This is one of those experiences where one word can't be used to describe my time at DREAMS RIVIERA CANCUN RESORT SPA. However... if I had to sum it up in one word, it would be Astounding! The calm that is present at Dreams Riviera Cancún Resort and Spa is one that is truly appreciated. There is a stillness of the atmosphere that allows you to get lost in the joy, fun, water, food, and ambiance of the resort. Arriving at the resort was easy and smooth thanks to Lima's Travel. I was picked up from the airport, the instructions were clear, the service was amazing, and my driver got me to Dreams Riviera Cancún Resort and Spa without any issue. Getting out of the van was the start of my experience. The concierge of Dreams Riviera Cancún Resort and Spa welcomed me with fresh fruit water, champagne, and a cool towel. They took my bags and assisted me in getting to the desk. At the desk, I provided my name, confirmed my booking type and was checked in within minutes. As I arrived around 11:22 am and check-in wasn't until 3:00 pm, I had to wait to get assigned a room and get in. I was able to leave my luggage with the concierge, connect to the wi-fi, and begin my exploration of Dreams Riviera Cancún Resort and Spa. At 2:37 pm, my room was ready. I finalized my check-in, connected back with my concierge, Sergio, and was off to my room. As we walked, Sergio discussed the main area points of the resort and gave me the rundown on the shows, restaurants, and most important, the coffee. Arriving to my room was easy. The building was clean, offered amazing views, and the elevator worked and smelled tropical. As I opened my door to 2547, the experience of Dreams Riviera Cancún Resort and Spa went to an entirely different level as the design aesthetic of the room, amount of space, and class level took my breath away. I'm talking nothing but eye catching, comfort, design, and luxury. The King Size bed was in the perfect spot facing the patio which allowed me to take advantage of my pool/water front view. The organizational structure of the furniture afforded me the chance to have extreme comfort, though I wasn't home. Dreams Riviera Cancún Resort and Spa truly kept the customer in mind when setting up the room. Sergio dropped my bags, welcomed me home, and I was on my way to continuing my experience. As I was traveling for a wedding, my first two days were filled with wedding prep on day 1 and the actual wedding itself on day 2, however, though I was busy, the wedding coordinator ensured to build the schedule so we had time to enjoy the offerings of Dreams Riviera Cancún Resort and Spa. I started my mornings in the Hot Tub, followed by the Infinity Pool, and ended my alone time in the ocean. Though the algae was in ABUNDANCE, Dreams Riviera Cancún Resort and Spa did their best to maintain the shoreline so we could get to the water. As I can't blame the resort for what the ocean spits out, I appreciate their daily efforts to maintain the shore line and keep the pile up as minimal as possible. My time at Dreams Riviera Cancún Resort and Spa allowed me to fall in love with resort life. Their food offerings, comfort setup, and balance was amazing. The staff provided superior service at all points of contact and Sergio (his name in English is George Clooney he said. LoL) was truly amazing. As I departed from Dreams Riviera Cancún Resort and Spa I was already checking my calendar to plan my next visit. Thank you to the entire Dreams Riviera Cancún Resort and Spa staff, Lomax Travel staff, and Special Thank you to, Sergio for my introduction and departure care provided during my stay at Dreams Riviera Cancún Resort and Spa.

I would love to be able to give 5 stars, the bartenders and room service guys were absolutely awesome. Unfortunately overall this resort was pretty underwhelming. My hubby and I came 3 years ago and I would have given 5 stars. This time unfortunately not. We chose this resort because of the restaurants. They have a great variety. Unfortunately upon dining here they have cut their menus into 1/4 of what their website shows. They even have a tablet in the room to review the menus prior to dining and none of them have been updated so we got excited to go eat some of favorites from last time and to try some new things and they had none of it. Even their in room dining menus are not consistent to what they serve. Had they updated their website to what they actually have we 100% would have went to a different resort. They are on top of it I have to say, room cleaning knocks at your door at least 3 times a day, as well as they call you a minimum 5 times a day, so if you want efficiency they have it, just a little too excessive for my liking. The pools are nice and the view is great. The smell is a lot lol! That's obviously not the resorts fault, but yuck!

