Sooooo I'm only reviewing this for Dr Nguyen and his team- they are fantastic- but I don't want you the reader to hog up all the appointments! He's hard to get into but the best! How he remembers everyone is amazing! So kind and gentle. I'm scared of dentists and he makes it an easy appointment, dare I say enjoyable. He had been our family Dentist for years now, and I have referred over 10 people (even my Boss- which could be bad if he had a problem) we all love him and his reasonable prices since we don't have dental insurance! Um so first, I had cavities but they neither bothered me nor did I feel any pain. I went in and had a very rough handed cleaning and planned for the cavities. I decided to see since I didn't have insurance at the time and it was reasonably priced. Big fat mistake I know, but let me warn you even if you have insurance! Rough handed in my cavities, not nearly enough novocaine and I felt it all and even asked for more! After asking other dentists and telling them how much they gave me, they said that was ridiculous since it was such low dosage it would hardly do anything! Finally endured the terrible procedure and found my newly filled cavities to be so painful so chew! I was encouraged to come back free of charge to do adjustments so that it can be made right. Which I came back three separate times, explaining the pain and hoping for a resolution. Each time the adjustment did nothing, and I felt as if I was not being believed that I couldn't (and still cannot) chew on my left side now. I also was criticized by the dentist that it was because I wasn't "trying to eat on the side" "push through the little pain" and "that he couldn't get it exactly right because of my underbite" simply making excuses and putting it on me, even though I didn't even have pain in my cavities to begin with. Your job is to take care of my teeth and make it so that I'm able to use them, but instead, now I am unable to use my teeth and I am having pain! Cavities I should hope would be a ballpark, easy simple task for a dentist with so much experience to do but obviously I was wrong. All in all, I think he is shallow and not worth even the cheap price. I want to warn anyone that is debating going here and steer them to a better dentist! Dentist trauma is not a joke, and it simply hurts good businesses that take care of their patients! read more

My first and last time coming here. I would give zero stars if I could. I work in healthcare so I am quite forgiving because I understand it is extremely difficult with customer service. This experience was truly awful. Pros: - Clean facility - Easy to find location - Clear signage - Parking free and in front Cons: - Dentist is rushing appt, I have NEVER had a 6 month cleaning appt where the cleaning portion only lasts 15 mins - Dentist did not explain what he is doing in my mouth BEFORE performing procedure. Just puts instruments in my mouth and doesn't say why - Dentist YELLING back and forth to front desk receptionist WHILE INSTRUMENTS ARE IN MY MOUTH throughout appt - Dentist argues with me - Dentist bumps instruments into my teeth instead of asking me to open my mouth - I am a new patient and dentist looks over my paperwork in less than 20 seconds - Dentist says my X-ray "looks fine" from another room and does not come out to end the appt I understand that appts run late. But do not rush direct patient care. Do not argue with patients (he ended up apologizing and saying he was proved wrong). Do not say my appt "alright you're good to go" without looking at my X-ray and then giving me me attitude when I ask about my X-ray. You say I was okay to leave and you were not done with your rushed, sloppy work. Also, when asked if he normally yells, he says yes. Not my taste. If you don't mind these things than, go on ahead to this establishment. Highly disappointed. Will not come back. read more

It's hard to find a trustworthy dentist, but Dr. Nguyen is beyond legit. He's thorough, explains everything he's doing, and is attentive to your comfort/pain levels when performing his procedures. Dentists are either con artists or actual doctors, and Dr. Nguyen is definitively the latter. Someone in an earlier review mentioned how he talks/yells to his receptionist across multiple rooms, and while he does do that, I personally didn't mind. It wasn't affecting my procedures or comfort and I found it kind of endearing. He has a busy office which is both good and bad. It's busy because many people like Dr. Nguyen and love returning to his office, but that means it's a little more difficult to get an earlier appointment so definitely plan ahead if you want to make a visit. read more

Dr. Nguyen is beyond wonderful. This guy is super honest. Has wonderful prices (like...beyond wonderful prices). Is crazy conservative (a very good thing in dentistry). And he just plain cares. I have had endless conversations with him after-hours about my teeth and it's always an awesome learning experience, and he always leaves me feeling more at ease about my situation. I have had over 10 cavities filled with him. He's taken care of me of through it all--explained everything in total detail (for an engineer, very useful and desirable), and been really accommodating. He repeatedly told me to hold off on a having a root canal for an incredibly sensitive molar that had just been unnecessarily crowned and I am thankful for that advice to this day! He also saved another molar from being crowned and just filled it, instead (composite, too). 2 years on, no problem. His composite fillings have terrific margins and are super smooth, too. Come here. Seriously. This is the only honest dentist I've ever found. No upsells. No subtle deceptive suggestions. Nothing negative at all. And really great, honest prices. Truly. As a result, he's really busy. A busy dentist is the sign of a good dentist! read more

