Do not trust DriveSafe. Once you give them your payment, they refuse to cancel or transfer. They are also much more expensive than other services without any added benefits. They will retrieve PII (personally identifiable information) about your family without your consent. They do not review their "terms and conditions" with you before a purchase and will lie and say they did. They are false and misleading. They make no exceptions. BEWARE. read more

Very unhappy with the Highlands Ranch school, tester was extremely rude. New car to the person being tested and would not let drive around the parking lot to get a feel for it. Failed the person because after coming to a complete stop at two stop signs, then had to creep forward to see on coming traffic due to shrubbery. Went in to learn about scheduling my daughter 's 6 hours of riding with an instructor. Upon arrival asked the question to make sure we paid for it was interrupted three or four times while completing the questions I had by Andrea... apparently she knew all the answers to questions before I even asked them .... Had been generally satisfied with the school until the driving test - there was light snow on the ground and ice all over secondary roads. Instructor went out of her way to go into very icey community --- in a two wheel drive with mediocre tires ---- and insisted that my daughter had a minor slide ---- honestly given conditions --- this was an absolute given and instructor even acknowledged my daughter was a very good driver...... honestly I had to take off of work --- absolutely no reason to go through icey community in the crappy Drive Safe cars. I went there to get a driving review, they gave me an instructor who spoke in broken English, and acted like I was an idiot who didn't know how to do anything. He weirdly moaned and muttered while I was driving. I'm a pretty good driver (I've been with 3 other teachers at different locations before and literally never had a problem) but he stopped the test 30% through and made me go back to the DriveSafe building. He didn't even tell me what I could improve on. The people at the desk were rude and condescending, they said he was their best teacher. He's the best teacher?!?! Watch out for drive safe driving school! My daughter tried to enroll and the their website had trouble processing her payment. The staff was really nasty to her so she asked for a refund. They charged her a $50 fee to refund her money 2 minutes after she tried enrolling! Now they aren't returning calls and we have to dispute or with the bank. Took lessons here and at American Driving Academy and I have to say don't waste time trying to learn how to drive here. They just want money. Took 4 1-hour lesson at DriveSafe and some of the instructors were outright rude and not interested in teaching. Passed my permit on my own (didn't take lessons at this place thank God) and scheduled a test here and apparently got penalized by reasons such as I didn't use hand-over-hand steering because I used push-pull and they insisted that what I did was not right. Failed my test because I didn't look at the left mirror (did!) but whatever because they want your money. BEWARE of this place. My appointment was cancelled twice without any notification causing me to lose half of my work day and the drive there. they are in the car business and don't have cars that can perform well. Even they tell you it is best to take the test when the roads are pretty clean because any slippage will make you fail. I've been driving for over 20 years with zero traffic violations, I just lost my privilege due to child support matters, and I had to take the test. The very young instructor(barely 20) didn't answer my simple traffic question before we got to the car and take the test. While in the test I followed all the traffic rules and the instructor said I failed for matching the other cars speed in order to not create a disruption in traffic which put myself and others at risk. This comes with experience. Conclusion, this place is mismanage, and sets you up to fail so they can charge you the retake of the test at $60 and they are quick to tell you to reschedule it and pay right away. SCAMMERS!!! Travis is the worst! He was rude, and I swear he had every intention of failing my daughter before she even got to the car. Her 1st apt. Was scheduled for Jan.18th. There was a blizzard that day, so obviously, we rescheduled. The next apt. It snowed again. I was informed by David, the office manager that any slip on the ice is an automatic fail. He was very nice and helpful BTW. Long and short is we rescheduled a few times to get to day where the streets were clear of ice. When we got there and met up with Travis, I told him we'd rescheduled because of ice and asked if the route he'd be taking had any ice. He replied quite rudely, "I'm aware", then told us he couldn't tell us if there was ice or not. Actually, by law, he is required to inform the tester if there might be adverse conditions on the test route. He could have chose from a couple routes, the roads were literally all clear, except for some very side streets. That's right where he took my daughter. She said they turned the corner, and the road ahead was pure ice. She failed. Then he pressured us to cone inside and reschedule. Telling us if we didn't, she may not be able to get an apt. For weeks. So I did, for 70$ non-fundable dollars. Of course, once we left, we decided never to go back and took her test the next day at SmartStart Driving Academy, who were awesome, and passed. F- this place, or maybe just Travis, as all the others who I spoke to, Julian, David, Robert, and a very nice lady who's name I didn't get were fine. My family selected DriveSafe as a way to get my wife's Colorado Driver's License. First, you