Unfortunately, I made the choice of going to Belmar Family Medical since they could get me in quickly. I would never recommend that office. Back to Dr. Atkins. From the moment she walked in the door we both literally thought we had met each other somewhere before. She was great! Very personable, happy and talkative, unlike the experience at Belmar. She asked a lot of questions about the accident and how I was feeling. She actually seemed like she wanted to know and really cared about my pain and the anxiety I now have when driving. She discussed our plan of action on getting some physical therapy done to help with my recovery. When I left her office almost an hour later I was so happy to have found a doctor in Colorado that I felt comfortable with! I was so excited that before I started the car I had to call my daughter to tell her. I sat there for probably 10 minutes just gushing over how excited I was and told my daughter that I would now be bringing her there as well because she's getting too old to see her Pediatrician anymore (she's 17!). Linda in the office was also fun and a pleasure to have met. She did my weight/height and vitals. The whole experience was just super great!! :)

BEWARE: COMMONSPIRIT RECORDS YOUR VISITS WITHOUT…read moreDISCLOSURE OR PATIENT CONSENT, CHARGES RANDOM, UNDISCLOSED FEES (I.E., UP-CODING/INSURANCE FRAUD, IMO), AND DOUBLES-DOWN ON WRONGDOING INSTEAD OF RESOLVING ISSUES. PER THEIR LAME RESPONSE BELOW: I WAS NOT AT A HOSPITAL AND THEY KNOW IT. I AM NOT CONFUSED ABOUT THEIR BILLING BUT HAVE QUESTIONED THE VALIDITY BASED ON FACTS DESCRIBED IN THIS REVIEW: I booked an appointment for a wellness exam with Dr. Mahoney. My blood pressure/height/weight were recorded by a nurse. Dr. Mahoney came in and appeared to be jacked up on something (he kept rubbing his nose and was hyperactive). He made my weight an issue so I explained I am small-boned due to my ethnicity and that my weight has been consistent for decades. Despite this, Dr. Mahoney dwelled on it. Dr. Mahoney counted this as a "topic discussed" and coded/billed my insurance extra for it. CommonSpirit stated that I raised concerns about my weight which is 100% untrue. Dr. Mahoney "listened" to my heartbeat" while talking incessantly about how his mother-in-law takes testosterone and that it makes women aggressive. I did not ask about testosterone nor did I have any interest in having a drawn-out conversation about it. I did ask about HRT to prevent bone loss. Dr. Mahoney counted all of this as a "topic discussed" and coded/billed my insurance extra for it. Dr. Mahoney told me that he cleaned another patient's ear out ("the son of a cardiologist") and made him bleed so that patient was annoyed with him. I don't blame this patient for being annoyed with Dr. Mahoney for the physical harm caused. I also feel annoyed after my unfortunate experience with Dr. Mahoney. I was not in a gown and other than checking my ears while telling a story about another patient he PHYSICALLY HARMED, and talking about testosterone while listening to my heart, nothing else was done. In addition, Dr. Mahoney forgot to submit paperwork for a requested test. When I received a questionnaire about my experience, I gave honest feedback. I then received a bill from Common Spirit with a new patient fee for $165 to "establish care" that my insurance will not cover. Since I am not going to return to this practice due to gross incompetence, negligence, and unprofessionalism, I reached out to their Patient Representative, Keani to discuss it. In response, I received two very troubling letters from CommonSpirit. In one, the $165 fee is now being called a fee to cover "too many topics discussed beyond the scope of a regular annual exam." (Unfair, as Dr. Mahoney brought up many unnecessary topics.) CommonSpirit also states that Dr. Mahoney used "ambient scribing" to record the entire appointment. This is illegal as it was not disclosed and I did not provide consent. HOWEVER, it can be used in court to confirm everything I describe above. Please note that CommonSpirit only allows 5-star reviews of their doctors on their website which IMO is misleading and unethical. When I asked about this, they said a third-party company collects feedback (i.e., they dodged my question). When I pointed out that one-star reviews appear on other websites, they stated they have "no control" over other platforms (unlike their own platform, which they evidently manipulate). CommonSpirit billed my insurance company over $850...and they want $165 from me. They got more than enough for the worst physical I have ever experienced. I am not paying $165 for that horrendous exam. Attempts by CommonSpirit to remind me to pay $165 will be considered harassment and treated legally as such.

