Let me start off by saying we have moved towns and are with a different care team now. My experience with Drum Hill Pediatrics was TERRIBLE. If I could warn new parents not to go there, I would. My son started presenting with asthma symptoms at a young age, four months old. He was hospitalized for the first time at 14 months with asthma symptoms. He was constantly sick and in the ER if not every week, every other week with breathing issues. Dr. David Newman told me this was NORMAL. That he wouldn't put a baby on asthma medication. We were given a nebulizer and albuterol but no preventatives. After my son's hospitalization I DEMANDED to see a specialist. He acted insulted and asked me if my son really needed a specialist. I suggested to him that I thought my son had immune issues. He told me since my son never had an ear infection he couldn't possibly have an immune disorder. We now see multiple specialists at Boston childrens hospital. Immunology, allergy, pulmonary, and endocrinology. My son had severe asthma caused by an immune disorder. Dr. David Newman had prescribed my son so many oral steroids it stunted his growth, which is why we see endocrinology. Instead of saying that my son's condition needed care he couldn't provide, he was condescending, rude, and my son's quality of life suffered from it. If you are thinking of joining the practice do NOT choose Dr. Newman as your provider. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

This was our pediatrician for over a decade and 1/2. We attempted to switch to a new pediatric office only due to the fact that we moved. Our teen daughter had a bad experience with the new pediatrician and we opted to go back to Drumhill. Mind you, our other two kids had not even left yet.. . We were told no. We could not come back. The office manager hung up on me. I called back, said we must have been disconnected and apologized for being upset this was just very stressful. I told her my name and asked her hers, she refused to give it to me. She said "she wasn't comfortable." She's the manager! This office has amazing doctors, but is unfortunately run by a bunch of immature coeds. read more

I can never express enough how much I appreciate everyone at DrumHill Pediatrics. When I was still in the hospital I was given a list of pediatricians to choose from for my daughter Grace. I googled a few, but when I saw De Lauren Verra's photo, I immediately chose her! I couldn't have chosen someone better to take care of my daughter like her! She is just wonderful, she is so attentive and compassionate. Thank you Dr Verra, thank so much! The staff is also very friendly and attentive. It is easy to get appointments and callbacks. Love DHP. Back in the day, the founding physician here was MY pediatrician, and now I'm taking my own kids to his practice, along with his son and several other wonderful female pediatricians. The elder Dr Newman is old school, will get you the referral to the specialist you need because he knows everyone and goes way back, and won't freak out over nothing, although he is a better safe than sorry type when it comes to some things. I have been really thankful for the many specialist appointments he has arranged for my kids over the years, some of them for things that I didn't myself find particularly concerning but that did end up needed some follow up. The younger Dr Newman has kids similar in age to mine and has a really wonderful bedside manner and is very kind to the kids. Same with Dr Hunt, who sees my daughter. They have an affiliation with Tufts/Floating and have referred us several times to specialists who come rotate to Lowell from Tufts proper in Boston, so we didn't even have to drive into the city. Super convenient. The office is never crowded full like some are - they get you into a room promptly even when there may be a bit of a wait or you are there early, to minimize germy exposure time, and if you have a newborn or a very young one, they schedule those frequent early checks after they're born for special times where it is only newborns in the office. I've taken all three of my kids here for the last ten years and have nothing but wonderful things to say about this office. They are responsive to concerned phone calls when my kids are sick at home and I don't know whether to take them in or not, they never make you feel like the idiot parent for asking a ton of questions, and they take their time with you. This was my oldest child pediatrician since he was born but until this 2018, We have been experienced a considerable drop in their quality service during the last year. This year with our 2nd child we decided to look for a different pediatrician (and give a try), it's been a wonderful experience. Drumhill pediatrics became a sad and $$$ environment (we just experienced that during our visit 10 days ago) they have lost the human feeling starting from the front desk ladies (the youngest girl is always mad). We move to Derry Pediatrics and as being said, it's been a wonderful experience with Dr. Delagrotta as He is also a wonderful person, is a bit far for us but still worth. Our kids are the most important in our lives, Drum Hill Pediatrics is not for our kids anymore and the best, it cost you only $30 dollars get rid of them, (is what they charge for transfer the records). Just asking questions about the doctors on staff... Top notch doctors, but office staff are more on idiot side. People who does office administration screws up paperwork and appointment schedule consistently. If it wasn't for excellent doctors, I probably would not take my kid here. read more

I would highly recommend DHP. I have been seeing Dr. Irving Newman and Dr. Dave since I was a patient in pedi. I now take my 5mo old here. All staff is pleasant and able to answer questions, or direct you to someone who can. They do a great job a screening calls to see if the concern warrants a trip. Have spoken to Dr. Miller and Dr. Hunt on the phone and was given guidance and relief. Nurses are friendly and quick with vaccines. Dr. Dave takes the time to talk to parents and answer questions without making you feel rushed. They refer to specialty with concerns to ensure your child has the best care possible. I have never had issues making appointments. If my kids are sick I call and get an appointment. We had a lot of strep issues with our son and they were very helpful and caring. They know my kids by name and are good at what they do. read more

