There are no stars for the Psychiatric health from Dryden-Edwards entire staff. Unfriendly, obnoxious, bullying, revolving door, dirty, small tight waiting room, unprofessional staff and unethical psychiatrist and PA-C. I have never been mistreated when in severe distress. I was told to leave bc I displayed inappropriate behavior. My once PA-C could not recognize my distress. The bad behavior was telling a manager who instigated an argument with me (distressed client) "I do not give a shit who you are". I wanted to speak with my once PA-C - Charlene Morgan but was told that I could not and was asked to leave bc I was no longer her client. Extremely unethical and unprofessional. Charlene Morgan went along with a 5 minute assessment of managers summary of events and she asked me to leave. I wonder if they know they work at a mental health facility. I would never refer this facility to anyone. read more

Went here for about 6 years and had a decent relationship with my psychiatrist. She was fine, friendly and professional. I always had a weird vibe about office management, and had issues early on with them. I made a point to schedule reminders in my phone after I scheduled an appointment because I did miss one once. I was billed about $100 for the appointment I missed and I paid as it was my fault. Five years went by and I didn't have any other issues. Then I scheduled an appointment around the holidays, which is a busy time of year for me. There was a snafu at the office regarding my doctors availability so they moved my appointment and claim to have left me a voicemail about it. I showed up the day of my appointment and was informed it was not for another 3 hours. I have two toddlers who I had to pickup from daycare and was in the midst of the busiest time of the year at work. I told the receptionist I couldn't wait that long and had to pick up my children. The office called while I was in route to get the kids and left another voicemail asking if I could do the appointment via phone. I can't, I have toddlers to care for. My doctor called to check in the following day and left a voicemail. I responded to her that I was doing ok and that I would call back to reschedule soon. This was Christmas week and I had in-laws staying at my house for the next two weeks. Around New Years I got a bill for this "missed appointment." $140. At that point I called and explained, they said they'd get back to me. No response. Here we are under quarantine, I'm at home with no daycare, my wife is working two jobs and I'm working mine and we're trying to juggle all of that with caring for our two young children. We are mentally drained--and Dryden-Edwards and associates is constantly calling and threatening to take me to collections over this. Pathetic. I paid the bill to make it go away and they called me a week later STILL THREATENING COLLECTIONS. This office is ruthlessly incompetent and has terrible customer service. To pressure a patient under these circumstances to pay a fee which was issued out of their own incompetence...I just don't dont have the words. Stay far, far away and find a psychiatrist who hires employees that understand how to treat their patients with dignity and respect and not like rubes to be shaken down for every last nickel. read more

The office staff was so horrendous that I will not even be attempting to make an appointment here. Ashley, the "office manager" does not care in the slightest about potential patients and how they are treated while attempting to make appointments. Not only that, our phone conversation was put on speaker phone so that she "had witnesses" which in my opinion is totally unprofessional. Dr. Dryden-Edwards is a warm, compassionate psychiatrist. She truly cares about her patients. Her practice group includes therapists so you can obtain pharmaceutical medical management and talk therapy at the same site. Dr. Dryden-Edwards treats all ages. I know that she has a tender heart for troubled teenagers. She accepts most insurance plans and will take new patients. Her business office is professional with billing and scheduling appointments. The office is conveniently located and there is plenty of parking. Dr. Dryden-Edwards maintains the highest ethical standards and strictly protects doctor-patient confidentiality. If she perceives any possible conflict of interest, she will thoroughly explore and resolve the issue with you. read more

I was a patient here since 2011, My original Psychiatrist left before COVID and I was stuck with Dr. Edwards. Omg my anxiety and depression was at an all time low but this person showed no patience or a caring spirit which Dr. Okezie had always shown me. I should have ran after our first session as it was clear that her purpose was to experiment with various drugs, and due to my fear to add another prescription ( I'm seemingly addicted to one already) she sent me a letter refusing further service with a list of Doctors who are located more than an hour away. I am thankful that she's no longer my Dr. but just getting rid of patients with Mental Health concerns because I decide which pill I'm open to taking? Dr Edwards is Very impatient and cold, but eager to write a new script... It's sad that one finally finds the strength to get help and the HELPER refuses to be Helpful. Good Riddance... Personally had no problem getting appointments or any issues with wait times. Unfortunately, I find Dr. young to be a judgmental, uncaring, and cold therapist. In almost 6 months of sessions, I simply talked to fill the hour-long session, with no helpful feedback, technique, or tools given to me by Dr. Young. Only the frequent condescending remark or judgment. The best part was when I simply stopped going and made no follow-up appointments, and did not hear from Dr. Young in any way to inquire about my personal mental health or the reasons for halting my treatment with her. I have spoken to many individuals who agreed that cessation of treatment without discussing with the doctor would almost always result in said Dr. following up. She simply didn't care or notice. If you want to hear yourself talk for an hour, and feel kind of bad afterward, this is the place. Otherwise I'd go elsewhere. read more