An overall great experience at Dreams Riviera! Went from Thursday to Sunday with a group of friends... arranged transportation to and from airport in advance and took about 30 mins to get there. The resort itself has a good amount of pool space -- lots of activities during the day like sand volleyball and food pop-ups. Angie was an awesome and fun activity organizer at Dreams. At the swim up bar, Wilbert was very personable and the whole staff made great drinks. The spa was really enjoyable - highly recommend treating yourself there. At night time the lobby is popping with people listening to music and playing cards. Restaurants were just OK which is the main reason I am only giving 4 stars... excellent variety but definitely catered to serving quantity over quality. The French restaurant and Hibachi were fun and recommend making resos. Desserts were sub-par everywhere. Overall - a good family friendly resort and decent bang for the buck for an all-inclusive. You will see 1-2 weddings/ per day while there which being friendly people from all over!

This resort was excellent. The grounds are kept immaculate and the employees are constantly giving 100% to make sure that your time is a great time and are never wanting for anything. The pools and beach both had plenty of seating (people do throw towels down around 7/8am to reserve chairs). My wife were able to always find a spot near the pool we liked. I do imagine though that it may be a bit more hectic during their prime season. There's many included activities available to guests and one of my wife's and my favorite was the bike tour into puerto Morelos. I would def come back to this resort and after staying here I'm now considering staying at other dreams resorts in the future. The resort seemed to have a wedding every night but they never felt intrusive to the guests. This place really knows how to do a destination wedding and I can see why people choose to do them here.

Dreams Riviera is a nice beautiful relaxing family resort. The employees are wonderful, and their spa center is amazing. They have 3 large pools, one being a swim up bar pool. The beach is well maintained. But the time of year we visited (Late November) the beach water was full of seaweed. Because of this we were advised at times to not enter. So your main time was spent, in one of the swimming pools. There are about 5-7 actual restaurants and 4 bars at this location. The food was decent, if you understand that other countries foods do not taste like American food. Then you won't be disappointed. I feel this resort's biggest problem is, they lack activities for the guest. Now they do have one performance or activity a day. But for the size of the resort, they should've had at least 3-4 things for people to do other than swimming in the pool. Yes you can do excursions, but they could've had several free activities. Such as, interactive shows, more cookouts, hobbies and crafts, and even a small animal show. I'm not sure if the lack of activities, was done purposefully. Because they spent quite a bit of time, trying to promote you to visit their newly built resort 10mins away. For an additional $199 you could spend two nights at their new resort, and they would shuttle you there. Another disappointing thing was, after 8-8:30 the pools close down as well as several bars. Finding food during certain times can be a challenge, because of the time slots the restaurants are scheduled on. For example, the pool area has 3 restaurants. But only 1 or 2 maybe open. If your not into hotdogs and hamburgers, your left with one restaurant then. I also feel this resort caters to weddings, more than the regular guest. They have about 2 weddings a day, and because of this. Right away you notice, that sections of the beach/pool areas are no longer accessible to you. They literally move your things, and tell you that you have to leave the area for the wedding. They also close restaurants off from you as well. If your looking for a wedding destination, I feel you hit the jackpot with this resort. They accommodate the wedding party very well. As for the rooms, they could use a deep cleaning. One to many stains in the linen, along with to many blonde hairs (I'm bald, wife has black hair) laying around. The fixtures could be updated as well. I still found this resort good, because I accepted what it really was. A wedding destination resort, with a relaxing pool area.

We have stayed at many all inclusives and this was a good one, though not the best. Pros: -A ton of pools! If you're a pool person, you'll love it. - 3 weddings a day happen on the property so plenty of happy people in love and you can watch them all -Our garden room really was beautiful, one of our favorites. -The entertainment crew in the day time really is amazing. They work so hard to keep you active, involve you in fun activities, and you can tell they're really having fun. -The property is so pretty. Lots of lighting, greenery, tropical trees and flowers, and a beautiful little walk to the gym/spa. Cons: - The water isn't pretty blue, so know that going into it. Riviera maya is super seaweedy, and though they clean the beach daily, it still gets in and isn't pretty. If you're a beach person, you might not love this. -The food is mediocre- which was shocking! We loved the food in Dreams Cabo so we are really looking forward to the food, But here- meh. The hamburger at the pool cafe was my Favorite thing I ate all week. -The drive up to the resort isn't anything special. It actually feels a little sketch and not as nice, but once you get inside the gates it's pretty. - 3 weddings a day happen on the property haha Soo some restaurants and areas aren't open all the time or close early

The tub looked so dirty i didn't want to get in it

I just got back from Mexico. I love being there. I made the mistake of booking this place it was not a dream but a nightmare. We arrived there only to wait for our bags to come to the room but after waiting we had to go get them ourselves. The room was no better than motel 6. The room looked outdated and dingy. We even paid extra for VIP and we were so disappointed. The grounds themselves are very nice but the rooms leave alot to be desired. The food is so nasty in every restaurant. They need to really take a hard look at the food it left alot to be desired. The phone in the room was not working when we arrived neither were the outlets. The staff really tries and they are mostly really nice. I was very disappointed. They really need to change the pictures on their site. You do not get what you see.

