This contractor is well reviewed with an impressive portfolio and highly qualified - BUT.. as soon as we discussed issues around the city permitting requirements, it quickly went south. From citing delays, potential added costs, etc. which is understandable. HOWEVER, we were able to acquire a simple "over the counter" permit from RPV which did not require submitting any plans, details, product specs, etc. since it was simply replacing current -- existing composite boards. After advising him of such, we get a request to meet and being told, he could no longer do the job due to a worker injury. While it may be the case, it just seemed TOO coincidental that this happens immediately upon my sending a text advising of the permitting. SOOO I guess the lesson learned from this case is if even licensed contractors express hesitations or push back about permitting.. STAY AWAY from them. Now we have to start the painful task of interviewing contractors and bids again.. THANKS FOR NOTHING iDeck!!!!

Our home has teak trim and architectural features. Many of the surfaces that get a lot of sun exposure needed work. Indy came out, evaluated what needed to be done, and Teak Master promptly sent an estimate. The senior crew supervisor was Indy, and our crew consisted of Andres, Arturo, Samuel, Abidan, and Juan. They were here for three days, sanding and refinishing the teak. As an example of their attention to detail, my wife has a lot of potted plants on the patio. It was no surprise that they moved all the potted plants out of the way. The surprise came at the end, when Indy took out his phone, looked at the photo he had taken three days earlier, and directed the crew as they put every plant back in its original position! Nobody else has ever done that. And, on the day the trash was collected, I left the barrels on the driveway, to give the crew more room in the side yard. After they left, the barrels were back where they belong. It's the little things. Although Indy and I had examined the house in advance to determine the scope of work, as they were wrapping up Indy looked at the garage doors and pointed out that after refinishing the other areas, the doors looked a bit shabby. Jake made many excellent recommendations regarding the upgrades to not only the floors and baseboards, but also improving the door casings and interior millwork. Two wouldn't take the job because it was too small. Franklin came by and gave me the best price. After the initial deposit, his crew came by about a week later and finished the job in one day. I think they did a pretty good job replicating what had existed before, although the work seemed a little sloppy. I saw a few gaps in the framing, but they were able to seal it up with bondo. Also on one of the posts there was a large crack in the wood, but that was sealed as well. For the price, I think this was a pretty good value. Would definitely recommend for smaller jobs like mine.
