Came to DBG after hearing they have a $700 burger. Just to see if anyone is really ordering it. I don't have that kind of money. I went for Happy Hour and had a smash burger. A smash burger is not my preferred burger, but it was the best smash burger I've had, as it was actually juicy despite being so thin. Plus, it is a great value for Happy Hour. The Cheesesteak eggrolls were very good. I almost ordered a second plate. The cheese fries are excellent as well. The drinks were just average, though. It was also Center City Sips, and a DJ was playing good music. I don't know that u get that music on a normal night. I will find out when I go back to sample other burgers from their menu, just not the $700 one. I do want to see someone else eat it and get their review. read more

Opa was always that place that I just kind passed by on my way to Time or McGillin's or Bar, or Graffiti Bar, or anywhere but Opa because I was never really in the mood for Greek food with a side of club music on a Saturday night. And for a while DBG took over that spot, literally and figuratively for me. But you know what DBG? You a bag of alright. I stopped in here with a friend for dinner after every other spot within a block radius (and that's a lotta spots) had a 45-60 minute wait. We were hungry. DBG got the job done. We basically threw darts at the menu (which somehow was still a lotta Greek food) and were happy with the shrimp and rice pilaf, the very good chicken sandwich, and fries with aioli. As we're eating, we notice tables being cleared out to the side and realize that the place is still mostly empty at 8:30pm because it's Saturday, and apparently what people come here for (I'm 37 I don't know these things anymore) is to bounce. The DJ starts playing midway through our dinner, which because of the company I keep was completely fine with us. We got up during some kinda salsa remix and did that for a while, and then finished our food. Fun times. Random thought: this place is decorated the way a theme park in some other country would decorate their "America Town" section. You got random record album covers, a big portrait of Ben Franklin from a hundo bill, there were Christmas lights up (which, yeah, it's holiday season) and all of it came together in a way where the only thing missing was guns. But you know, it's Philly, I'm pretty sure someone in there was packing - so, America Town! read more

This used to be one of our favorite Mediterranean restaurants and bar to visit, after a series of shutdowns these guys are back with a bang! With a new menu, outdoor seating and revamped indoor space; this beer garden is here to stay and entertain us during the COVID era. We went here for drinks before our reservations for dinner and we were ushered through the back door to the open air back patio. The menus are uniquely touch less and are available on your phone once you scan the QR code posted near each table. We ordered their famous drink "it's all about the Benjamin's" which comes with an edible $100 bill. Extremely delicious drink ! We will definitely will be back for more ! read more

Made a reservation on open table and turned up not knowing the crazy drunk St. Paddy's crowd was out and about. I was told that reservation weren't valid and I was to get in line. I asked what was the point of a reservation??!!! Doorman said he didn't care. So we left to find another place to eat. Great place to come to for a low key night with a group of friends! The outdoor patio has picnic tables and an outdoor bar. The janga on the table is definitely a plus. My first time here on a Sunday for happy hour. We thought it was cool they have the cheapest burger in the city and the most expensive at $700. Lol ‍ the happy hour for one is the best from 4 to 7pm Wed to Sunday the longest I've found in the city. Service was spectacular shout out to Hillary for all the recommendations we ate almost everything off the happy hour menu amazing deals DELICIOUS and I mean DELICIOUS happy hour finger foods. The ambiance is everything such a vibe and they have outdoor seating area that's gorgeous. We literally found a gem and are so glad. We'll be back with more friends from now on our go to spot. Wings amazing, drinks perfect and strong, delicious burger for 3 bucks hit the spot, cheese fries were everything, cheese steak egg rolls . We were very impressed compared to other happy hours we have been to for years. Hope the menu doesn't change much or the cooks. The server was excellent. But why No branding in the Restaurant?? K Forgot Where I was after I stepped into the establishment. The atmosphere is ehh . The female host and female Bartender chatting more than working. Food was ok ehhh burgers were Wendy's comparable but the burgers comes with fries at Wendy's !! I Enjoyed the additional side order of frie$ with the amazing spicy dipping sauce . But overall I am not impressed and don't see this restaurant surviving in Nader these conditions. Drury Beer Garden has been a little oasis as we begin to move into these fall months. It has been a great spot to meet friends in a safe manner, while enjoying delicious drinks and good snacks. I appreciate that DBG located behind the restaurants as opposed to in the street - a lot more relaxed and serene back there. Some of my favorite drinks include the frosé (but hello brain freeze!) and the Ginning From Ear to Ear for a refresher! Of course, you have to order food with your drinks. I've split both the mozzarella Jawns and the pretzel with friends. It's your typical bar food, but the pretzel did taste a lot like Auntie Anne's and I didn't complain. I will continue returning here as the weather remains nice to enjoy good times with good friends! read more

