Stayed the night here on our way to Casper from Portland. Reviews raved about the finger steaks, so I decided to give them a go. If you don't know what finger steaks are, imagine chicken fingers, but with steak instead of chicken. The batter tastes like a beer batted fish and chips recipe. I wasn't crazy about it, but it wasn't terrible either. It did feel like I was eating straight canola oil though. Mom and dad had the tilapia piccata and vegetarian Hank and cheese. Visited this restaurant last night finding the atmosphere charming and decorative. When the food arrived it was disappointing. Tiny portions that were overcooked and unappetizing. Fingersteaks tasted close to jerky ,unappealing bland salad, No vegetable with expensive dinner, just potato and small piece of salmon. Appetizer that was literally potato chips with cheese on top. Took out finger steaks tonight for dinner take home. Had not been to Rupert for years and was wanting Finger Steaks. They were burnt, some dry, some mushy. They had t be reheated as it only took them 3 minutes to bring to table. Should of thought of that before I left. they were horrible! Not worth $20.00 read more

Great bar and restaurant with friendly staff. One of those places that feels like home when you visit. Several Ahi Tuna fisher on the menu are my favorites, great lamb chops as well. Is a regular stop for me. read more

The Drift is easily the best pure dining experience in the area. Charlie & Company have done a great job updating the place and have a nice menu with great food. And the finger steaks are still amazing. The one area they fall down is service. They are generally understaffed with waitresses and many of those they have leave a bit to be desired. That may well be because they're perpetually overwhelmed. The patio in particular requires a lot of patience. But it's usually worth it. read more

Their clam chowder is absolutely wonderful! A friend took me there on my birthday after we had been shopping at The Gathering Place. We had clam chowder and finger steaks and wished we had gotten more chowder! My friend mentioned to the waitress that we were celebrating my birthday, and she brought me a slice of cheese cake that was delicious! Delightful lunch! read more

The best finger steaks you will ever taste. Friday they have clam chowder and it is always yummy. All of their soups are made from scratch and sure to please. Try the chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread, yum! read more

Have you ever been turned away from a restaurant because you were a couple people over your anticipated reservation request? Me neither until last night. Yesterday was my daughter's birthday and as usual for birthdays and holidays it turned into a family event. I recommended the "Drift Inn" as my daughter had never been there and wanted to try something different. I called early afternoon to ask if we could make reservations for what I thought would be between 11-15. Turns out we had a couple more confirm last minute and I didn't find out until we were headed to Rupert. My sister had arrived early so asked her to go in and let them know we might have a couple more than originally thought. A couple minutes later my sister called me back and said if we have more than 15 they cannot accommodate us because its "special order?". Still not sure on our number I said well we might be ok. Upon getting to the restaurant we realized we did in fact have a couple more than we anticipated. We were told we needed to talk to the manager so we awkwardly sat there and waited for the manager to come talk to us. You could tell when she emerged from the "kitchen" she had attitude. She came to the table we were gathered around and proceeded to tell us she could not accommodate us our party was too big and that's why reservations were important. I said I did make reservations. She snottily said yes for 11-15 people and our cooks and our staff just can't handle your party. I said are you really turning away 20 peoples worth of business? She said we just can't accommodate you and you are welcome to call Charlie and he will explain how the restaurant business work. I said we are all in or have been in the restaurant business as owners and managers we know how the restaurant business works. She refused to serve us and then had the nerve to say she was trying to be nice and we were being rude. Are you serious? This young lady is not a manager!!! A true manager would have figured out a way to accommodate us!! We knew we had a bigger crowd and we would have waited a little bit we would have been patient and we would have tipped well. Apparently "Charlie" is so wealthy he can just turn away nearly $1000 worth of business for that night and whatever business we would have brought back in the future. My family has firmly said they will not turn and they go out of their way to not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Standing outside of the "Drift Inn" we made a call to Morey's Steakhouse in Burley and although Tracy had 50 National Guard and a restaurant full of people he made space and set up banquet chairs and tables to accommodate us. Yes we had to patiently wait a short amount of time for the server to finish up with the National Guard but the service was great the food was fabulous and most of all the restaurant was willing to accommodate on short notice!!! read more

