This is my absolute go to liquor store in Maryland. It is a true bourbon destination that has rightfully been featured on several bourbon YouTube channels. They are known for their excellent selection of whiskey, consistently landing rare allocations while maintaining some of the best pricing in the area. I make it a point to stop by every single week because their inventory is always changing and you never know what you might find on the shelves. They also run a very generous rewards program. It allows you to bank your points over time so you can eventually use them to purchase high end, rare bottles at MSRP dealer prices, which is a massive perk for enthusiasts. Outside of the liquor store portion, the rest of the business is great too. The pharmacy side is fully stocked with unique Maryland specific items, and they have a highly capable, helpful staff behind the pharmacy counter. Drug City has been on our list for a while now but without the Key Bridge, getting there is a little tougher. We came for the liquor store, but stayed for lunch at their soda fountain/lunch counter in the back of the store. They have a good selection of whiskey with very good prices. There was minimal price markup between Drug City and if we were to buy direct from a NYC distillery we really like. I really enjoyed my chicken dumpling daily soup special at the soda fountain, but the star of the show was my chocolate peanut butter milkshake. The food in there is simple lunch fare but you cannot beat the prices. they have a long list of seasonings you can add to your potato chips that I want to come back and try more of. Drug City is a weird place. They have all the sentimental collectibles, angels and Jim Shore. They have food and snacks that you haven't seen since you were a kid. They have a soda fountain where you can order homemade Sodas, including almond smash. Their sandwiches are supposedly very good and affordable. There's a liquor store and you can get snowballs. There's a pharmacy, a notary, and a post office. It's an amazing wonderland. Go see it for yourself. read more

I heard about this place for many years and just recently made it there. It's a huge drug store with a large liquor store inside. I didn't come for a special event or go to the restaurant that I heard is pretty amazing, I came for a bourbon hunt. The selection of bourbon was nice but not over the top. They do have some fancy bottles in a glass case that you can purchase if you've accumulated points on their points system. I found a bottle of 13th colony bourbon that I took home. Probably one of the randomest yet coolest places I've ever been. Located in a side of town I am not totally familiar with, this spot is a liquor store, pharmacy, convenience store, soda shop, and speakeasy all in one. We stopped by for the fountain shop. When you first walk in, you feel like you might be in the wrong place. Don't worry, just find your way through the store and head to the left. You'll see a quaint, striped awning and a little door to the fountain shop. Inside, we were greeted by a friendly bartender who explained how he makes each soda custom with specific syrups. He's done everything from making his own Sprite to a dupe of Taco Bell's code red. There's amazing milkshakes too - all made with Taharka Brothers ice cream and they can even be made boozy with your choice of alcohol. We got a strawberry milkshake, a chocolate milkshake (with the whiskey served on the side), and a recreation of the Suburban soda company's "almond smash". The soda tasted like what a Shirley Temple wishes she could taste like! The strawberry milkshake was made with real strawberries and tasted so good even though I'm not usually a fan of strawberry. I finished my chocolate milkshake and loved that the bartender took my request of making it a "light chocolate" shake. The Evan Williams whiskey poured over gave it a nice kick too. My boyfriend was super excited about the whiskey and bourbon collection. I don't know much about it myself, but there were apparently some really rare selections for very very good prices. We were even given a sneak peek at the upstairs speakeasy even though it wasn't open on this particular day. They mainly do private tasting events upstairs so check out their website to find out when those are happening. I love the retro vibes, the old school jukebox, and the friendly service. All I can say is, WOW, what a hidden gem. A pharmacy that serves as a liquor store, gift shop, and bar? It's an interesting combination that makes it a fun place to visit. The liquor selection is actually pretty decent and I was able to find a few hidden gems at a very good price here, as were many of my friends. I also checked out The Fountain, which is small bar with a classic 1980s (and older) vibe. There were some rare, allocated whiskies available for tastings at a reasonable price, around $10 for an ounce. I'm sure their menu changes occasionally but it's a solid bar to visit to try something nice. My group also ordered the turkey sandwich that came with chips. It was a reasonably good sandwich, though nothing outstanding. They seemed to have some interesting pies, but I didn't have time to try those. Here, it's definitely about the whiskies and vibe. This is a liquor store, restaurant, and mini mart all in one! In terms of their liquor, beer and wine selection, they have it all! They even carry some hard to find drinks ! They even make their own seltzers! So far, we have tried three of their releases and each one has not disappointed us yet! I love that on some weekends we walk in and they have a tasting available for free as well! I have not ventured into the store part much but from the couple times I've browsed, they seem