Had a roof done less than 2 years ago. Have a warranty and now have a couple small areas that are warping and pulling up. Have called, left messages, sent emails, keep getting the same answer "someone will call within 24 to 48 hours". Never got a call back. Paid a higher price thinking I would get a better product and better support. The roof was done quickly and seems to be a good product, but the support is absolutely terrible... Better off elsewhere...can't recommend them with such poor follow up. FOLLOW UP: After posting this review, they came out and saw the issue and said they would be back to fix it. A few days later a couple guys came out, ripped off the warping shingles and replace them. I will give it a couple days to settle in and post new pictures of the repair. For now I will up their rating to 3 stars, still a little perturbed that it took a negative review to get a response, but if the repair is good, I will be fair and update it again. As promised...follow up...the repairs seem decent and, after a struggle, they fulfilled their end of the deal, so i will give them 4 stars . Thank you for finally getting the job done. read more

What went well? EVERYTHING! The price was fair, they showed up on time with an 8 person crew, removed two layers of old shingles and replaced with 24 squares of Owens Corning Duration architectural shingles and completely cleaned up the entire site spotlessly. All in one day. No attitudes, no loud radios playing and no breaks from 7:00 AM to about 6:00 PM. WHAT THE HELL MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR? i would have loved to have been able to review Stronghouses work. Let me explain. I contacted Stronghouse, formerly Marshal Building, and set up an appointment to examine storm damage. Dave, from Stronghouse showed up on time and I recognized him from work I had performed by Marshals on my previous home. That work was well done and seeing Dave I was encouraged that, though the name had changed, there was continuity in the organizatio. Dave was great. We walked the property and I discussed having contacted my insurance and filed a claim for storm damage. My roof has two sections - one section over the main body of the house and the over an extension. we purchased the house 7 years ago and the previous owner, for whatever reason, reshingled the main body of the house but not the extension. The extension is where the damage occurred. Dave said he'd get back to me with an estimate. Days went by and I hadn't heard from him so I called. The office apologized and said they'd follow up with Dave. A week went by so I called again. Apologies again and again they said Dave would follow up. Three more days - crickets. I called a fourth time - yep - apologies - same response - We'll have Dave get in touch. Crickets. My take on this? As an insurance claim with the likelihood that the entire roof wouldn't be covered, only the extension (appx 400 sq ft) it wasn't worth their time. But at least have the courtesy to call back and explain why you can'/don't want to do the job. Perhaps Stronghouse, as a larger company, has a minimum job size? Who knows. But at least talk to your former customer. I had come back to you! The least expensive customer is the returning customer. Now I'm writing a negative review. What will that cost? read more

Marshall's from start to finish was amazing to deal with. Estimater was very nice, Price was very reasonable, agreed to price and then was given a discount which was awesome. Day before project garbage bin and materials were delivered right where I said for them to go. Next day they started right at 7am. The siding job started on June 5th. June 19th the project manager pointed out areas that needed more work. Got the final bill on June 21st, still not paid in full since I cannot get a face to face on site person in authority to see how the job was left. I have repeatedly sent pictures and have requested a person in authority to meet with us. Today I was told someone would call me today, it is 8pm no call. This could easy be resolved and I will give the final payment immediately, but no one is responding as requested. Too bad this is how I have get the message across. Scheduled time to install some common basement windows. When the installation day came their installer bragged about how he had over 40 years experience installing windows. Once I showed him the new windows to be replaced he freaked out saying he couldn't do the installation and walked off the job. Oddly, this clown still works for them. I had to reschedule for a few weeks later after already taking time off my work. The much younger new guy put the windows in without any issues so the actual work was excellent just poor scheduling with a poor worker. Don't use them if they send some old guy over. read more

Got my siding through them. Over all the experience was just not great and I felt like they were kinda lazy and shady about stuff the communication between the works and managers were bad and more than once i had to correct them and have them go back and change things. They spray painted a gutter in place and tried to tell me "their guys wouldn't have done that" but yet it's clearly spray painted and there is spray paint all around it. They drilled through my electrical panel causing electricity to arc up in the panel and got upset at their electrician for "throwing them under the bus" when I first suspected that they drilled through it I felt like they brushed me off acting like it was normal that my power kept going out while the did the siding just glad my house didn't burn down. Their electrician mention that it was NOT the first time they had drilled through a panel. They did replace the panel and a lot of the other issues I pointed out that weren't finished correctly the first time around but it was definitely like pulling teeth and I'm not satisfied with the over all results. We ended up doing the entire project for less than $4000. Everything... getting rid of old siding and all new materials included. Looks great. Hired a licensed and insured contractor for the job. Do your homework. Get to know the business or person you are hiring. And they should get to know you, too. Job was in a retirement community... customer is over 75 years of age and has limited income... which means, not willing to enter into financing a job for 10+ years at 4x the cost. read more

