Surprisingly Smooth Process! Brought daughter in for a 9am appointment on a Thursday to obtain her learners permit. She completed the course and her certificates online prior to the appointment. We came prepared with the required documentation and arrived about 25 minutes early. We walked up waited one minute to have a very nice woman check our documents. She said we were good to go and we walked in, waited in line maybe 10 minutes. Now everyone inside was pretty serious and focused on keeping the line moving. The woman who processed everything went smooth and quick then we were off to the cashier. We paid, sat for a minute or two and were handed her permit. I'm not sure what days or times give long waits but that was not our experience. We were out in less than 30 minutes from start to finish! read more

You know? Going to the DMV is like going to the dentist. Even the degree after the dentist's name is close! Today was a pleasant experience. I made an appointment on line and showed up early. I brought the appointment notice with me because it states it on the paperwork. They didn't even check. I was here for a renewal. I can't stress this enough. Make sure you bring what is required. They don't play games and no matter how much crying, screaming, pleading, and stomping your feet you do, they won't budge on what is required. Pro tip. When they tell you to look in the viewfinder to read the line of letters, make sure you press your nose in. There is a push mechanism on both sides of the nose that when fully pushed in light up a screen with letters. If you don't do this, the field will be blank. I can't wait to see my mom today because I took her to the DVM 5 years ago and the woman refused to give my mom a license. My mom kept saying she didn't see any letters. Well, duh! Honestly, I was expecting the worst going to the DMV (because, let's be real -- it's the DMV), but the Pembroke Pines Driver License Bureau actually surprised me in a good way. The staff was friendly, and the whole process was way smoother than I expected. Was the line long...it was insanely long. This location is opened on Saturdays. Week days 8am - 5pm and Saturday 8am-1pm. Saturday I was exactly in line at 6am. The line was already half mile long. There was a lady with a wheelie cart walking up down selling coffee and pastries to people in line. People were there with lawn chairs, coolers, and umbrella for rain. By 7am police are there and the line has already doubled. The line itself does move along, and they move you in groups of 20-30 people once you get inside the fence area. At 12 noon my section of the line was now in the fence area and I was worried they are going to close as the line is still very long inside the fence area. Once you get to the Canopy section you are getting closer to the front door. Once inside I was so pleasantly surprised. Seating and Air Conditioning YAY! There were at least 15 people maybe more each working in separate windows. The staff was great. read more

First off, my dad got to the gate at 4:30 am to make the cue for walk-in's so I can take my driving exam. He was the 10th person in line and i arrived after so he was saving the spot. Once they opened the gate i drove the car inside and parked and my dad walked over to continue making the line by the building and i walked over to meet up with him. She saw me "skip" the line and made us go all the way to the back of the line. When i asked her why, at first she didn't even want to answer questions and would just ignore me and mostly everyone asking her in line that also gotten take to the back or told to leave. Finally when she came up to me and i tried explaining she said she saw me skip the line and that we were not allowed to park the car infront and wait and only the people who waited in line actually standing since early in the morning were allowed( which we also did since 4:30) I explained that my dad made the line by the gate since 4:30 and i only parked. No matter what she treated me with absolutely no respect and was all up in my face saying "no no well now you are in the back of the line and that's how it is and you know what if you don't understand I just won't let you take your exam you can leave" like hello who the hell are you it's five in the morning go get a coffee and calm you ugly ass down. Anyways, I wasn't the only person, a poor old lady that was behind us in the line was told to come back another day because she also skipped the line (she did not), however she did let in these two guys who skipped the whole line at 6:50 in the morning and PARKED AT THE FRONT GATE. Unbelievable. After an hour in the line my dad had to leave for a doctors appointment so i asked another lady if my mom and dad can switch spots in the line so I can still have a parent with me for my exam and my dad can leave and the lady said yes. When i go back to the disrespectful lady to tell her she never gave me a ticket she asked where my dad was so I told he had left and she was already telling me no what ever whatever and i shouldn't have done that . Mind you either one of my parents were only there because i am still a minor. Luckily, i stopped her before she kicked me out the line and told her that her coworker had gave us permission. After we passed that witch, we went inside the office and we met a security lady that looked like she hated her life as well as walked into an office that was as depressing as the faces on every single worker. The only reason this review gets two stars and not one is because my examiner was very nice, calm, good manners, respectful, and explained every part of the exam calmly and kindly. Florida DMV system is the worst in the entire US. It's an embarrassment to the country that their DMV system is this broken. Compare able to what you see in third world countries. 