pay for the service upfront before you can get an appointment. Each and every time I tried to make an appointment at the Highlands Ranch location ( I chose HR because it's a few blocks from our house/work) I couldn't make the reservation online due to it saying there wasn't an available appointment for the next four months. I did call the HR office, and was told they couldn't tell me when the first available date would be. I think it's ridiculous that you pay for a $300+ package and then later find out that you can't schedule an appointment. Finally, I was able to schedule the driving test/2 hour practice at the Greenwood Village location. The 2 hour practice lesson went extremely good. My wife and I explained that she would need a spanish speaking evaluator for the drive test. She was advised that this would happen. Two days later, we arrived to her drive test. The evaluator (Travis) was rude and frustrated towards my wife because she didn't completely understand him. His behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable. She was told by David that she didn't pass, but didn't make sure she understood why. He then rudely called me on the phone and told me that we owe another $69 for the "retake"! Why didn't Travis bring the car back to the office once he realized the language barrier? While David and the other manager listened to our concerns, the wouldn't refund our money due to inappropriate and unprofessional behavior towards my wife. Instead of giving us our money back, he said that we could drive to the Denver station (which is 25 miles from our house). They failed her the second time. How do you know that the evaluator's are grading fair? Do not trust this company. The over promise and under deliver. They not only fell short on the drive test results, but most importantly treat people with incredible disrespect and lack of compassion. Thank you, DriveSafe and all of the friendly, warm, compassionate, patient, and professional associates who helped me upgrade my permit fo a license on an incredibly last minute notice and appointment. It was really special to see how the different Drive Safe locations cooperate and effectively work with one another to prioritize their customers and accommodate scheduling needs. My personal circumstance left me in dire need of a same day driving test appointment... a request I was sure would be denied given the high demand for such a service. I have worked with Drive Safe in the past, and knowing that I am a returning customer, I feel like they really valued me as such. Colleen from the southeast Aurora location contacted Joshua at this Greenwood Village location to see if there was any way he could squeeze me in. All in all, it was a success! Joshua opened up some availability for me bot because he had to, but because he cared. I truly can not thank him and everyone else working at this location for really going out of their way for me to get me this appointment. When I arrived, I spoke to the gentleman at the desk and another driving instructor who both encouraged me and gave me the confidence I needed to pass my test. During my actual test, Joshua clearly communicated how the drive would go and the expectations of the test including that a slide would be an automatic fail. Joshua was utterly professional during the ride and did not distract me at all; nevertheless, he also was very direct and clear with his directional instructions which made the drive easier and safer for both of us. I really appreciate his critique at the end of the session and learned a lot from my test. It was a perfectly smooth ride and experience, and I would highly recommend this location and Joshua specifically. My only critique- Joshua couldn't talk to me during my ride! It took me two months to get a driving appointment for my son. I received an email confirmation and text confirmation 48 hours before. When my son showed up for the appointment, they said he wasn't in the system. He needs a driving program! I can't reach a person by phone or at the actual site by phone. It's an expensive program, and they are not running a professional program. The employees could care less. This organization should NOT have a contract with the State of Colorado to provide driver's licenses. read more

These are expensive classes and during their driving training they do not cover driving rules/regulations that they test kids on during their driving tests. Not having that background is enough for the same instructors to fail kids on their driving tests. (This is specific to how to use pull out lanes with adjacent bike lanes--which is either not that important because no one actually uses them as designed or of the upmost importance because the testers engage them multiple times so that they become an auto fail if not done correctly.) They provide cars with poor traction and then automatically fail tests if there is any tire slippage when accelerating from stops on snowy roads and they do not allow the use of cars with appropriate traction. Finally, the staff tried to point us to walk in testing at their other school based centers and these centers do not actually provide that service. If the goal is to examine if kids have the skills to be safe on the road they are focusing on the wrong points. If the goal is to milk money from a system where they take advantage of state mandates, they are doing a great job. read more