We had an incident at the hotel with cockroaches, the food is not great and make sure you're ready for a time share pitch. For such an expensive stay, we would only expect the best and the two cockroaches we found in our room are unacceptable. It made for a very stressful stay. We were trying to resolve things at the hotel and the front desk said because they weren't paid yet by Destination Wewddings they could not do anything to help. On the other side Destination Weddings said, of course the hotel was paid as they wouldn't allow people to stay if it wasn't. Trying to get someone who could help us at the hotel was super frustrating and posting this as all they wanted to know is who we spoke to at the hotel. Please find photos and a video attached.

My only recommendations for guests, is that some of the restaurants have a dress code (my husband hates pants, so we had to buy him a pair at the gift shop), bring sunscreen/sunglasses/wide brim hat/after sun care, and if you get eaten to death my mosquitos bring bug spray. I was thinking about why I liked CDM so much. We were only there 3 nights and then went down to…read moreAkumal, but it left such an impression on me. I've stayed in more luxurious places, including Danielles in Venice. I think I know the CDM secret. It was the lack of people that you see. Nothing and no-one annoyed me here. Even in luxurious places, there is likely someone who will be annoying, or rude or abrupt or loud, or arrogant or whatever. In fact, some of the "exclusive" places have some very arrogant and superior people, and that detracts from the experience. But I don't need to tell you how annoying people can be, do I? Not that people can't be very nice also, but the more people around, the more chance someone will detract from your experience. But when you don't even come across other people (except the ones you bring with), there's no-one to possibly bother you. You go to the beautiful pool, and there's no-one there. Not even anyone doing the "reserve our lounge chairs with towels at the crack of dawn game", when they don't use them till noon. None of that stupid stuff, and no screaming kids doing cannonballs in the pool (not that I don't like kids). The beautiful pool might as well be in your own back yard. You don't hear the adjacent room through the thick walls, and you don't even see other room balconies. The grounds are designed so every balcony is private. No-ones front door is next to yours, or even nearby. You look out over the grounds and virtually no-one is walking around. You go to the pier and it's empty of people. You go to the beach and no-one is there also. You pick your favorite lounge chair location and it's open just waiting for you. The staff here were all nice and subdued and not intrusive, but were friendly if you chatted a bit to them. When they bring your breakfast trays in the morning to your room, they place it in a hutch by the front door and you don't even see them! Look at the pictures I posted. The professional ones are from the CDM website and mine are the others. You'll notice there's no-one in the pictures. Other resorts have to rope off the area to get deserted pictures like those, and when you get there it is overrun by strangers. Not at CDM. When you think of that, you should try to stay here if you ever can, even for a few days. It's actually great value for the money. What an awesome experience. They do destination weddings here, and that probably feels like you rented the whole resort, cause I'm sure the other guests would stay out of your way. I can't think of another place like CDM.

If you're going to stay here, make sure you let them know when you're going to arrive as there doesn't seem to be a front desk. I called when we got there and we waited for about 10 minutes until Genevieve got there. Not a problem though because I do understand it's not really a traditional hotel. The grounds themselves are beautiful. There's lots of green space, and there's also a little pond with two turtles in it. Hopefully someone is feeding the turtles because when we were there we gave them like 2 whole avocados over the span of 3 or 4 days - them seemed famished. The pool is OUTSTANDING. It's not a traditional pool, there's not really much space to sunbathe, but it felt SO good after a long, hot day at the beach or walking around town. Plus it overlooks the ocean. Our favorite part of the place was the rooftop. Stunning views. Unfortunately the room we stayed in had window that overlooked a tree and a wall. There was a little window at the top of that wall, and no curtains on it, which made for a daily wake up time of whenever the sun came up. BUT, their neighbors started building a wall right outside that window. The stairs they were using to get to their roof were right outside that window, and any of the workers could've looked in our room, and directly down into the bathroom/toilet. I let management know and they came not more than two hours later to measure the window and make a mesh curtain for it. I was VERY pleased with how quickly they reacted to my email. It's unfortunate (and not Layla's fault) that there was a wall built, but I suppose that solved the sunrise wake up every morning. Other than that the room (selva) was nice. It had a little cooktop, sink, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. The refrigerator froze almost everything we put in there, and we were unable to mess with the temperature. They had dish soap, hand soap, and I think body wash as well. Beach towels were provided though they're old and stained. The pillows were mish mash as were the pillow cases. I thought they had a restaurant and yoga classes and a salon, but everything was closed. Overall I'd recommend this place. It's a wonderfully affordable option and the entire staff is nice (I think we interacted with 5 of them; they'd come during the daytime). The views can't be beat, and the quietness of the location really amplified the charm that is Puerto Morelos!!!!