100+ people scattered down a sidewalk 3 hours before open like vagrants begging for change. The reason for me coming to this location is because of where my zip code (near by my home). Upon arriving to this location I seen the line wrapped around the building and it's extremely HOT!!! I get in line and heard just to the left of me "2:30 appointments will be next" ...but it was about 2:20 so I was confused. A lady in a blue shirt approached everyone that's for my timed appointment almost 45 mins later and was told to "form a line". We did as so...while standing there she's checking people appointment print out then moving them along. She gets to me and ask me "what's your appointment for because I need to check to make sure you have your proper documentation" I tell her that I'm here for a out of state driver's license and need to get a Florida one because of my job. She then moves me along...and then takes more people. She then doubles back and ask me to show her my proof of documentation I show her what I had. She goes "if you never been here before you need you birth certificate" I said ...what? It doesn't say that on the paperwork just living situation, social, passport and a bill. She then drops my paperwork in the mud and the young boy behind me says "AWWWNNN"..like ohh shhhh..and lets me stand in line for 2 hours until I got to the building and then sent me back outside. Mind you this was all in 2 hours...I then follow up the next day which is a Saturday and was told I should have got their earlier. But online it says "8am" the security dude says 5am...WHHAAA..I'm not standing in the dark as a female (nobody should) 3-4 hours before y'all even open to get help. wtf! Then I come back and headed inside and it's even more of a mess. It's as if the people working here are robots with no human emotional skills. This is my first time coming into a dmv in the state of Florida and wasn't aware of how they operate and the lady I got placed with was talking to me in a bland tone and asked for my documents and started slamming her hand on the table getting smart with me trying to rushed me pass the prompts on the key pad but I was making sure I read what was on the screen in case I did want to register to vote or cancel because I noticed something was wrong. All that slamming her hand on the desk & yelling was totally unnecessary! If you park in the mall, a tow truck arrives and takes your car. So, we decided that one of us would wait in line and the other would stay in the car. They opened the gates at 7:15am and I told the employee I was switching places with the girl. It wasn't that someone else was coming in, it was just a substitute. It always says they have no appointments available. It is very frustrating and not a good situation coming here without an appointment. Some employees are helpful, others don't want to be there. I can't blame them. The best quality of this DMV is it is not far from where I live. I thought coming here early on a Wednesday would be a good idea but it is not. I wish I had better advice. This office has the worst customer service I've ever experienced in all my adult years. Im a 56 year old native , who was raised to respect and value all walks of life. Do onto others as you would like them to do on to you, very simple!. Not even 1 minute of my arrival to this business, the office manager came at me angry, aggressively and shouting. cause I had the audacity to park in the parking lot at 7:30 am on a Monday morning to wait for my son to replace his drivers license . I went to this DMV cause I needed to take a driving test to get my US license. This was 13th of November at 11 am for appointment. I m a European who travels a lot and drives all over the world, and have a driving license for 11 years... I was not disappointed with the office, everyone was nice and helpful but I can not say anything good about the woman who was my examiner. I started the test which happened to be - for my biggest surprise - in an empty practising parking area. I m still wondering why do they think someone can drive just because can make some simple manouvers in an empty place, where there is zero traffic.. its crazy.. i understand now why so many horrible drivers on the roads.. Back to my examiner, she was not clear about what does she exactly want me to do, when I did my three point turn... she wanted me to imagine things around me, where remind you, was only an empty lot and grass. Her instuctions were not clear, was confusing. I did the three point turn and she ended my test after like 4 mins, I failed. I did not even understand why.. Next day after my driving exam in another DMV, I got my license and I know how a test exactly should be. I m convinced the examiner woman in the Pembroke Pine DMV did not follow the rules!! She should have finished the entire examination with me and evaluate my driving afterwards face to face, which she never did!! She did not even give me the paper sheet which marks my mistakes. She made me redo my picture twice because for the second time she had me tilt my head down sooooo much to cause me to have a double chin in my photo. I know she did that crap on purpose! Me and other people had a terrible experience there. So I had come the previous day (6/27) around 8 AM with the security staff telling me that the walk ins were full, so they let me know that I can comeback again the following day at 6:30 AM ("it's summer, it's low season" as they told me) and that the walk ins will take place from 7-8 AM. Today (6/28) I get in line at the due time but unfortunately couldn't make it in the few "66" people or so "selected". Most of us trying to make the line are desperate to get important government papers that we need for daily functions such as for work or driving. (To make an appointment it will take you about 4 to 6 weeks to wait) But we were told only after a couple hours of wait that today the office was "short staffed" which never was communicated to anyone making the line and that same delay won't be communicated to anyone else in the future. You can expect that poorly managed office to make you waste a couple hours of your day (some people in line had to wait days repeating the same thing), without informing you that you won't be able to make it in the office only until they have given out enough "numbers" to people in the line completely disregarding the others making the line. (It would be nice to communicate to the rest of the people still waiting that don't know what's going on...) That office or maybe the system in general lacks critical information for when to show up for walk ins. (No numbers or email reach the office, at least that I could find after extensive research) I still question myself how is it possible for a country like the United States, in the state of Florida, that it is so hard to get critical government documentation ? I'm sorry but are we in a 3rd world country ? This morning, the office wasted many people's precious time including mines, and a lot of changes need to be done to the poor management of that location in order to accommodate most of us that need important documentation.
