Got it with a side of extra gravy and it was delicious! Juicy chicken and potatoes was oozing with the yummy gravy. And I always love the fresh Dhalpuri for the roti shell. It is known and advertised as Drupatis online but its easy to drive passed multiple times because its written in tiny letters between a sign that reads Dave's Roti and Doubles Its no wonder doubles is in their name because the doubles are delicious!! Note that it comes in mild and spicy and spicy is spicyyyy!! The chicken curry was alright. Also tried the stew chicken with rice and peas. Their mixed meat chow mein and chicken in the ruff fried rice (which is crispy fried chicken on top of their veggie fried rice). The chicken is delicious but not a fan of using large pieces of the white meat (super dryy). Overall worth a try, would recommend for the doubles! read more

The food at this restaurant is delicious, the environment is clean, and they even offer complimentary coffee and tea, which is a nice touch. However, I would rate the customer service three stars. The staff are not particularly friendly, and it can be difficult to get a response from them. There is little to no eye contact, and this seems to apply across the board, including management/owner. read more

I was gonna give this place a 1 star but I'll give 'em two stars cause their coleslaw and jerk chicken was good. The wrap was pretty dry. This was the first time my girlfriend and I felt discriminated. In Scarborough, as two Asian people, I did not expect this to happen to us. The cashier clearly didn't want to take our order. No eye contact, no smiling , and so much attitude. I usually ask what they recommend to get to new people to break the ice or the tension but she did not budge. After she took our orders, we overheard her making it clear that she's talking about us, and saying she just "speaks the truth, I don't care". HUHH? What the heck did we say? I visited Dave's Drupati's recently for brunch to celebrate a relative's birthday. I used to frequent the Bellamy location, but this was my first time at the new spot due to personal reasons and starting my own family. We were a large group--about 25 people--and I had my two small children with me, including a one-year-old. After my meal, I had a small amount of roti and dhal left (maybe half a roti or less), which I'd broken up on the parchment paper with the intent to feed my baby later. He was fussy during the meal, and instead of letting food go to waste, I thought it would be better to save it for him. I wrapped it up neatly--didn't ask for extra containers or take anything beyond what I had already paid for. That's when the older woman who serves the food came out and told me I couldn't take it. I calmly tried to explain, but she cut me off mid-sentence and said it didn't matter--it's dine-in only. Her tone was unnecessarily harsh and dismissive. She would've rather the food go into the garbage than be used to feed a baby. What bothered me most wasn't the policy--I understand restaurants have rules--but the total lack of basic courtesy and human decency in how I was addressed. I didn't argue. I tossed the food. But the disrespect stuck with me. To make it worse, I watched a white man walk out shortly after with what appeared to be a full roti, and no one said a word to him. Sadly, this felt like yet another example of how West Indian people can sometimes treat each other worse than outsiders. What also stings is that I was going out of my way to show respect: I cleared the tables for my family, cleaned food off the floor that my baby dropped, and made sure to leave the space tidy. I didn't treat this like any old chain restaurant--I treated it like a place I respected. Let's just say I regret that now. I've met Dave before and he's a genuinely kind person, but this kind of customer service--from someone who's supposed to represent the business at the counter--is unacceptable. If respect and community still mean something, there needs to be a serious conversation about how customers are treated here. read more

I should have known that this joint was going to be Disappointment Central we walked in and we saw Mike Lindell (aka near bankruptcy, TheMyPillowGuy) on a Teevee screen doing an infomercial on F*xLews. Trying a new Caribbean spot, Doubles and Saheena are the litmus test for me. So we ordered three Doubles (3.00 each) and a Saheena (3.99). I asked for NO sweet cucumber chutney, and they dressed all with it and the Barra was rubbery, and the Channa was mediocre. The Saheena was a colossal joke. It wasn't a Dasheen bhaji (spinach) roll, sliced and enrobed with ground split pea batter and filled or topped with Channa. Nope, it was chipped up bhaji style in a fritter batter deep fried, zero Channa. As for the doubles, in addition to giving me their nasty chutney, they gave us not doubles, but for two of three Doubles we ordered they gave us what they deem 'Singles' in Trinidad. One Bara, filled with Channa, folded like a taco and wrapped in a paper presented like a hot steamy baby's doody bag. Hmm, so appetizing. PS, this meagre order was costly, and terrible in quality, took sooooo long to come out? Why, maybe they were snacking on the two missing Barra from we ordered?! My friend and I ordered from their lunch menu and our entrees consisted of fish with green peppers and onions on white rice and my sister ordered chicken low mein with pieces of chicken on top. Everything was delicious and serving size were nice size. We all had some to carry home. There was adequate seating. We had to order and pay at the cashier and sit down. Someone brought out our food. Quick and easy takeout when you're having a Stew Chicken with Callaloo craving. I ordered mine with plain rice but you can opt for rice and peas too. Taste was right and there's definitely some generous pinch of seasoning salt used to really amp up the stew flavour compared to home cooking but that's why it's tasty. For the win add on an order of 10 pieces of Phulourie with Mango Sauce or Tamarind Sauce. This time I picked Mango Sauce for a change from the usual; it was watered down yet flavourful with a hint of garlic seasoning. Nice touch! read more

