Man, the quality of work is insane and Anthony even exceeded timeline by nearly a week. I am so impressed by the craftsmanship, care, and attention to detail all around by both Anthony as well as the entire crew. What's nice about General Painting Company is that Anthony is a hands-on owner who works each job with his team and ensures to be there and inspect the work every step of the way. One other nice surprise was how clean they left the house after working. Many workers and companies do a rough sweep but the amount of vacuuming and cleanup that was done was very thorough. I also appreciated the floor coverings in a hallway since as we exit winter we are in the peak of salt/ice/dirt/mud season. As part of my cabinet painting process Anthony took all cabinet doors and drawer faces off site and completely removed any/all old paint and installed a brand new factory spray finish that is WAY better than the original. Once the crew painted my boxes/frames they installed all new hardware and hinges (premium with soft close design), made sure all doors were re-leveled and re-gapped, and installed new knobs that I purchased. They even took the care to install new door bumpers. The old cabinets had peeling paint, sagging doors, uneven gaps, had a thud when closing, buildup from many years of use and many other quirks that old cabinets would have. What I have now is basically brand new kitchen cabinets, for a fraction of the price of doing a kitchen renovation. Well worth the money and so glad I hired Anthony. Would recommend them to anyone for exterior or interior work.

Absolutely first rate!!…read more We hired Anthony in October of 2022 to paint the first two floors of our house. This was a challenging job. The ceilings are 11 ft high and there is a significant amount of architectural detail and trim. Everything from the ceilings to the baseboards required sanding, priming and multiple coats of paint particularly in those rooms that previously had very dark paint. Anthony reviewed all of the rooms during our initial visit. He took care to describe the kind of care each room would need. Different kinds of primers were used depending upon the kind of surface and previous paint job to ensure the best outcomes. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. We were particularly impressed with the level of care and attention Anthony paid to the woodwork. As is expected with a 150 year old house, not every prior painting job had been done to professional standards. We had peeling paint, chipped paint and paint with heavy brush marks. Anthony and his team made the woodwork shine! Two-thirds of the way through the job, my spouse and I were so pleased with the quality of the work that we asked Anthony to paint additional rooms in the basement. The results were terrific and we have no regrets about increasing the paint budget. Anthony provided a comprehensive quote prior to starting the job. When I made a couple of change requests mid-painting, Anthony was upfront and reasonable about the costs. Thank goodness!! I absolutely hated the colors I chose for the downstairs bathroom and asked for the entire room to be repainted in radically different colors. Anthony was too polite to laugh or roll his eyes. He just said, "Sure, we can do that!" Anthony also did a BEAUTIFUL job adding delicate gold touches to a fireplace I asked him to paint. We are thrilled with that too and everyone comments on how beautiful it is when they visit. Most importantly, Anthony has a really nice crew and he is on site to supervise them. Given that we live with our children, I worked from home initially until I was comfortable with the crew. Very quickly, I felt comfortable enough to go back to the office. I had no hesitation about any of Anthony's crew working in the house while we were at work and in fact quite came to enjoy seeing them when I returned at the end of the day. Anthony had the crew at our house six days a week for well over a month. They worked hard to ensure we would have the house back for the holidays. My wife and I hired Neal's Painting company to paint two rooms and a hallway in our home. We were…read morevery disappointed with the workmanship and cleanliness. Our walls are plaster so there were areas that needed compound and sanding. Their attempts to reduce the spread of dust were minimal. Where most of the sanding was done no floor coverings went down nor any coverings on our furniture. At least, plastic or other covering should have gone over the furniture. Also, there were quite a few areas that paint didn't even touch. They had finished the work at 7pm so we didn't see many of the errors until following morning when the sun highlighted them. Neal offered to fix them but by that time we had just wanted him gone. We were forced to hire Stanley Steamer to steam clean the floors, rugs and furniture. His response to the condition of the house was that he had alot of sanding and it was best he could do in the condition..but we have had two other rooms completed, compound, sanding and painting and did not have the dust left because everything was covered in plastic and drop cloths on all floor surfaces. I don't recommend Neal's Painting and will never use him again for any work at our home.

I contacted several contractors about painting and doing a few minor repairs to our kitchen…read morecabinets. Prep Smart was the only company to bring a sample cabinet door to show the type of work they do (this would end up having a major impact on the story - see below). They initially quoted a higher number than we were willing to spend, but when I told Ramsey that he lowered the quote to fall more in line with the other estimates we were getting. We had 20+ yr old oak cabinets that we had considered replacing, but the boxes were in fine shape other than a rotted floor in the sink base cabinet. There were cat scratches on a couple of the doors and drawer fronts, and the finish was wearing off to the raw wood in some places, and there was plenty of grime from years of not having any knobs or handles. So it was time for a relatively affordable refresh once we decided to sell our house. We chose Prep Smart because they said they could make our wood-grained oak cabinets have the same smooth finish of the sample door they brought on the sales visit. Their estimate was not the lowest or the highest, but we wanted the cabinets to look new and the sample door (plus the photos of their previous jobs) convinced us they could deliver the quality finish we were after. They said the job would take 1 week. Monday morning two painters arrived. Mario was the primary painter, and I have to give him specific recognition. He is one of the most effective communicators of any contractors I've ever dealt with, and a true painting craftsman. He made sure to explain everything that was going to be done, and ask my preference anytime there was a question. He and his assistant diligently removed the cabinet doors and drawer fronts and meticulously taped off the cabinet boxes to prepare for spraying, and they tented the entire half of the kitchen to prevent overspray and a big mess. Prep took 2 full days. Excellent work. Once painting began Mario asked me to look at the initial results and confirm if it was satisfactory. This is when things got interesting. The finish was not the smooth, solid surface that resembled the sample door, but a painted wood grain that you would expect if you just painted over the grainy oak. We immediately called Ramsey to point out the difference between what we were expecting vs what we were seeing. At this point we both realized there was a miscommunication around what was meant by "the same finish as the sample". Obviously there is a lot more work required to sand and fill the wood grain then just to paint over it. It's a lengthy process, especially given the volume of cabinets that we have. At this point progress slowed to a crawl as Ramsey and Mario discussed how to proceed in order to deliver a result that would satisfy us. They tried a couple simpler methods but it was clear that the only way to deliver the desired result was to completely fill the wood grain with wood filler and sand all the surfaces to a smooth finish, which would take several more days than planned, as well as increase the cost significantly. BUT THEY DIDN'T CHARGE US MORE! Mario got to work despite already having other jobs on the schedule. It took an extra week plus a few more days to finish some of the repairs, but the end result is spectacular! Here is why I recommend this company: 1. Ramsey honored his original price quote even though they spent an extra week+ doing the work to make sure we were completely satisfied with the result. 2. Mario did an AMAZING job and delivered a stunningly beautiful result. Our cabinets are GORGEOUS and have been mistaken for brand new cabinets by several people. I considered only giving them 4 stars because of the somewhat deceptive sales pitch and the actual length of the job, which left us without a usable kitchen for more than 2 weeks. But it is rare for a contractor to go above and beyond to satisfy their customer in my experience, by not only admitting a mistake and honoring the original price but also completing the work to such a high standard. Those factors warrant a 5-star rating in my book. Many thanks to Ramsey and Mario. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat.