It's not because the new management has stopped breakfast which over the last year had deteriorated badly even though on each of the websites for this hotel still to this day claim to include. It's not because of the three minutes of hot water each day. It's not because of the mattresses being older than the pillows It is about my wife in tears for three days, not being able to sleep blaming mosquito bites, causing itching and the grossest welts I have seen in a very long time, when the reality is the bedbug infestation in two of the rooms. Refer to the pictures I've supplied. It's about the black mold on some of the curtains and has been wiped from the walls in the bathroom, but not remediated it's about the weird cough that I started having since arriving at your hotel which seems to have magically gone away since we left. One day, our paths may cross again, but in the meantime, please for health reasons be very, very careful about this hotel.

The family suite had two double beds, a large closet and a kitchenette. The deluxe single had a double bed and a fold out couch. The balconies are shared. Beautiful garden pathways give the illusion of nature yet it's right on the street so it was a bit noisy towards the front. Restaurant is pricey- it was empty when we checked in at prime dinner time. Breakfast included is toast fruit and juice but you can buy eggs. Nice people work here and own the place. The pool was small and is open 9-9. They have a shuttle to the airport for a fee.

The Amar Inn was adorable and the staff were very friendly and nice. Our room was clean and bathroom too. I could totally come back and stay in Puerto Morelos in the future. It's more of a sleepy beach town in comparison to the more developed cities nearby. There was also a very cute dog that belonged to the owner and hung out in the patio area.

It is a beautifully manicured place with some rooms, some cabins... and a delicious, like 3 course breakfast. First some kind of bread or toast item, then fruit and yogurt, then like chciken fajitas and beans with flour tortillas that seemed homemade, or maybe a delicious fresh tostada. The breakfasts change and they even asked if we were able to eat different foods - really the family is so beautiful and considerate and calm. honestly it is perfect. We had a delightful cabin with two double beds, a tv, a/c a kitchen, dining table, bathroom and furniture. It was great. It had a rustic aspect, and a rustic thing happened lol. Even though i would not exactly call an apartment with electricity and cable rustic... it is in a certain way. I just can't bring myself to say what lol. I would describe the hotel as "one lot back" from the beach. the location is excellent and in a way... it is on the beach because of te extense of the beach, but there is another building between the sea and the Amar Inn so it is not oceanfront... though some rooms probably have sea view depending on how they are situated. But there is a little road to the beach. Perfect. Puerto morelos is a quiet relaxing town. We are too old for playa del carmen. We love to just chill here. There are some great relaxing restaurants on the sea.... once you are hungry after eating an insanely huge brekfast. Thanks Amar Inn - Do your thing! We will never forget you!

You don't get used to it. Wifi service is almost not existent. A complete joke here. The food isn't that good. The stations are often empty. Service is slow. Although there were a few bright spots with friendly people, the majority of the wait staff clearly didn't want to be here. 1 STAR

I was disappointed and dissatisfied with the facilities, service, and food not to mention the hard timeshare sell for $65k timeshare after a week in hell???... um no. We ate at the seafood restaurant night one which was terrible easily the worst meal of my stay, the dinner buffet was also not good, and I hated every minute of the timeshare presentation! The Mediterranean restaurant lost our reservation was never got to try it. Room service basically non existent called for help twice but wait time over 90 minutes!! Our room smelled like mold and mildew- we changed rooms 3 times. The humidity in the rooms is so high (over 70%) the finally staff brought a dehumidifier on day 3 but then if I didn't empty every four hours it stopped working. We paid for premium platinum upgrade and was put in a moldy building next to an active construction site, they were actively building next to the premium beach upgrade area. The elevator smelled so badly of mold I took the stairs every day. Despite expressing my dissatisfaction every day the hotel REFUSED to refund any of the premium upgrade money ($700) . My travel agent is also FIRED for sending us here.