I personally didn't like that the doubles came in a thinner wrap similar to a tortilla. I also thought the spice was pretty mild and could've been hotter. After seeing the (alleged) owners classless responses to honest reviews on google, I wasn't going to give my money or support to this business by dining here but I made a committment to others to come, so I followed through. I recommend that he grow up and take the feedback and improve the service and quality instead. We had the dine-in experience, and a week later; the takeout. I must say that the food for dine-in was quite tasty (however the take out was tasteless). The jerk chicken chow mein was not strong with the jerk flavour but you could taste it. The general tao and chilli chicken did not taste like what it was supposed to but was still good enough. The pholourie balls were huge and pillowy and I like The Tamarind sauce they give with it. As for the dine-in customer service, they were friendly, but for some reason although we were a table of 9 they only kept giving us three or four cups, or three plates or a few napkins. The dine-in service was delivered in styrofoam cups, Styrofoam plates, and packaged plastic forks. Lots of seating available though. However a week later when we had the TAKE-OUT, it was very TASTELESS. I don't know why they phoned it in on takeout of the Hakka food. The hot and sour soup was indeed sour and spicy but there was no other flavour. And even though the bits of chicken is drowned in soup, it still managed to be dry in texture. No egg drop or tofu, but it was full of cabbage (?). We will have to add seasoning and sauces to The Leftovers in order to make it edible. That's never a good sign. *smh I DO NOT recommend take out for the hakka food. I don't know why the quality dropped for takeout but it's not a risk I'm willing to take again. Had some family from out of town and they were craving West Indian food. We reserved a table but were told to sit anywhere in the bar area where there are booths. We joined two tables together which worked well. Service was friendly but slow. Had to ask for plates and cutlery. Items were delivered randomly but taste on most of the items were good. We had doubles, aloo pies, crab corn soup along with the app platter to start. Wings, noodles with lamb (excellent), curry goat and duck was pretty good. Wings were average but the chicken fried rice had a burnt taste. Love that they have the Trinidad orange juice in a can. If you've had it you'll understand. Desert was typical with Paime (steamed cornmeal with spices) as an option. A few very traditional items that very few restaurants offer. Drinks were good but not spectacular. Both currys were great, with lots of flavour and balanced heat. The roti itself had a good stretch. Portions are gigantic. While the roti were great, the doubles were very soggy. My friend, Raj N., has been raving about the food at this place for a while so I invited a couple of other friends to join us for their weekend brunch buffet. It was fairly busy when we arrived around 12:30pm on Sunday. They had a steady line of takeout customers and most of the tables were occupied by diners. The large windows at the front let in a lot of natural light. There was nothing fancy about this place though. Everything was very basic. The buffet tables were set up against the north wall and everything was covered. Handwritten signs described the contents. There were several variations of roti, two kinds of chicken, curry goat, and lots of vegetarian options to choose from. The stew chicken was just okay. The curry chicken was flavourful and the curry goat was my favourite, although it was in dire need of replenishment both times I went to help myself. It was mostly bones left. Too bad. The chick peas with potato was also very good. The saltfish, not bad. I would have liked to have seen some rice or noodles on the menu, and maybe a salad. Another meat? Overall, the food tasted good but the ambiance was lacking. Dinnerware and serviceware were all disposables. No table service. Like I said, nothing fancy about this place. This place is only worth it if you actually get what you ordered and even then it's over priced due to lack of competition nearby. Today I placed an order that in total came up to 70 something dollars. Reached home, the special request that was made twice over the phone order was not honoured. When we called them back they were downright bullies and said the person who took the order said she doesn't "recall" hearing that. Well that sounds like a problem for the person taking the order. They then offered to refund it if we brought their food back Uneaten and now they would have to throw it out. Guess no one told them what owning a food business was like. If it wasn't for my grandparents who had to eat at the time. I would have returned their uneaten food and happily taken my money back but I asked for it to be remade. I will never support this business again and yes perhaps losing one customer means nothing to them now since they have somewhat of a monopoly but nothing lasts forever so be careful when ordering as if you have to bring anything up they act as if you're in court - your word against mine vs this is a restaurant and I served you something you're allergic to/requested to be excluded. My mom placed the order right next to me so I know she repeated it twice. Not only that. People with allergies don't suddenly forget to mention it. I usually order their boneless curry chicken roti and be satisfied with it (again, sometimes its a little bit too salty). The other day, I decided to order their boneless curry goat. It costed $15 for the large portion. I was forewarned by a friend that most businesses cheat you when they say they will serve you boneless curry goat... Drupati's unfortunately lived up to that expectation and is definitely one of them. I know what goat and beef taste like. They mix their boneless goat curry with beef. It was quite sad because the dish was not that bad.... However, what put me off is the DISHONESTY. LYING to your customers. Being DECEITFUL. Being FRAUDULENT. Maybe just put.. Drupati's is a local favourite and it's been a long while since I had some roti. I was in the area so I decided to pop in, hoping to quell my yearnings. Short of being a hole in the wall, the Scarborough location can definitely use some renovating. The interior is outdated, hopefully their roti's won't be... I ordered a boneless goat roti, a boneless chicken roti, and a jerk chicken plate. The roti. Traditional lined with sweet potato and chick peas, it's pretty tough to go wrong. 3 stars. Boneless Chicken. This was a bit dry despite the channa that accompanied it. It was chicken breast, so it was tender, but probably a bit overdone. 2,5 stars. Boneless Goat. The same channa as the Chicken roti, this too was a bit on the dry side. Again tender, but probably overdone. 2,5 stars. Channa. This is a curry based sauce with chickpeas. I'm not sure if they're catering to the area, but it lacked in flavour big time. The ratio of chickpeas to sauce was also a bit heavy on the pea side. Indian (and Trinidad-Indian) foods are all about the sauce. Sadly this one not only missed the mark, it missed the target, and the wall the target was mounted on. 1 star. Jerk Chicken. Finally something with a bit of heat and a little true to it's flavours. I truly wasn't hear for Jerk, but thought I'd give it a try anways. The plate was accompanied with the traditional rice and peas. There was a good ratio of peas to rice, but was nothing spectacular. 2,5 stars. The Jerk Chicken fared a little better than expected, but it doesn't rival the late night fare in Oakwood. 3 stars. Overall, I was a disappointed in Drupati's. But despite my opinion, it's a local's favourite, so it must be my taste's that in the minority. I heard about Drupatis from multiple sources and was excited to go but they were a severe let down. The only reason they even get any stars was because the doubles were good. However, they took nearly an hour to bring one serving of jerk chicken and it wasn't worth the wait at all. Lucky Lins has better jerk chicken and are quicker service. And to top it all off I got charged TWICE for this meal and ended up paying $27 for two doubles and some sub par jerk chicken. Not worth the hype. Go to Monas or somewhere else instead. read more

