I understand their old reviews are rough, but since we joined, they are under a new director and new staff. They have exceeded our expectations for care of our first born infant son! The director, Monica, is very engaged and caring. And all the teachers, even the ones I pass from other age classrooms in the hallway, know my baby and interact with us. The facility is Very clean, and decorated JUST enough to be clean and playful but not overstimulating. The infant teachers and room are spacious and have more carpet for crawling babies than any other infant room we toured in the vicinity. They LOVE my baby, and care for him so well. He leaves happy and safe, with a very expanded skill set each day. They've helped me as I've been introducing him to new foods and give me updates daily, even got him to eat more than me the first week! The room is sanitary and you can't wear shoes or walk around the room without socks or booties to ensure the crawling babies don't pick up germs. They do crafts, activities and bubbles with the kids, and all the classrooms have a curriculum and a weekly food menu. You can also pay a small extra fee if you want them to provide their own "clean" diapers and wipes instead of providing your own...yesss!!! I especially love that instead of waiting for daily reports at the End of the day, I get live updates about his day, diapers, and meals through the app as I'm working. I can even check in to see live video that blocked photos for safety, and they send me daily photos or videos in the app of my baby playing and crawling for his first week! This new team is truly a gift to our family, and they are all very committed to community, safety and healthy development. Don't write this academy out for old reviews of past staff failures. During our time at Willows - Homestead Learning Center, we witnessed some of the worst examples of…read moreproper childcare in our 3 months of enrollment, as highlighted below: Safety concerns: - Teachers and Director do not properly handle targeted bullying nor even acknowledge major injuries when they occur. Our child was bitten several times, and the bite marks went unnoticed/unreported. - Our son has come home several times with injuries to his head with no explanation from the teachers as to what happened. An example of this is that he hit his head TWICE on the same day and I never received an incident report noting either injury. Lack of oversight over dietary restrictions/food allergies - We observe a vegetarian diet, and our son was served meat products TWICE. Both times were attributed to "miscommunications". Even bringing our own lunch and snacks didn't mitigate the issue. - If our son was served a product that he shouldn't have been TWICE within two months' time, I believe that other children have been served food items that they should not have. Lack of preparation/planning for the day/week: - On our first day, we entered the room to discover that his name was nowhere to be found. When we asked about getting his name displayed around the room to the [former] lead teacher, she stated that she "would do it when she had time". It was only after we brought up our concerns to the Regional Director, Chloe, and Director, DeAnne, that our son's name was included in the room. - Our first month (April), the weekly agenda/theme posted outside the room went unchanged for one month. How does the Director, who works in the same building, not have any idea what each classroom is doing on a weekly basis? Shows a lack of oversight. - The daily agenda posted in the classroom doesn't reflect what the children are doing. To this day, it hasn't been updated in over a month. In the 3 months he has been there, I do not believe that he has learned anything educational. Little to no communication on daily activities: - Willows uses "ProCare" for updates, and we received roughly the following updates: 70% = no daily updates 13% = bulk pictures of all kids 15% = specific photos of your child 2% = specific information for your child's activities - We once went for 3 weeks without any app updates. Lack of Concern and Connection from the Teachers: - If Ms. Bella wasn't in the Yellow classroom and another teacher was covering, our son would be so afraid of them that he wouldn't even express his basic needs to them (i.e. have an accident before he told them that he needed to use the potty). - The covering teachers would never notice his accidents and often he would be in wet clothes when we picked him up and would change him ourselves. - If the Yellow Room teachers were already gone for the day and the kids were playing outside, there was literally no one to ask about how your child's day went. With no app updates and no teachers to communicate with, parents quite literally have no idea what occurred during your child's day. We met with the RD and Director several times to address our concerns about the Yellow Room, but even to our last day, we cannot say that anything ever improved. Over our last few weeks, we saw glimmers of hope and improvement but cannot say that it wouldn't revert to the poorly organized, barely functioning room that it has been in since our arrival.

Mrs. Ferguson, Ms. Roberts and Mr. Powell are amazing with the children. Their summer program has helped both of our children become excellent swimmers. Their instructors are the absolute best. And you can't beat their hours and closure dates. We have loved our experience at Willows.

In the interest of transparency, current and prospective parents should know that those steps included having their attorney at Goodspeed and Merrill send my family a cease‑and‑desist letter threatening a defamation lawsuit in conjunction with a fabricated CPS report if I did not immediately remove my review. The CPS allegations they threatened to file were created by flipping our concerns about the school back onto us; even if those allegations had been true, they still would not constitute child abuse. I'll be attaching the threatening document they sent so families can understand exactly what is going on. My review is based entirely on my firsthand experience. Any parent who wants to understand the situation more fully is welcome to reach out. Original Post: I'm writing this as a parent who keeps receipts- emails, timelines, photos, everything. And based on that documentation, I want other families to know what we experienced here. Our son came home with a bad bruise on his back, yet we heard nothing from the school. When brought to their attention, the school said they documented, but they repeatedly refused to give us the incident report. This wasn't an isolated issue. When our son caught a virus the school had emailed about a week earlier, the owner later denied the presence of the virus -- despite us having the original message. We also discovered missed diaper changes in our son's log that led to a severe diaper rash. From my perspective, this daycare is more focused on protecting its image than being honest with parents or providing consistent care. Her teachers were so great and their love for the kids really showed. They sent pictures daily so I was able to see all the fun activities they did during the day. The class was able to go on nature walks and do many activities outside, including lots of picnics which I just love. I also loved the parent involvement aspect too. We have been impressed from day 1 and have been there 3 years. Almost all of the staff has been there for 10 or more years, which is almost unheard of in the child care world. We started bringing our 4 year old son as well, and he came home the first day and proclaimed "My first day was AWESOME!!!". He has said that several times since. Their classes are "small by design" to focus on social-emotional growth and it shows. The DPS school my son is now in has 28 kids compared to Positive Alternative's 12. They have great communication and get kids really excited about learning. In addition, they have a special relationship with a nearby retirement home and often visit their "grandmas and grandpas" for special holidays to do art projects or sing with them. Positive Alternative is helping to raise conscientious, loving humans. They have great educational field trips in the summer that both kids love. All of the teachers are amazingly talented and dedicated and we feel blessed to have our children cared for so well.

Her mom started the school 30 years ago and it's truly a family focused business. It is a second home for our kiddos and they feel loved when they are there. Several of the teachers/leadership has been there over 20 years. There is very little turnover with teachers. Many of the junior staff are past students that loved the school so much that they came back as adults to work there. For some of the logistics...prices are competitive and you get vacation days, which is basically unheard of anymore. They are only closed on major holidays and rarely close for weather. They offer sibling discounts. They provide two snacks AND lunch, which is well balanced and always has fruit and veggies. You can also provide cereal for them to serve your kiddos in the morning. So nice as a working parent to not have to worry about packing anything! In the older classrooms, they do field trips throughout the year, and weekly outings during the summer--including trips to the park, Trampoline places, movies, Chuck E-Cheese, Bellevue Park, etc. They also offer swim lessons, soccer, music class and other activities on rotation. Another benefit is the family activities--breakfast with Santa with carriage rides, summer picnics at the pool, fundraiser nights at local restaurants and others. Overall, we're so glad we spent the last 3 years at PA and are so sad that we have to move on to Kindergarten.
