As a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop and Black History Month, this was a unique event. There were 2 guest DJ's who spun old school hip hop throughout the event and a DJ who spun a live score throughout the entirety of the film. It was refreshing to see so many people of color come out to this side of town to gather. There was merchandise being sold in the lobby and food trucks such as Presto and Go Yaki in the parking lot. It was convenient for those attending this 3 hour long event. The staff kept things organized and they were kind and welcoming. The facility itself is in need of some renovations and updating. I get that this is a old historical building. I will definitely return for further programming of interest.

The chairs recline and you can put your feet up. I love that there's so much space between the rows so no one can kick your back. A couple issues I noticed: *The audio quality was terrible in my particular theater; the movie sounded like it was playing on an old boombox from the 80s. *The check in process is very confusing! I bought my ticket online before I left home. I walked in to the theater without anyone even stopping to ask me if I'd purchased a ticket. I figured there'd be a person waiting somewhere to scan my phone. *No one ever came by to close the side doors when the movie started. After half an hour of hearing people walk by, I got up and closed the doors. Not a big deal, I'm just used to other theaters always having someone close the door once the trailers are done playing and I wasn't sure if they were supposed to stay open for some reason. Besides that, I'll definitely be back!

Various musical groups (not famous, but still decent) will perform there during the summer, generally on Friday evenings. It's quite a fun place to sit out on a blanket as the sun goes down, eat a picnic dinner, watch the little kids free-form dance, and listen to some fun music. It's a small venue, so it feels intimate. It's generally lightly attended, so I haven't had to show up early for seating. Occasionally a train will drive by on the tracks about a hundred yards away. During intermission, go inside the center and look at the art on display there. The concerts are free, and it's a relaxing way to spend a summer evening. Look for the schedule titled "Starlight Concert Series".

Our instructor is so positive and helps to redirect and include all students to that they participate and grow in their skills. The lobby has great views of your child's class and plenty of seating. My kiddo just turned 2 and is in the tutu toddlers class (18m-3y). The teacher is great with the kids, and there's enough structure in the class for the kids to know what to do/expect next, but it's also very flexible for when toddlers inevitably don't follow directions. There's a warm up, ballet moves with lots of props (wands, feathers, ribbons, etc) to make it fun, a classical ballet story time, and a corresponding coloring page to end the class. Moms are welcome to be with kiddos at this age to help them through class. There's a play corner with a kids table, books, and blocks for before and after class, a kid (and baby) friendly restroom, and sitting area for parents too. There aren't as many mirrors as I would expect from a ballet studio (and no barre?) but my kiddo doesn't need either of those.

He enjoys performing in school plays, and we wanted him to experience formal theater training in a fun and supportive environment. I understand that not every child can be given a major role, so I had no issue with the small part he was assigned. What surprised me was the repeated feedback we received about him "wiggling," asking questions, and talking during rehearsals. When I met with Ms. Melissa, these behaviors were described as disruptive. He's seven years old. If a 7-year-old moving around, asking questions, and occasionally getting distracted is considered disruptive, then I question whether this program is equipped to work with young children. A beginner camp should be teaching kids, not expecting them to behave like seasoned performers. The most disappointing part was being told that our son could not participate in the final performance because he was "struggling." Rather than helping him succeed, they excluded him from the very experience he signed up for. Based on our experience, TAP seems better suited for children who already fit their definition of "well-behaved" than for energetic, curious kids who need guidance and encouragement. Parents should keep that in mind before enrolling.

We have attended more than 80 concerts and this was quite possibly the worst experience we have…read moreever had. First the ticket buying process was an absolute nightmare. The website not allowing certain seats to be chosen and choosing seats for you. The vip add on was not available at ticket purchase and we had to communicate that to the tour for it to get added on the website. Next, the security team was overall the absolute rudest people we have ever encountered. We had multiple interactions 1. There was a medical emergency where the patient was waiting a very long time for medical. In the meantime we asked if they would like our fans to cool down the child. When one of the members of security screamed at us about our tickets. Which was not the question. 2. We were in the front row where we were standing and dancing. As soon as the show started we missed the first 10 minutes arguing with a member of security with her telling us to sit down. The artist had already asked people to stand, dance and have a good time three times. We have been to almost 30 shows with this particular artist all over the US including the Ryman and Carnegie Hall. Not once have we been told to sit down by security. We were watching a concert in an outdoor ampitheater NOT a library. In addition, this specific female security person was very rude. The artist witnessed what was happening and said for a FOURTH time stand up and dance. So finally security left us alone. This was definitely the worst experience we have ever had at a show. If I could leave a zero review I definitely would.

It's nice to see work of local talent in one spot. Each month CGA highlights a local artist . As a added bonus, on the last Friday of the month you can meet the artist(s) to hear first-hand about the work you were just admiring, or to hear about his or her inspirations. Periodically, CGA holds weeklong auctions in which you bid on a piece and stop back during the week to see if your bid won. It's a good way to add pieces into your collection at an affordable price. If you're the type who wants to hear about the art, the people working can talk in detail about the artists technique, use of color, and previous works. At least that's been my experience the couple of times I've stopped by. It's less crowded than a museum(!)
