, Leah did everything to make the needed changes. So, the night before my hair and makeup trial I was extremely ill. I was up all night with some kind of bug/flu. Leah met me at the hotel I was staying and got to work. She made me look like a princess! Although I had initially planned on standard makeup, Leah added lashes and airbrush which was great! Everyone had told me how great I looked and had a hard time believing I was as sick as I said. The next day when it was time for the real deal, I was even more impressed! She showed up on time and was very flexible in the scheduling. Prior to the big day we had put together a schedule with who would be getting hair/makeup done and when. However when the day came, it was a disaster. My mom, sister and I were running late so we're not around but Leah made it Work by substituting my aunt, etc. On top of it all, the grooms mom was not able to get away so Leah made a trip to the venue to do her hair and makeup. I had also asked her to stick around for touchups which she did, but I should have asked her to stand by as security. She guarded the door when guests tried to come in, and gave me multiple pointers from how to use the bathroom in the wedding dress and drink out of a straw (which she had already packed and ready to use). So to sum up, Leah is freaking amazing!! She also had a helper which I did not get a chance to work with personally but the rest of the bridal party were impressed. In addition to the killer prices (trust me I shopped around), her talent is unbelievable! And what makes her even better is her friendly and professional personality with her willingness to accommodate YOU . I don't know what I would have done without Leah on my wedding day!! After doing extensive research and reading many positive reviews, I chose Dreamcatcher Artistry to do my hair and makeup for my wedding. About the only good things I can say are that the artist I worked with was very nice and the owner was great about communicating promptly (everything was done via email). I wanted beachy waves and understated makeup, and I had several pictures of the look I was going for. My makeup for the trial run was pretty good (though the foundation coverage was a bit sheer), but she did my hair in very tight corkscrew curls (remember that I asked for beachy waves). It looked ok...after I ran my hands through it and shook it out many times over the next four or five hours. I had my regular hairdresser trim and color my hair a week before the wedding. After she dried it, she curled it into those beachy waves I so wanted and took some pictures of her handiwork. I showed those photos to the Dreamcatcher hair/makeup artist on my wedding day, thinking that would do the trick. I also told her I wanted a teensy bit more foundation coverage - more towards medium-ish. When she was done, my hair looked like I was channeling Veronica Lake. The retro look is great for some people; I am not one of them. My makeup was very, VERY different from the photos I'd shown her at the trial run and what she'd done then (she had photos of me from the trial run, too). The foundation was a mask and my eyes were nothing like what I asked for. I'm 45 and the makeup made me look even older. Yay me. On my wedding day, I was SO unhappy with my hair and makeup, but there wasn't time to redo it, so I didn't say anything. That's my mistake, I guess, but I really don't think she could've done much to undo the ugliness within the time I had before I had to head out for the ceremony. After she left, I just cried and my sister (not a hairdresser) tried to do some damage control on those massive waves. As I said, though, we had very little time, so she wasn't able to do much. I didn't have any of my own makeup, so fixing that wasn't possible either. What I ended up with is a wonderful day with wonderful photos that would be a lot better if I weren't in them. It's devastating to me that I'll spend the rest of my life looking at wedding photos and HATE the way I look in every single one of them - great photos of my terrible hair and makeup. I hate the way I looked so much that I gave serious consideration to getting all dressed up again (and having my new husband do the same, obviously), doing my own hair and makeup, and engaging our fabulous photographer (Cherry Thomas of ByCherry Photography) to have new shots taken. But I'd still have reception photos and wedding party photos where I look atrocious. And, even if the new photos were great, they'd be photos of some random day where we played dress-up, not of our otherwise wonderful wedding day. My recommendation: find a different company to do your hair and makeup. I certainly wish I had. I hired Dreamcatcher Artistry for my hair and makeup for my wedding and was lucky enough that the owner, Leah, was available on my wedding day. She is incredible in every way. She was kind enough to do 2 hair trials because I was very indecisive about my hair and didn't know what I wanted. On the day of my wedding, I decided to change yet again and she handled it so effortlessly and smoothly! My hair and make up turned out perfect! It was exactly the vision I had for my big day and I am very grateful to this extremely talented woman for making it happen. Besides being talented and highly adaptive to my needs and suggestions, she's fun and a blast to have hanging with you and your bridesmaids while getting ready. Leah and her team just did all of my Wedding party hair and makeup this past Saturday in Montecito. We were all beyond words AMAZED at how incredible the hair and makeup was. We wanted the look to be natural but enhanced and it was just that! My makeup and the wedding parties hair stayed flawless for the entire event which was 8 hours! Everyone kept complimenting me on how fresh and I looked even at the end of the wedding. They couldn't believe I looked as amazing as I did at the end of the night as I did walking down the aisle.
