So I decided to take the class to learn how to drive safely in snowy/icy weather. Michal was very knowledgeable and I learned a ton. The first part of the class involved watching informational slides as he talked and some videos of scary accidents. The actual driving portion was super fun! You get to practice how to handle different types of skidding, and Michal would give you notes on what went wrong and how to correctly navigate. I was not very good at first, but after doing it over and over again, it felt more like second nature by the end of class. I'd highly recommend this class!

Unfortunately, our experience has been disappointing. The first time we arrived for my daughter's scheduled drive, we approached the car and the employee literally put his finger up, signaling for us not to come over. We stood there waiting until he eventually approached us, and he was not particularly friendly or welcoming. My daughter looked nervous getting into a car with a complete stranger, and as her mother, I was uncomfortable too. The fact that he was associated with law enforcement was honestly what made me feel comfortable enough to let her go. To be fair, when I picked her up, she told me he was very nice to her during the drive, which I appreciated. Then today, we arrived for her test and had almost the exact same type of interaction with another employee. We pulled up next to the Top Cop vehicle, and he continued looking at whatever he was working on inside his car without even acknowledging us. This really bothers me. You are asking parents to pay hundreds of dollars and then hand our teenage children over to strangers who will be alone with them in a vehicle. Is it really too much to expect your employees to smile, introduce themselves, acknowledge the parent, and make the teenager feel welcome and safe? These kids are already nervous! But what frustrates me the MOST is the money. We were led to believe that we HAD to spend approximately $700 because these services were legally required for our daughter to get her driver's license. Then this past week, one of her friends from school, who is the SAME AGE, was able to get a driver's license without their family spending anything close to what we were told we needed to spend. So what exactly did we HAVE to purchase, and what was optional? Because if there were other legal ways for our daughter to meet Colorado's licensing requirements without spending approximately $700, that should have been made crystal clear before we paid. $700 is a lot of money. How is a single parent or a family living paycheck to paycheck supposed to afford this? If all of these services weren't actually legally required, families deserve to know that BEFORE they spend hundreds of dollars. At this point, I genuinely feel misled, and I would like Top Cop to explain exactly which portions of what we purchased were legally required and which were optional. Depending on that answer, I also believe a refund should be discussed. We chose this company because the Top Cop name and law enforcement connection gave us a sense of trust. Unfortunately, the customer service and lack of clarity surrounding what we actually needed to purchase have seriously damaged that trust.

It covered the information in both videos and articles. What made the program stand out was the driving instructors. My daughter took all of the extra driving courses they offered. She would not get behind the wheel before working with them. Mike listened to the type of instructor my daughter needed and matched her up perfectly. She came back from her instruction time feeling more confident and self-assured. It was worth every penny. Some of their instructors can be a little harsher than others but some people do better with those types of instructors. Just let your point person know what type of instructor your child learns best with and they will try to match you up. About a year after my daughter had taken her courses we moved to California. California was going to require my daughter to take Drivers ed all over again and wait 6 months before she could get her license (she had not taken the test yet in Co). MasterDrive was quick to help us out. They sent the information needed and saved us both time and money. I really appreciate all they have done and recommend this company.

Sat in the lobby waiting for my appointment to come up. In walks the instructor "Thomas" with a younger kid who was the appointment before me, he walked in with a smile and said to the kids mother "He failed, would you like me to tell you why? Then listed off 10+ reasons such as being 1mph over the speed limit and not stopping long enough at a stop sign. I knew I was in for it at that point. We got into my vehicle and I told him I had to start it via interlock device first...then he marked his clipboard. Told me to make a left turn, id signal to make a left turn then get criticized about my speed, hand position on the wheel, etc. Id even say "okay" to agree and then get told not to speak at all during the test. Then we drove through a school zone, no flashing yellow light was on or blinking and there wasn't a person in sight so I followed the speed limit sign 30mph and then he told me "well that law violation will cost you the test" and then I said there was no blinking yellow light indicating to slow down to 20mph and he rose his voice and we began to argue. I told him he was very unprofessional and I would like to conclude the test now and I drove back to the golden location. Then he says would you like me to tell you why you failed the test? I said you probably wouldn't care to hear my response back to you and he exited the vehicle. So I payed another $80 and made an appointment at the Lakewood location 2 days later. My instructor this time was the lead supervisor. He was great. We talked as we drove, I followed his commands just fine and followed all instructions, and didn't get yelled at or criticized the entire time. We got back to the Lakewood location and he told me I passed with a "7". And I got my license the same day. Community Driving School is great, wonderful alternative to the DMV for testing! THOMAS you should consider working at the license bureau printing license plates. If you're trying to get your license AVOID the golden location at all costs. They never went on I-25, never got on a windy road and spent zero time on parking. I worked on these with my child, resulting in lots of eye rolling and minimal effort because, duh, teenagers do not listen to their parents. Of course she got her license without issue because none of these areas are tested, but I would have been far more confident in her driving had someone (besides me!) practiced all of these with her.

The talent here is ridiculous and like Colin mentioned in his review, DSA offers some of the most wonderful plays, musicals, concerts and dance productions in the entire Metro area. Last night's performance was a Broadway review which the kids will actually perform downtown tonight for a big fund-raising gala for The Kempe Foundation. There are simple not enough ways to describe just how talented these kids are and how spectacular the show was. As the first act began and the young lady opened her mouth, my God the sound that came out was quite literally unreal. To be so young and so gifted it was enough to bring a person to tears. Things got better from there, which is hard to believe considering it started out at FANTASTIC! There were dancers and singers and actors which easily rival anything on Broadway. Numbers from Annie, and Hair, Joesph and the Technicolor Dream coat, Hair spay, and several others, for 10 bucks. It was a night for the record books, and as a mama so full of pride and awe I must say... my baby kicked some series Broadway booty last night. Way to go kiddo! So if you are looking for some raw and insane talent for a very reasonable price and feel like contributing to a great, local and PUBLIC school in Denver, get yourself on their newsletter list and ENJOY!!! Dear God, please give these people a piece of land so that they don't have to park on the grass and in intersections. If you build it, they will come.