Made reservations tonight for my daughters birthday told them we would have 15 but we had 17 show up just to let you know 3 of the were under 6 so had one 6 one 2 and one 8 months and we were told they could not accommodate us. this was on a friday at 6:30 pm the manager who was not nice at all came out and basically told us to leave. Then she told me we could call charlie who is the owner and he would explain restaurant management to me. First of all I owned my owned restaurant and my son is the manager of the bar and restaurant at a location in Burley you are expectecting to be busy on a friday but remember i had a reservation. I also teach customer service and sales and I just want you to know you do whatever you need to to accommodate. Manager should be fired she lost out on big bucks. quick figure 20- 25 dollars a person at 17 people pus we were all drinking so that many at 4 to 5 a drink would of been awesome. SO my opinion this restaurant don't want business so don't go there. food is mediocre anyway. I want to give a big thanks to Moreys steak house in Burley we called and told them we had 17 to 20 people he told us to come down. This was one of those lucky finds. I had driven from Burley to Rupert to find my first choice closed on Mondays and noticed this historic building with diners inside which looked interesting. The food was superior and a good value. The tilapia with capers and lemon sauce was perfect and the potato, bacon, and jalapeno soup was to die for. The server was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable about the historic building. Turns out I could have stayed there as well in the renovated rooms. This is one I would go looking for. read more

Great food! We had steak strips and chicken Alfredo (extra hot) both very tasty; especially liked the mashed potatoes! Service was wonderful. Beer was very good and cold. Locals and owners treated us like neighbors. Heartily recommend. read more

This was a highly recommend place to eat...I wish I could return the favor and recommend it to someone else. I don't even know if it deserves a one star rating.. When my family first got there we were seated quickly, or rather we were told to go to a booth and given "directions" on where to go. Then waited a little bit before being given water and menus. We sat for a few minutes and had our order taken. We ordered an appetizer and a couple salads with our meals which did come out quickly. This is where it goes downhill. We waited for over an hour to get our meals. We hadn't realized exactly how long we were waiting until we looked at the time. The waitress had come over several times and asked if we were doing ok but did not say anything about it taking a while until we noticed it had been an hour. Finally after getting tired of waiting we asked if our meals had even been started. We were told that they were 2-5 minutes out so we decided to stay. Our waitress told us that there was a table of 12 that was causing the hold up. At first she was nice because she did apologize but didn't really offer us anything to compensate for that until right before our food finally came out she did say that her manager said they would comp our appetizer. We got our food, we should have been happy right? Nope. I had a sandwich which was warm-ish and the bread was cold. My dad had pasta and his was lukewarm at best. When the waitress asked if he wanted to send it back, we said no because we had waited enough. After that we were quickly given the bill no offer of desert or asking if we wanted anything else. Then we were ignored or forgotten by our waitress. There was a table next to us who came long after we were there and only had to wait approximately five minutes for their food and were attended to by the waitress several times while we were blatantly ignored. She would walk by as if we weren't even there. Finally we had to go ask someone at the front for to-go boxes because we were tired of being snubbed and overlooked. If we had been rude I could slightly understand not wanting to deal with us anymore but we did not yell, and we even said we have some understanding of a busy night because of previous work in the food service industry. We also made it clear when she asked about our food and said it wasn't to our satisfaction that we were not blaming her but she did ask. We decided to leave. As we were leaving there was no apology for the horrible service or even a "have a good night". I am very disappointed in the service. As a former employee of a pretty busy restaurant I expect at least decent customer service. It would have been a good thing to have the manager come talk to us because we were obviously not happy. As we were leaving we noticed a wall decoration that says something like "sit long eat well..." or something I can't remember what it said but it should say "sit long and have crappy service and cold food." read more