Got my quote and was told the job would start months later, which was fine with me. When the job did start, it was VERY QUICK. The house looks brand new! My only issues were that I was given 2-days notice before the project started, which didn't allow me time to deal with some of my plants and other things around the home. Also, the team that came to do it were a bit sloppy in regards to some of the clean up. However, the salesperson, David Santos, was very responsive and helpful throughout the process. UPDATE: Marshall DID reach out to me and apologized, and offered to send me a check to cover the cost of the screen plus a little extra for my efforts. This tells me that they are committed to their reputation, and makes me feel better about any warranty repairs that may crop up. In fairness to them, the call was about compensating me and apologizing only. They did indicate that they saw this review, but they did not ask me to alter or remove it. It was very easy to request a bid, receive a detailed estimate and complete the project! The options available to us were thoroughly explained without any pressure toward one over another. They communicate very well without pestering. I was kept informed about developments and delivery/installation. They had an opening arise and courteously offered to move up our completion date. The installers went right to work and consulted me on a minor matter but it did not impede their progress. They cleaned up both outside and inside leaving no trace of the work completed. I have used many contractors in the past for roofing and siding projects. Not one of them can compare to the great folks at Marshalls Building & Remodeling, a family run business. Their communication is second to none and they do what they say they are going to do .. and beyond! The roofers and siders know what they are doing. Each team has a Team Lead that they report to. The Team Lead also keeps the client informed on everything thats going on. I worked with Kobi and Eri - both great guys! Both showed great knowledge of the project and had "can do" attitudes! My house is old - 1780 and with it came a lot of issues!! Each and every one was properly addressed. 38 year old house needed some siding work done. Called a couple of companies and they wanted a fee to come and look. NOT Marshall Building and Remodeling. Met with their salesman Alex. He was prompt, courteous and knew his stuff. We explained what we needed done. He took some pictures and returned to his office. Evidently they have a computer program that maps your house. He returned about a week later with his proposal which included drawings of the finished project. My wife was not at home at the time so we rescheduled another visit which was not a problem with Alex. I had told my wife the cost of what he proposed and we were both impressed. He returned and gave my wife the details. At that point, because of the price on the siding, we asked to add a new roof. He did that on the spot. Came back with a very reasonable number so we added a front door, sliding patio door and new kitchen window. He had all the pricing right then and there. We agreed to move forward. Major selling point...NO MONEY PAID UNTIL SATISFIED WITH COMPLETED JOB. First to be completed was the roof. Roofers were here at 8am and done by 3pm. Very professional crew, hard working and thoroughly cleaned up at the end. Next were the doors and the window. Crew again arrived about 8 and was finished by 2pm. Again very professional and hard working. Thoroughly cleaned up at the end. Finally the siding crew showed up led by Adrian. Marshall must have saved their best for last. These guys (and Adrian's wife) were here at 8 every day and worked until it got dark. Very meticulous and pleasant. Did an outstanding job. The last day they were here almost to 6pm wrapping up everything in the dark. Adrian is the best....Marshall should be proud of his work ethic. Finally one last point. We did not change one thing from what Alex proposed (color on roofing, style of doors and window, siding color) and it came out looking great. He knew exactly what we wanted. Harvey Windows Industry has shown that they do not care that my 20 year old Harvey casement kitchen window is chronically broken-- they expect me to self- repair it. They were unable to repair the crank assembly at their last appointment. I have given up calling and waiting 2 months to get a response visit! I Do Not Recommend Harvey Industry Windows or Service! Marshall Building is hands down the best in RI and MA! We have used this company two years in a row to update our 1930s Dutch colonial located in Providence. The first project was 18 Harvey replacement windows done in 2014. The second job was a new roof, vinyl siding, and gutters that was just completed. After getting several quotes in 2014 I found Marshall to be fairly priced and the most knowledgeable. Additionally, the customer pays nothing until the job is completed! This increased my confidence that the job was going to get done right and alleviated all the stress of having work done to the house. And as I expected the windows are still amazing a year later. Having such a wonderful experience last year, Marshall was the only company I contacted when I needed a roof, siding, and gutters. And yet again they did a perfect job. David Marshall, one of the owners, came to our home when I requested a quote for replacing 20+ windows. He is a gifted sales person and spent more the 1 1/2 hours telling us what kind of job they will do, how they will do it, his company and family history even naming the person who will do the job. We were virtually sold on using them if the price turned out to be reasonable. He told me we would have a price that week and when I hadn't heard from him by the next week I called and he told me I would have it the next day. That week also went by without getting a price although he did call speaking to my wife while I was driving on I-95. My wife asked him to send the quote and when we didn't receive one by the following week I called twice leaving a message each time. I never heard back and never received a quote or explanation of why not. read more

