It is nice to have the best aunt in the world there. We sat on the porch looking out at the lake and told stories. We laughed and laughed. In the evening, we went to pop's for fish and chips. I ate the whole thing! It was so good. Then we went for a walk around the campground. The houses are really cute. We went to Wolfeboro in the morning. We had coffee and donuts at a cute bakery. They sat out on the dock watching the boats go by. I tucked in a few stores but I wasn't looking for anything. I hope to come back in August and explore some more. There is so much to do up here. The popular activities are boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, and wildlife viewing.

I ordered a turkey gobbler wrap, which seemed a little off the trail as it is usually served as a sandwich, and had ingredients like hot peppers. Overall good, but I think better with bread. The coconut shrimp starter was very good and the twist here is that it was served with a coconut creme sauce, rather than the traditional orange marmalade. Full disclosure, we are a family of neurodivergent introverts- so some of the things people really talked about liking here, were stressful. I don't want to talk to strangers on my vacation. Even if the strangers are quite lovely. The second thing was we overlapped with two family reunions. Both families very nice, but within the pavilion is not just the fireplace and grills, but a bar. As a person in recovery, being this close to constant drinking was uncomfortable and had I known about it I would have skipped it. The owners also let their dog roam around, so be aware if any of your party has a fear of dogs. The only place to swim involves you jumping off the dock into area deep enough for boats to dock, so we had to find state parks each day. The beds were comfortable. The view was nice. It wasn't enough to keep us there for the duration of our vacation.

We recently rented three rooms and enjoyed the beauty that Alton Bay/Lake Winnipesaukee has to offer. What makes this area special are the mountains,trees and the cool water. The view is great, the staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean. The rooms are not luxurious and are as nice as a well kept national motel chain room. No coffee maker or fridge in the room. The price is reasonable and is about half of what I just paid to get a room in Boston. Some of the best times we had were at night when it gets cool enough to sit around the large fireplace under the gazebo. Very nice. We also rented a boat for some water sport and docked at Wolfeboro for lunch. Five stars for the location and beauty of this family run business.

Elevated Wake, takes water sports to a new level…read more Bottom Line up Front: Customer service is definitely priority number one. Having used other water sports companies in Lake Winnipesaukee, Elevated Wake, exceeded expectations. Also, ask for Ryan and Alex! THE GOOD: Elevated Wake was Great! From the pre-flight the night before, the coaching by the crew, to the playlist during the trip, this place reigned supreme. Preflight: they stopped by the night before to make sure they knew where we were located; then they showed up the next day a few minutes early to ensure we got our full scheduled time. Additionally, they had all the gear on board to allow adults and kids to water ski, wake surf and tube. We had used other companies (not to be named here) the last two years, which dropped the ball in that area. Coaching: Ryan and Alex were spectacular! They had great patience, knew exactly what to say and do and when to say and do it. They were able to get the young kids in our group up and skiing within a few runs. Alex (who happens to be on a college water-skiing team in Florida) took the time to work with our kids and physically demonstrated the steps to stand up on skis using the tow rope. She then had them repeat the steps before getting in the water. The results success. Alex and Ryan(who was the Captain at the time) had great crew coordination and were able to effectively communicate take-off and acceleration speeds. Ryan was the coach for wake-surfing and he did a phenomenal job. He easily explained body positions using analogies, such as the gas pedal is the forward foot and the brake is the back foot, and coached body position to enables surfers to get into the sweet spot in a few tries. They both get A-pluses on a job well done! Playlist: Everything goes better with great music and Ryan's playlist was Sierra Hotel (military speak for awesome)! He had summer tunes from the sixties to the present; from the Beach Boys to Boston, Jimmy Eat World to Jack Johnson, Bob Marley to Sublime, he had a great playlist! He knows his music and we had some great discussions. THE BAD: The only thing bad was that we did not book more time. THE UGLY: Absolutely nothing! They nailed it. I was so impressed that I was trying to recruit both Ryan and Alex. Where others fail, Elevated Wake Prevails!

The Wake Winni team picked is up at our dock and promptly took our tour of eight out on the waters of Lake Winne for 6 hours. We skied, tubed and "surfed some tasty wake" while have a great day on the water. Josh and Dom are expert navigators of the waters of Lake Winnipesaukee and great hosts. The are also great instructors. We had a few kids and a couple beginners in our group and Josh and Dom were patient and skilled at providing instructions and at one point even got on the surf board with one of our kids to get them up and surfing! Our server was pleasant and food came from the kitchen quickly. The general consensus around the table was that the food was OK, nothing bad but certainly nothing memorable. Fries on the side were kind of limp and sad, even though I had asked for crispy fries. Cocktails were nice and potent, and we thought prices were reasonable given the touristy location. Maybe come here for some drinks and apps, and find a better venue for entrees.
