I am writing to update my rating as I can not condone the business practices of this clinic. I am not sure what happened but suddenly I was blocked from booking without any discussion or feedback. I had been supporting this business for years, and even tipped although they are not cheap. From my end, all of my interactions seemed fine until my last session. And I participated in conversations initiated by many of the male therapists (mostly about gender and gay politics). It seemed that we were either on the same page, or at least open to discussion regarding complex issues. Apparently, things were not okay; and even though these discussions were initiated by the therapists, there were later conversations among them that they were "uncomfortable" with me; specifically the way I "talked to them", whatever the hell that means. It was either these "talks", or requests /feedback re: areas of focus for the bodywork (during which I have always tried to be respectful since I am also a bodyworker). I would have been open to considering their view IF they had given me the courtesy of letting me know there was an issue. Instead, they let it go for months without the ability to continue to book beyond the multiple appts already scheduled, or providing any notification. In fact, I DID call and was told it was probably a glitch. I had another visit w/ a different therapist who complained about older ppl (i'm 60). I was completely unhappy after her session; but instead of trashing her, I figured I would just see other therapists and move on. That was UNTIL I got the email that I was basically uninvited. Instead of using this as a learning tool, providing any warning/ feedback, or even getting my input/ side, this is how they handled it. I actually would have tried to be helpful, make amends, apologize, or work on the situation, but now I don't even care to understand what their complaint was about. And i'm sure those therapists who were so unhappy with me still accepted my tip. They sure didn't complain or make suggestions while they were charging me. It's fine that therapists choose their clientele, but maybe just shut up and rub instead of bringing up debate opinions in session? Or be adult enough to address whatever concerns you enough to talk about someone behind their back. It's a good thing there are so many other bodyworkers in this town. Choose one. read more

George S. at Dreamscape has magic hands. For me, finding the right therapist feels like a science at times and finding George was like finding the holy grail. I'm one of those people that prefers getting to the point of almost wincing in pain from a deep tissue massage, and George has the strength and precision that us true deep tissue lovers crave, while somehow still being gentle and relaxing enough to allow you to melt away. I do strength training 5-6 times a week, travel quite a bit for work (when things are normal) and generally put my body through the ringer. I can honestly say, 2 hours on his table is the highlight of my week. If I just need to turn my brain off and let me body relax after a long week, he's been able to get me to a point where I'm so relaxed I wake myself up from snoring like a freight train during the massage. Now that his hands have had time to understand my body and problem areas, he's been able to really get in there and work out the most stubborn knots, relieve tension headaches, and stretch me out after a hard workout with ease. Seriously, George has the equivalent of "The Force" in his hands. He should probably just change his last name to Skywalker. As a birthday present, my girlfriend scheduled me a 90-minute massage with Cameron, who she has seen before. She always raved about how good the massages were and has told me repeatedly I needed to schedule one with him. I didn't so she did it for me and I'm glad she did. I definitely prefer deep tissue massage and that's exactly what Cameron did. He's a very chill dude who really cares about his clients and how he can help them. He had a variety of scents available to help his clients relax. I told him what I did for a living and what I do for exercise and it didn't take long for him to get his focus to the sore spots. He took a few minutes afterwards to show me some stretches to help a couple of things. The environment at Dreamscape is very relaxing. It's very clean and just a tranquil spot to get your relax on. My poor, aged ass loves this place. I beat the living crap out of my body because it has to run - HAS TO. I have recently found that if I don't run at least every other day, I GO BAT SHIT CRAZY. You see, I ran, ran, ran, like a little gazelle for most of my twenties, in an on and off sort of way - when I needed to. Whatever. And then for my thirties, I sat on my ass. And it spread. Like you would not believe. Until one day, I realized that my fat ass was going to kill me sooner than I wanted to be killed. So I ran, ran, ran, ran....every mother fucking day, until that ass was gone. And then I ran some more! Because I LOVE running. I love to take a ride on my body, and get all high on my own strength and natural chemical reactions. So I ran sometimes for hours - up hill, in the woods, in weird places in cities I don't know because that's sometimes what happens....And it was always GLORIOUS. And then I became injured. Because old+active=injured. So I backed off on the running a little, because I always want to be able to do it. So I ran. A little, maybe once a week. And I went bat shit fucking crazy. So now I run, run....run. And my ass hurts. All the time. Thank GOD Mariah Anastasi can rub, rub, rub, rub me back to feeling halfway human and put shit back where it belongs, so I can jar it out of place again. :| It's cool, because it's only $70 to come back and have her fix me again, and again....and again. Perhaps for some