Dr. Nguyen is like family to us and treats us like one. My whole family comes here (mom, sister, husband, godchildren, and brother-in-law). I refer him to all my friends and family. Prior to finding Dr. Nguyen, I would switch dentist multiple times because I was not happy with his/her work and/or I would get mixed messages regarding my teeth along with a heavy price tag. Until I was referred to Dr. Nguyen a couple of years ago, I have not turned back. He's done major and minor work on me and has done a superb job. He is professional, trustworthy, friendly, honest, affordable, and most importantly does really great work. Also, the staff members are very friendly. I feel comfortable every time I visit. The only thing I'd recommend would be to improve customer service (better follow through - a few times my appt. was not on the books so I'd have to reschedule). I know they are busy and mistakes happen :). Overall, hands down the best dentist and I highly, highly recommend him. You will not be disappointed, trust me!!! read more

Around Christmas I started to develop a pretty extreme pain in the back left, lower corner of my mouth. I tried to put things off because my last three dental experiences have been terrible. My friend Conrad recommended me to Dr. Nguyen. Wow, what a great guy. He saw me immediately when I went in, even though I wasn't on the schedule, evaluated me as needing to pull a molar or do a root canal. He even gave me a temporary tooth fill to keep the pain down. Well, I didn't make it to my appointment and had to go in on Tuesday. He ended up pulling my molar. My long and curved roots made it a very difficult job but the quality of work was fantastic. There was minimal bleeding and he didn't scar or rip my lip (things I've had happen at other dentists). The final price out the door was a song compared to what I was expecting. This is a great place. I will be going back for my cleanings from now on. read more

Honestly 0 stars is I had the option. Rushed the appointment and threw instruments on my chest as he removed my wisdom tooth which I think was unnecessary. Dr. Nguyen removed 1 wisdom tooth and the pain was unbearable, worst pain in my life. The pain was so agonizing that I started to cry. I had many questions but he had to cut the visit short because he had other patients waiting. Poor patient care overall. Yells to other staff that are not in the room. I would give Zero star if possible. I had an appointment at 8:00 AM and got there 15 min earlier to do paper work as a new patient. But No one showed until 8:10. The receptionist was very rude and she did not apologize at all complaining about traffic jams for late reasons. And I couldn't see the dentist until I leave. It was an appointment three weeks ago and I got a call to confirm it yesterday. Now, I made an appointment with another dentistry and have to wait 2 more weeks to treat my cavity. I decided to take my boys here based on the yelp reviews. The doctor is very nice and friendly. The dentist assistant that sits up front and assits looks constantly mad. This is my second time here and she just looks pissed off lol. Didn't see her crack a smile at all. I am NOT a person of few words, so I will keep this abbreviated. Dr. Nguyen is an amazing person/professional/ DENTAL ADVISOR. I have been to so very many "professionals" in North San Diego County (none of whom agreed upon anything), out-of-state, OUT OF THE COUNTRY!, and have never had a feeling of comfort after a dental experience. My dental issues are from relatively recent events, so I had very little "fear factor" growing up; but Dr. Nguyen not only has major talent with reference to aesthetics in dentistry, but he listens and hears and remembers EVERYTHING. That is just plain awesome. I am disappointed that I discovered him (and his amazing staff) just recently, but I feel grateful that I did. Long over due Dr. Nguyen thru a friend a few years ago. Thanks to my dads genes I have always had problems with my teeth, being a single mom makes it very difficult to afford dental insurance. I went from dentist to dentist and paid lots and lots of money to try and have my teeth repaired . At one time I paid 3,000.00 dollars for my front two teeth to have veneers and each front tooth was a different color.. when I explained to that dentist she told me wait until one falls out and would then fix it. . Well I'm sorry I'm a Cosmotologist and my appearance and smile mean alot to me. I ended up going to Mexico because I felt i had spent so much money already how much worse can Mexico be. . But then i met a friend who said I have a dentist who is honest and very good. . This was in 2009, I had an emergency and called Dr. Nguyen the staff booked me immediately and fixed my problem. Now I can probably say going to the dentist is not all that fun. . But if I have to be poked with needles and drilled there is no other dentist better! ! His whole staff is wonderful. He has worked with me over the years in repairing my teeth in and within my budget.. his office is filled with humor and they have all become a very important part of my life :). Just went to see Dr. Nguyen at Vista Downtown Dental on the recommendation of my sister who said he was an awesome dentist that really cared about his patients. Located on Main St in Vista, you can park right in front of the office. Has that nice small town feel to it. Dr. Nguyen was awesome. Told and showed me exactly what was causing my pain and the options for fixing it. At some chain dental offices, the managers are often more concerned about the bottom line rather than what a patient truly needs. Dr. Nguyen really listens and works with his patients though. Something I had been missing in the big high-tech office I had been going to. Had a great experience at Vista Downtown Dental On the day of my appointment, I called their office to see if they had any earlier appointments available. The receptionist was very friendly and offered me an appointment at 12pm; however, I told her that I wouldn't be able to make it at that time. The receptionist then asked Dr. Nguyen if they could switch lunches to 12pm, so that they could schedule me at 1. I really appreciate that they were willing to adjust their schedule for my convenience. The dental office has a "homey" feeling, and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. After explaining my dental insurance situation (it will be in effect on 01/01/2012), Dr. Nguyen was very understanding and was very much willing to help me. After taking an x-ray of my teeth, Dr. Nguyen showed me what was causing my tooth ache, and explained my best options. He was very reasonable with pricing, and offered to assist with any financial planning for the payment knowing that I am currently a college student. During the procedure, Dr. Nguyen and his assistant made sure I was comfortable, and frequently made sure that I was not in any kind of pain. Overall, this dentist and his staff are very friendly, honest, and have a great sense of humor. Highly recommend. read more

