Stopped in here for lunch and first thing you notice is it's designed like a classy old school bar/Restaurant which I think is pretty cool. I was seated immediately in a small booth. I decided to order the tavern brisket dip and beer. The sandwich part wasn't bad although the dip could have been confused with water with some oil because it had no flavor at all and added nothing to the dish. The french fries were made just how I personally like em with some crunch and low/medium salt level. I gave this place three stars but it's more like 3.5 mainly because well it's a nice place it's not doing anything at least with the lunch that almost every other place in the gayborhood part of Philadelphia doesn't do slightly better since there's a ton of restaurants and bars in this area. But if you happen to be near go to it because it's not a bad experience it's just ok

This is a nice tavern style restaurant right in the heart of downtown Philly. It is sandwiched in-between a few other restaurants and with little signage, I had to look around a little to see where the front door was. Inside there is an expansive bar along with 2 smaller bar areas in front of a large dining room on the side. Lots of dark wood interior and a nice decor. Some booths and tables inside, and a few tables outside. Their Happy Hour takes place during the weekdays at both the inside bar and outside tables. We sat at the inside bar and ordered some drinks. They were quite pricey for the small pours and the sugary additives. Better to drink beer or wine here. The Happy Hour food was very good. We started with the Deviled Eggs and the Croquettas. Definitely a good choice on taste and freshness. At the table we ordered a Pizza with Mushrooms, Garlic, and Pepperoni. It was cut into squares and was cooked perfect. The

Really loved dinner and this cozy bistro style spot! We got the whipped ricotta and calamari for appetizers and then I ordered the duck ragu pasta and my husband ordered the steak frites. The apps were good but the duck ragu main course was the stand out- It was light and refreshing with plenty of duck sausage and ragu sauce- delicious! Service was really good as well. We loved it so much that we will likely be back and sit at the bar and eat (seemed like a fun vibe with the bartenders). Definitely check this spot out!

Darling Jack's is a great Center City spot that hits the sweet spot between neighborhood tavern and upscale casual dining. The vibe is lively, the bar seating is excellent, and it's an easy place to settle in for a relaxed night out. The long hots pizza was the standout, perfectly crispy crust with great flavor, just the right heat from the peppers, and balanced toppings that make it hard to stop eating. Definitely a must order. Service was fantastic throughout, friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. And honestly, happy hour here is a must stop if you're nearby, great energy, solid deals, and a perfect place to start (or end) your night in Philly. A very solid 4 star spot I'd happily come back to. Don't forget the blood orange margarita! Delicious.

Great place! The food, drinks and service were really good. The bartenders and the cooks know what they are doing. Really good place for a date or meet friends for dinner and drinks. We had the wedge salad and the steak and frites, absolutely delicious! The dessert was great, and the bartender brought us a candle because we mentioned that we were celebrating my birthday. Highly Recommend! Must try when visiting the area.

The place is pretty much bar food at resturaunt price with the exception of the onion soup on happy hour only. Food is mediocre, staff uncaring, and ambiance is just decent enough for a pizza spot

This is my favorite brunch spot at center city. La Colombe coffee is definitely a perk to eat here. My usual is the ancient grain salad with salmon. Everything in it is very healthy: broccoli, kale, chickpeas, and avocado. The French fries are light and not soggy.

The pizza is yummy! I love how they cut them into small squares. Definitely a happy hour go-to. The burger is so tasty. I've gotten it twice and have no pictures of them . The bread pudding is oh so delicious. I highly recommend. The service isn't horrible but wasn't super amazing. The hostess is pleasant and was able to get us happy hour seating at a booth. I love dimly lit places. It gives a speakeasy vibe! I hadn't realized that they have more space on the other side of the wall. It's very cute and jazzy!

I love darling jack's! It's always busy but if you have a reservation they will seat you right away. The French onion soup is my favorite in the city and I also love their pizza. It has a nice dark ambiance. Servers are friendly although sometimes slow during peak hours.

Came here for a late lunch on Memorial Day because other places I wanted to try were closed. Turned out to be a happy accident because Darling Jack's is my kinda joint. The place has a throwback feel with a long marble bar, dark wood accents and red-and-white tile floor. The menu is just as classic with a small but well-curated selection of starters, salads, and entrees you'd expect to find in an elite steakhouse. I chose the iceberg wedge salad and my husband got the wagyu french dip, which were both excellent. Before those arrived, though, we began with the whipped feta and roasted beet starters, each perfectly executed. I also got the "healthy green glow" cocktail -- something like a very fresh, herbal gimlet that made my mouth water. Everything we ordered there was a cut above, full of flavor and plated with flair. Service was quick and professional. If I lived in Philly, I'd make Darling Jack's my steady Eddie.

Warm and welcoming bar with a dining area as well. There are some small 2 person booths built into the wall in front of the bar which are great to sit at if you want a lively atmosphere but not sitting at the bar. Stopped in for happy hour and tried the whipped ricotta with beets, croquettes, and deviled eggs. Also tried the blood orange margarita which was a huge drink! Ricotta and toast were nice, the beets added a unique twist. Croquettes were dense and rich on top of a creamy sauce. Deviled eggs were good as well. Great happy hour, need to come back and try the pizza next time. Thanks

So I'm very particular with burgers I like to have lettuce and tomato and onion in them. This one specifically did not have that, but I was happily to find out that I could add them if I wanted to the reason why I added vegetables to my burger is because I'd like the freshness that it gives the burger I get tired of the burger otherwise, if I don't have any veggies, the server was amazingly kind and I was able to accommodate this request 10 out of 10 experience will definitely recommend. We also had desserts. The bread pudding was OK. The lemon olive oil cake definitely took the winner for us over the bread pudding.