This place is absolutely ridiculous. The instructor giving me the test completely lied out right just to fail me. First off I have passed several driving tests in several states since I was 16. I am now 50. The instructor lied to the point of saying I didn't give a pedestrian the right of way and I actually did. I didn't take my foot off the break until the teenager was completely out of the roadway and back onto the sidewalk. I took my initial lessons at Master Drive (who I would recommend) then I proceeded to take my test here because it was closer to my home. When I came in the tester/instructor was not very friendly from the start and acted like she wanted to fail me. Then she proceeded to say I exceeded the speed limit by more than 5 mph when the max I went over was 2. Then they failed me because of a new law that came out in Colorado 2 weeks before my test that I was unaware of. They said the only way I would have known about the law was if I had paid them 100s of dollars for another lesson the week before. While I dislike the other location I went to for a retest (highlands ranch area) was more friendly. The instructor was much nicer and seemed like he wanted me to pass not to rip me off another $90. If you take your test at a drive safe go to another location this location(DTC/Greenwood Village) is just out to get as much money as they can off of you. Today, was my first lesson. I don't have much experience driving so I really NEEDED help. I had a bad instructor that was rude and condescending. He would get passive aggressive when he expected a answer to something he said. He REALLY stressed me out and I ending up over thinking which only got him upset. I would definitely either switch to a new instructor, location or a new place. But for now, I feel like I'm stuck here. I gave this place the benefit of the doubt despite reviews and they were right. Words from my instructor: "If they can teach a gorilla to drive then it shouldn't be hard." Which only made me upset when he kept it bringing up when I made a mistake. I had an appointment today at DriveSafe in Greenwood Village. It is not an area that I am familiar with but I needed my license fast and they had the earliest availability. I was nervous coming in because I had taken a test with American Academy and had an absolutely terrible experience. Their tester Gary yelled and talked through the whole thing which he is not supposed to do. He did not tell me why I failed and insisted that I pay them for lessons. My experience with DriveSafe was the refreshing opposite. The person who welcomed me when I came in was super sweet and my tester Randy was very patient and experienced. I took a one hour refresher lesson with him so I could get to know the area and the car that I would drive during the test. Randy was calm the whole time and gave me clear and thorough instructions and explained what he would be looking for during the test. He easily eased my anxiety and I passed my test! Even the other students and parents were very friendly. My friend and her 3 brothers all took classes with DriveSafe and passed on their first attempt. She had recommended DriveSafe to me after the disaster at American Academy and I am so glad I followed her advice. The drivers are kind and professional and I recommend them for drivers of all ages. I am not a teenager and they treated me just as well as the 16 year olds. Additionally, they have spanish speaking drivers for people who need it. They may be more expensive but they are worth it. The test was $114 here, but I would have paid more with American Academy because their test is $85 and then $55 for a retest and if you read their reviews they try to fail people on the first attempt to get more money with the discounted second test, which adds up to $140 and is more expensive than DriveSafe overall. DriveSafe WANTS you to pass and I do not know anyone who failed with them. After the test, Randy clearly explained the pass/fail process and things I did incorrect on the test. Overall it was a super great experience and I recommend them 100%. My sister will be taking classes and her test here after my excellent experience. read more

Less than Impressed! At the SE Aurora location today for my daughters Written permit test. Arrive at 4p, and with in minutes observe another young lady walk in and check in for her 2 hour drive time with a driving instructor. At 430 observed this young lady still sitting in the waiting room and she became very anxious, after another 5 minutes I asked the young lady what she was there for and she stated her drive time with and instructor. I asked if she would like help with the staff to find out whats going on and she said yes. I walked up to the staff member at the front desk (who was sitting there the whole time and never asked her if she needed assistance but watched me talk to her) and advised him of the situation. I commend him for immediately jumping up and going out the front door and telling the driving instructor she was there. This instructor walked right passed the front desk at 430 and outside the door and ingaged in a conversation at 430 with out ever calling this young ladies name to see if she was there. Immediately thisinstructor whos name is Larry said oh, i have been waiting for her no one told me she was here. The other lady he was talking to immediately said oh i would never keep a kid waiting had i known she was here, I would have been talking to Larry. THEN..... this poor young lady had an out of state permit and Larry immediately told her he could not take her out with this permit. This young lady now almost in tears stated she has already had another rive time with her permit. Larry proceeded to make a big ordeal about the permit and delayed her driving time by another 10 minutes before finally taking her out making excuses the whole time about it not being his fault. I observed the whole ordeal and can say with 150% confidence, yes Larry, the whole thing is your fault. Exceptionally POOR experience for this young lady and completely uncalled for. If Larry is ever scheduled to take your kid, leave immediately call and reschedule with another instructor. read more
