Outstanding dental practice. We are so luck to have found them. My daughter cannot have local anesthesia and needed full sedation. It was a nightmare trying to get dentists to work on her and as a result, she was in extreme pain and needed extensive work. Dreamtime staff and doctors are outstanding. They are patient, caring and did excellent work. My daughter had a very long operation with multiple root canals, crowns and cavities. That was three weeks ago, and she is pain free for the first time in YEARS!! They worked with MediCal, too, which was SO helpful. We had very little out of pocket cost. She will be going back for more work, and she is finally not terrified of the dentist. read more

I had a great experience with my daughter when she went in for treatment I was updated on whet ever changed or was needed. They were very welcoming and nice since the store my child is a bit shy n timid with new places and people but they did not force anything they went along with how she responded to them. The day of her produce they let me know how everything went and what to expect they always remained me of what was going to be done and what to expect. Have been taking my daughter here for over a year now I love the staff And Dr.Watkins explains everything so well he is very gentle. My daughter has anxiety and requires sedation we have always had a good experience here with her sedation. And I love that staff follows up with the parents after the child has gone home after sedation. I would give all staff a 5+ rating . I have been going to DreamTime Dentistry for over 7 years and have referred several people. I moved out of Carlsbad and would travel 30 minutes because the Dentists and Dental hygienist are great! Unfortunately, because Veronica is extremely rude and snarky I will be ending my services with this dental facility!! When someone is explaining how they have multiple insurances you don't need to constantly cut them off in conversation and be extremely rude. It's funny how I called a new location 15 minutes after our conversation and they had zero issues when I explained to them my insurances, which they were able to locate and confirm in less than 30 minutes. read more

I can't believe grownup me is saying this, but I enjoy coming to the dentist! Logistics are super easy, whether booking and modifying appointments via email, phone, or the online ZocDoc system; scheduling is a breeze. I've never had a problem parking during the weekday lunch hour either. All my services have been great, from cleanings, xrays, mouth-guard fitment, etc. Dr. Phan is clearly skilled at her job, and together with Marta they take great care of me. The social atmosphere makes this place stand out as a dental office, as everyone is very personable and friendly. Everything from procedures to billing very clearly explained, and getting in and out of here just seems so simple. As long as I work/live in North County, Dr. Phan will be my go-to! read more

I am sad to be leaving Dream Time Dentistry. It was a great practice at one time. I originally started coming (several years ago) because of the wonderful staff and Dentist. The dentist set up a treatment plan for me, to keep my gum disease under control. Dream time would do my regular cleaning and a dentist they recommended would do my Periodontal Maintenance. I would alternate between the two. This went on fine for several years. But something has changed within the last month with them. I went for my regular cleaning, and there was a new hygienist, she wasn't the best, even though I could see she was trying so I didn't complain. But when I was leaving, the Dentist that I usually see was sitting at the front desk. She didn't even speak to me. That was disturbing. Then I received a bill from them saying that I owe a co-pay for Periodontal Maintenance. They do not do my Periodontal Maintenance they do my cleanings which my insurance pays 100% for. I called to inquire about this and was told that I had been billed incorrectly all those years. The woman on the phone, Nancy she had been brought in to correct this problems. There was no incorrect billings, Dream time does not do my Maintenance. I was billed for what they had done, regular cleanings. Then she told me that she would have the Dentist review my case and if he agreed with what I was saying then they would not charge me. But she would wave the co- fee this one time because she could hear I was upset. REALLY! She was going to wave the fee because I was upset not because they were wrong to charge me for a service they didn't do. And the Doctor was going to review a plan that they had designed, to see if it was right. This treatment plan was set up by Dream Time, why all of a sudden are they charging me for a service that they had me go to another Dentist for. Didn't sound right to me. I asked her who Ryan Watkins, DDS was (His name was on the bill) as I had never heard that name before, she told me he was the owner and had been all along. Then I asked would I have the same Dentist and she told me she was no longer there but a new Dentist was. I asked if they notify when Dentist leave and she basically told me, No! So I won't be coming back. They changed the billing, and changed the staff and the practice isn't the same!! read more

I would never recommend this place to anyone. Dr. Garcia was the dentist we saw. He had no bedside manner. He said things about my daughter's teeth, that were not fact. I went to another dentist today. And he couldn't even figure out how to get the overhead light placed correctly to look into my daughters mouth. He was horrible. I am reporting him to the dental board. And the receptionist was rude. The assistant was the only one who was nice. Run as fast as you can. They are crooks. read more

