I've been seeing this doctor…read morefor over 2 years, being a long time (10+ years) sufferer of Ankylosing Spondylitis, Reactive arthritis, etc (depends who you ask) and have become very familiar with every treatment offered (from chemotherapy to immuno-suppressants and TNF blockers like Humira), diet changes and even corrective surgery (yikes!) available under the sun. So, it seems very strange to me that when I call the office for the first time in 2 years reporting an acute inflammation and pain flare-up asking to fill a prescription for an emergency Prednisone pack (which is what helped me in the past), I get a callback 5 hours later with their secretary's barely intelligible instructions on how to take Aleve twice a day with food. Did anyone even bother to look at my chart and medical history? A whooping 5 seconds would have revealed that I was under observation for the last year, following doctor's suggestion to gradually get off my current medications and reporting an acute flare-up is definitely a RED FLAG. Inexcusable. Also, how little am I informed about how to take Aleve after 10 years of joint pain? Why would I bother calling the office if I wasn't panicking in unbearable pain that I haven't felt in 7 years? Criminal carelessness and neglect.

Who would have thought that vitamin deficiencies could cause such horrible problems. Seems common sense, I know, but I'm pretty smart and I would have never figured it out without the diligence of Dr. Gopan. He is very confident in his work, which makes me as a paitent feel great and has a nice bedside manner. I never wait long to get into my appointments and it has never taken any longer than 20 minutes to hear back from his assistant when I have questions. I will note that I live over an hour away, in another state actually, and have no issues with driving to see Dr. Gopan. He has been a blessing to me, and consequently my family, and I truly am thankful to have found him.

When I…read morestarted I was using my oxygen frequently only when I needed to have it like walking up and down stairs walking from the house to the car and was always out of breath when i moved around the house from room to room and cleaning was impossible it took me all day to clean one room because I had to take so many breaks. I have COPD so I used a walker to get around because I didn't lose my breath so often, Since I have been Exercising 3 days a week at Airobics has helped me immensely. I am no longer using my oxygen to move around the house and no more walker. I am breathing so much better now. The Therapists who are there and the other people who are there are so friendly I wish I could go 5 days a week. I would Highly Recommend Airobics if you need Therapy let your Dr. know about it would love for you to come there to meet you. Diane

I could not drive, could not sleep, could not work around my house. If I moved too fast, or turned too fast, or bent down it brought on an attack. I was discouraged and ready to give up when the kind lady at the front desk took time and effort to encourage me and caution me to quit was not a good resolution...Within tend days or so I was able to resume my life and they released me telling me I could return if I ever felt I needed their help. They were kind, caring and knowledgable.

Never did we feel rushed. She was just happy to help in any way she could. Full of information and super nice. And Dr. Curtis is the absolute best. He takes his time and makes us feel heard. He asks questions and many of them so that he can asses our problems as thoroughly as possible. He gave us exercises and stretches that actually have HEALED my son's back. Please keep in mind, my son does these exercises and stretches on a daily basis because he is an athlete and never wants to feel the discomfort and pain again that he was previously experiencing. He is currently working on making his knee whole again with exercises and stretches that Dr. Curtis has recommended. It's only been about 1.5 weeks and already there is much improvement. MUCH improvement. Go see Dr. Curtis. Follow his instructions. Feel better. ^_~

Absolutely horrendous experience with the staff, he needs more people, or competent ones. Three weeks later, and the staff continues to ignore calls, not bother sending refills on medication, and not return calls - even when dozens of messages are left. This has been a master class in how to not treat a patient. If you want to communicate with your doctor's office, this is not a good choice.

Dr. Richard Lim is one of the finest Orthopedic Spine Surgeons in the Country, many surgeons did…read morenot want to operate on me because of the complicated nature of my case. I had a giant herniated disk with severe central canal stenosis along with complete effacement of the Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) around the nerve roots. Redundant nerve roots (RNRs) and the beginnings of Cauda Equina Syndrome and Arachnoiditis. I had terrifying pain in the hip, buttocks, groin and leg. Sound Complicated? That is because it was and the risk of surgery was high. Dr. Lim took on my case and performed an extremely successful Posterior Spinal Fusion with Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) using a Titanium artificial disk also known as a Intervertebral Cage and a facetectomy on L2/L3 with a very Complex Decompression of Cauda Equina and Bilateral L1/L2 nerve roots and Hip Bone Marrow Aspiration with an Allograft Bone Graft plus 2 Bilateral foraminotomies along with an annulotomy. This was all done using a 3D computer-assisted stereotactic navigation system. I mention all this to demonstrate why even world-renowned Neuro Surgeons declined to take my case. Right after surgery 100 percent of my pre-surgical pain in the hip, buttocks, groin and leg was gone. At 3 months out I was walking 3 miles and at 4 months I was hiking in the forest on hilly and challenging terrain and had a zero-pain score. Also, his P.A. He left pieces inside of me and closed me up. Those pieces dug into my sciatic nerve for 7 1/2 weeks causing the most excruciating pain I have ever had in my life. He ran out of the surgery and jumped in his car so I couldn't ask him why I was in more pain when I woke up than when I went in. Then he wouldn't take any calls from me. Then when I was able to go to his office, he wouldn't come out of the back to talk to me. The front desk said they were told to tell me he was in meetings and was not going to see me. It took the CEO of Midwest Orthopedics to force him to meet with me. The arrogant, pompous ass that he is kept saying nothing was wrong even after new MRI's showed the debris and me screaming in pain. The surgeon from Rush who corrected the botched surgery took photos that he gave to me of what he had to remove that was digging into my sciatic nerve. He said he normally wouldn't do that but that I needed to save these for the attorneys. In all my life I have never met a worse doctor / surgeon. It's bad enough to ruin somebody's back but then to be so arrogant to never admit the mistake and get it fixed. Anybody who would let him cut into you would have to be insane. Find ANYBODY else!