After two no-shows, a gentleman (one of the marshall's) came out to meet me. We walked the complex, took measurements, and went over scope. Never heard back! I tried calling 5 different times, before finally blacklisting them as a contractor from all of our properties. The gentleman that came and gave the estimate was very honest with his assessment and what sold us, was you don't put anything down until the job is done and you're happy with it. My wife and I have used Marshall on two major projects. We had a house in Warwick sided and had all of the windows in a house in Narragansett replaced. Apparently Marshall is structured by specialty, so that the siding crews only do siding, the window crews only do windows, the roofing crews only do roofing, etc. The crew that did the siding job in Warwick was noting short of exceptional. They were meticulous and their attention to detail exceeded our expectations. They started at sunrise and worked until sunset. The same holds true for the team that installed the windows in the house in Narragansett. What made this job even more challenging is that the house is framed with 2x6's, not the normal 2x4 construction. The "showtime" crew are the best of the best and my wife and I couldn't be happier with the work product. I would recommend this company to my children. read more

Step 1 is complete which is the new roof. If anyone who wants to hire a contractor who answers or returns calls Marshall B&R is the one. The morning of the project start you meet the project manager (in my case Jeff R) and discuss anything that concerns you. Crew arrives, dumpster and material get delivered. I came home for lunch and it appeared a bomb went off (in a good way), entire perimeter of the house was covered in tarps and anything fragile was covered to protect, the main house was striped and shingled except for the front portico. My shed was stripped and was going to be complete after lunch. I came home from work and everything was picked up and put back in place. There were a few perennials that were damaged (no problem they will grow back), bear in mind landscaping was covered with a tarp, ladders and bundles of shingles are heavy. The crew uses a large pull behind magnet to pick up nails, all we found was 1 nail = great job. My wife and I could not be happier and can't wait for the rest of the work to be done. We contacted Marshall to re-do the roof on our new house. When we first called they said they only needed an address to do the quote. Later they followed up with an appointment to take a closer look at the roof. It probably took a few weeks from quote to completion, but they were in contact with us the entire time, selecting roof tiles and looking at time frames. They did the job a couple of weeks ago. We were shocked when they said it would only take a day or two! They rolled up first thing in the morning with a dumpster and a full crew of workers who set to work right away. They worked up until evening, even though it started snowing a bit. They next day they came back, swept up the snow and debris and went right to work again. In all, it only took a day and a half, and it looks gorgeous! We also had a load of rain the following week and not a leak in sight. Pricing was mid-range, but I think for work like this, you don't want to go with the cheapest contractor available or your roof might fall on your head. We will definitely contact them for more work in the future. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Marshall Building on a full roof replacement. They were professional and attentive right from day one, picking out color, describing what was going to be, timeframe, etc... and yes the price was great! I meet a supervisor the morning of the project, again very professional and approachable. They removed the roof, replaced rotted wood and installed the new roof all in one day!! Once the job was completed the entire area was picked up and you never would have known they were there. We hired Marshall to side our house earlier this year. At first we felt very comfortable with the salesman, the quoted price, and the estimated timeline to complete the job (1 week). Once the workers started the job, things began to go downhill. They left our yard a complete mess until their boss yelled at them, did not put in full days on the job, sometimes not coming in due to the threat of rain. The job took three plus weeks to finish, and when the job was complete multiple tools were missing from our garage, and various things were done half ass, for example, they did not give one of our water spigots enough room to connect a hose to so I had to fix this myself. They left a gaping hole in our dining room wall where they removed a cat door, and did not hook up some of the gutter drainage properly, amongst other things. While the salesman apologized for this and told us the workers would be back to fix their mistakes, well we are still waiting. And of course no one copped to the missing tools...the salesman offered us various forms of compensation after acting defensively but again we are still waiting despite us paying in full... Bottom line...do not hire this company, they have poor customer service and minimal follow through. I thought the customer was always right? read more