If you are reading this and you consider yourself a person who is afraid of going to the dentist, I would encourage you to give Dreamtime a call and see if they can help you. I have never worked with a dental group that takes care of me as well as Dreamtime. Dr. Phan does an amazing job at what she does. She is seriously the best dentist I have ever had. I have never been one to say that I enjoy going to the dentist for a teeth cleaning, but I can honestly say that I have a fun time when I go to Dreamtime. Her team remembers my name, asks me about any issues I had in the past, and makes great recommendations on things I can do to avoid any problems in the future. The reception team is super friendly and helpful. Their reminder system is great for me because I am terrible at remembering when my appointments are. Plus they have a toy chest! I would have loved that as a kid... Like I said, if you have an aversion to dentist offices, please consider Dreamtime as an option to help you get past that. This practice is amazing! The staff is great and I don't feel like I'm being taken advantage of. I took my daughter here yesterday because she developed an abscess above her baby tooth that had a cavity. They got us in for an appointment so fast, check in was smooth and easy, the procedure was fast and painless for my daughter. She left saying she wanted to go back there every time! I took my 2 kids (4 year old) to Dreamtime Dentistry for a dental checkup. Dr. Ryan Watkins examined them and informed me that my daughter needed one crowns plus 6 filings and my son would need 2 crowns and several fillings. He said that the work would need to be performed by putting them under general anesthesia because the work to be done was very extensive. He said that without general anesthesia it would take seven or more visits to complete the treatment and that they would be traumatized by the end of the visits. I trusted Dr. Watkins and I agreed with the treatment plan. half way thought my son's procedure a lady came and ask me to sign authorizations to remove one teeth and place 5 more crown on his mouth. She said the cavities were way worse than Dr. Watkins thought at first. I asked if there was any other treatment option and she said "no". I was afraid of my son wake up from general anesthesia and then have to put him under again dance I make up my mind, so I signed the authorization. But it didn't feel righting then I canceled my daughters procedure (she was going to be the next) and took them for a second opinion. After taking X-rays and examination my daughters teeth, the new dentist found out she had only 2 cavities!!! The cavities were smaller enough to be treated just with fillings and no crown at all was needed at that point!!!!!!!!!! And no general anesthesia was needed either!!!!!!!! I told her Dr. Watkins diagnosis was much different from that. she double checked my daughters teeth, took more X-rays and told me that 100% sure she only had 2 cavities!!!! Just to make sure took my daughter to a 3rd dentist that also only found 2 cavities on her and no crowns needed!!!!!! Also she took a look on my son's pre- procedure X-rays and told me that out of the 7 crowns that Dr. Watkins put on him 4 of them were completely unnecessary being that 3 teeth had superficial cavities that could be treated with filling and one of them HAD NO CAVITY AT ALL!!!! Yes Dr. Watkins put a crown on a completely good health teeth. The new Dr. is assuming he maybe did it because this is the crown he put the spacer for the tooth he extracted, but in that case just a dental spacer is what suppose to be done because it is less invasive. Also after investigating his license with the California Dental Board I found out there is another case filed against him! Be aware Dr. Watkins is operating in a irresponsible, unprofessional, fraudulent and negligent manner. read more

I'd give this place NEGATIVE Stars if I could. This morning was traumatic to say the least. My 3 year old had his first ever dentist app. If you know my son you know he's a pretty apprehensive kid. My son does not like medical anything. Ever since he was basically forced into a CAT scan machine he's pretty fearful of anything that looks anything like that. The dentist chair was no exception. At first he wanted nothing to do with it then he told me he wanted to be brave and sit by himself. So he did and we took this photo. Then the dentist came in and was just not kind. Not warm. Not friendly. I told him he needed to take things slow with my son and explain to him what was going on.. because you know, I'm his mama and I know better. And because he's 3. Come on. Instead he ignored me and of course my son freaked out. He started by lowering the chair without explaining that he was going to do that. The chair was pretty loud and actually startled me and my son wanted to get off right away since he didn't know what was going on. Then I finally asked if he could just sit on my lap. He said okay (he was clearly irritated) at this point he was basically forcing my son's head down commanding me to "grab his arms" and " hold him down" and of course I felt awful. The kicker (besides them wanting to x-ray my son before even LOOKING in his mouth. I obviously said no) was when the dentist was leaving he turns back to me and looks me dead in the face and says "remember, you're in charge. Not him." And walked out. I was blown away. The good news is no cavities. I am just so sad his first experience had to be traumatic because of a cranky not sympathetic person. I just can't believe this man attempted to say anything to me regarding my parenting. I am clearly in control of my child... but I don't just ignore his very real fear. A little patiences and kindness goes a long way and this place had NONE of those things... which I find very important when working with kids. read more