to have all the basic needs. Their prices are not bad either ! I went to the soda shop after seeing it on the local news. I loved it! One of my best childhood memories was going to the local soda fountain and getting tuna on toast with tomato soup. Then getting a chocolate ice cream soda for dessert. They had all of that and more! Delicious food, delicious homemade ice cream and soda treats, 20+ flavors of house made chips! Great staff! I don't live near the area any more but we have always gone to drug city for our prescription needs. My parents still come here for their prescription medicines and whenever I have questions regarding their prescriptions, I love how friendly and professional the staff are! We personally love the pharmacist George! What a friendly guy and always so willing to help to answer any of our questions. I live 3 thousand miles away and wish I could get this level of professionalism and kindness at my local pharmacy! This place also got a new make over as I was there few months ago visiting my family. It looks great and I love they are changing up this place for the better. It's fun to just go visit when I'm visiting to pick up my parents prescription as I find the most fun and random things to buy for my kids and for the other members of my family. I seriously wish a lot more pharmacy was like this place where I matter as a person rather than a sale number they need to accomplish. From what I hear, new owners purchased Drug City a few years ago and they have definitely made some nice changes. They have a HUGE selection of alcohol and their prices are really good too. I can't say enough about the excellent service in the pharmacy as well as all other aspects of this business. When Doc George became the owner, the disposition of the staff changed and in a really positive way. You can call in and order your prescription and add anything you may need, for delivery. Anything they sell. From milk, bread, candy,liquor, baby items, first aid supplies to prescriptions you can have it delivered so that you don't have to leave your house. The staff on the other end of the phone are personable. In the store, the staff is very helpful. Durable medical supplies and Diabetic supplies are also available. Illegally deny customers medication because they think I'm not on enough medication. The pharmacy managers suggestion was that I get muscle relaxers prescribed on top of my pain medication. Then they would fill it. They can't just fill prescriptions with only 1 controlled substances. These people are acting like they know more than my doctor about a diagnosis they don't even know. This is an amazing store! A strong store! A store that cares about their customers and works hard to connect with the community. Face it, independent pharmacies are disappearing faster than I can say. I had a friend who ran a multi generational operation on Eastern Ave across from Patterson Park until one of the biggies offered big $ for his customer lists. Sadly, That's how it works. Drug City has withstood the test of time and completion over the last several decades. Besides the pharmacy, post office and homeopathy section, their HBC section is well stocked and competitively priced. And the candy and snack sections are well stocked with brands and items both iconic and current. A meat snack section second to none and there's an end cap dedicated to Jelly Belly. Wow. There's even a snowball stand inside the store. And frozen food! And the adult beverages? Amazing selection! While the pharmacists are ok, everything else is poor. Poor customer service all around, from grumpy ppl at the counters (all of them), to lack of communication, to them not giving all of the prescriptions. Also not to happy about being accused of theft (security guard could not get his story straight enough to say what i was supposed to have done, which was open up the medication bag to make sure they gave the right prescriptions, which is apparently theft). I grew up in Dundalk and still regularly take my grandmother to Drug City to get her and my grandfathers scripts filled. Have noticed that in the past couple years, the service here has dropped off significantly. And while their prices are good, i would recommend going somewhere else. read more

To describe Drug City as a "pharmacy" is misleading. Being a pharmacy is only part of it. They carry an extensive inventory of everything from liquor to natural remedies, and though newly remodeled and modern, it evokes memories of a general store where you had one stop shopping. I have been going to Drug City for 6 or 7 years getting the same prescription filled every 90 days, so of course they have it on file and you would think at 67 years old I'd be grandfathered in because of my loyalty to this company but NO!! They start a new policy, which you would think would affect new prescriptions from new customers but of course us old loyal customers end up getting screwed. I give them a script for 240 pills mind you they have filled for at least 6 years and the new pharmacist tells me he can only fill 120 and I can NEVER have the other 120 (Sounds a little fishy like stealing them). I know they paid a $900,000 fine for shady business in the past so maybe the DEA is keeping a close eye on them now, but this is a legal prescription written by my doctor every 90 days they have gladly filled for 6-7 years on top of the tens of thousands I've spent there on supplies, gifts, liquor and house hold needs beside the fact I've moved and out of loyalty drive much further to get there. Needless to say I'm fed up with their bullship and will be taking my business elsewhere and they can keep their loyalty card because evidently it doesn't work both ways--I'm