This place was dangerous. I came here because everyone else was booked. Never again. I was harassed by junkies. One even knocked on my door in the middle of the night. When I rejected him this drug addict was ready to fight. I got a new room the next day. The room was better, but Im never going back. In the second room strangers still knocked on my door. Scared my dog so much she peed herself. I used one of their dingy towels to clean it up. It was my silent protest. Besides, I was not going to use those dingy towels on my body. Im so sorry I exposed my pets to that ghetto environment. They are not used to that. I was scared to live them in the motel. I rather pay triple than ever step foot in there again. Drug addicts everywhere. This place was scary and I stood out like a red thumb. It simply was not safe or clean. It was worse than the bates motel. I really wanted to give a higher rating but just two many things wrong. You drive up and you are transported back into to the early 1950's single level motels, from appearances it's very clean freshly painted, but it can't get away from being out dated, but for the price you accept it, you go into the office I was greeted by two gentlemen, the worker did everything fast and efficient, but not friendly the other guy was on the phone and seemed to be the owner and was very friendly. We go to our room open the door and the first impressions is very clean and very small about the size of your normal home bedroom.he gave us a room with 2 double beds, but our reservations was for a king size bed, we decided to just keep it since we were not going to be in the room that much. The room had basically No surface space to lay things on, the bathroom had a pedestal style sink, zero counter top space, no hair dryer, no exhaust fan. But the shower had nice pressure and a good shower head. There was no closet, the TV could only be seen from one bed, all the plug ins were already taken. No place to put your luggage no alarm clock. I called to get a wake up call and was told to use the alarm clock, what alarm clock? In other words they didn't have a automated system, so I hung up. For all the lack of things positive that your use to in a economy room, the saving grace was everything seemed either freshly painted or brand new, and that makes up for a lot thus 3 stars, but if your going to stay in your room. Awful. Just awful. Do not stay here. Sure, it's cheap. But unless you enjoy arguing over common amenities, ("May we have an extra shampoo packet? We only had one." "YOU ONLY GET SERVICE ONE TIME!") in a dingy lobby with a chauvinistic front desk troll this may not be you kind of place. But what about the rooms, you ask? Well, the dim, fist-hole riddled rooms with the delightful blood stained pillows and beds were rich with character, but not the sort we were looking for. The service staff walks around with an apologetic look because they realize the hell you are about to endure. They were friendly but when you leave, you can't help but feel a pang in your heart like you left them behind. It is a real shame. Upon arrival it took the front desk attendant over 15 minutes to process our check in.. normal places it would have taken 2. When he asked ME for a pen to sign my credit card receipt I knew we had a problem. The front desk attendant seemed to be on some sort of prescription pills as he just fumbled over paperwork and almost forgot to hand my ID back twice. I saw a map of all the rooms and it said "pool" so I asked Oh, does the property have a pool? And he replied yes. While walking to the room we pass the "POOL" aka there once was a pool but it is now a pit filled with filthy gravel. When my boyfriend and I got to the room, the door was wide open. The room reeked of cigarette smoke. There were flies everywhere, the floor had not been vacuumed and was filthy, the two pillows had no pillowcases. Upon pulling back the sheet we exposed a third pillow that actually had a pillowcase.... with bloody finger prints all over it. In horror we ran with the pillow to the front desk and demanded our money back. The front desk attendant then disappeared, I guess to inspect the room but we thought he wasn't planning to return... I guess he was looking for the rude person the other girl in the review below spoke about that yelled at her as this guy was absolutely helpless. I freaked out saying my boyfriend (who is South American) and I had stayed all over Central and South America and stayed in a lot of old/dilapidated places but never like this. Luckily, we received our money back. We then ran over to the liquor store right in front of the motel to try to erase our minds of the crime scene/horror movie-esque experience we had just endured. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT STAY HERE!! This place was straight out of a horror movie. The smell of cigarette smoke really hits you right in the face when you walk in. The wall paper is falling off the walls and it's a nice yellow color from all of the smoke. I thought I found a bullet hole in the bathroom door, blood stains on the wall & a ton of stains on the bed. Driftwood Inn Review We made reservations here because everything else nearby was booked. Arrived to find no one at the front desk and it took 5 minutes of yelling out for someone before a clerk came out. He couldn't find our reservation. But since he barely spoke English, we doubted he understood the spelling. Another man came out to assist. He spoke English enough to be extremely rude and condescending. Completely disrespectful. Never found our reservation. We have a service dog as well. He said they had a no pet policy and refused to acknowledge that a service dog was not a pet. However, they had two signs posted regarding their pet policy, the two signs contradicted each other. The prices were different on them for preapproved pet and not approved pet. Tried to show them the federal law from DOJ covering the rights of persons with service animals...he refused to look at it and became even more hostile. We took the room...charged us $80 instead of $150 since the jacuzzi wasn't working. We asked if we could at least take showers and his rudeness increased again!! We finally got to the room, OMG... The smell was over powering, very chemical and perfume smell, wallpaper peeling away, drapes filthy with stains and tears, half hanging off the rods and did not cover the Windows. Door lock (security bolt) had been broken and did not work, AC unit parts lying on the floor. Bathroom tile moldy, shoes made sticking sound when walking on the carpet. There were several other doors leading into the room, locked from the other side, but no way to lock and make sure no one entered! I did not my dog touching anything! The towels were yellow with stains. I have never seen anything like this. Why isnt this place condemned or closed down by the health department? We left our things in the room to go try to find somewhere else to stay. Came back a couple hours later to find someone had been in the room, the TV was on (middle eastern station) and our things had been moved! Was extremely creepy. We loaded up the car to leave. Told the foul, rude manager we were leaving and that someone had been in our room etc. he was up disturbed and claimed they had to change a lightbulb. It Was as if he could care less and expected it, even