people massage is just no big whoop. Like, maybe you are a person who trusts that the world is going to be gentle with you, and so getting naked on a table and letting someone go to town on the precious and fragile vessel that is your body doesn't feel incredibly vulnerable. If you are a person like that; congratulations. I am not a person like that, and because people are people, and the world is an intense and challenging place, I'm pretty sure some of you might not be either. For me giving myself up to massage is a fraught and uneasy experience, and I am often lousy with anxiety right before, especially with someone new. So, why do it? Because when you get a massage from someone who is energetically loving, thoughtful about their work, and intuitive about your body that makes for a pretty healing time. Cameron is all that and a bag of chips. He was affirming and respectful. He found all the crunchy bits, many I didn't even realize were there, and worked them out with incredible efficiency. Not only was it disappointing and frustrating at getting half of what I had intended to book, the masseuse charged me for 30 minutes worth ($50 where an hour cost $80) and took the entire tip! I am now left with a $20 credit which doesn't even get me another 30 minutes, ALL BECAUSE he misunderstood what I had intended to book!! I have no idea how an hour long gift certificate was interpreted as a 30 minute appointment. Felt so gypped since it was expensive and took away from what was meant to be a thoughtful gift my bf. I have been hopping around different massage places in Seattle since moving here a year ago trying to find someone that would fix the chronic tightness and shooting pain in my left shoulder, and I'm so relieved to have finally found someone as capable and good at her job as Samantha is. I recommended a few of my coworkers and friends and they have all told me they were super impressed with the massage and professionalism, and need to go back asap! I was training for a half marathon and injured my knee half way in and thought this was the end. Went to get a massage with Cameron and told him all about it and literally, after two sessions, I believe that he helped me with my recovery. Cue the sounds of angels on high singing their angel songs and strumming their lovely harps, because I've found Shangri-La right here on Broadway! So let's break it down... I was in 2 offroad motorcycle accidents as a teenager, and I was in a horrific roll over car wreck back in '94 out at Moclips/Pacific Beach (yeah, great fuckin' vacation THAT was!). Needless to say, my body has taken a beating over the years, and Mariah at Dreamscape has the know-how and strength to help put this humpty dumpty back together again. For many years, I lived with fairly shitty back and neck pain as a result of my adolescent recklessness and associated shenannigans (draw your own conclusion there...). Mariah's massages are strong, they're consistant, and they're effective. My now-occasional chriropractic visits coupled with my more-often massage visits, help me to NOT walk around with a scowl on my face, or my palm supporting my back from the pain! The interior of Dreamscape is very soothing and relaxing too. The place is always very clean, they always have a fresh pitcher of lemon (and/or other citrus fruits?) water in the comfortable waiting area, and they have various aromatherapy items, mostly candles, I think, in the front lobby. read more

I had a great experience at Dreamscape massage today! I had never had a professional massage and wanted to treat myself for my birthday! I was greeted in a very warm and friendly way and the energy here is very relaxing and inviting! Lauren is the one who massaged me, she was friendly and listened to exactly what I wanted and kept checking with me through out the massage to make sure she was applying the amount of pressure I was comfortable with. You won't find a better massage anywhere. Trust me, I get frequent massages (some might say "an excessive amount") and I've gone just about everywhere in Seattle, and THIS. IS. IT. I've taken several friends here, and invariably, their response is WOW. Two of them said it was the best massage of their lives. Not surprised! The people who work here are simply incredible. I can't even choose a favorite, so I will simply list them alphabetically: Cameron: Cameron was essential in my healing from a spinal injury, and I don't know where I'd be without him! I owe so much of my recovery to him!!! I'd trust him to massage literally anyone-- from athletes to the medically fragile-- and give them the perfect massage. Why? Because literally every massage with him is perfect! He strikes the ideal balance between giving a relaxing, pleasant experience, and getting some real work done. I love deep pressure, and he delivers theeeee perfect amount without ever crossing over that line into pain. He has a sixth sense for finding what my body needs that day and working on those areas to leave me feeling so much healthier than when I came in. He also clearly knows his stuff-- and finds ways to massage muscles I didn't even think were massagable! If you're booking a massage for your partner, your elderly mother, your Crossfit buddy, your massage-timid friend, or that person you're trying to impress, you can trust that Cameron will massage them perfectly. I think I'd trust him to deliver my first-born child-- he's that good! Christel: Christel has the most soothing presence and style ever. I do not understand how any person can be as calm and patient as she is! Her strokes are never rushed. They are long, slow, and flow with your breath-- a combo that chills me out. And I'm not a chill person, so that's not easy to do! Her incredible neck and shoulder massages always melt my tension right away. They seem very therapeutic for chronically