done! Ever since Doc George has purchased the store it's like a whole new place!! The store looks fantastic and has finally been brought into the 2000's no more yellowed walls or ugly ceilings! I try to always buy from small businesses, but after MULTIPLE bad experiences I am done wasting my time with Drug City Pharmacy. The last straw for me was when they filled my prescription incorrectly and acted indignant about it when I called to complain. I had been prescribed 180 pills but received 60 with no explanation at the time I picked them up. When I called them to find out what happened they said they did this because my insurance wouldn't pay for the full script. How about giving me a choice Drug City? When I complained to the pharmacist that they filled the script without even checking with me first he replied, "Wellllll just bring it in and I'll give you your money back." That's not the point. The point is DRUG CITY PHARMACY MADE ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT MY MEDICATION WITHOUT CONSULTING ME FIRST. From now on I will be taking my business to a large chain store pharmacy because I no longer feel like I can trust them to something this important. If they can overlook something like this what else might get missed that could cause me additional health problems? read more

If it was possible to give lower than one star, I would. In the past two weeks, I have had nothing but problems with the pharmacist at Drug City. I have been getting the same prescriptions filled there for years with no changes in insurance or dosage and have never had an issue until now. I have been calling Drug City for the past 4 days regarding a medication that I was due to run out of and needed to see if they received my doctor's order for a refill. At first, I was told that my doctor had never called in my prescription and that they were waiting for him to call it in. So, I contact my doctor and he tells me he sent it in over a week ago, but he would call it in again. Fast forward to a few hours later- the pharmacy at this point STILL says that they had not received a refill request from my doctor. Aggravated, I contact my dr.. sure enough, he said he called it in again. (This doctor has always been on top of calling in refills, so I have never doubted him.) It is now 9pm... I call the pharmacy and they say "Oh yes, the doctor called in the prescription today, you can come pick it up... but, the insurance won't cover it because it is too soon since you just had it filled on 4/2." No, I did not... if I had it filled on 4/2, you would have my signature on file, which you do not... so, I speak the the pharmacist. At this point, I am justifiably angry; he was very condescending and told me that I picked it up. When I question him, he hangs up on me. I called back, looking to speak with a supervisor, but there was not one available (convenient.) I end up speaking with the pharmacist again; at this point, I have made a concentrated effort to maintain my composure and politely asked "If you say that I picked up the prescription, there will be an electronic signature indicating this. I did not pick up the prescription because #1. I was told that you never received the doctor's orders until TODAY, and #2 I was out of state for a family member's funeral." He then rudely cut me off, saying "Well, you might as well just call the cops and have them meet you here." and hung up on me again. Completely unprofessional, rude, and just downright ignorant. Absolutely horrific experience . I am a person with a legit disorder that I have been prescribed medication for , for several years . I have aways seen the same doctor but recently because things were hectic (spouse needed surgery , applying to colleges ) I tried a doctor right by my house who ended up wanting me to try different medicine. The medicine wasn't helping me in any way and I found the doctor to be rushing and making some errors . I ultimately ended up back at my regular physician who I have seen for years and who wrote out a prescription for the same exact medicine I had been taking for several years . I dropped my prescription off , called a few hours later and was told by a clerk they weren't going to fill it . When I asked why they were openly discussing back and fourth loudly (hippa violation) about my prescription and discussing the issue. I was told because I went to a different doctor before going back to my initial doctor was the problem. Ok, refusing to fill a legal prescription from my doctor for a disability that I have is not only unethical basing off nothing but just because factors , but also is illegal and against the ADA Laws . I was told to call the owner next day and I did . One of his exuses was he wasn't going to fill it because my doctors office is 18 minutes from the pharmacy ???? I live by the pharmacy though so obviously this is where my prescription would be dropped off . He was trying to intimidate me I guess by saying he was going to call my doctors but I told him that was totally fine as they both already knew everything because I don't lie and I don't sneak around trying to get drugs like the pharmacists clearly implied . He also said He would fill it now but never again , again this is totally illegal . No worries though because I would NEVER Support this business again . I haven't done anything wrong . He wasn't listening to anything I was saying and just kept speaking over top of me disrespectfully . Little does he know ( because he knows absolutely nothing about me ) I am actually a student nurse with a very good background never EVER been in trouble for anything or done anything illegal. This was complete discrimination and I will be filing an Ada complaint. read more