Stopped in for restaurant week for $45 dinner. It was also happy hour so we got to enjoy $8 cocktails which was a bonus. Favorite bites were the steak tartare, clam chowder, and banana pudding. The rest was still yummy just not something I'd be crazy about getting again. I felt it was a good value for the amount of food we had.

I loved how quiet and moody the atmosphere was -- honestly perfect for a date! I had a glass of the Lambrusco, which was crisp and on the dryer side. Their wine list was so great I couldn't choose, so I went with one of their flights - Interesting Whites (Tokaj Furmint, Friuli Grave, and Langhe Arneis). The flight was aptly named; the wines were interesting and delicious - a rare combination of white wines in a flight. They offer a great selection of wines (traditional to natural wines, including some skin contact options), but they also have beer and cocktails for anyone in your party that prefers something other than wine. The bar is beautiful - moody, dark, lots of wood, a long bar, several small tables - it's a perfect little wine bar. And the service was great as well. (I didn't eat on this occasion, but they have a full menu of food, and the food ordered by the table behind me smelled great.) I look forward to returning to try more of their wines!

We braved negative degree weather for the roughly 10 minute walk from our hotel. We walked in at a good time. This is the type of place where a reservation for breakfast would be required. We were sat immediately. The dining area is tight. A green velvet bench, marble tables, metal chairs, all packed into a small area. You could very well have your butt brush over the table of the patrons next to you if you have to get up for any reason. It's tight. Our server was around quickly. He was super friendly and kept things conversational, light and sophisticated. My wife ordered an iced latte, I had their hot drip coffee. For a starter, we had to try the cinnamon knot bread. While it wasn't what we were expecting, it was good. Although, we wouldn't order again. The bread is presented as a small loaf, room temperature with a cold cream cheese icing drizzled over top. The bread had a mild cinnamon flavor and was dry. It lacked the sweet, moist dough you expect from a cinnamon bread. My wife ordered the French style omelet. This had gruyere cheese and chives. Beautifully plated, perfectly cooked and the taste was spot on. It was good enough to forget that she paid $21 for just an omelet, no meat, no sides. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Pretty standard here. The eggs had bright orange yolks which is common for farm fresh eggs. The "coffee" hollandaise didn't come across with a coffee flavor but it was rich and went well with the ham and English muffins. One thing that stuck with me was their drip coffee. Not sure if it has been a while since I had a light roast but the Rival Bros. Revolver coffee was so good, I got a bag of whole beans to bring back home with me. I may even order it again online. Enswell succeeded on all fronts. The ambiance and service was great. The decor, impeccable. The food, thoughtful and tasty. The details from the silverware to the plates added to the experience. We would come back.

The tasting menu had three tiers you could choose from- $35, $45, and $55/person. We chose the $55/person option which included the full menu of tapas as well as dessert. They pick the most popular dishes to bring out to the table but also allow you to request any specifically that you'd like. By the end of night, we had a TON of food, even more than we could finish, and ended up trying at least 15 different dishes. All the food was great, with some of my favorites being the eggplant caponata (cold, very flavorful), scallops a la plancha, jamon & manchego croquetas, spiced beef empanadas, and the paellas. Favorite dessert was the chocolate cake, but we were received all the desserts other than the ice cream and sorbet. I may have liked the food experience less if I had ordered off the regular menu and only tried a few small plate, but I loved the option of trying so many dishes. By the time we finished everything, we had been there for over 3 hours (including lots of wine of course), which was really fun! The place gets packed on a Saturday night so we would not have gotten in without a reservation.

Ended up here by accident because I was window shopping with my 3 year old and he suddenly shouted…read more"I need to potty"...most establishments do not have restrooms available to the public so I figured our best bet was a restaurant and popped in here. The staff were immediately sympathetic, super friendly and helpful. Of course, as if I wasn't embarrassed enough, as soon as the 3 year old washed his hands, he shouted "I'm hungry" (is this sort of human I'm raising?). We were already in a restaurant so why not. Before being seated or looking at the menu, I asked for some fries to be put in and the waitress offered some chicken tenders. After finally looking over the menu, I don't think these are regular offerings so I appreciated them trying to be accommodating to a frazzled parent at dinner time. My vegan mother in law joined us and we were pleased that there were so many options for her. My absolute favourite (such that I had to order another round) was the eggplant caponata - perfectly sweet with a little bit of spice. It was so warm and comforting - exactly what I want at the end of a long cold day. My MIL's fav were the Brussels sprouts - they had a tang reminiscent of buffalo sauce and were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, textured heaven (extra bonus points for the 3 year old absolutely LOVING them - he redeemed himself). If you like hummus, try the spinach and chick pea cazuela. Squash is in season so I knew it was going to be delightful - the pomegranate was a combination that was new to me, but it didn't disappoint. We didn't try the roasted carrots (because my household is all carroted out for the moment) but someone one table over was gushing over them. As a meat eater, I have to say that the non meat tapas were standouts - I tried the empanadas, they were fine; I didn't enjoy the meatballs and I just wanted to order more of the eggplant caponata. All in all, I would definitely come back, maybe for drinks with friends or date night. The drink list looked inviting and nothing says intimacy like mood lighting and shared plates. The price (without alcohol) was very approachable - for $80 a vegan, a 3 year old and a frazzled mom left satiated.