muscle-tense people. There's something she does with the pressure from her hands that feels unlike other massages-- it feels very secure and supported. It's extremely meditative and lowers my stress level like nothing else. I often go into a dreamlike state only to wake up, having lost track of time ("Has it been 5 seconds or 500 years?") but feeling refreshed like I just got a great night's sleep. It's pretty addicting! I swear the decrease in stress makes everything a little better and easier for days. If you're stressed, have anxiety, feel burnt out, and need some rejuvenation and peace, Christel is your girl! Darcee: If your body has problems, Darcee - will - fix - you. She seems intrinsically motivated to iron out every stubborn knot, and uses an impressive amount of hand strength and effort to make sure it gets done! You'd think every massage she gives, she was being judged for the Massage Olympics, that's how hard she works. She also gives incredible small muscle massages (e.g., hands, jaw-- omg.) And she's the Migraine Queen. She knows from personal experience how jacked up your whole body can become from migraines, and just what to do to relax it. She fixed me when my head, neck, and jaw were all hurting post-migraine, and taught me several tricks I still use to ease headache pain. She's also fixed every other random complaint I've come in with. There's nothing she can't do! She is making the world better, one healed body at a time! If you get headaches or carry tension in your neck/jaw, you owe it to yourself to call Darcee. Joe: Joe might be magic. He can either deliver the deepest deep tissue massage you've ever had, or give the trippiest relaxation massage you didn't know existed. (They have triggered ASMR in me on several occasions. I float out of them on a cloud.) His face massages are on ~another level~ and if you don't ask for one, you are probably missing out on one of the best opportunities of your life. I didn't know how great my eye sockets could feel before I met Joe. His deep tissue massages use a lot of long, trigger-point holds, which allow me to "breathe into" the spots that need relaxing. If you're one of those tough guys who can never get a deep enough massage, you've met your match with Joe. Just be warned, it might be the first time you ever need to ask someone for a lighter pressure! He's crazy strong. If you want to try the deepest deep tissue massage around OR experience pure euphoria in your head/scalp/face muscles, get yourself in to see Joe. I really think Dreamscape is one of the last really good places left on Capitol Hill, and it's because of the people. They are all genuinely GOOD humans with really caring hearts. You wouldn't think it would matter so much, but it really comes across in their massage and makes it a way better, more therapeutic experience. Cameron just gave me one of the best massages I've ever received. I only get massages 2x a year because prices anywhere aren't cheap, but I may need to start coming to Dreamscape on the regular. Cameron really worked at my shoulder knots and it hurt sooo gooood. He was very mindful of the pressure he applied and was great at modifying if I requested more/less. I also felt very comfortable around him right off the bat. Very welcoming spa, and the room was super comfortable - heated pad on the massage table, aromatherapy scents of your choosing (geranium was great), and Cameron used hot towels at the end to wipe off the oils/lotions so I could continue on with my day without needing to take a shower right away. I am a social worker, so stress comes with the territory. A few times a year, I spring for a massage to prevent fiery burn out/anxiety explosion, and this time I thought I would try Dreamscape since it's so close to my house and also because they could fit me in same day (which was exciting, since I suck at planning ahead). From the outside, the place looks pretty unassuming, but once inside it's a pleasant surprise! Really nice, peaceful, clean space. I saw April for a 60 minute massage and it was amazing! She had a kind manner and really took time to ask me about what I was hoping for in a massage. I tend to snooze during massages, but what I remember was great and when it was over I hardly knew where/who I was (in a blissful kind of way!). Free aromatherapy comes with the massage (if you want it) so the rest of the night I had a faint, pleasant, lemongrass smelly. And you can opt for peppermint oil (also free) as a finishing touch, so my back felt wonderfully tingly for a few hours. AAAAND you get a baby peppermint patty when it's all over. SCORE! I am already squirreling away cash for my next visit (although in terms of massages, it's reasonably priced)! read more

I used to see a massage therapist occasionally before I moved to Seattle (over a year and a half ago). I finally decided to find someone here after some of the most stressful months of my life! I am an extremely social person, which has tricked massage therapists into thinking that I want to talk during my massages...I do not! Samantha was very intuitive. I needed relaxation and tension-relief. She gave me just that! She worked on areas that I didn't even realize I was tense in. After the massage, I got a peppermint patty, warm towel, and a cotton pad with peppermint oil to help wake me up. I felt completely pampered. The atmosphere was so cozy. Contrary to what seems to be the average opinion of this establishment, my experience has been totally unacceptable. My first appointment resulted in a one hour delay and subsititute therapist whose skills were not in line with what I needed for treatment related to a major fall. My second appointment resulted in the therapist going walkabout and not showing up for my appointment at all on a day when I was really in need of help with my neck and shoulder area.