I am taking time out of my day to make sure that anyone with a teen who is considering this place - and Faith Nguyen, the NP in particular - AVOIDS IT. I can't comment on other staff, but Faith has zero idea how to speak to teenagers (or their parents). Every conversation was awkward and my daughter felt attacked. Faith asked her "Do you ever feel like stabbing yourself with a knife all over your body," commented on her appearance ("you look exhausted") and tried to force her to tell jokes over Zoom. When I asked Faith direct questions, she talked over me and/or in circles. She could not explain her medical decisions (not that she tried very hard) and when I emailed her with specific questions about my daughter's mental health, I never heard back. Never again. When it comes to the doctors, I had no problems. But the rest of the staff was RUDE! Look if you're going to be working with people that have possible mental illnesses being rude on the phone can trigger them. I am saying all of this with a straight face and calm tone. So, I am not saying this in a rage filled way. I am saying it in a strict way. That being said: Get over yourself and show some kindness. Being rude is not only unprofessional but it can also can make people think it's their fault for asking for help. I need my meds to even be a proper human being and one of my meds is controlled so I need them to refill it every month. It was a FIGHT EVERY TIME I NEEDED my meds. EVERY TIME!!! I had panic attacks because of this. To the doctors working there, LEAVE! You can do better. You don't want to be part of a place that is part of the reason Maryland state is one of the worst states to live in if you are mentally ill. Dryden ether change or end up shut down. They are not very helpful, hard to contact and if you are on medication they try to sell you on the meds their reps are selling and now what is best/most affordable for you. I took my teen here for over a year. We never once saw an actual psychiatrist, only a PA who just gave my child a survey each month and then offered medications After trying at least 5 different meds (at different times) nothing was helping whatsoever. We first received ADD meds, then depression meds, then bi-polar meds.... there was never an actual diagnosis for what the issue was, just a hit or miss attempt at hoping a medication would stick. My child never showed any signs of improvement. So eventually we stopped going. They did not call ONCE to see if my child was ok or if we would be making any future appointments. Clearly they don't really care. Fast forward a year later when we finally found a great place to help my child. And I called back to this office to get a list of all the meds my child was ever given and the receptionist was not cooperative. A week later I received a printout in the mail of the last med my child was on when we last were seen (not the FULL list like I asked for). They don't seem to really care about patients or families; only about getting paid in the moment for whatever patients are there that day. read more

Wish I could give this a ZERO star. GO ELSEWHERE. Office staff is rude, unkind, and unfriendly. This office has gone completely downhill since the departure of Dr. Glasser who was the sole reason I began going to this practice. I have been a patient of Dr. Glasser since 2001 and also saw therapist Mary Rouse. Mary charged me for a missed appointment when I got sick the week before my wedding, and the ensuing negotiation over the missed appointment fee after having been a patient so long made me cease therapy sessions with her. I continued seeing Dr. Dryden-Edwards until today when I called to reschedule my appointment for tomorrow am due to the fact that I am six months pregnant, experiencing a complication and my OB instructed me to come into his office first thing tomorrow morning. The receptionist informed since it's less than 24 hours I will be charged a missed appointment fee unless I bring a note from my OBGYN. Because that's totally on the top list of priorities of mine when I go to the OB tomorrow morning. AM I 12? Bottom line is that this office does not care about their patients, they care about their paychecks. GO ELSEWHERE. I have NEVER been this appalled by the treatment of patients by a doctors office, not to mention a PSYCHIATRY office. read more

Have been going to Dr Edwards for years always very helpful and informative nice staff and never a long wait time

I have been taking my son to see Dr. Edwards for 10 years (he started seeing her at age 6) for ADHD related issues and depression. She is wonderful with him and he feels very comfortable speaking with her. His ADHD related issues have been very stable and Dr. Edwards' choice of meds for him have worked very well. She cares for him and his well being, and that's very important to me. read more

Dr Dryden-Edwards is professional and caring. She has cared for me for two years with my grieving process. I lost my teenage son in a vehicle accident just over three years ago. I am blessed to have found her. Dr Dryden-Edwards has never give up on me even when I've given up on myself. I am blessed to have her in my life. read more

This office is beyond ridiculous. I set up an appointment for my child. The person making the appointment was told my child's age AND birth date. We arrive for the appointment, the nurse practitioner speaks with me and then my child for about an hour for the intake appointment. She was pleasant and seemed professional. It was late and there was no one at the receptionist's desk to make the next appointment. I called the next day to set up my child's next appointment and was told they don't see children the age of my child. I asked "then why did she have an appointment last night?" The lady kept arguing and I finally said I'd find another doctor for my child. About a week or so later, I received a bill from Dryden-Edwards. I was livid, given we should have been told when we walked in the door for the very first appointment that they could not see my child. After calling and arguing this point, they did forgive the bill. Today, I received a generic form letter in the mail from this office saying "Dear patient, we are writing since you have not been in treatment within the last 4 months. Our practice requires that all patients in active treatment be evaluated at least every 3 months. If we do not hear from you within the next week and if you have not attended an appointment within the next 30 days, we will assume that you have discontinued your treatment or have sought treatment elsewhere. Your medical records will be closed and considered an active file if you do not come in for an appointment." and is signed by five doctors and two others. AGAIN, this office told me they can't treat my child, so this letter says to me they are clueless about their own policies. The silver lining to this story - I found a really good therapist for my child after this fiasco. Rating at one star because Yelp is forcing me to rate Dryden-Edwards and won't take zero stars as an option. read more

