Cute intimate spot with outdoor seating. Their pizza was crispy and thin. Definitely different from other tavern pizzas. The steak was a little overcooked (for medium rare) and felt like it was pulled meat.

Upscale Atmosphere, Chill Vibe. I went here to try the thin crust tavern style pizza. Walking in it is a clean, fun, and well decorated place with low light. The open kitchen balances the vibes making it seem lively and open. The server was friendly and we were seated quickly, I ordered the cheese + cheese and my partner the watermelon and feta salad. Both were fresh and delicious, the pizza was nice and crisp as expected with high quality ingredients, as was the salad. I also enjoyed a fun mixed drink prepared at the bar which was great. To finish off the dinner we had the watermelon sorbet, complimented with a rosemary sugar cookie. It was an interesting and delicious combination! Overall it was a great experience and I look forward to trying another item next time.

Now that we have two college students, I guess you'll be seeing more happy hour posts here. (So this post is based solely on my happy hour experience.) Finally checked out Darling Jack's Tavern. Great atmosphere and an even better happy hour. The host and server were kind and helpful. I enjoyed my old fashioned. Food was good. My friend and I were surprisingly full. I'll definitely be back!

This is a nice tavern style restaurant right in the heart of downtown Philly. It is sandwiched in-between a few other restaurants and with little signage, I had to look around a little to see where the front door was. Inside there is an expansive bar along with 2 smaller bar areas in front of a large dining room on the side. Lots of dark wood interior and a nice decor. Some booths and tables inside, and a few tables outside. Their Happy Hour takes place during the weekdays at both the inside bar and outside tables. We sat at the inside bar and ordered some drinks. They were quite pricey for the small pours and the sugary additives. Better to drink beer or wine here. The Happy Hour food was very good. We started with the Deviled Eggs and the Croquettas. Definitely a good choice on taste and freshness. At the table we ordered a Pizza with Mushrooms, Garlic, and Pepperoni. It was cut into squares and was cooked perfect. The

Stopped in here for lunch and first thing you notice is it's designed like a classy old school bar/Restaurant which I think is pretty cool. I was seated immediately in a small booth. I decided to order the tavern brisket dip and beer. The sandwich part wasn't bad although the dip could have been confused with water with some oil because it had no flavor at all and added nothing to the dish. The french fries were made just how I personally like em with some crunch and low/medium salt level. I gave this place three stars but it's more like 3.5 mainly because well it's a nice place it's not doing anything at least with the lunch that almost every other place in the gayborhood part of Philadelphia doesn't do slightly better since there's a ton of restaurants and bars in this area. But if you happen to be near go to it because it's not a bad experience it's just ok

We are in Philly on vacation and came here for dinner. Delicious food, attentive service, and great tavern vibe. Everything we ordered turned out very well, reasonably priced and adequate portion size. If we had to pick a favorite, it would be the smoked pork chop. Highly recommend this place if you are in the Philly convention center area.

The dessert special: raspberry pistachio crumble with buttermilk ice cream. Forgot to take photos of the entrée.

Pretty good! Visiting fab Philly for a conference downtown, my fellow Elite Yelper and I both came upon Darling Jack's in our search. A third friend suggested a nearby chain, but why forego local flavor and vibes for a cardboard cutout thats available anywhere? It was a late meal so we shared an appetizer and entree: charred broccoli + steak frites. Taking one for the team, I conceded to a medium well cook. And it was still good! I almost always have broccolini instead of broccoli, so was caught off guard by the bright green florets when it arrived to the table. But also very good! The pickled fennel was a delight, and I would have liked even more. We ordered the dessert special of the day, which was some sort of raspberry crumble with crushed pistachios and buttermilk ice cream. It was interesting. Different, for sure. I didnt NOT like it, but the ice crram was the best part. Our server was cool and he was hustling, mostly solo I think. Good pick overall.

Darling Jack's is a great Center City spot that hits the sweet spot between neighborhood tavern and upscale casual dining. The vibe is lively, the bar seating is excellent, and it's an easy place to settle in for a relaxed night out. The long hots pizza was the standout, perfectly crispy crust with great flavor, just the right heat from the peppers, and balanced toppings that make it hard to stop eating. Definitely a must order. Service was fantastic throughout, friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. And honestly, happy hour here is a must stop if you're nearby, great energy, solid deals, and a perfect place to start (or end) your night in Philly. A very solid 4 star spot I'd happily come back to. Don't forget the blood orange margarita! Delicious.

