any place with cheap beer, friendly staff and mellow patrons is a-ok with me. the fact that this place allows dogs makes it my new favorite bar. my first trip up to the bar to get drinks i was offered a bowl of water and treats for the pooch. no one seemed to mind when he took off behind the bar to sniff the place out. my only beef was the $5 I lost to the jukebox that never played my songs. read more

Oh I was so happy this place popped up near my girl friend's place. It has free pool (SWEET!), a jukebox (SWEET!), darts, some video game and great tunes playing all night long (not sure if it was the jb or their random selection)...either way it was rock-n-rollin'. The bartender chick was a moron...I gave her a tip and she proceeded to put it in the register...never counting. She never exchanged a smile or a word with us, but acted like a bar room slut with the boys. She got my drink order wrong a couple of times...( I was drinking beer)...at this point I didn't really care...but still. I guess I wouldn't have minded if she was stupid and cute...but she was just stupid. Great laid back bar that is very casual and neighborhood. I come here with the dog and he always has a great time. No food but you can get excellent mexican next door or order food in. The drink and beer prices are very reasonable. I usually have a bottle of beer. I really wish they had draft - it seems like the type of bar that would carry it. Darts and pool and games and dogs and great bartenders (you may have to bug him or her twice for a drink but just say hey!!!) - so what else can you ask for???? read more

Favorite bar in our neighborhood. Friendly staff who are always willing to accommodate their patrons. When it's slow they will let you put on whatever music you want on the ipod. If you are looking for a place to call "your bar" this could be it. In general a good group of regulars and a bar tender that remembers what you drink wether you were in last week or last month. The dog friendly bar is a great place to get your fix of petting pooches if you don't have one yourself. Free pool and steel tip darts is a plus too. I enjoy this bar because they are very dog friendly and I can come here with my dog. They have a pool table, dart board and a couple of booths which are more private for a group of friends. They do not have a kitchen, but have menus for you to order food. However sometimes they play movies on the televisions which is very boring. Last time I was in here which was during this March, the television was so loud I had to scream at the person sitting next to me and my ears actually hurt. I'm a big fan of dives. I've been looking for one to come close to filling my need for Diggers (a Bloomington, IL bar) & I happened to move close to this particular bar & LOVE it. What I'm not noticing many/most other reviewers say is that the pool table is FREE (although there are pool league nights on Mondays and Tuesdays, so you likely won't be able to play pool until late on those nights, if at all, but other nights the table is often wide open) and the two REAL dart boards are FREE as well! (And yes, the bar has crappy :) darts you can borrow.) Also, dogs are VERY welcome, just think "small dog park" - don't be a jerk, keep an eye on your dog, obviously. Driftwood doesn't serve food, but there are many delivery options (and ordering food is totally cool - they have many menus to peruse) and there is a really good (and cheap) Mexican place right next door. True, there is no beer on draft, but the beer selection is good, as are all of the prices. This is a great neighborhood bar! read more

It's hit or miss with this place, sometimes there are customers, sometimes there aren't. It really doesn't make a difference though. I don't remember which specific nights they have specials, or how much they even cost for that matter, haha, but they are good. Usually PBR or High Life cans, the bartenders give great service too. Dogs are welcome. They don't really have a designated closing time though, which i didn't like too much. There was a night I was in there with a buddy of mine and they closed early because there weren't any other customers in there, it was kind of rude. read more

This is a perfect place if you want a low key night in a bar that doesnt get crowded. My friends and I went to watch the Bear's game and it was a fun time. They mexican place next door also delivers to the bar...lazy ? yes. but mexican food, $2 miller lite bottles and the bears...sounds like a good sunday to me! read more

I have been to Driftwood many many times. We have always had a great time. One of the best things about the bar it that the prices are very reasonable. They don't rob you like the other bars in the area. They have great beer specials and great service. This year they are sponsoring out softball team. They are giving us a better deal than anyone else. We look forward to a long relationship with D'wood. read more

Don't order the red stripe unless you're prepared to get into some politics. I asked for a red stripe (which the bar sells) and the bartender asked, "are you gay?" I interpreted this as just "dive bar banter." So, I responded by saying that I was and joking around. Later, when I came to get my check, the bartender threatened to beat me up if I ever insulted gay people again. I believe his exact quote was "I'll kick your ass if you ever make fun of us again," but at that point I was just looking to not get beat up, so I signed my bill and left. i would give this place 0 stars because they treated my friends and i like dirt. we were paying customers (paid to play pool and bought some beers) and they kicked us out. there were maybe 5 people in the whole bar. we did not bother or harass anyone but i guess the employees there (who called themselves the owners) did not like that there were people at their bar that were actually having some fun. we were playing pool and singing along to the music and dancing. nothing out of the ordinary but they took back the beer we purchased and told us to get the f**k out! they refused to refund our money. they accused us of being drunk (which we were not) and also threatened to use "judo" on one of my friends. i have never in my whole life been kicked out of a bar or any establishment for that matter. it was an embarrassment!! it was an awful experience and i will make sure never to step foot in that bar ever again and tell anyone and everyone i know to do the same. read more

This place is amazing! I've been to all kinds of bars in the city, but this will now be the only one I go to. Every time I go it's a great time. Lenny and Rick are the best bartenders next to the retired Johnny K. of course. The owners (Geo and Robin) make you feel like family. And don't get me started on the free pool and darts. And if that's not your niche play some Golden Tee. Everybody golfs right? Overall you cannot have a bad time at the Driftwood. Great drinks, great friends, great family! read more

I really want to love this bar! I live just a few steps from Driftwood, but this is a bar that is very hard to catch. I'm not sure why they even have posted hours. I would love to get to know this place better, but they are always closed or closing. I just think if the hours on the door say open until 2, they shouldn't have already done last call in a pretty filled bar at 11:55. read more

Not sure whats wrong with these people Driftwood is a very fun place to hang out at. The staff has always been very polite, drinks are cheap(and very good) service has always been a lot better than some places. Its no Lincoln Park bar its a great neighborhood place to hang out at. My husband and I always go there. This is our favorite place to hang out at. We have played pool there with George, Jeremy, Mark, James just to name a few and they've always been courtesy, but our game is Darts and that's what we normally play.
