I would keep using Nassau vet even if I moved an hour away and had another vet next door to me…read more (Well, maybe not for routine shots in that case!) When I moved to Troy, I switched to a nearby vet and learned the hard way that not all vets are equal. When my cat was dying and the other vet had given up, I came back to Nassau. They ran a broader set of tests, including referring out an expensive ultrasound they could have done in house and pocketed the cash for but which they thought a specialist could interpret better--and when it would have taken weeks for me to get in to see that specialist, they called and got me in. They also treated symptoms aggressively so that my cat started improving even before they had a diagnosis. Which they got. Now I see my cat eating voraciously again and see her weight going back up, when I was expecting her to die this month. Nassau vet anticipates likely problems (like which medicines taste the worst and give recommendations about how to make it better). The staff monitors texts and responds very quickly. I did have another cat have to be put to sleep here years ago, and the staff sent a very sweet card. Really, I cannot recommend Nassau vet highly enough.

This practice had some significant ups and downs over the past seven years but has become reliable…read moreand provided excellent service since the Drs DeFiores took over the practice. We have taken a particular shine to Dr. Lucas DeFiores who is high energy, very personable, and has excellent rapport with our dog. Two years ago our dog needed surgery and as I waited for her to come of anesthesia Dr. Flores came outside to chat with me and to reassure me how things had gone. I found that kind and reassuring. (This was when they were under construction and everyone had to wait outside and the pet had to be met and brought inside by a tech. It was a frustrating flashback to when they did the same thing during the COVID pandemic -- I am not sure whether that was before the DeFlores or afterwards, though a number of other pet owners sitting in the parking lot share their ire over that situation with me -- this overlapped with the owners being put on hold for when they called to get status updates) The staff as a whole are warm, friendly, and quick to remember your pet (I've got to admit my dog has an amazing personality) Scheduling appointments is easy, getting medication refills is pretty seamless. They do have some protocols that will drive you nuts, like accepting your call and leaving you on hold for a seeming eternity. We've been to vets in the Northwest, California, and now back in New York State -- and the two Drs DeFlores have simply been the best vets we've experienced. I have complete confidence in them and they do everything possible to support the pet owners.

James is incredible. We sent our 7 month puppy to James for four weeks last year. We were, and…read morecontinue to be, so happy that we did. She did not have any problems (and continues to be a wonderful dog and that's probably because we sent her to James). She had basic commands down. After James, she became excellent at multiple commands. She would sit at her bowl for hours if you don't release her (by verbal command). You can leave her with steak in the next room and won't eat it if you don't release her. You get the picture - James knows what he is doing and will set you, and your pup, up for success. He was very thorough in explaining what to expect and how to continue her training at home. We could not be happier. Our pup is also happy, and she loved James. When we brought her back for boarding a couple nights she couldn't wait to hang out with James. We had to save up to send her, and it was worth every penny. We would do it again. Highly, highly recommend. For any pup!

As a last ditch effort we called James @ Empire K-9 2.5 hrs away from our home. After 5 weeks of training with Ross he was transformed into the best dog we have seen anywhere. James spent a whole day with myself and my whole family to train us on how to handle and communicate with our new family member. Here we are over a year later and if we call James with a question he is quick to respond back with a helpfull answer. When we need to board Ross we drive him down to James @ Empire K9 2.5 hours away because he is the only one we trust with our Ross. Thank you James for this gift of being able to communicate with our deaf dog, you have no idea how much joy this little Miniature Bull Terrier bring to our family now.