wanting us to NOT stay. Can't imagine anyone staying here. We plan to file reports/complaints with local authorities and health departments. This dump is disgusting and their treatment and attitude towards potential customers is highly suspicious. We made a reservation and called the night before to confirm late check in was ok. We arrived at the time we said we'd arrive and they had given our room away. They had done that to the person ahead of us too! They said because we hadn't paid ahead of time they didn't have to hold the room. Well, we had called the night before; why didn't they mention this then? We'd have gladly paid! Instead we drove to Delaware where we were lucky enough to find a room. I would not give any stars to this place! I walk in it smells of cigarettes looks like a place prostitutes would come. The toilet didn't work. The outlets didn't work. I pulled back the comforter there were cheese stains or some orange fingerprints all over it. When I went to ask for a new one the manager brought me a sheet.i tried to explain what the comforter was..then he brought a blanket and I realized there may have been a language barrier but come on! I then spoke to a lady about it and told her it was disgusting and a guy walked out in his undershirt and took over the conversation. Upon check-in, the gentleman at the counter was extremely rude--as if our mere presence was disrupting his day. Further, we had no reservation on file with them--even though we had booked the room in April. Our room left little to be desired: a non-smoking room that reeked of cigarettes, a coffeemaker with old coffee still in it, a TV that only worked on 7 stations, a broken telephone that was covered in a strange oil, carpets, walls, and mattresses covered in cigarette burns, holes in the walls, curtains that were being held up by tape, an AC window unit that didn't work properly, a bathroom that had barely any light and a broken shower head, and stains all over the sink and floor, and finally, under the bed was so unclean, I refused to go barefoot anywhere in the room. It was clear the lock on our door had been screwed back into place indicating our room was either broken into at one point, the door was busted open, or both. Fast forward to Friday night. We arrive back to the hotel from the festival around 1am. Late, yes, but we were told there would be someone on call or at the front desk 24 hours so we needn't worry. Upon arrival, lo and behold, our room key doesn't work--the room key that opens the room that had all of our clean clothes and non-sweaty festival things in it. That room. I thought this was some cruel joke my cousin was trying to play on me but sure enough, our (recycled) swipe key didn't work. We head to the front lobby and find the door locked and no one at the front desk. We called, yelled, banged on the door, and made as much noise as possible. We ended up, after an hour and a half, having to call the non-emergency police number and a nice officer (shout out to Officer Bearman) showed up. He informed us the owners live there and were there (he knew their car)--they just weren't answering. He also told us that as soon as we gathered our belongings, we needed to leave the hotel immediately as there is a long history of safety concerns with both the owners and patrons (he didn't go into details). Long story short--he ended up escorting us to a Quality Inn around 4am and we booked a room (for 7 hours...) which was the equivalent to what we had already paid for three nights at the Driftwood. When we arrived at the Driftwood the next morning, we encountered the same man we had when we checked in on Thursday. We got our room key fixed, gathered our belongings as quickly as possible, and put everything in the car. I went back to the front desk to explain to them how unsatisfied we were, that we were checking out early, and request we be refunded for the night we were locked out and the night we wouldn't be staying (I didn't even demand the first night back!). I was very cordial and polite. Being that there was a language barrier, I was getting nowhere with the gentleman (he actually thought I wanted to book another night) at the desk so I asked if there was anyone else I could speak to that could help me. Not more than thirty seconds later, a disheveled, sweaty man in a greasy, stained undershirt comes out and asks what the problem is--"WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM? You from room 31?! We clean it already, no more problem. Go."--assuming I was the customer from room 31. I explained to him what had happened in the same tone as the first gentleman and he proceeded to speak to me in the most disrespectful derogatory way I've ever been spoken to. As soon as I mentioned we would be leaving and asked to be refunded for the night before and the upcoming night, he began screaming at me in the lobby about how he didn't believe that we hadn't slept there and that we were just being brats and princesses who always needed to get their way. And also informed me that if we didn't like his establishment, we could leave. Mind you--they have security cameras they could look at, I have the officer's name and badge number they could speak to, and have clear record of us calling them over and over. Yet still--this man had the audacity to speak to me as if I was so below him and called me names, questioned my character, and kept slamming his fists and hands on the front desk and walls. He ended with "YOU IS CACA--NO REFUND. NO MATTER IF IT ONE NIGHT OR SEVEN--NO REFUNDS. LEAVE. NOW,". I informed him I would be writing a review about my experience, filing a complaint with the better business bureau, and contesting the charge with my back. He continued to scream at me as I walked out that he didn't care what I did--I was "caca" and "not too smart" to accomplish such tasks; the money was already his and would not be taken away. I, fearing for my and my cousin's safety, got into my car and got the hell out of there. I honestly wish I could give this place zero or even negative stars because even one is being way too generous given the shit I had to put up with. this place has everything but the sign Bates Motel.We went on vacation and booked and paid for 11nights and I did not look at any reviews big mistake When we got there at 3am there was no one at the front desk it took at least a half an hour to get someone there,they couldn't find my reservevation so that took forever E e got the key the room was so gross stains everywhere you could not even pee in the toilet without plunging it every time They came in and snaked it and then dripped the snake from the bathroom to the door all over the nasty carpet The curtains did not cover the windows and the bathroom window did not have s curtain. The AC did not work well.In the days we were fhere we did not see a housekeeper and. We had to go get towels daily from the front desk holes and peeling paint all over room. Our room key neve worked and we had Togo everyday to get a new one.I have been in a more disgusting room in my life.There was no W iFi everything was moldy and smelly.The men were rude and not nice.The only thing I can say is it made you get up at 4am to get the hell out of there and stay out till 11pm not very relaxing.No one should stay here.They had a drug bust there a week before we got there. read more