Dr. Amber is the best I have come across in three countries and five states - she's super responsive on email, very respectful of time, appointments are prompt, lots of non-critical things handled by phone and email - and above all she's a very compassionate and technically strong doctor. It's still a small medical practice, and Dr. W does it all herself. She's the closest thing to an old fashioned "family doctor" that I've ever had in my life, yet her practice is completely modern. It's great being able to contact my doctor by email any time of day or night and get replies back (to non-urgent matters) the same way. No bureaucracy, no wasted time filling out paperwork, no navigating through layers of phone menus. Dr. Wobbekind respects my time. Plus, she's easy-going, friendly, and smart. I wish all doctors were this good.

On the other hand, if she feels that a visit with a specialist is needed she doesn't hesitate to make a referral. I've never been kept waiting more than a few minutes past my scheduled appt time and have never felt like I was rushed or didn't have time to ask any questions I had. She in fact spent at least an extra 45 minutes with me at one recent visit - I was much sicker than I realized and she recognized right away that I needed to be transferred to the ER. She made all the necessary calls, and kept an eye on my condition until the paramedics arrived. She is prepared to deal with urgent problems like the one I was having but also takes the time to go thru everything health-related at least every year and makes sure that I'm up to date on my vaccines, etc. I feel very lucky to have found such a competent and empathetic medical provider.

Now after two years, and two annual visits, the last of which was virtual, my five star rating is every bit as valid. There's not a hint of pretentiousness here. She's professional, yet easy going. For instance, there's a certain diagnostic test recommended for women within my age group. For personal reasons I choose not to have one. While she expressed its importance, and urged I have one, she respected my right to choose. I respect and appreciate that. Also, being she's independent, and not part of a busy practice, with multiple physicians, you're all that matters here. There's not a labyrinth of room filled hallways where you're placed inside an exam room waiting for what feels like forever for a doctor to go "knock-knock". With Marie, it's just you. She's there for you at exam time. No long waits. I'll never again choose anyone other than a nurse practitioner as primary care provider. And as long as Marie is available. I'll not choose anyone other than her. She has her own practice, not an office full of employees. When you call she'll likely answer, not a staff member. If you leave a message she won't take long to respond. If you're forgetful and forget to call in a refill, and you run out, she's responsive. I called, left a message on her day off. never expecting her to respond same day. Lo and behold, she did! She called it in right away! She took time away from her day of rest to care for me. I couldn't believe it! Who does that? Marie Amina Aryan, that's who! I'm so fortunate to have found her. Thank you Marie! I'll see you when due. Be well! Best wishes! Sandra Riddell

I'd strongly caution anyone considering this "Emergency & Urgent Care" location due to opaque…read morebilling practices and a lack of meaningful disclosure at the point of care and I should have read the reviews here before visiting. I visited during posted urgent-care hours after a fall. CommonSpirit's public-facing website describes urgent-care pricing during specific hours and states that patients will be informed whether their treatment or testing is being billed at an emergency or urgent-care level. That did not happen during my visit. After the visit, I received a CommonSpirit facility bill totaling $38,591.97 in gross charges -- roughly $31,999.44 of which was for a single CT scan. For context, a brand-new CT scanner costs around $100,000. My concern isn't with the clinicians, who were professional. My concern is with the disclosure practices of the facility itself. Don't assume an organization has your best interest in mind simply because of its marketing or its religious and mission-driven branding. Ask explicitly, before any test or treatment, whether you're being billed at the emergency or urgent-care level -- and get the answer in writing if you can.