Dr. Chamberlin has been working with me for over 10 years and I couldn't be happier. Dr. Chamberlin is easy to communicate with, is a great listener, and provides excellent guidance. She is always on top of coordinating with my primary doctor, for example, getting my latest blood work and knowing any changes to my overall health. Dr. Chamberlin gave me a referral to an excellent therapist, Mary Rouse, in her office. Dr. Edwards met with me when Dr. Chamberlin was out of the office. Both doctors are super knowledgeable, caring, and patient. It's easy to see their wealth of experiences and depth of knowledge. Doctors at this practice really have my best interests at heart. I appreciate everything they've helped me through. Dryden-Edwards Psychiatric Services' front desk is equally wonderful. Just make sure you are on time, which is very reasonable! Brittany, Andrea, and Sarah, always greet me with a smile and consistently make the check in and check out process quick and smooth. Office Manager and Supervisor of Billing, Mary Stone, provides prompt responses whenever I left messages. Overall, I am pleased with the services I have received at Dryden-Edwards Psychiatric Services. I highly recommend this practice for all ages. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. My psychiatrist was so bad he made me cried instead of helping with my deppression. I asked to see somebody else in the same office. It was a completly inept PA. She forgot to do my refills on a Friday. Then refused to answer the call service. I went without medication for two days. She called my on Monday being confrontional. I saw a lot of teenagers there. Please don't take your children there. They only care about the money. read more

I have gone to this practice for years. My doctor left last year. She was very sweet and understood me. Prior to her leaving, I was planning on finding a new one because their customer service is terrible. When you call them, they rarely answer the phones. If you're lucky, you'll get a call back. If you miss their call and call them back, you have to start all over because you'll get their voicemail box again. I have been billed for appointments that my doctor missed when I was ready for the appointment. Extremely unprofessional. My doctor didn't address it, so I later had to address it with her billing assistant. Ridiculous. I have been cut off from medications once and asked to find a new doctor. At least this is prompting me to finally find a new one. I blame myself for sticking with them. I will find an office that cares a bit more for their patients, answers the phones, and bills correctly. I have never heard of a mental health doctor causing so much stress and anxiety. read more

Dr Dryden-Edwards does not have the experience to properly treat mental conditions. She frequently told me to go to the emergency room when she didn't know how to treat me wasting 8-10 hours. I saw her in 2006. She can't handle tough metal problems and once told me to go to another Dr for a consultation that cost me $300 and was worthless. Insurance did not cover it. After seeing her for 9 months and realizing she couldn't help me I ditched her for a John's Hopkins resident psychiatrist who treated me at no cost. Dr Dryden-Edwards told me she is only a part time psychiatrist and cannot handle difficult mental conditions. read more

If you're looking for help with mental health, it is my opinion that you should look elsewhere. The office staff is rude and unfriendly and incompetent incorrectly scheduling patients and messing up the billing. I started out seeing one of the therapists at the practice, William P Hixson LSW, for issues associated with PTSD and I was happy working with him and felt that we were a good fit. When things became more murky due to other problems that arose in my life the fit slipped. When it became clear that there was a need to terminate our therapy sessions because of his inability to handle what was happening with me it was done in an inappropriate and unprofessional manner and at the absolute worst time for me which he was aware of. He made me promises he was unable to keep and I believe he allowed his family into the picture too much as well and lost his objectivity. I was not given any resources or contacts and was simply told to find myself a new therapist and all further appointments were immediately cancelled. I believe Mr. Hixson to be a good man and I believe that he was at one point a good therapist who at first I spoke highly of when someone in the waiting room would ask my thoughts. He was professional and caring until he got in over his head and instead of helping only served to hurt. I would not currently recommend this practice to anyone in need of mental health services and if you have any major mental health issues that Mr. Hixson is not the therapist to see because I don't believe he is capable of handling many of the bigger issues. I have had trust issues for a very long time especially surrounding the mental health field and now, thanks to unprofessionalism by both a therapist and office staff I'm even more distrusting. read more

If I could give this place less than one star I would. I sat for over an hour in the waiting room without ever seeing anyone despite showing up a few minutes before my appointment time. No one at the front desk was remotely helpful about the situation and did not seem to be sympathetic to the situation at all. As I was trying to go the appointment during my lunch hour I could not continue to wait for who knows how much longer. When I said that I would need to reschedule they said first that I would have to pay for a cancelled appointment which I refused and pointed out that I had fulfilled my portion of showing up to the appointment on time they then agreed to reschedule me. I will not be returning here and their callous disregard for patients and potential patients is not at all what someone should expect of any type of Dr. especially ones who deal with patients with anxiety. Thanks to this my anxiety is now at an all time high and I have no recourse on how to deal with this effectively. read more