Dr. Watkins has seen my 8 year old daughter twice. Once for an exam and also for a procedure under general anesthesia. Our experience was neither terrific nor terrible. The PEAK... (of the experience) was that the work was done quickly and done well. The general anesthesia prevented my daughter from a traumatic experience. The PIT...was the lack of "bedside manner". There was no conversation between Dr. Watkins and my daughter, despite her attempt at both appointments. I was uncomfortable that no explanation was given to my daughter pre-anesthesia. The receptionist was friendly and her follow-up call to check on my daughter was reassuring. One of the dental assistants was also very comforting post-procedure. Choosing Dreamtime Dentistry was more a decision based on insurance coverage than personal choice and my daughter will return. read more

My experience was rushed but stretched far too long. Over 2 hours. It seemed I was a training dummy for the new students fresh out of school. My X-rays took forever. Once the dentist actually arrived she was hurried and spoke a million miles per hour, it was hard to keep up and register and ask questions when she is speaking in such a hurried manner and constantly keeping things in my mouth. I felt like she was itching to just get me done and move on. I made an appointment, so you should've made your schedule accordingly to spend time with me and my needs. I suspected a cavity forming in my back upper teeth and she said after my cleaning she would check on it. I never saw her again and endured the longest polishing I have ever had with a student who was obviously nervous as hell. So, I don't know what's going on with my tooth and any preventable steps I could take, well, can't be taken because I don't know what to do. I was then escorted out and didn't leave with a piece of mind that I was taken care of and seen as a patient. The cherry on top was the child in the room across from me screaming at the top of his lungs. Plus their referral to a Periodontist was to a practice that was once a great place, but when the original doctor retired, a new guy took over, kept the name, and it has had bad ratings and has been downhill since. I feel I am having to do so much of my own research because they couldn't take the time and care. I'll be double checking and doubting my first recommendation next time when I go to my health insurance provider to find a doctor I need. I suppose this place doesn't specialize in adults and I wish I was informed of that. I will not be returning for my 6 month check up with Dreamtime Dentistry. read more

The staff and Dr Phan were very friendly and did a great job cleaning my teeth. However, after getting my X-rays, she determined I had two new cavities and that two old fillings needed to be replaced. This required two separate follow-up appointments to do two fillings each time. I hadn't had a cavity in almost 20 years, so I found this rather strange. I went to Dr Packard for a second opinion, and was told I had no new cavities and only one filling needed to be replaced. I'm so glad I got the second opinion, as I hate getting fillings and wouldn't want to go through all of that unnecessarily. Not sure if they were trying to get more money or what, but I would hesitate to trust their filling recommendations. read more

Taking a 5 year old to the dentist can be a nightmare. Fortunately, Dreamtime Dentistry staff and Dr Watkins made our experience very pleasant. The front office personnel were extremely friendly and efficient and although small, the waiting room was very comfortable and kid friendly. As soon as we were done with the necessary paperwork, my daughter was called back. Before taking her x-rays, the tech very patiently and expertly explained the process to her (in perfect 5 year old lingo) which worked wonders to relieve any anxiety she was feeling. When it came time for the exam Dr. Watkins very thoroughly checked each of her teeth and reviewed the X-rays with my daughter and myself. The cleaning was made fun by the assistant who made sure to point out potential problem areas and tips to me as she worked. On the way out my daughter asked "When can we come back?" With great dental experiences like this there is no question where we will schedule her future dental appointments! read more

Maggie the receptionist is very helpful and has a sweet welcoming personality. She is very easy to work and communicate with especially with insurance questions! I had my first dentist visit in years with Dr. Phan today. She is very nice and friendly to start. She advised me on my molars that haven't broken through and even wrote me a referral to get them looked at. At my last Dentist visit years ago at a different practice in AZ I had mentioned I thought I had cavities, but they didn't address it. They have since got worse and I have more. Dr. Phan was very clear in showing and explaining what I can do to do fix it now and stop them from getting worse. They work with my insurance (TriCare) and I was amazing how low my out of pocket price will be. They cleaned my teeth on the spot, polished, flossed and rinsed me... I can't speak for this place now but 2 or 3 years back it was awful. The dentist accidentally scraped my gums because he was in a rush and and then told me I had 7 cavities. The assistant went along with it when i asked her if i really had 7. I didn't feel right about them so I switched to Packard dental who told me i had 3. I'm so glad i switched read more

My kids and I love Dreamtime Dentistry because they put caring back into dentistry. I personally do no like going to the dentist, but when I do go I know the staff really cares about my experience. They always make sure I am comfortable and if any pain occurs, they take the utmost care in reducing it. (I have a high sensitivity level so I can be a difficult patient to treat sometimes) My kids have no qualms of going to the dentist, which says a lot about the care they provide.
