Not sure how this place has no reviews and the CVS has 3+ stars... New in town and get most of my prescriptions by mail. Except when I needed antibiotics for a respiratory infection. This store was closed on New Years Day (fair enough) so I had to use CVS. When I needed another round of antibiotics a week later, I made sure my doctor sent the script here. The medicine was ready when I arrived about an hour later. There was no line and they had two ladies at the registers. They were friendly and efficient but didn't try to waste my time - exactly what you want when you are sick and exhausted! They even saved me money on a prescription toothpaste that I'd been buying from my dentist for years ($12 vs $5). read more

I have had the worst experience with this pharmacy since I started getting my prescriptions there over the last year. It's been by necessity since Teeter won't take my insurance, and CVS left the neighborhood. The staff is rude, and I've had issues with one of my prescriptions multiple times over the last few months. Although the pharmacist has been nicer about trying to help me, it's only after I call that I even know there's an issue. Several times, they haven't bothered to call me to tell me that they were having problems getting my prescription. I had to go there after the horrible storm we had a few months ago, and now I need to go out of my way to pick up my prescription today b/c it took them so long to get it, and they won't deliver it today. I need it today, so delivery tomorrow does me no good. While I like to support a local small pharmacy, I strongly recommend that you DO NOT USE THEM!!! read more

I would not use this Pharmacy. Although they may be a small business they are certainly not one worth supporting. James Pharmacy previously was gracious enough to accept packages on behalf of the neighborhood to avoid package theft. Although it is not a requirement for them to do so it is something that they had been doing, therefore, people rely on them. I ordered a package (very expensive) to be sent to the Pharmacy and went in the other day to pick it up. Asked if it was there and they said it was not, and provided no other information. I called today and they notified me they were no longer a UPS delivery point and my package had been denied drop off the same day I had come in to ask if it was there. IF THAT ISN'T POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS. Just use CVS, cheaper prices and around the corner. read more

Good local option. My wife can't drive, so their delivery service is really important to us. Also, would rather give my money to a locally owned and run business rather than a national corporate chain. read more

I give James Pharmacy 5 stars because you don't get any better.I lived in Baltimore all my life.James is a family bisness.They know their customers by name not just prescriptions.The staff is always there to help and to listen.You can call up and have some minor health concern and they will be glad to see if there is an over the counter med that could help you.Thats very comforting to know help is a phone call away.Some people can't afford to run to the doctor for a cold and so forth espcially today with all the lay-offs and cutbacks.You can go to James and get your meds or, like myself ,don't drive and can't walk very well,get my meds delivered by their friendy drivers who may be able to help you out if you are alittle short.I remember one time I couldn't afford to get my meds and they were dropped off anyway.I said I didn't have the money and he said they were paid for already.I never did find out by who.Would the other big name stores do that.I think not. I left my house on the eastern shore to spend the entire day at our city house being renovated. I forgot my meds for my type 2 diabetes and it really just wasn't feasible to go back. Yes, James Pharmacy has moved slightly and is now in a perfectly fine space. It is by far the best place in south Baltimore to get prescriptions filled. It's great value is the real pharmacists who have worked there for years, know patrons and will give advice and suggestions if new drugs might cause unexpected effects. The staff is also very stable and helpful; you would only think they are grumpy if you didn't live in Bawlmer, Hon. read more
