Much to my surprise they were at my house 2 days later installing my new roof on the house. They stripped two layers of shingle, replaced several bad decking boards I had. They do 6ft of ice and water shield. Code only requires 3ft. They made sure everything on the roof was wrapped up, secure and water tight. Then they started putting down the shingles. I mean these guys work like a well oiled machine together. This company does not subcontract out the work. The employees work for J & J. My roof on house and garage looks great, they did a good job of cleaning up. I'm super happy with this company and highly recommend them. My lesson in 2023 - lean more towards the locally owned mom and pop shops and not big box names.

Fireplace technician Rob Gray was on time as informed when I set up the appointment on line from 7 days prior. Before starting the process of cleaning, camera of inspection then approval, he was kind enough to ask questions about the fireplace being the first time at My Home. He was very knowledgeable and also discussed the types of wood to burn to help out with less creosote in the chimney. Then he talked about moisture levels and those annoying down drafts which I was already aware of. Before I start a fire on a Windy afternoon I open up the door-wall a bit to assist wind. Humor about the company name, I asked employee Rob where was his stethoscope since name of company is Dr. SWEEP! :-) He was cautious with using the backyard and door-wall to bring in his cleaning and inspection equipment plus a tarp on the carpet to prevent dirt or dust. The masonry chimney potential concerns and fireplace concerns worksheet I attached in a photo to state the many steps in the verification of the service! Since My fireplace has a insert and high tech blower system that checked out great and in proper usage. No leaks, no damaged bricks and the 8 inch Flue checked out fine. It was nice to see the camera photos of a shiny Liner! I was pleased in the final process with great results and that the fireplace passed inspection is safe for use again in the Fall. The start to finish cleaning and outside inspection on the roof of the family room fireplace took 1 Hour. Now the outside on the roof of the chimney "Crown" needs to be resurfaced after 25 years of using the fireplace and also waterproofing which I will set up a day and time later on to complete this in September or October. A recent professional inspection of the chimney this company repaired, just over a year ago,…read moredeclared it unsafe for use, in part, due to the repair work. The flue tile installed was a different size from the original, creating an unsafe ledge that can collect creosote and cause a chimney fire. Additionally, the crown has separated from the brick and lacks an overhang to direct rain water away from the brick beneath. The crown is now crumbling and mortar cracks have started to appear between the replaced bricks. The inspection was conducted prior to ever using the fireplace, approximately a year after the repairs were done. This after the chimney caps they installed flew off during a storm narrowly avoiding damaging the roof and could have injured a person or pet. The caps were dented and some of their internal welds broken. After months of requests, the one cap that was replaced was installed on a decorative, non-functional tile. When pointed out, a damaged original cap was installed on the functional chimney tile without telling me. When I inspected the work later, I found both caps improperly installed, without the retention screws being properly secured/tightened. When this and other work was done on the house a year ago, we had to call them back several times to repair issues that were hidden from us during the final walk through. Issues included but are not limited to a non-functional damper, broken bricks that hadn't been replaced as expected and completely missing bricks above grade. In one missing brick case, a brick hole, just above grade, was filled completely with mortar, no brick, and dirt had been piled in front to hide it. In another case, this time well above grade, a storage cabinet was placed in front to hide it from view. Based on these facts, I now lack piece of mind on the other repairs made; time will tell. I never want these people to touch my house again, even to repair the items listed above, and recommend you avoid using them.