Came to this place last night for the second time as an attempt to enjoy this warmer weather with the wind in my hair and a drink in my hand. My colleagues and I met up at this place bc of their "beer garden" which is really just a roofed back yard space with transparent plastic walls. Heat lamp carcass was present in the periphery. The happy hour menu is good. They had 2 cocktails: berry margarita and mango tango as well as a shitload of beer choices, like almost an entire menu page full. There's also a good food menu. A friend of mine got the gyro which she said was amazing. I was starving to death so I sampled the spinach croquettes which are breaded balls of spinach with feta in an elongated ball shape with some dipping sauce that was also amazing. To drink, I started off with the mango tango which was sweet but just the way I like it. I went with a vodka soda for #diet2018 reasons while I was still sober enough to care and then peer pressured into ordering a berry margarita. Omggg let me just say the drinks were so fucking strong that 1 or 2 each was enough to turn basically my entire group into a sloppy mess. I actually feel like I should be texting some people rn just to ensure they're alright after that shit last night. I was still starving so I later ordered the meatball pizza without the meatballs with cheese, garlic, olives, and peppers on a pita. This could be the alcohol hijacking my taste buds but that shit was DELISH. Like way better than I was expecting in a backyard beer garden behind a Greek restaurant. The pita texture was nice and soft, garlic added an amazing flavor and that fucking cheese was gooey and amazing. Happy hour food menu has a bunch of other things, much better variety than I'm used to with like 4 items. I'd recommend this place if you don't mind getting your shoes a little dirty. read more

Just so much wow about this spot! You'd really never know it was there unless you're just really curious and want to know where the adorable string lights lead. It's one of Philly's best kept secrets...YOU'RE WELCOME! Drury offers a great selection of food and beverages. I was especially impressed with their tap list as I'd consider myself a bit of a beer snob (lol). We also ordered the fries to munch on which came with the most delicious special sauce. Last night the bouncer became verbally and physically abusive to my friends and I. We were walking by, not trying to go in, and he yelled that we needed to show proof of vaccination to get in and that "basic white girls can't get in". We kept walking by and then passed again later on and the same bouncer was sitting outside. He was yelling at us for proof of vaccination for just walking on the sidewalk. So my friend pulled her card out and showed him then he proceeded to smack her hand and card away from him. I told him not to touch her like that then he pushed me to the ground. Management was then called out and had a similar attitude as the bouncer. I would not try to go to this bar ever again after this horrible and scarring experience. read more

It's a great place to hang for a drink! My friends and I had a great time there after dinner. We danced when there was a DJ on a Saturday night. But then outside, the bouncer made it a point to tell us we weren't welcome back in per the owner. This made no sense. Good selection! I've been a handful of times and on 2-3 occasions after walking through Opa and out back have secured a spot to be told that they are closing for a "private event". While I know things happen it would be great if the host upfront shared this or maybe even a sign can be posted as a warning. I've seen such at other bars and it's such a small but great way to ensure a pleasurable experience. Like other reviews mentioned, not much of a view here! I was a fan of my initial experience at Drury, a spot my girlfriend found and we got to check out on a Sunday afternoon after seeing a show around the corner. The roofed backyard area is comfortable and has space, with a cool and casual vibe. The bartender was excellent and the music was on point. Solid beer list, and my girl enjoyed her margarita. It's been said that 2014 is the year of the Beer Garden here in Philadelphia. And while some are newcomers to the scene, popping up for the summer or even less, Drury Beer Garden has been around for a while. The folks at Drury know what works, and they've mastered the art of outdoor drinking for the masses. Sure, on a nice night, you may be sharing the space with your friends and about 60 "friends you haven't met yet". You might need to get a little aggressive at the bar, but everyone understands throwing a few 'bows in order to get your day-drink on... Cans, bottles, and draft beers are my preference. I know they have some sangria options, but a few too many episodes of "Bar Rescue" have me wary of boozy beverages that are left in plastic containers all day. Luckily, I found easy distraction from remembering the wise words of Jon Taffer in their gyro, chock-full of juicy meat and fresh vegetables. The pita was soft as a cloud, and I couldn't get enough. Jenga (I mean... jumbling tower, Jenga's questionable little brother) is available at an assortment of tables, and there are retractable umbrellas for when the sun is burning too brightly. The bartenders move quick, so don't let the lines turn you off. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere can't be beat, and as long as the weather cooperates, I'll be hitting up Drury all season long. read more