My kids have been with one or the other Dr. Newmans from birth which is over 18 years. The care is good, thankfully my kids have been mostly healthy. My issue is with the billing staff, I have NO complaints with the doctors. I am in a profession where I understand how insurance works and on multiple occasions they code the services not in-line with how the insurance company needs them coded to get coverage without a hassle which ultimately generates a bill for me. If I didn't know what I know I would be paying co-insurance and copays that should be covered by insurance. When I get the insurance company involved they agree with me and try to work with the office to explain the way to code the service. Most recently this happened when my child needed a telehealth visit that was COVID related and should, by everyone's account, be covered in full. The office will not code it properly to have it covered. The insurance provider agrees it should be covered but the billing person seems to not want to work me us, as the patient, to get the coverage we should. To be clear the office will get paid by the insurance company, they will not be out of the money they deserve but they will not work within the insurance company's coding guidelines. I will fight this and get it covered but please be careful you may be paying for visits that you should not have to. read more

I was actually recommended by a nightshift red head curly haired nurse from Lowell General hospital when I was recovering after my csection. She said her sons come here and she loves it. So when I came to the first appointment, I was AMAZED by the waiting room. I love the train that goes around! The babies will definitely love it as they get older. Books, toys, wall spin blocks, lots of stuff to keep your kids occupied while waiting. The staff is nice and are always asking where the other twin is if I only had one twin with me (I had twins in case you didn't know that by now.) They seem to remember us every time which is awesome. Their Doctor is Dr. Lauren Miller and she's awesome, young, nice, and very quick! The nurses are awesome and quick when giving vaccinations. The rooms are nice and have cute wall decor and paintings. There's also books and toys in the room while you wait for the doctor after the nurses do their thing. The other doctors are very nice too! Thank you guys! read more

I've been taking my kids to see the both Dr. Newmans since they were at Chelmsford Pedi.. the father is great but the son is horrible throughout the yrs i've been taking my kids there... it's only since last yr that I decided to leave this place because Dr. David Newman became less interactive with me as a parents who's been going there since they first open the practice! And then there was a point where we weren't able to be seen because our ins was not active at the time, they told me i would have to pay up front and even if ins was dealt with we are not able to get a refund. Also another time they denied to see my sick son who had a temp of 102 because if I couldn't get to the office within the 20 mins before them closing,told me to take him to the ER! If that was the case i would have nv called to see if his dr could see him first! THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!! STAFF AND DR. NEWMAN DOES NOT TREAT EVERYONE THE SAME DUE THEIR INS!! My kids were a pt of theirs since they were born and now my oldest is 18. read more

My two have been patients since they were born. Dr. David has been outstanding since our first appointment. He is approachable, has a great bedside manner, and listens. Never had an issue with making appointments, or billing or .. anything. We have since moved, but kept them as the kids provider because they are worth the extra ten mile drive. I myself am a medical professional and I have several comments that future patients may wish to consider. First off they have NO respect for parents that have holistic values. We were treated like child abusers and only allowed to see a certain Dr. They oversteped the boundaries of personal choice. My second issue is their HIPPA practices. They were calling my cell phone to tell me my 26 year old owed money on my granddaughters account. Not once or twice but several times till I angrily let them know it was a violation. The receptionist then told me they never said why they were calling for yet I had 2 or 3 messages to the contrary. They now have decided they will no longer see my granddaughter because my daughter carried a balance. I should also point out that our first visit they asked for no payment and on the second visit I went with a check from my daughter and they had no account balance at that time. Our 3rd and final visit which I took time off work for was made in error and they just shuffled me away. So heres the kicker...they now want 30.00 for 2 sheets of paper so we can get care elsewhere. I fully intend to follow up with phone calls to ma.gov on the reasonable fee stature. read more

I have been taking my 5 yo and 13 mo to this office since they were born. They both received adequate care during that time. We had a lapse in our insurance and had to go on Mass Health so I could get my family covered in the interim. I needed medical records for them and they made me pay 30 dollars each and then told me once I did this I couldn't bring my kids back. I was devastated. Not to mention that the Dr. Irving Newman ( the Dr. I had spent all that time researching for the best) refused to sign their records because the kids were past due for their physical, even though the office advised me to delay and wait for my permanent insurance. My experience with my childhood pediatrician far eclipses the one I had here, I guess you can't find Dr.s like that anymore. read more

Rip off! If you go here, never plan on changing doctors because they will charge you 30 bucks per kid to send medical records. I have 3 so I'm out 90 bucks. The new doctor even tried to get them and they refuse to release them unless you pay. Doctors there are very condescending and the staff are very rude. read more

I've been taking my kids here for years. The doctors are amazing, there is minimal waiting time (never waited more than 15 min.) and I can always get my kids in when I need to. They even have Sat. morning appts. Nurses and staff are also very nice. read more