I have been coming here for 10+yrs and never had any issues . but i called today for 2 sada roti and a few other things when i got my order i was smelling raw flour but just taught its from the roti n the bag coming from the kitchen but when i got home and serve my kids the sada roti it was under cook and raw . so i called them right away only to be told the person that made it said it was cooked properly. i told the girl on the phone if the roti was cook proper i wound not waste my time to call to complaint and i ask to speak to the manager and he just said come back and they will make me 2 other ones. so i took the uncook ones and drove 10 mins to get there , once there the girl at the front didnt offer any apologies or anything just called out and punch in the order a another lady came from the back took the uncooked ones and went into the back she told me it will be about 5-7 mins , after another lady came out and said thats how the roti should be i said sada roti needs to raise up all around and cook all over 5-7mins they came out with the 2 newly cooked sada roti and said this is how it is the ends still raw ..i said if thats how is it can i get 2 oil roti instead they said oh we already made these ones. never offer any apologies or anything else just say next time check my order before i leave. Would you rather be known for terrible food or terrible service? It's a trick question because you probably would rather not be known by any means of terribleness. I used to think that service never mattered. I used to think that the only through and through *thing* was food itself. I can't believe I spent the last 24 years of my life with this ideology because that is absolutely ridiculous. Service is probably more important than food. Drupati's Doubles and Roti Shop serves one of the *BEST* jerk chickens, and I've eaten a lot of jerk chickens. They have this beautiful red sauce that brings me to tears almost every time. They add watercress on top of their chickens! Their rice and beans are always cooked perfectly and their chicken is never dry. I don't know what kind of rub they use, but I'm conceptually drooling thinking about it. Hell, I even converted a non jerk chicken eater to a jerk chicken eater through this restaurant. I work nearby so I used to come here at least twice a month. But I began noticing that their service was just so terrible. I would call early, the lady (quite rudely) would just randomly set a time for me to come pick up. I would come around that time, and still have to wait an hour ON TOP of the original time. I had enough. This happened probably 5 times and I forgave her every time. I waited up to 2 hours once for a plate of jerk chicken. My friend told me enough was enough. I am so sad though, because sometimes I want to forgive them and just come here again, but I'm not going to that. It's like a bad breakup or something because I still want the jerk chicken all the time. Give me another 3 years to recover from my bitterness. read more

We did get there around lunch time so it was busy so it did take a while to receive the food. I wish I could say that it was worth the way...but in my humble opinion, it wasn't. My boyfriend and I went there this evening. We just moved into the area and have heard great things about drupati s food. My bf got the curry goat bone in with rice and I got the boneless chicken roti which came to $19. The roti was totally worth the $8.99 however the curry goat was dismal. There were literally 3 pieces of meat and the rest was bone and fat with a ton of rice and salad. Unfortunately I only checked the food when I got home and did not want to go back to complain. Very disappointing because he was really looking forward to it. The flavor of the curry was good but where's the meat??? For 9.99 it was a rip off so I don't recommend it. Should you choose to get it make sure to check your order before you leave. The place seems clean and like a regular west indian joint.