Per other reviewers, there's Jenga but I've never stayed here past 9 so maybe they bring it out later? Or you need to request it? In a city full of beer gardens, Drury Beer Garden isn't the most aesthetically pleasing of the bunch. It sits behind Opa with a gorgeous view of a fence and some dilapidated looking high-rises. Once you get past the looks, it's a pretty chill spot. My group stopped by there recently after Sips ended. At first glance we thought it was just going to be Sips crowds all over again. Then we found a large, round cushion seat towards the west end of the bar and got comfy. We had a decent amount of space to ourselves and a place to sit down. That's good by me. The beer list wasn't overly impressive with rarities, but they got overall variety covered. There's definitely something for everyone. The prices were also pretty reasonable. Most drafts and bottles ran about $5 or $6. I didn't have anything to eat, but noticed the menu was more of a grill-out style food. That's a little disappointing considering Mediterranean cuisine is so close. I wonder if there's any flexibility with ordering from Opa? In any case, I don't see Drury Beer as a destination beer garden but definitely as a cool place to stop by for an outdoor drink. read more

My friend took me to Drury beer garden for my first time last year, and I keep coming back now all the time! Nothing better than drinking outside in the nice weather, with fun games! Jenga, connect four, ping pong, yes! Good selection of craft beers for a tiny outside bar that can't make many drinks. They always have good prices on a few select beers. They make a beer mixed drink that's like a mojito but with beer in it, refreshing! They also have sangria sometimes. Its hard to find this place, which is another thing I love about it! Its tiny, tucked back in a smelly dumpster alley next to McGillians. Awesome. Its attached to the back of Opa, if you'd rather seek it out that way. However, I heard a rumor they are expanding, and remodeling, so I'm nervous it will double in size and become more popular. Hopefully they keep the same cool vibe if that is true. Stopped by for a few beers during the afternoon. It is a small courtyard but has some charm to it. For beer I had the Blanche De Bruxelles (can), I like that beer. I usually don't like beers-in-a-can but lately it has been my thing. We snacked on a Hummus and Eggplant platter with Pita and vegetables, it was very good. We also had the Grilled Octopus, that was fantastic! The bartender was chill. The prices were reasonable. We will return to the Drury Beer Garden. read more

This beer garden is the backyard of Opa restaurant (shares the same restrooms). When we arrived, I was surprised by how small and cramped it was. It was extremely crowded we had to nudge our way to the bar. There weren't many benches because this place was really that small. Beer here isn't expensive, which is always a plus. Once you settle down and take some time to soak in the location and decors, it's actually quite unique. It's conveniently located in the back alley of some tall buildings so the atmosphere is different. They also decorated the place with hanging lights to give it a more homely and uplifting feel. This is definitely a spot to start the night with some loud conversations while knocking back a few beers, but probably not the place to end the night. Probably not my choice of beer gardens in the city. Independence offers more game variety, and Frankford Hall is still king. read more

Drury is a quaint little hideaway in Philly's pride area. We entered through Opa (you can also come through a Spider-Man alley. You can get some craft or tap beers and enjoy chairs made from milk crates and tables made from construction spools for wire. So I did not take the normal route to this bar (which would just be to go through Opa) and instead walked down a narrow, dark, and wet alleyway. But my initial apprehensions melted away when I got inside. First of all, the place has Jenga and ping pong, which made the childish side of me very gleeful. Plus, there is this great retro boombox set up that plays all of the music (which was surprisingly loud). There are big comfy chairs and picnic tables to sit at, although these were packed by the time I rolled in. Getting a beer at the bar wasn't too difficult (given the crowd and the noise), and they had a decent craft list as well, although much of it was bottled. I loved the atmosphere here and can't wait to return, even if it was packed to the gills so that you couldn't move (and apparently you can't sit on the ping pong table, fyi. Love this place! It is a good spot to grab a drink and enjoy the nice weather. It's hidden, so keep your eyes opened when en route. Located behind Opa down the McGillin's alley on Drury. There's enough outdoor seating for large groups (on weeknights after work...it does get pretty packed on the weekends), fire pits, board games, and a vast beer selection. They do have a limited food selection for reasonably priced, we only got the fries and they were delicious especially because we were drunk when eating them. Guys, guys, guys--- I think I have a beer garden at my house. It has a patio space with tables and chairs, it has lights strung around, we have jenga (not yet tattooed with all the phone numbers of guys who have large "members") and we definitely drink beer out there. The only difference is that if you come over my place, the beers are free.* So maybe that's why I like this place. It feels like someone's patio. Mine. Except I don't have to clean up after anybody. And you can ask them to turn down the music blasting from the boombox when it's Tuesday night and it's only you and your other alcoholic friends there and they'll be super nice and do it. The beers aren't crazy expensive. They take your credit card instead of just cash. And they literally served the best chicken tenders I've had in a LONG time. They're really chicken breasts and they've got this magical fried honey bbq coating that was great. It's a nice little spot but there are other beer gardens that trump this space.