Really loved dinner and this cozy bistro style spot! We got the whipped ricotta and calamari for appetizers and then I ordered the duck ragu pasta and my husband ordered the steak frites. The apps were good but the duck ragu main course was the stand out- It was light and refreshing with plenty of duck sausage and ragu sauce- delicious! Service was really good as well. We loved it so much that we will likely be back and sit at the bar and eat (seemed like a fun vibe with the bartenders). Definitely check this spot out!

    Delicious dessert!

Great place! The food, drinks and service were really good. The bartenders and the cooks know what they are doing. Really good place for a date or meet friends for dinner and drinks. We had the wedge salad and the steak and frites, absolutely delicious! The dessert was great, and the bartender brought us a candle because we mentioned that we were celebrating my birthday. Highly Recommend! Must try when visiting the area.

This is my favorite brunch spot at center city. La Colombe coffee is definitely a perk to eat here. My usual is the ancient grain salad with salmon. Everything in it is very healthy: broccoli, kale, chickpeas, and avocado. The French fries are light and not soggy.

The pizza is yummy! I love how they cut them into small squares. Definitely a happy hour go-to. The burger is so tasty. I've gotten it twice and have no pictures of them . The bread pudding is oh so delicious. I highly recommend. The service isn't horrible but wasn't super amazing. The hostess is pleasant and was able to get us happy hour seating at a booth. I love dimly lit places. It gives a speakeasy vibe! I hadn't realized that they have more space on the other side of the wall. It's very cute and jazzy!

Warm and welcoming bar with a dining area as well. There are some small 2 person booths built into the wall in front of the bar which are great to sit at if you want a lively atmosphere but not sitting at the bar. Stopped in for happy hour and tried the whipped ricotta with beets, croquettes, and deviled eggs. Also tried the blood orange margarita which was a huge drink! Ricotta and toast were nice, the beets added a unique twist. Croquettes were dense and rich on top of a creamy sauce. Deviled eggs were good as well. Great happy hour, need to come back and try the pizza next time. Thanks

fun spot for drinks & tapas!…read more i don't usually like chains, but i can appreciate barcelona wine bar for its good vibes! if it was closer, i could definitely see myself here more with the girls in the summer. i came here with some friends before a noah kahan show due to its proximity to the BSL, and it was a good time! my favorite dish we had was the patatas bravas -- they were so good that i put in a second order. i can appreciate a good charcuterie board, but the other tapas we had weren't very memorable. i wanted to try the paella here, but ended up passing since our waiter told us that they take a while to prepare. in retrospect, i'm glad i didn't order the paella, the table next to us got one and it did not look very impressive. i wouldn't say the food here is particularly memorable (other than the patatas bravas lol), but i think you come for the vibes. my friend said that service is notably good as well, though it was a bit slow when we were there. we probably wouldn't have minded the slow service if we didn't have a concert to catch. overall, a solid spot!

The basil puree was light but flavorful. The trout was soft, easy to cut, could eat a whole thing myself Chicken thigh (Aji Verde) $10.5 - a little difficult to cut but not bad. Wouldn't mind ordering again but would likely try something else since there's so many options Moruno lamb loin (Asparagus Purée) $14.5 - least favorite. Difficult to cut. A little oily Spiced beef empanadas (Red Pepper Sauce) $8.5 - a little spice, soft, not greasy. Red pepper sauce was the best part of this. Would get again Albondigas (Spiced Meatballs in Jamón-Tomato Sauce) $9.5 - soft, sauce good to dip in the bread One of the managers stopped by our table to check how everything was. We appreciate that he came down to our eye level to talk to us. Little things like that makes a big difference.

I love the fact that they kept the original signage from the bar that was here before. The inside is full of character and charm. They have a huge vinyl collection and only play vinyl while you sip and enjoy. This particular day, a few folks were working remote from the cafe tables. We were on vacation and decided to drink some wine. The bartender was so friendly and allowed us to try a few really unique selections. They had natural wine from Uruguay, South Africa, and plenty of other places. The South African wines were probably some of my favorite -- sooo unique and like nothing I've tried before. They also have a small bottle shop where you can make purchases for takeaway, which we ended up doing ourselves. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend this spot to anyone who's a fan of coffee, natural wine, or vinyl!