I have never enjoyed going to the dentist, and after a few bad experiences at other dental offices I was really reluctant to continue going. My fiance suggested Dr. Nguyen at this office for a dental check up. I have now been to this office twice and I can say I have never had a better experience with any other dentist. Dr. Nguyen is friendly, professional, extremely competent, gentle and fair. He is not looking to con anyone to get extra work done so he can make money. In fact, I went to his office expecting to get 3 cavities filled and he decided after taking additional xrays to only fill 2! My fillings went extremely well and he was very gentle, I had no pain or discomfort. He has been treating my fiance for years and has always given him excellent care. I absolutely love Dr Ky. I switched my doctor recently because my previous doctor wasn't affordable for me anymore and I knew I have some tooth problem that I need to get done. I was referred to him by one of my friends who is a patient of his for years and her family always go to him. His office is very clean and the staff are very friendly. He went over my file and explained all the problems to me which exactly matched my previous doctor's opinion. His pricing is very fair and affordable. He was already able to take care of my lower right teeth in one session which was a big deal to me. He explained every action he took (not that I understood but at least it's a sense of comfort to know your doctor cares and he takes the time). Five stars are not enough for this dental office. It is a miracle that I am even writing this, because I hated the dentist. I put it off for way too long. I only came in a few months back because of what seemed like a tooth problem. The pain was unbearable and I had to face my fear of visiting the dentist. Well lucky for me it wasn't a tooth problem, it was a sinus infection that was causing pressure, and Dr. Nguyen was quick to figure it out. I left without any work done that day and just a prescription for antibiotics but I was so impressed at how at ease I was made to feel by all the staff. I decided he was going to be my new go to dentist for all my work. Now after two root canals, some cavities and a cleaning, I'm so happy I found this place and was converted. I actually look forward to visiting. Never have I ever felt pressured to get work done that I dont need. I've been going to Dr. Nguyen (I gladly drive from Temecula) for just over three years now, and have referred 4 other people plus my husband. Two of those folks drive over an hour to get to him. He is like a needle in a haystack in today's world of corporate up-selling dentistry: an expert who puts his patients' needs before profit. He is conservative in his approach, and appreciates that not everyone has unlimited income. I found Dr. "Ky" after my Temecula dentist tried to scare me into a new type of xray that would find cracks in my teeth. Luckily, I saw in Consumer Reports that these xray machines were just money makers for dentists and I moved on. Dr. Ky keeps his office small and tightly run. He does cleanings himself with an assistant while giving a detailed exam. While he was fitting a crown for me, I think he took the new crown off and put it on close to a dozen times, each time honing a little off, to get it just perfect. An obsessive perfectionist is just what I want in a dentist. Very sweet man, too. read more
