Danielle was extremely knowledgeable, and put us on the right path with regard to our budget, design expectations and really helping us to understand how the entire process works. Then came the build process, in which we were fortunate enough to work with Steve Costa who not only juggled a third-floor walk-up, a building from the late 1800s, but also an extremely pregnant woman who was keen on getting this project off the ground and completed as quickly as possible. Steve led a fantastic group of NKB employees and subcontractors, but I would be remiss to not give a special shoutout to John and Mike who were our dream team carpenters, kitchen décor experts, and mental support during the project. Our dog clearly misses Steve, John and Mike as they became best friends it seems during the project. Additionally, Kelsea from the PMA team was a huge help in keeping the schedule/accounting on track for us. We were THRILLED with the final product (photos attached), and we are so very thankful for all of the hard work of the entire NKB team to bring our dream bathroom to life (before the baby, may I add)! Kitchen Direct and the President/Owner Peter Curti took $35,000 of our money and never completed…read morethe renovation of our kitchen. All our bottom kitchen doors were made incorrect. We were given plywood doors and drawers when we paid for real wooden doors. All the staining was missing throughout the kitchen. Front and bottom panels were never installed and a top cabinet door was never made. Because of the wrong size cabinets we also cannot access our trash or recycling bins. The cabinets we chose were Showplace Cabinetry and even though our kitchen is under warranty, Showplace refuses to do the warranty work. Showplace will only deal with the Kitchen Direct. Throughout the entire kitchen renovation there were a multitude of mistakes, errors, inaccurate measurements etc. Scott C. sent us a letter telling us that he was too frustrated and that he quit. We fought this for months through the BBB and the RI Attorney General's office. Kitchen Direct is not a reputable company. The AG's office does not have the authority to force him to complete the work, or to have his license revoked. We have called Showplace and sent emails to the President, only to be hung up on and emails that went unanswered. We have been living a nightmare, and we do not have the money to obtain an Attorney. After paying $35,000 our only option is to paint the entire kitchen and hire someone to build a cabinet door and all the missing panels, again, we do not have the money! If Scott Curti has a rebuttal with this complaint, PLEASE BE AWARE!!!!! Do not purchase any cabinetry from Kitchen Direct, Inc. or any cabinetry that is made by Showplace Cabinetry as they will not stand by their mistakes and only will deal with the kitchen company direct and not the homeowner. If you want quality work, excellent communication, and ease of mind, hire Build Pros. We originally wanted to have our microwave vented out (rather than circulating air and grease in the kitchen) and add a second banister to the stairs to the basement to make them more safe for our growing toddler. We were also considering having our spare basement bathroom remodeled. The bathroom really wasn't very functional because it was built in pieces (so the gross tiny stall shower wasn't even in the bathroom). That was a big job, and we wanted to get a quote for all three pieces. The first two jobs were too small on their own, so we hired Build Pros for all three. They were amazing to work with, and the work they did was the highest of quality. The team was extremely communicative, and we always knew when they were coming, what they were doing next, and what to expect. Their spreadsheet system made it really easy for everyone to keep track of what we had selected, costs, etc. They helped us a ton with design decisions, made recommendations when appropriate, and made sure we were happy with absolutely everything before moving forward. Our house stayed unbelievably clean, given the level of work they were doing, throughout the process. Mike and Rouben were fantastic at reimagining the layout of our bathroom, taking all of our priorities into consideration. John, their carpenter, is a master. We went way over budget, but a lot of that was my fault. I wanted a bathroom that was functional, but the more we talked and designed, the more I realized we actually could get a really *nice* bathroom that wasn't just functional, but high end. They did a bunch of other random things in the area too. We just were so happy with their work, and they were already there, so we asked them to fit in a few small things and they were awesome in getting those done too (adding a couple outlets in the adjacent home gym, replacing our outdoor water spigots, etc.). We are extremely happy with the final products. We even had a water problem shortly after they finished. They fixed it swiftly with no charge. It might have been a part issue or a labor issue, and so in the beginning it was unclear whether we were going to have to pay for repairs right away. I would have been very disappointed if they had charged us, and have all the more confidence in them since they fixed it and stood by the work and warranty. The only real negative was that sometimes when we had to make a decision, and the team gave us a quick "off the cuff" estimate about how much a few different options would cost, the estimate was really a fair amount lower than estimated. That contributed to some of our cost increase, but in the end I think we would have made the same decisions regardless. We're extremely happy with the final products. We even hired them again and they're starting work at my mother-in-laws house this week! I'm already dreaming of putting an addition on our house in the future, and we will hire them absolutely if/when we do this.
